I just had my first ever appointment in the Allergy clinic with Dr Mary Lee Wong for treatment of my allergies and asthma, including a consultation and allergy panel test. I wanted to write this review about her and the staff because it was one of the most amazing first-time medical appointments I've ever experienced as a chronically ill person. I have never been to this facility before and I always get severe anxiety before new appointments with new doctors. The reason for that is because I'm a very sickly person with many severe environmental, chemical and food allergies plus asthma. I also have chronic pain, multiple injuries and other recurring symptoms that I'm trying to pinpoint and get a diagnosis for a possible auto-immune disease. It can be very stressful for me to experience explaining my medical history to a new doctor because usually they don't listen or speak to me in a condescending way, which in turns makes me very exhausted and frustrated re-explaining the same thing over and over only to be met with vague blanket advice because they just want to rush me out of there. And the majority of new appointments I end up leaving in tears with no concrete help or treatment plan. I'm a very detail oriented person, I keep a 2 inch thick binder of all my medical records, tests, vaccines, medications, etc dating back 10 years and organized by specialty. I understand that it can be jarring for some doctors when I present this to them because they are not used to someone being so organized, prepared and detailed so sometimes they tend to brush it off because they don't want to deal with it, don't care, overwhelmed or just assume I'm a hypochondriac or drug-seeker. I find this very frustrating when medical professionals just don't listen to me or trust that I know and understand my body and my symptoms. I also feel like I have to dress business casual as if I'm going to a job interview because I also find that doctors don't take me seriously due to being heavily tattooed and assumptions about my pain tolerance. So I tend to cover them up and wear collared shirts and trousers to appear "professional" even though I'd much rather wear sweatpants! Even before I went to my appointment, the person I spoke to on the phone beforehand named Anissa was very kind and helpful. As I arrived for my appointment, the front desk staff was very nice and surprised that I already came prepared with my filled out forms (thanks to Anissa making sure I received them via email prior to my appointment). I didn't wait long before I was called back and I don't remember the assistant's name but she did keep a Hello Kitty badge on her scrubs. She performed my environmental panel test and explained each step thoroughly. I got my results within 20 minutes. They also referred me to a separate location to go same-day in order to get my bloodwork done for the food allergy test. Now I'd like to explain my amazing experience with Dr Mary Wong. Right off the bat she was so warm and welcoming and I felt safe immediately. Not only did she listen to everything I said, but she also embraced my attention to detail / my medical binder and asked to see all the relevant paperwork to make photocopies. She also took the most extensive notes of my appointment I've ever seen. She even asked me to review them to make sure nothing was missed! In the end she had 12 pages of notes regarding my medical history, a summary of my appointment and she even asked for every single one of my doctor's names and contact information so she can reach out to them later in order to get a full scope of my symptoms and experiences once we get my results. I mean wow I wish all my appointments with new doctors were like this. She showed me so much care, patience and empathy so that I wouldn't feel stressed in any way. I was very grateful for this experience considering most of my experiences with doctors are stressful with either no real answers or it just plain ruins my day! So I highly highly highly recommend seeing her for your allergies or asthma if you're a chronically ill spoonie girlie like me! She even had these cute rubber ducky earrings which I thought were so adorable, and she told me I should dress how I want next time and wear Hello Kitty if I wanted and I wouldn't be judged :) Please book your next appointment with her!! read more

Maimonides is the WORST hospital. The Emergency room is a Zoo. No one cares and they don't look at you for HOURS. and even when they complete the initial intake, we waited almost 20 hours for any type of relief. this place was a freaking zoo!! Mad house!! Nurses overextended with patient load!! Patients screaming for help and not getting it. My wife was in ER for Head trauma post fall. She didn't even get a neurology exam by a doctor. Uncleaned blood near my wife's bed-disgusting. I've going to Maimonides Hospital for over 25 years. My wife was there close to 4 hrs. Briefly seen by one doctor twice. Care was mediocre at best. They need to get more nurses and less interns!!!! read more

I had a deeply troubling experience with Dr. Ramjit. He didn't complete the full procedure as per the orders of the other doctor. Failed to collect the sample for testing, or collected and lost it. This was a serious breach of trust and professionalism and disregard for patient care. I have also discovered that he is currently facing a separate medical malpractice lawsuit filed by another patient. While I can only speak to my own experience, this negligent care from Dr. Amjit is deeply concerning. Based on my experience i highly recommended you see another provider. read more

