Dr. Montalvo is very nice and spent time to review and discuss my history along with plan of care going forward. I primarily come to this practice for periodontal care of my long term gum recession. Dr. Montalvo is very thorough, gives you his undivided attention during procedure, and is so much more personable than Dr. Soyster was. WORST Dental experience ever with Dr. Soyster and her staff! I had a very painful xray experience (I eventually had to tell the hygienist to stop at one point because it hurt to bad) I then had to teach the hygienist how to floss my teeth with a bottom wire. I have very healthy teeth and should have been at the office for max and hour...I was there close to 3 because no one knew what they were doing. When I went to check out, I waited another 20 minutes until finally giving up and leaving. When I went to change dentists I wanted my xrays sent to the new dentist I found and they wanted to charge me a $35 admin fee (to press send on an email). I told them no, they are legally my xrays and they can send them to me and I will send them to the new dentist. After arguing for 20 minutes (probably where the $35 is needed) I eventually gave up. DO NOT GOOOOO!!!!! read more

I have seen Dr Soyster on and off for a few years. From my experience she over charges patients for anything she can and then claims they need things to have healthy teeth. I was told I needed a deep cleaning (2 visits) which was gonna cost me around $800. I was told by the other dentist that my teeth are great and I don't need a deep cleaning. Every office visit they charged me $47 for fluoride and didn't say this was an option to have or not, I was told by another dentist that fluoride is not necessary in adults only kids unless a specific reason which I did not need. My last straw, was that I paid during my office visit the $47 and just recently I got a bill that claimed I never made the payment. Luckily my HSA credit card tracks all of those transactions and I was able to prove to them that I made the payment and they took it off, but what a headache I've only had two cavities in my whole life and take really great care of my teeth. I have good insurance but it always seems that I am charged for something when I got to this dentist. read more

When I first met Dr. Soyster for a cleaning i didn't think much of her. She quickly introduced herself and appeared professional. I had to come back for a cavity. My statement had a $50 fee for a gel that was not covered under my insurance. I asked her if she could explain more about what the gel was, it's purpose, did it have a benefit? She said it reduced sensitivity/pain after repairing a cavity. I asked for more information since I didn't want to pay $50 for something I could go without. I specifically asked if the data strongly supported its use on a patient like me and if she truly saw a benefit (no other dentist has ever recommended any type of gel like this before) she got all defensive and said she was my dentist and I should trust what she says. She didn't try to explain anything further. Not sure why she would recommend something if she can't support it's use. I went to another dentist and it turns out she left an air bubble and now I need to have that repaired! read more

Dr. Soyster's patient manner is one of the worst I've ever experienced in a health professional. My first run in with her poor patient manner was when I tried to give her feedback about how important it was to me that she be made aware of my priorities with regards to areas in my mouth I wanted treated as a priority after she deliberately omitted telling me about care/procedure that she felt I needed. She became defensive and was not very gracious in accepting the feedback on how to provide better care for me. Though I didn't feel particularly heard, transferring to a different dentist midway through treatment was not ideal so I hoped for the best for a continuing relationship moving forward. Unfortunately that was not to be. On a subsequent visit when I was confused because I was given different information by one of her technicians, she became rude, condescending and treated me like I was stupid. Instead of explaining herself when I expressed confusion, she kept repeating the same words over and over as if saying it more than once makes it more clear to someone who is not a dentist. When that didn't work she repeated herself again, only slower this time, as if the speed with which she said it was the issue and not that she wasn't being clear or explaining herself well. I wouldn't say it was the worst experience I've ever had with a health care professional, but it is definitely in the top five. Would give 0 stars if I could. (Please note that this review is definitely not a reflection on Dr. Cangini, who sees patients at Dr. Soyster's office once a month through contract - Dr. Cangini is an amazing Oral Surgeon who I highly recommend. It's a shame he's tied to such a horrible general practice dentist.) read more

