Tonkatsu ramen with nori and egg added.

Finally made time to stop in today for lunch... and then dinner at Maido sushi cafe. Always thought the closest ramen was in Monterey but I'm glad I found Maido close by considering I live only a few blocks away in Marina. lunch started with the ahi tuna roll(spicy). Was very surprised how nice the chunks of tuna in the roll were. Wasn't just amazing quality fish but also great portions. Definitely good value for 12$. Also ordered the hamachi nigiri for 7.50. Food came out in less than 7 min. Same thing with the hamachi, I was very happy with the quality and portion. Finished my meal drinking a Ramune. I really love all the Japanese snacks and drinks they have available to purchase. Definitely worth the money if you're looking for great quality and affordable sushi made quick. Came back for dinner with my wife because we've been really craving ramen lately. The Ramen was incredible. Great noodles and broth. The topping were also amazing. Egg was cooked perfectly and soaked in soy sauce. The star of the ramen was the chashu though. Pork was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. No part of the meat was tough. It melted in your mouth with just enough resistance to improve the mouth feel. Last time I had ramen this good was in Japan. Overall, the food was top quality, the service was fast and the staff was very kind. Love when you not only enjoy the food but can enjoy a brief conversation with the team. You can clearly tell they are passionate about the food and drinks they offer. Amber, the cashier was telling me about the outside eating area and how the owner planted the bamboo. Really added to the ambiance and felt like a little nook we could enjoy our meal in. Also ordered the mango matcha late which was excellent. We're looking forward to returning for their pour over coffee which I was told the owner roasts his own beans.

10/10 one of my most notable restaurants from this trip. I don't go back to places usually but here I would. Lovely people 10/10. They are actually Japanese and get unique things from japan. The sushi is fresh with huge chunks of fish that's isn't grounded up. The sushi is simple with a seasoning that coats the outside that is actually pretty spicy. However they do have a small menu. We also got the ramen and I was a bit apprehensive but it was phenomenal. I never drink the broth of ramen but I had to here. It was so flavorful and not overly salty like some other places. The chasu had the most brilliant char on it. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely have to come here!

It was our first time here, upon arrival the barista told us about the menu and helped us with any questions. She was super sweet! We ordered two tempura shrimp rolls, two spam masubi, salmon onigiri, and matcha drinks. Everything was great!! We loved the spam masubi the most as well as the matcha. It's a cute shop with amazing staff who are very friendly and attentive. I will be coming back!

Right at the corner right next to Domino's- it might be a little hard to find if you're looking at the general view of the plaza. Cute family owned place with a good selection for their menu. I believe they started off as a catering business and eventually opened up a restaurant. Staff is very friendly, it definitely gives off the local intimate feel which I love! My mom and I ordered the tempura roll and it was a sharable snack. The quality was also there. I was exited to see new types of drinks you don't usually see in the area. I moved up north to the bay recently so seeing a place that offers drinks such as hojicha latte in Marina was great to see We visited their opening day and there were a handful of other people there. It was a bit of a wait due to there being only 2 people in the back and one person at the front, so just a heads up if you are looking for a grab and go place. I'm sure once they get more staffing it'll be much more quicker :)

The food is 10/10 simply delicious! The ramen is to die for. The poke bowls are also amazing. The miso soup is delicious. The many and varied drinks are just so good. Also the sushi is amazing. All food is fresh and appealing. Even our 3 year old loves the noodles and miso soup. Plus they have Japanese food and drinks you can purchase right there. The service is great. People are so nice. They really make u feel good. They smile and will engage. Ambiance is good but the only slightly negative is their store is a little small. But the bathrooms are clean and nice and really no complaints. In conclusion - if you want to eat the best ramen noodles and poke bowls in not only the Monterey county but also San Jose - try Maido's. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. We've been eating there for close to a year and we keep coming back for more. I've told several friends even my chiropractor and they all love it.

