    Friday fish fry
    Daniela B.

The place, the food, the staff! I tried this supper club in a weekend getaway and it is amazing. It is everything I have read about supper clubs (I'm a newbie). I went there for the supper club experience and for the fish fry and Hillcrest Lodge Supper Club didn't disappoint. We went in Oct 2021 and nobody was wearing a mask, but us. On that note, the staff was nice & courteous and there is a reasonable space between tables. A GREAT supper club!

Great broasted chicken. Great prime rib on Saturday. Wisconsin supper club. Friendly help at the table and the bar.

Ash's is a food gem in the north woods of Wisconsin. This is an area where many restaurants are…read morebar first and restaurant second. I get here rarely because I don't live here, but have a summer cottage in the area. Let me break down my dinner tonight for you below, and you can decide if you want to try it for yourself. Service - Spot on. Attentive, but not too attentive and very friendly. Appetizer - Truffle fries. Some people like truffle, some people hate truffle. Regardless of that, the fries were cooked to perfection! I cannot think of another french fry I've had that was better than these. Salad - Rarely do I eat all of my house salad, because honestly, they usually suck. This salad was fresh with a light lemon vinaigrette. I cleaned the plate. Bread - Great bread. I don't know if they make it in house, but the garlic butter that came with it was fantastic as well. Mains: Mine - Veal Schnitzel. The dish came with two large veal cutlets, broccolini, and a mountain of garlic mashed potatoes. I could only finish one of the cutlets. There was a dijonnaise drizzled across the plate which was a welcome acid to balance out the richness of the veal. broccolini is always good, and the potatoes were really good. My daughter(an adult) - Boneless braised short ribs in a red wine gravy. I have had this previously and it was great. I sampled some of her dinner and confirmed that it is still very tasty. It taste like someone had cooked the ribs with good seasoning for a long time. The sides were the same as mine, but when you have a couple solid sides, why bother with other randoms. Dessert - We shared a Strawberry creme brulee. I have no words to describe how good this is. Get it.

I opted for the poor man's lobster with the seasoned wedges. Friends got the fried perch with homemade fries. The wedges were much better than the fries. The fries were good but not as crisp as I would have liked. We sat at the bar and Mary the bartender was so friendly. Drinks were a good pour and they made a hell of an old fashioned. The pricing was so inexpensive. With a couple rounds of drinks plus food it was only 85 bucks. So not only is this place great for you stomach it's also light on your wallet

Ok, listen. This…read moreplace is amazing. It's also 100% divey. Both can be true. Saw the reviews of this spot when we were staying at a cabin in nearby Mountain, WI. We drove up (with my parents in two, no less) and thought--uhh...they have food? And, according to Yelpers (thanks Lori!), good food? Indeed. We walked in, grabbed a table, and a server immediately popped over with menus. The menu is brimming with all the pub grub classics so there was something for everyone in our party of five. I got their fish fry, which was outta this world. Huge pieces of fish, tartar, coleslaw, choice of potato and rye bread. It was the sort of meal where the entire table goes quiet as everyone is in their own world of deliciousness. When we were finished, our server asked if we'd be interested in dessert. The dinner portions were so ample, we were leaning toward no until she offered to bring over the candy basket. Candy basket? Some places have a dessert tray Grudgeville Pub & Grub has a candy basket. Yes, please. I rarely, if ever, purchase candy bars so sifting through their selections was a real treat. I got a Kit Kat duo (mint + dark chocolate kit kat bar = who knew? Not me!). It was a fun little treat to top off an otherwise exemplary meal. Don't let the out of season Christmas lights, ancient linoleum, mismatched vinyl chairs fool you--this place is serving up legit eats. Get to it!
