Tried to go here for dinner. We sat at the bar for at least 5 minutes and were never acknowledged. We left.

First of all... when the waitress tells you that the portions are huge... believe her! I ordered the pancakes with blueberries (so many blueberries) and they were so delicious and massive! Literally plate size! My husband's 3 egg omelette was also massive. the service was good and the place was quaint. Also very affordable! Sunday breakfast. The parking lot was full (with every vacationer going home from their weekend in the north woods). There was a sign on the door that said something like "we are understaffed, please be nice to those who did show up for work". We were weary that it might be a while, or it may not be worth the wait. Well, it was anything but a long wait. Maybe 5 mins, and we were at our seats. And as far as lack of staff, I sure didn't see it! Looked like (at least in my opinion) there were plenty of staff. I did find it a little weird that our waitress asked us to wait until she got our drinks before we could hit the breakfast buffet. The buffet was $13 (I think) and it was well stocked and the food was good. Maybe 6 main items, but all were tasty... especially the scrambled eggs and bacon. (If you are like me, who likes his bacon a little underdone (not crispy) you will love the bacon.) The buffet itself is a bit of a bottle neck because they have pancakes, fruit and some desserts on an added table on the end, which makes an "L" in the buffet line. This creates a back up at times at the buffet, but it's only a bit of a hold up. One of the people in my group ordered off the menu and she said her French Toast was very good. The food arrived pretty quickly, which was nice because she had food timely enough that she got to eat, and finish eating, with the rest of us. Would recommend this restaurant for its buffet and for those who want to order of the menu. I wouldn't let the busy parking lot keep you away. Things moved pretty quickly. read more

2 hungry kids in the backseat and driving home I asked the wife to look for a crowded parking lot in one of the towns we were heading home after another great family vacation in the Northwoods. We spied this place and pulled in. My grumpy daughter was not impressed and gave it 2 stars . We walked in and it's an amazing space. The staff were amazing and knew everything. I had 2 eggs, hashbowns, and a English muffin the size of my hand with prime rib for $12.95. My neice had chili and looked to me that prime rib was in their. A woman actually also paid for our breakfast as a act of random kindness and we passed it along to the next customer but I've never had that happen before! It's quite close to the casino and I'll be back on my way to our family cabin and again when I leave it. Btw, grumpy daughter gave it 9 stars afterward. read more

Ok. Service is odd. "You can take 12 or 10". Uh, I haven't ever been seated at a restaurant where they tell you the table number. Super duper slow. They say they are understaffed, but don't appear they are. They are just slow. Food is good if you want to wait. read more

The food here was reasonably priced and so good! The burgers were excellent and my kids loved their kids meals.

Went hear breakfast had the hungry man skillet the food was very good and the potato bacon soup was absolutely delicious.

Was here for Sunday dinner. Food was ok and very limited staff. Convenient to our cottage. Will try again.

We just had the best Mushroom and Swiss Burgers! Mine had grilled onions - delicious! We ordered them for carry-out with fries. My husband hates pickle juice on his burger, and pickles were in our carry-out boxes, but under the wax paper. The taste of pickles did not interfere with his burger. I love pickles, and OTH uses quality dills. We will definitely be back for the spectacular food and the friendly service. read more

Came here for breakfast, on the busy Labor Day holiday. It was very busy, but the service was still great and the restaurant very clean. All our breakfasts were excellent, not greasy or salty. They offer Texas toast, too! To top it off, they have a bloody mary bar! There were tons of alcohol and mix choices, as well as enough garnishes to satisfy almost anyone! read more

This place is still the best. New decor and a great homey feel. Whether at the bar, in the dining room, or getting ice cream this place is great. My family and I only visit a few times a year but when we do we make sure to visit the OTH early and often. read more

Cute and clean when you walk in. The staff was friendly when we came in. Just never got checked on after the food was delivered, no refills offered or asking how our food was. Had to shout across the restaurant for the check and to go box. Also my daughter wanted chicken tenders but didn't get because they were frozen and asking $10...that's a price you charge for fresh hand breaded chicken tenders not frozen sorry. (Texas Roadhouse even has hand breaded for $9.99 so c'mon) Went to use the bathroom when leaving...BIG mistake, nasty and dirty, unflushed and clogged toilets, smelled like an outhouse. You'd think for a clean dining area the bathrooms would be decent too....makes you wonder about the kitchen then as they always say a bathroom is a reflection of other unseen areas cleanliness. It was okay for lunch but I wouldn't go back. There are plenty of other great little up north restaurants to stop in at. read more

Service was great and the food better than most and the Prices were just right. Probably the best place within 50 miles to have a meal.

Stopped for breakfast on a Sunday with my family. What a disappointment. I was visiting the area and not familiar with this place but there were plenty of people. The OJ was sour and when I asked to take it away was made to feel left like I was being a problem. The food quality was not very good. Customer service was not good. Went for breakfast last time, went for dinner the other night, and breakfast again the day after - so, been several times. Food is very good and consistent. Servers are outstanding and friendly. Room doesn't have much atmosphere ( dim the lights a bit at night? I dunno - just an idea to make it less cavernous). Nevertheless we will go back for broasted chicken ( supper delish!), and Bloody Mary bar and potato pancakes at breakfast. Im a fan, for sure. This is our first time at Old Town Hall. Party of two. Out for ride and saw a lot of vehicles so thought we would give them a try. Not many customers compared to vehicles; 5 of 16 tables had guests. We asked if there was a Sunday special. We were told Broasted Chicken and it came with all you could eat salad bar. We ordered broasted chicken and salad bar. We had to ask for lettuce so we could actually have a salad. The sign by salad bar said chili and chicken noodle soup. It was cream of mushroom and cream of chicken. Both were delicious, sort of. We scraped the bottom of the kettle to get a cup of cream of chicken. They removed the empty container and didn't replace it. We used the last couple cups on soup table. No more came out before we left. 50 minutes after arriving salads were brought to our table. We were confused at first, they were for another table. 5 minutes later our chicken came. The chicken was good. The wait staff confused. Our bill and boxes to go came. I checked the bill and we were charged for salad bar that was included. When I asked the waitress said there is a sign posted by the salad bar saying it's an up charge. I replied, so if it was all we could eat, shouldn't they have made sure everything was stocked so we could enjoy it? I also asked about the soup selection that was posted. She said, those are our weekday offerings, we don't change the sign. I asked why they didn't at least bring out more bowls. She replied, didn't you have enough? Not if its it all you can eat. Truly, it's all they allow you to eat. Chicken was good, received two stars. Service and staff lousy. Could easily go lower on score for staff. read more

We had the worst service that we have ever had at a restaurant. We were there for dinner 4-8-2016. The dining room was fairly empty 2 tables of 4. We decided to eat at one of the tables in the bar area. I mentioned to the waitress that we would like to see dinner menus. " You'll have to talk to the bartender before you get to me." She said. Wait, what? That was the start. We finally got into the presence of the waitresses and ordered. We waited an hour for food. When my fish arrived I asked for extra tar tar, and my father asked for some apple sauce. She said ok and walked away. We had no napkins or utensils. The waitress was now behind the bar. I walked over and asked her for them, she rolled her eyes at me! I said we finally got our food, we would like to eat it. We didn't see her again. My father went up to the kitchen window and got our tar tar and apple sauce. I had to go up to the bar to ask for a box and the check. When I mentioned the sub par service to the bartender she told me that I can't expect the same service as if we would eaten in the dining room. Only one table of 2 in the dining room at this time. Do we pay the same price if we eat over here? I asked. The customer is always wrong at Old Town Hall. The food was not great. My advice? Keep driving. read more
