I found Maid Bright through Yelp but had a very different experience from most other people. My take-away is Maid Bright might be good for superficial ongoing cleaning but can't do a move-out deep clean. Read on for details... I was looking for someone to do a move-out deep clean with enough attention to detail that they would find spots I hadn't even thought of. All furniture was removed before the cleaning. I hired Maid Bright on an hourly basis to do this job. I made it very clear that we needed it finished on 7/14. The ladies arrived on time but didn't call. One thing to note is we had a painter finishing up some work while the ladies were working, but they didn't bump into each other and we never complained about anywhere the painter was working. The ladies worked on the upstairs and in the basement for an hour and then moved to the kitchen area. We checked the upstairs and found hair and debris on the carpet and dust and gunk in the bathrooms. We asked the ladies about this, and they explained the instructions were not to vacuum. Misunderstandings aside, how could they possibly have thought it ok not to vacuum an obviously dirty carpet in a perfect move-out clean without at least raising it with us? To the issue of gunk and dust in the bathroom, they agreed (after some audible reluctant moans) to take a look. This is a huge fail already. Our goal was for them to find things we can't find (i.e. exceed expectations). If we have to point things out to them, they have already failed. I might as well clean myself in this case. While pointing out the issues in the bathrooms and other places later on, the ladies argued with us over almost every issue we brought up. Two examples: Me: There is dust on the top of this cabinet. Lady: Oh, yeah, I see it, but I can't get that because it's so rough. My mop can't do it. Me: Ok... but I can wipe dust off with my finger. Lady: Look, I can show you ... [tries to mop with poor results] Me: What about if you do this ... [do it a little differently with good results] Lady: Ok, I can do that... [visible attitude] ... Lady: Please check the fridge I'm done with it. Me: Ok looks good, did you clean the top too? Lady: No. Me: ... why? Lady: I'm too short, I can't reach it... Me: Uhhh... [stool?] Why should I be helping the ladies with mop technique and cleaning-high-places technique? Maid Bright should pay me for project management services! We called management after an hour of this bickering with the ladies. They promised to call them immediately and to ask them to finish everything per our expectations. I asked specifically if the ladies would stay or go. Management was confident that they would finish that day and meet our expectations. Twenty minutes later the ladies drove off in a rude rush. A little later in the evening our property management company stopped by to do the move-out inspection and found numerous issues (gunk in bathrooms/kitchen, sticky refrigerator top, etc). I ended up cleaning myself in front of the property management company. The next day Maid Bright management sent me a template "Hope you were satisfied" email asking for full payment. This is quite bizarre as I made it very clear on the phone that I was very very upset and since the ladies left 20 minutes after that it should have been obvious that I was still unsatisfied with the service. After a few calls and emails from/to management, they offered to clean for two more hours for the price of one. Even if we were still in the country and even if I had not already cleaned everything myself, why would we waste another two hours of our time micromanaging ladies? Given this, the best offer they could come up with was to take 1 hour off the invoice. So charge me $138 instead of $207. This is a bit of a slap in the face. I say "Maid Bright, do me a perfect job and I'll give you $400 or whatever other number you want. Can you do it?". Maid Bright says yes, does a horrible job, gets me to train their employees, and then says "Well we'll only charge you $138!" Seems Maid Bright reads their Yelp reviews, so they might be thinking: "But what do you want us to do? The ladies just had a bad day." Being in the service industry myself, I'd tell them to do what I would do: Don't charge any money and send a bouquet of flowers. That would have saved me from writing this review and paying $138 for horrible service. ---update--- Management gave me a call after I posted the above review and asked me to take it down in return for keeping my $138. To be fair, that shows a certain level of dedication to the repuation of the business and I changed from 1 to 2 stars to reflect this. I decided to keep it up. I am very thankful to Yelp that they wouldn't have taken the $138 either. I'm guessing at least part of the reason behind the great Yelp success of this business is that many other customers opt for the money. I think this might be something of a systemic issue in Yelp. read more

