This business has gone done hill since the older husband and wife owned it. Then some guy bought it and he he would always be at JD Allison's bar hugging a bar stool while slamming drinks. During covid me and two other family members had covid relief checks stolen from our p.o. boxes a total of 7 checks between three family members. Now the girl working in here works about 2 hours a day. Place is closed by noon and she has an attitude when you ask her why you can't access the business. The writing is on the wall. The owner of this business is the only one that works there. He has no legitimate record of incoming items held at this location. Is inventory or record of consist of him grabbing a big pile and going through them one by one. Package was delivered there by FedEx but he never updated the information or put it in the system. Now suddenly the package is lost. Walked in looking for help yelling for somebody and nobody was around several minutes later he came through the door and that's when I learned he's the owner and soul worker at this location. Extremely disorganized. I definitely do not recommend your packages being dropped off or delivered to this location. This place pisses me off. I had a few packages on hold there. I go in at 12:40 (before their posted "lunch" hours from 1-2) and no one was there. I stood there for 10 minutes thinking maybe someone was just in the back. Nothing. I leave and come back at 2:30 (which is well past their lunch hours) and still, no one was there. I call five times and no answer. On the sixth call a guy picks up and i asked if anyone was in the office to which he answered with "I picked up the phone, didn't I?" Which was super rude. DO NOT USE FOR FED EX IF YOU NEED IT QUICK. Closed for lunch "1-2pm" daily. Went by on Monday, 11/9, to see why my packet could not be delivered. The sign said closed from 1-2pm and @ 2:25 and it was still closed. The next day I called prior to the package being delivered and was told that Fed Ex delivers in the afternoon. Called back 12 minutes later after being told by Fed Ex that my package was delivered and was told rudely that it was delivered after the prior conversation. ....And then was hung up on after I told the man I would be over to pick it up. Again more rudeness when I picked up the package. I tried to show my door tag and ID and was told that he didn't need to see it. The package of computer equipment was worth hundreds of dollars. I walked into this quaint mom and pop local mailing outpost (Iove and support these if you don't know me by now) wanting to make a return on a rather large and heavy package. The company that I was returning it to did not provide a return label and this transaction had to be done from scratch and I unfortunately, had to eat up the cost. I understood that the transaction would be pricey and asked where the mailing slips were offering to write it up and get it started. No slips here, the information had to be typed in manually. The salesperson was of no absolute help whatsoever except of course to tape up and weight my box, stick on the label and take my money. I struggled to lift the box up and over to the top of the counter while the salesperson watched in entertainment. I felt like I provided courteous and friendly talk without being too "sunny". When other customers came in before, during and after my transaction (4 in total not including a UPS employee who dropped off packages) they were helped instantly considering that I was still there, big package and all. My mistake was thinking this particular neighborhood shipping and mailing retailer would provide me with consistent, if not friendlier and helpful service. I can't image what the previous reviewer expected from a shipping store .. The reviewer is correct about one thing, Mail Depot of Upland does not have "slips" that can be hand written, but I don't know of any shipping label that can be hand written anymore. Most if not all shipping labels need to be typed into a computer and printed with a bar-code now days. Sounds to me like the Mail Depot was able to handle the transaction, everything from take the package, weigh it, print a label and ship it ... Even with three UPS Stores closer to my house I have chosen to use this local family owned store for years. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and have been able to handle all my notary, shipping, fax, copying, and mail box needs for many years. Their prices are VERY reasonable and I've never had a problem. I have recommended this store many times to my friends and family. When I went back to ask about what happened (because my tracking showed that my package wasn't even scanned), the employee just shrugged and carelessly told me he doesn't know. I will never return to this business to handle my shipping needs. There wasn't even a pretense of friendliness or kindness to be had. There was no greeting when I walked in and after a bit of a wait, I told the elder woman behind the counter that I only needed a box to fit the oddly shaped item I needed to ship and for it to be weighed. She looked at me funny about it, but retrieved the box. She set it against the counter and then turned to help someone else. I took up the box and began trying to put it together so I could place my item inside to be weighed. She noticed me working with the box and grabbed some tape and as I tried to help her tape the box, by holding it together she looked at me and bluntly stated, "Don't help me." I smiled, stepped back and let her do her thing. Again she stepped back and then just looked at me. I smiled and said I needed the box to be weighed, she sighed and then picked up the box and weighed it. She stated the weight, set the box back on the counter and just looked at me again. Uncomfortable to say the least. I asked her the price for the box, anxious to be on my way and when she told me the price I handed over my debit card. "No. I won't take that. It has to be for a $10 charge or more." *sigh* I asked where the closest ATM is and found it. I cost me $2 to get the cash out and I wasn't too pleased about it. FedEx redirected a delivery here because it requires a signature. Their posted hours at 9 am to 5 M-F. And the slip from Fedex indicates that they are closed on Saturdays. I work an hour an a half away and I do not get home by 5, so I took off 2 hours early from work today to pick up my package at 4:30 only to find that they were CLOSED! They left a note stating " Had doctor's appointment. Will be back at 2". Again, it was 4:30 on a Thursday. I called Fedex to complain and they wouldn't help me because my package requires a signature. I asked if I could pick up my package at Walgreens, which is what they used to do, but apparently they changed to use smaller postal centers like this one. I have nothing against small businesses, especially since my husband owns a business himself, but this place needs to have reliable business hours or else they should just drop this service. I waited patiently for her to acknowledge me. Several minutes go by...she finally comes to stand in front of me but says nothing. I tell her I want to send a fax. She grabs the paper, turns her back to me and goes to the fax. I recite the number, she said it didn't go through. I told her it was an efax number, and sometimes you have to send it again to go through. She rolled her eyes and said she was not going to try again. Why not?! Since I try to support small businesses whenever possible, I've used Mail Depot a few times now. Just strictly for mailing packages. It's much faster than the regular post office and the woman who has helped me each time has been able to answer any questions I've had. The prices seem like they're the same as using the post office directly. All told, a positive experience. read more

I've used the services here now for about 4 years, my dad had used them for many years and knew the elderly gentleman who once ran it, he and my dad are now gone though. The service carries on, the elderly woman who now runs it had it dumped into her lap when the original owner died. A person has to be reasonable though, understanding that she does the best she can, and I find that just giving her a bit of my own assist really makes things go a long way- placing the large packages where they need to go for pickup, etc. This place is a real convenience to the residents of central Upland, and it's not a modern push-button type of business- it's people helping people.