Maido Catering now has a brick & motar store front in the strip mall behind McDonald's in Marina. It is literally next door to Domino's pizza. Maido Sushi is and still are a staple at local Farmers Market around monterey County. So excited to see they have a permanent location. . Cute place with a few tables and a small outdoor patio area. My sushi was made to order and great options of drinks including hot match tea. Cold drinks in cooker and a small selection of Japanese snacks. I also spied some spam musubi on the counter as well. Ordered California Roll $8.00 spicy Tuna Salad roll $10.00 Both were great and super friendly service. Support local businesses in your community. #supportlocalbusiness

First timer, and will now be a regular customer! I got their ramen and it's prob the best in the area. I added on an egg and corn :) I also ordered their hojicha ice tea with the foam and delicious!! The girl ringing my family up was very sweet and made us feel welcomed. The place was sooo cutely decorated for Halloween

Absolutely delicious! Love the simplicity yet authentic vibe/decor. Bathroom was so clean btw. Just like Japan with the bidet. Service was friendly, not super quick but I'm ok with that. They had a few people ahead of me waiting first. Price is fair for the quality you get. We aren't in town often, but when we are, I have definitely found my new spot to grab a bite/drink. Try that matcha drink. Worth it. I did ask for less sweet and it came out perfectly. I am one that likes my coffee/drinks not too sweet though, so do what works for you.

Spam musubi Chicken teriyaki musubi Strawberry matcha latte Kokuto matcha latte

We had: Spam musubi Chicken teriyaki musubi Which btw were so good. Every time we go, never misses. Drink were: Strawberry matcha latte Kokuto matcha latte First time having them, but not the last. They were not overwhelmingly sweet, nor watered down. Loved them! Place is pretty chill vibe, and the employees greet you with a smile. They look like they enjoy working there.

It was very busy when we went but customer service was still top notch. Thank you random guy on TikTok who recommended this spot. So happy we found our new go to sushi restaurant.

Family owned restaurant, 4 stars for food, 5 stars due to great service and friendly owners!…read more We wanted to try a new sushi spot and this place had decent reviews so we said lets give it a shot. Its a small restaurant in a plaza in Castroville nothing fancy, but has character, and murals on the walls were kind of cool. Prices on the rolls were pricey, around $20 each, but what isn't costly nowadays. It was a Saturday at 3:30, sat and greeted right away by Yolanda. A younger guy arrived and took our drink orders, two large Sapporo beers that came out with large frozen mugs. We started with the shrimp tempura app, which was very good, the batter was light and fresh. We asked for a sweet chili sauce to dip it in and Yolanda brought it out, which we like better than the thinner dipping sauce. We also each had a miso soup. Next we got our three rolls: Red Roll, Pancho Roll and Lady Roll. All looked great, decent amount of fish, fresh, very saucy. All tasted good, but to me the extra sauce was too much and distracted from the base flavor of the rolls. My guy was ok with it as likes a lot of sauce. The other thing was we pinpointed a bitter taste and discovered it was the cucumber with thick skin, so we took it out of our rolls. We finished most of our rolls and took some to go. We ended up chatting with owners Frankie and Yolanda. We talked about the sauciness of the rolls and were told they are catering to the preferences of the guests, which completely makes sense. We also really liked that a lot of the rolls come with jalapenos, again catering to the customers. We will definitely be back and the next time Frankei suggested the Chirashi bowl, which is one of my favorite things usually, and will mention to go easy on the sauce. I highly recommend trying this place as they provide quality food, service, and just seem like hard working people running a business who care about their customers.

The restaurant has beautiful vaulted ceilings and great vibes. Only note was the music was all over the place but not a big deal at all. We ordered a lot since we were both very hungry and left satisfied. Starters: Spicy garlic edamame - great flavor and not overly done (5/5) Shrimp & Veggie tempura- perfect amount of batter (5/5) Gyoza (5/5) Mains: Chicken Teriyaki served with miso soup, salad, and steamed rice. (4/5) only because the salad while good had a little too much dressing, not a deal breaker. Sake sashimi 5/5 Tiger roll 5/5 Would definitely recommend as a great sushi spot and will be back!

Sushi was yummy!…read more Happy they had room for our party of 7. Service was pretty prompt even when the place got packed soon after we arrived. Spacious interior and a separate room for private party. Agedashi tofu and the sushi rolls (Aspen, Sun and Whole-Hearted) were delicious and I'd highly recommend for a good variety. I appreciated the freshness of the fish, rice to fish ratio and creativity of each roll. They also have vegan rolls. Prices were a little elevated for the smaller portions of sushi - $18 and up for each roll but they were tasty enough. There's 60 min street parking nearby.