I tried out this service for three weeks. The first week, they didn't show or call or respond to my repeated messages after a snowstorm. The housekeepers were nice but did not do a good job in their following two visits. The company insisted on doing a "deep clean" and charging substantially more the first week but it was no different or more lengthy than their original clean. Even the regular clean was not particularly good--mold appeared in the shower which had not been cleaned. When I asked for a refund of the extra cost of the deep clean, management refused. I, too, am someone who never ever thought would hire a maid service as I am so used to doing it myself. But with a full-time job, a two year old, and one on the way, I just don't have the time to keep up. Yusuf, the owner, is extremely friendly and genuine. He came out and explained everything about the company and gave us a very reasonable estimate for our single family home. We decided to go with bi-weekly cleanings. I am a self-proclaimed clean freak and cannot stand dust and dirt. I truly wondered if anyone could clean my house better than I can, and Maid Bright proved they could. Details are clearly very important to them - baseboards, lightbulbs, ceiling fans, neatly folding the top tissue in the box, arranging the pillows, changing sheets, etc. I was AMAZED and very VERY relieved. I used to spend hours each week cleaning, and it is totally worth paying them to take care of it for me. I now have more time to spend with my daughter and relax when I come home from work. One week I was staying home since I was under the weather when the maids showed up. They were completely professional and friendly and did not mind I was there. They are also extremely flexible with scheduling. They usually show-up on Mondays, but one week we had a conflict, and they were completely fine when I called the morning of and rescheduled for later that week. I contacted Maid Bright based on the recommendation found in a Fairfax County guide. Using their website I made an inquiry and received a call to set up an appointment the next day. On the day of my appointment the representative called to confirm the time and location and showed up right on time. He was very polite and thorough, taking a tour of the entire house. He then sat down and told me about the company, detailed the services and provided me a verbal and written quote for different services via e-mail within a few minutes. Overall, it was an excellent experience. Soon after I called to schedule our first cleaning. The process was very smooth and I received two confirmation e-mails with the estimated arrival time. On the day of the cleaning, the crew showed up within the stated window and got right to work. They were fast and thorough, cleaning everything in our three story townhome. The next day I received a call to confirm everything was done to our satisfaction (which it was), and I also set up a recurring cleaning on the schedule I requested. Maid Bright did an excellent job cleaning my apartment after I moved out so that it was ready for turnover to the landlord; I could not believe how clean the apartment was when I walked in to look at their work. My bathrooms and kitchen were spotless; floors were all mopped, counters clean, and looked just like they did the day I first moved in to the apartment 2 years ago. The floors were all swept and the whole place just looked absolutely fantastic. Furthermore, from a standpoint of value, I have to give extra kudos to Maid Bright. When I was moving into my new house, I had a different company do that cleaning. Maid Bright outperformed by FAR in terms of the quality of how clean my apartment was in comparison to their competition did, and sadly I paid their competition over $100 more than I paid Maid Bright. For what I paid Maid Bright, I got a far better service. If I ever need to get my new house cleaned again, I will definitely be hiring Maid Bright if they serve the area I now live and I would recommend them to anyone looking for the HIGHEST quality cleaning of your house/apartment that you can get. read more

We had to fire our previous cleaning company back in June - their service had steadily gone downhill over time. We went for about 7 months without a cleaning crew - I thought we were doing pretty well at keeping the place clean. Then my husband broke his leg and on a whim, I called in Maid Bright to help me out. We were absolutely blown away by the level of service we received. I totally did not expect it. I had always been basically disappointed with our previous service provider - they did a fine job, but never more than a totally average job. Let me just list all of the things Maid Bright did specifically that we noticed and appreciated: - Our shower is spotless. After 7 months of mediocre cleaning jobs, it was getting gross. They clearly used all the right cleaning supplies and techniques because it came out sparkling clean! - They cleaned under furniture - no dust bunnies hiding under bookcases or in corners. - They cleaned cobwebs and actually wiped down baseboards - they didn't just dust them and move the dust around. They actually used a wet cloth to clean everything - amazing! - They cleaned out my fridge - as in, they took everything out, cleaned it properly, and put everything back in. - They cleaned my oven - they took the racks out and wiped it down thoroughly. It is no longer smoking when we turn it on! - All of the light fixtures in the house were thoroughly cleaned and are sparkling. - I don't know what kind of vacuum they use, but I want one. OMG - our basement carpet is old, but since they came, it has been really nice and feels much, much cleaner. - They put liners in my trashcans - all around the house! Really amazing. I could go on and on. The job was simply excellent. We have signed up for monthly service, which is $80 more per month that we used to pay. If Maid Bright can keep up the level of service they provided in the first cleaning, then it will be well worth it! read more

I have had a few cleanings with MB and believe it is worth the money. The initial cleaning was good, but I was impressed with the follow up cleaning. I have used this company for 2 years, the cleaners are so-so, but I'm giving the company 2 stars for the following reasons: - Since this is a cleaning company, the cleaners who visit tends to change from visit to visit, as such we do not feel comfortable providing our house key. The quality of cleaning also varies, some do excellent jobs, but some are honestly quite mediocre. - They do not tell you when they are visiting, until the day before. On multiple occasions they provide less than 24 hours notice on their arrival time, e.g. sending an email at 1pm, that they are coming by at 8am the day after. - The window that they provide, is a window of arrival, and not of the actual cleaning time frame. For example we had a 2pm-4pm window, and the cleaners arrived at close to 4pm, meaning they were around till 5pm+. - Although they are lax with their own scheduling, they have STRICT expectations on their customers - requiring them to give a 72 hours change/cancellation notice. Because my work schedule fluctuates, I am not able to provide this 72 hour change notice since they only provide a 24 hour notice! On some occasions the office staff made a stink when I tried to reschedule after I found out what time slot I got. Overall unhappy with this company - I will look for a private cleaner from my neighbors' recommendations instead. read more