I was very impressed with my experience at Gregory Lane Family Implant Dentistry. I had a fractured tooth and abcessed gum. I was dreding to have my tooth extracted. Dr. Soyster prescribed an anti-biotic to rid my abcess and scheduled me to have my tooth extracted. My tooth had been causing me pain for a long time and I feared how much more pain the extraction was going to cause. Dr. Soyster showed me my x-ray and the area that was infected. I realized that what she proposed was the best plan. Surprisingly, after I was numbed-up, I did not feel a thing. My tooth was extracted, my infected tissue was removed and I was out of the office in one hour. I was given cold compresses and told what to do if there was bleeding or pain afterwards but I was fine, I am looking forward to filling my gap and using the right side of my teeth again. This is one of the most professionally run dentist offices I have been in. The staff is super friendly and helpful, always ready to assist, answer questions and ensure you have the best experience possible. The team working on you is amazing, friendly, best in their fields and really know what they are doing. The things that surprised me most were all of the ghighly specilized options they offer. From sedation dentistry (although not something I wanted, I know a lot of people who just want to go in, get the work done, without the stress of being fully awake during the procedure.) as well as the fact that they have a true in-house periodontal specialist (wow the amount of training and schooling to truly be able to be called a specialist is crazy, glad I did research to find out what truly qualifies someone to be called specialist). If you want quality care in a comfortable (and good looking) environment by true professionals, this is the place to go. read more

If possible, I would give this huckster / snake oil practice zero stars. Be prepared to be hit with some unexpected, unnecessary charge on your every visit without exception. I am a medical professional. Though not a dentist, I'm perfectly capable of evaluating the validity of most dental services. This office has carefully honed the practice of unexpected add-ons to a fine point. It exercises no restraint in routinely foisting additional services not covered by insurance for which there is little, if any, medical justification that far exceed the 'best practices' standard. It's financial 'death by a thousand cuts. Unlike many, this office insists on charging for PPE, among only a minority that do, a part of the routine overhead incurred to serve the public right now. There is no need to do this, especially at the inflated fees charged here. Other unexpected charges follow soon. Unless one has soft enamel or serious gum disease, there is no need to do a fluoride treatment for most adults, yet this is stock-in-trade for this practice. When I arrived for a wisdom tooth extraction, I was informed that I would need to pay out-of-pocket for "irrigation" of the extraction site because my insurance wouldn't cover the charge of $120 - the reason, of course is that the insurance company understood it to be unnecessary. How anyone could possibly find it within the realm of reason to charge a patient $120 for flushing an extraction site with saline (mild salt) solution is unfathomable. I declined. When confronted by Soyster, DDS, I was informed it would be necessary for me to accept the charge for irrigation. When I observed that it didn't conform to the standard of best practices, she responded, "That's the way I do it." In other words, she had no medical justification. The ONLY justification was that she wanted to charge me $120 to do NOTHING. She turned and exited the operatory. Later, when I went to another area dentist and related my experience, the doctor's response was, "I don't know what irrigation in that context means." I do. She either had a Hawaiian condo payment coming due, her children's private school tuition payment upcoming, or the next installment on a sailboat was imminent. In any case, it's not my responsibility to cover her luxurious lifestyle. My partner fell for the fluoride scam in the past. When I pointed to the data, she declined on her next visit, however was unprepared for the scam that followed. Instead, the hygienist strongly recommended an "antibiotic rinse" after routine cleaning - that for a nominal charge of EIGHTY DOLLARS, again, not covered by her dental insurance. Thinking that she had a history of some gum disease, though now much improved by simply having more frequent cleanings, she consented. Before leaving, she asked the hygienist what the "antibiotic" was. She is a medical professional also. Imagine her surprise when informed that the so-called "antibiotic" was actually chlorhexidine, a common disinfectant - certainly NOT an antibiotic! (Frankly, topical antibiotics applied to a surface aren't of much use in the vast majority of infections anyway.) So, eighty dollars more into Soyster's little slush fund... My experience on an earlier visit signaled this practice had all the earmarks of one 'guided' by a management consultant company, so I inquired about a rather well-known one (its name is a kind of silver, as in "British Pound ______"). Soyster stated that SHE wasn't a client of said management consulting firm, however her husband, a dental specialist, WAS. Based on my observations, it's likely that Soyster and husband are getting a "two-fer." She's providing all the evidence to prove it. The cardinal signs include an office staff that speaks to you with honey-coated words and goes out of its way to attend to your every comfort and whim, a technique Mabel has gotten down pat. Once you're settled, they offer you a beverage and work hard to establish a personal relationship - That's to get you relaxed so as to break down the sensitivity of your Baloney Meter. Another sign is that you're given a "Treatment Plan" for your review and (especially) to get your signature consenting to the specified procedures and, of course, acknowledging financial responsibility. You should expect any self-respecting grifter practice to send you a client survey later on that dwells heavily on your impressions of the staff.., but dental procedures.., not so much - and THEY DO. A major grifter signal is that you always encounter at least one additional charge for a procedure that you didn't sign up for when you originally made the appointment - you know - something not quite as costly as the actual procedure (the one you actually need), but more than enough that it snugs up your budget just a bit - and, of course, not covered by your insurance plan, because it's really NOT NECESSARY. My advice: Hide your wallet and RUN NOW while you can...! read more