Thank you everyone here for what you do. I was here for 5 hours on Sunday 5am for emergency care, and saw first hand how respectful, empathetic, professional, hardworking and PATIENT the staff were. I saw a wide range of difficult patients, ranging from batshit crazy, to not speaking any english, to being disgustingly demanding. The only quick part of the ER is triage nurses. I was quickly brought inside. I spent 5.5 hr for nothing. They thought appendicitis and I still did not get a ct scan. I checked myself out, against their recommendation. If it was urgent for them, as they said, I woukd have been processed quicker. Hi Martha this hospital is not good.on may 24th ,2019 my mom went to this hospital because she felt like she couldn't breath.she stayed over night the next day they released her knowing she had water in her lungs.they gave her a z pack told her to take the antibiotics and she should feel better. A week later june 4th, 2019 she was rushed to the hospital with 40%of oxygen in her lungs they interbated her.next day she was sent to the ICU unit.she was there for a week seem to be helping my mother a lot.she look good and then she was moved to the old building to k7 with a room mate with dementia yelling and screaming my siblings complained about the woman and as well the rooms are way to hot. My mother in the past month been moved around to 4 rooms and all the rooms were hot.i even could not believe that doctors were doing surgery's in the rooms while there was dust on the ceilings. Everytime mom had flem coming out her mouth we had to do the nurses job to do the suctions because they were no where to be found.my brother stayed overnight 2 weeks ago and he experienced 2 nurses arguing about helping my mother. while my mother is laying in bed and they are pumping all these antibiotics in her she developed kidney failure she was blowing up like a balloon.they put mom on dialysis to drain the fluids out every other day.July 7th me and my siblings went to visit doctor Feldman he is a cardiologist at his office on 48th street we all when in a room we spoke with him and the first thing that came out his mouth that the nurses never listen to him he tells them to do things he approves and they are not doing it.He said once a patient has an organ failure they tend to push them to the side.i was getting pissed off because no one pushes our mom to the side.July 8th,2019. we meet palliative care and the social worker.they seemed very optimistic that my mother will recover from this.They showed us on a computer screen moms progress from when she came in til then.we seem excited they were given us great news.They did admit that my mother should never been moved from the ICU.they said she should have been moved to the step down unit in which was across the hall. We demand our mom be moved to another hospital but supposedly that my mother is a liability because of the tracheotomy in her throat. The pellitive care told us that she would do anything in her power to move our mother back the the 7th floor were the ICU is I thought.a week later the things we spoken about if what we wanted never happened that pellitive care said they would do.we spoken to pellitive care and the social worker on July 16,2019 again they were optimistic she is looking good she is going to make it they were going to put a peg in my mothers chest for dialysis because the tube in her groins can get infected if in to long. The next day Wednesday they give mom a nitroglycerin pill under her tongue I guess she is have a heart problem due to the water filling up in her body.Thursday they tell my sister to please leave the room so they can put the peg in.few minutes later they storm out the room for emergency team unit. My brother Phillips call my cell phone tells me that mom just had a heart attack and that we may have to let her go.i go to the hospital it appears she is in space and not responding.The head doctor goes in the room evaluates her and gets the family together told us she has no brain function it's best to let her go in peace. I feel the doctors and the staff have failed my mother.this could have been prevented if they did not let her leave the hospital the first time.They failed me and my siblings given us hope telling us that she is going to make a full recovery. This hospitals level of care was horrible.i would never recommend if anyone has a breathing related issue to never go to this hospital because they dont have enough units for this kind of serious issues.after all said and done me and my siblings are going to legal proceedings.no one should not lose there mom due to there negligence. read more

The emergency room staff was very attentive to the patient I was visiting. The staff, although busy, were very kind to me as well.

One of the worst hospitals. For two days straight, the doctor came in without a translator. The patients don't know their progress and they can't report their daily symptom changes. They aimlessly wait in their room for days. The staff that we asked for help were unenthusiastic and rude. They gave minimum efforts. We asked the nurse for the updates cause the doctor comes in once a day. The nurse said "I don't know anything about the patient. my shift started two hours ago" and that was the answer. I feel like there is no communication between staffs. Terrible terrible service. read more

Never ever again.  I was sent there via ambulance from my therapist's office ( now ex-therapist ) as she felt my depression was too deep and I needed inpatient care, I reluctantly went.  First time in my life and it will be the last.  9 hour wait in the emergency room with no offer of food or water.   All my clothing and jewelry taken away from me. The psych ward is straight out of ' One flew over the cuckoo's nest '.   I was slowly losing my mind and those 4 days there felt like a lifetime.  They look for you every 15 minutes whether you are asleep or not, no locks on doors, no windows, no sunlight, no paintings on wall, patients are all zombie like and pretty scary, towels only slightly bigger than the ones you dry your dishes with.  Teensy bars of soap which you have to line up every morning and ask for.  Food not fit for a dog so I went on a semi hunger strike and dropped 3 pounds in 4 days.   Doctors are hopeless, they wind you up so much that you end up yelling at them, proving their point that you are truly there because you are crazy.   No radios and the elevator is guarded more closely than Ft Knox.    I spent those 4.5 days slamming my door in frustration, not eating, staying in bed staring at the blank wall and dreaming of strangling them all with the bra that they took away from me.     Please people, if you feel so depressed that they want to admit you someplace, make it Methodist or Lutheran, avoid Maimonides.  They don't even have a chapel to pray in or a small library or any magazines.    It is hell on earth. read more
