We booked a deep cleaning service with Rosa and Mary who were just wonderful! They arrived right on time and got straight to work. You could tell they really cared about doing a thorough job. Every corner, surface, and detail was spotless by the end. They were also understanding about our cat being in one of rooms while they cleaned, and agreed to clean it last so she could have a safe space from the vacuum. Our home feels so fresh and clean now. I wouldn't say that this was necessarily worth the money -- they did a pretty basic job in our house but didn't wipe down any of the blinds. We had booked the service for two hours but they stayed a little over an hour. Our search for a really good cleaner continues, but unfortunately I probably wouldn't book them again. I have been using Maids in Brown since last year. I am very happy with their cleaning. After a long work day, coming to a clean home makes me very relaxed. They are very detailed and friendly. I love that I don't have to be home when they are cleaning. I like their easy scheduling and payment system. The other plus thing is they have a short arrival window. Most maid service companies I used before have three to four hours of arrival window. This makes it hard to schedule your day around. The Team did a great job cleaning my apartment - truly sparkling! My frustration came from the coordination & transparency in pricing. My original appointment was 3pm and I received a call at 3pm the day of asking if they could come another day. I understand things happen, but after receiving 3-4 confirmation emails I was a little bothered. When they came my rescheduled day, the Team was actively cleaning my apartment and I received a call that I'd be charged an extra $25 because the Team needed longer to clean (15 min). No where on their website did they make clear that the price wasn't fixed, or that it was based on time. When I asked they said it was because it was the first time at my apartment so they didn't know how much time to expect. If that's their policy, I understand but the communication needs to be a lot more thorough & clear. read more

We have used them biweekly and results have been mixed. The initial cleaning was good, but follow-up cleanings have been varied. On this last visit, many areas were left looking maybe sort of wiped down but not clean (like counters and stove still had food splashes which we routinely wipe down so largely looked untouched). I watched as one of the women quickly ran mop over the main floor, missing about half of it. Off days happen. Even on a good day though, their biweekly cleaning service is more on par with other companies' "touch up" services. For example, they do not seem to wipe down baseboards or moulding, make beds, or wipe down windows on French doors. Yet, the price is the same as other local companies that include these as part of regular biweekly cleanings. There are some clear pros. Cleaners have always been friendly and were responsive to preferences (though tough if you don't speak Spanish). The owner is super responsive to messages. Scheduling has been easy. read more

Echoing other reviews that there is a total lack of transparency on the pricing - particularly that the $124 "standard cleaning" is strictly for one hour only and that they will charge extra for "needing extra time." This was not communicated beforehand, and as such, they ended up skipping most of the necessary cleaning I needed (like bathroom floors, dusting, etc)... $124 for one-hour is an extremely high price for an OK quality job. I've decided to try this cleaning service relying on google reviews and their website description. Not only did the personnel come 40 minutes earlier than we scheduled, but it has also not provided regular services listed on their website. Honestly, I don't know why there are so many positive reviews when clearly my case was a bad one (1 bdr. apt, 750 sq.f.). Here are the services which were not provided: 1. floors in the living room, kitchen, and bathroom were not moped, moreover I had to do extra vacuum cleaning in the kitchen 2. outside of cabinets in the kitchen were not cleaned 3. not all vents are cleaned (living room and bathroom) 4. toilet was not cleaned outside 5. bedroom was not cleaned. I have also included cleaning the refrigerator and it appeared that the time cleaning for the refrigerator is included in the regular clean time. Check the pictures to see the results. Maids in Brown did a move-out cleaning on our townhouse at the end of the lease period. They did a great job, cleaning top to bottom and bringing it to a great state. Even cleaned the fridge and oven so that they look almost like new. Pros - Automatic credit card charging which is convenient - Easy to reschedule through their booking website - Thorough cleaning - Was able to ask questions before hiring them entirely through Yelp messaging - Small window for arrival (1.5 hours) which helps plan my day around them - Polite staff - Active registration with the State Corporation Commission - Asks me to confirm everything is acceptable before they leave - Punctual - Willing to customize cleaning a bit. I tell them to skip some things to finish faster sometimes. - Has a website which provides an estimate Cons - They were running late one time, but I wasn't notified. I called their manager (Winta) and was told that they would be arriving late at a new time (just a half hour after the end of the scheduled window). We have been using them consistently and used to get very good cleaning. However they seem to have a new crew. The past two cleans they haven't cleaned all the bedrooms. Today the nursery was left uncleaned. In addition, they didn't take out the trash (I had to do it). The girls left after an hour (seemed to be early). When I asked why they didn't clean the nursery or take out the trash, they said they forgot. They put all the kids toys on the changing table and didn't put any of them back. Seemed to be more a social hour for the girls that showed up. Disappointing to be charged 282.00 and have this kind of service. At the start, when we first started using Maids in Brown, they were wonderful. The work they did felt like magic to us and we wanted to keep going with them. However, after that initial day, the quality of the work started to decline, in particular the past three sessions. They call about coming early and then ask about leaving early. Last month, they were supposed to clean a full 2400 sq ft house but asked to leave early and promised to do the full house next time. That next time came, they came early, and asked to leave early. We called and asked for a rationale and received a number of them: the pandemic has forced them no to enforce absence policies, we are in Washington, DC and it takes too long to get there, and the employees are mothers and need to get back to their families by 5:00PM. They didn't have a full explanation as to how those responses applied to us. If you don't have enough employees, you need to drop some jobs then. If DC is too hard to get to, then why take jobs there? If they have to be home by 5:00PM, who is scheduled after us? Our window is supposed to be 2:30PM to 4:00PM- so if they are supposed to be home by 5:00PM, who is scheduled after us? Our thoughts were that they had other more lucrative houses to go to, but they denied that was the case. In their rush, they did not clean well so we had to go back through. The agent said they are thorough if it's part of their list of what they clean- I assume vacuuming the carpet, sweeping the floor, wiping down the tables are part of their list. If not, I do question what they work on. We were also told they wouldn't come do the job if they would do a quality job, so why did they come? We were told we could call them back to finish the job, but you can't tell us they need to rush out and say they can come back, that's contradictory. The worst of it all is that we never have them clean a complete house- they don't do the bedrooms as we request so it's just the dining room, living room, kitchen, and sitting room for the same time as full 2400 sq ft home. Certainly our home can be cluttered, we have two kids, but that is why we don't ask them to clean the bedrooms and move as much of the clutter out of the way. But, that's also why we had hired them, we needed the help to keep up. read more