You should not advertise as a Family Dentist if you cannot deal with children. Dr. Soyster was horrible to my son. He came home crying. He has a low pain tolerance and a learning disability and instead being understanding she berated him, yelled at him and demanded he look at her in the eye when she was yelling at him because he flinched when she kept sticking him and didn't have enough numbing medicine. To top it off she rolled her eyes at her assistant about him in front of him. Nice going. Very professional. Her office staff is nice. However they recently told me we needed to pay for a very expensive test that wasn't covered by insurance that the other dentist in her office told me we didn't need it and he didn't understand why they would charge me for that since he hadn't examined my son yet. He is honest and had excellent rapore with my son. I suggest they get music with headphones so that those patients who have adversity to pain and the drill noise can listen to music while they are being treated. read more

The entire staff was friendly and patient. They answered all my questions thoroughly and kindly provided me with all the info I requested. Dr Cangini has the best bedside manner and was kind and reassuring throughout the surgery. I wasn't in any pain or discomfort. Dr Cangini is very gentle in administering the numbing shots. (You will literally not feel a thing!) He has a very gentle touch and you will not feel like your head/mouth has been mangled afterwards. The surgery time went by much quicker than I thought (vs the long, slow torture I feared it might be); it might be because he has a relaxing playlist and joking manner that put you at ease throughout. I highly recommend Dr Cangini and his team. Definitely chose them if you want a stress free and painless experience! read more

I was very self conscious about the condition of my teeth which is why I haven't been to the dentist in a loooooooong time. But the wonderful staff at Dr Soyster's office made all of my fears disappear!!! From the initial phone call to set up my first appointment to the present day cleaning I'm doing,the ladies here at the office are all beyond wonderful. The warm reception you get when you walk in helps to ease all of your worries / concerns. The expert techs know what they are doing and get you in and going with a sense confidence you don't see in everyday business. The Dr Soyster is kind, genuine and professional. As a whole the staff gives you various options on different procedures that best fit your life and your wallet. If six stars was an option I would do that. First and Last time here. I booked an appointment on Zocdoc and after that realized they don't accept Denti-Cal insurance, so I canceled the appointment at the same time. After a half hour received a phone call from the clinic and explained to them why I canceled the appointment. I told here I have a Denti-Cal insurance, so she said we don't accept Denti-Cal. I told here okay, that's fine, BUT she said what problem do you have, so I told here i'm not exactly sure what it is. After that she said, you can come do FREE consultation and see what you have. The next day,I went there and said hi, and she said what's your name. I said my name and wasn't in the last because I have canceled the appointment on Zocdoc and went there regarding the Phone call that I got form their office, and one of them said your Peter from Zocdoc. I said YEAH that me. Then, they gave me a form to fill, I took the form and spend 30 minutes on it. Then after, she said your insurance is not gonna cover that, and you have to PAY for the consultation, so I said I know my insurance's not covering this, but you told me to come and do Free consultation and see what you have. Then said I didn't say that- so I'm a lier, and the consultation will cost you $125 which freaked me out because I told here I have a Denti-Cal, and she said come do Free consultation. In sum, pad experience and not planing to go again even if I have the most valuable insurance company because of the unclear guidance which leads to waste of time, gas money and making my day so un-COOL!!! read more

I am definitely with her for guidance - has my total vote of intellectual analysis and reflective capabilities to Best Resolve and Make It Happen for an optimal outcome. Great dentist! I went in today as an emergency: I had a toothache. From the start, everybody at the office was super nice and, even though I did not have an appointment, they all tried hard to accommodate me. Dr Soyster was patient and compassionate, she really took the time to explain me what the problem was with my tooth and how to fix it. I decided to have the tooth taken out. she took it out in 5 minutes with NO PAIN and soon I was on my way home without the toothache and with pain meds in case I needed it (I ended up not having any pain afterwards and not using the pain meds at all). It was overall a great experience, I have already made an appointment to go back. read more

For YEARS i have been fearful of going to the dentist. (I know gross lol). Coming here was the best decision. I felt welcome here. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Angela the hygienist was very kind and takes pride in her work. Not once did i feel any pain when she was doing the cleaning. Dr. Soyster is a very sweet lady and will recommend what is best for you. She knows exactly what shes talking about and will explain everything to you. Belen the RDA is awesome, she makes you feel like you have a friend in the office.
