For the past 6 months life has been a nightmare - luckily I took notes when I visited many places so when things died down I would be able to just type this out and pop in the pictures. I really liked this place. This brewery has a great vibe, is HUGE, good service, yummy food, tasty beer and considering it was a cold, icky night when we went - there was more people there than I would have thought. My smash melt was so good. Messy but a good type of messy. It was also a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be. The shepherds pie was really runny. A spoon was definitely the utensil of choice but the flavor was spot on. I struggled to get up the stairs because of my knees (both are new) and it appears to be the only stairs so I had to wait for some servers to go up (& vice versa) but when we got up there it was very cool. Honestly, this place is huge. I cannot stress that enough. There was a big party next to us and I watched how they were waited on...because sometimes big parties can be a challenge. It appeared that no one waited a unreasonable time to get their refills. Even a spill was taken care of by staff swiftly. That is a good sign. However, our service was just good. It took a long time to get a beer and we never got out second one we just paid and left All that being said, I will be back. read more

Hundreds of Hops US Hop Passport Amazing Brewery Race Stop 30 - 1/18 for Missouri We stopped here as our first stop on our Missouri Brewery Race, plotted intentionally for the eats... specifically all you can eat fried chicken day... not that I could eat a whole lot of it, but I love good fried chicken and that KFC at home isn't scratching that itch. Needless to say, I ordered the fried chicken, dark meat. The hubs got a maple syrup (flavored, turns out - definitely NOT maple syrup). The table behind us ordered directly after our order was put in and also ordered all you can eat fried chicken, dark meat. When i heard, "we're sold out of that", with my order not up yet, I thought we were in for potential problems. Now, at 845pm, I'd understand that but 15min after the "special" starts, with a half empty dining room... I'm gonna have some questions. For example: Why is there no chicken available at open on fried chicken day? Anywho, the plates come out & I'd guess the potatoes were from the last special... cold & crusty, topped with the thickest, most concentrated "gravy" I've ever seen. Both were inedible. The broccoli was cooler than it should have been served at but tasted good. The real star was definitely the fried chicken. It absolutely hit the spot - unfortunately, they were indeed sold out of dark meat & i ended up with a wing... sigh - thankfully, I got 1 thigh, my true love & although it was all you can eat (only way they sell it), 1 thigh is about all I can eat. Still, I could have skipped the sides all together for a 2nd thigh... The burger was "ok", nicely cooked, but maple flavor is not at all the same as real maple syrup tho & it definitely could be improved with real maple syrup. The beer was pretty tasty. We had 3 different ones & could have pulled a 4th had the timing worked out. Overall, a so-so experience. I'm not sure why, when I ordered, that I wasn't told that there wasn't enough chicken for a dark meat order. I would have asked if there was a thigh left & likely still ordered it when they said yes, but it would have been my choice then. We stopped into Main & Mill Brewery with a group of families after a baseball tournament, and it was exactly what we needed. First off, the staff was outstanding. We had kids, tired parents, and a decent-sized group -- and they handled it effortlessly. Friendly, attentive, and quick without ever making us feel rushed. That balance isn't easy. The food was killer. The brisket mac and cheese was loaded and flavorful, with perfectly cooked pasta and tender meat. The smash burger was another standout -- great crust on the patty, juicy inside, and stacked just right. Even the pretzel bites were a hit with the kids (and let's be honest, the adults too). And the blood orange beer? Fantastic. Crisp, refreshing, and just enough citrus to make it interesting without being overpowering. It was the perfect post-game drink. Main and mill is a great little lunch or dinner spot. Located on Main St., Festus. It's a great location to other stores for small business shopping. Inside your greeted with their brew machines at the bar and a rustic wood interior, it's a great casual feel. We stopped in for lunch and I opted to get the jalapeño popper burger with fries and the pretzels with beer cheese for our appetizer. The pretzels are pretty classic and the beer cheese is delicious combination with them. The jalapeño popper burger was a great mix of savory and sweet and spicy. Might be one of my favorite burgers! Upon walking in it is extremely clean and beautiful!!! We was greeted instantly by the bartender as well as our server Jenna. Jenna was very sweet and had amazing customer service skills. She constantly checked on our drink levels as well as making sure everything was ok. She went over the menu with us and recommended the trio dip. The trio dip was spot on and my favorite off it was the spinach artichoke dip. The buffalo chicken is creamy and amazing as well. Majority of the menu and sauces are house made as well as the chips. The garlic aïoli is hands down amazing, the tarter sauce is amazing, the ranch is good but wld be perfect if it was a little thicker, and the maple glaze is sweet with a kick.She helped us decide on our entrées. My daughter ordered the avacado Swiss burger but added bacon and subbed cheddar cheese and got a loaded baked potato. I ordered the southern catfish nuggets with a side salad and a loaded baked potato. The manager Toni was super sweet when she came by the table as well, and told us if we needed anything just let her know. The brioche bun the burger came on was fresh and toasted the burger was juicy and well seasoned and that garlic aioli on that burger set it off!!!! The catfish is really good most places that serve catfish it's fishy and muddy tasting however this was fresh and had a clean taste, however I was expecting a little more than it came with for the price. My wife and I took our kids hiking south of St. Louis My wife works in Arnond, and had heard good things about Main & Mill. On our way back into town we decided to stop in for dinner. Overall I was very impressed. The brewer is located near downtown where there are a number of cute shops and stores. The building is larger than it looks from the front, spanning a couple floors. It is an older building that has been renovated and I loved the aesthetic of brick and stained wood inside. The service was attentive and nice. The hostesses gave our kids crayons and a coloring sheet which is always appreciated. My kids got the standard burger and chicken strips fare, my wife got a salad, and I got a chicken sandwich. Everything was very good and came out fast. I also got a fried pickle appetizer as I'm a complete sucker for them. My wife got a flight, and I got one beer. We hadn't had them before so it was something new to try out. All of them were pretty good. I know they have some beers available in the metro area and I'll have to keep my eye open for them. Overall this was a great choice on my wife's part. I'd go back with no hesitation when we are in the area. read more

Main & Mill is a convenient brewery on Main Street in Festus. The inside reminds me of a tavern, with low lighting and dark wood with brick. We've been here a handful of times to get beer; however this is our first time ordering food. My husband ordered the poutine and we got a couple of beers. Their beers are ok, nothing to write home about. I got the Clyde's Ale and he got the Weiss City. When the poutine came out, we were not impressed. I've never seen deep fried cheese curds for poutine -- it made the whole dish extremely salty. The fries were not chunky like poutine fries should be and the gravy was very bacony. My husband and I couldn't eat more than a few bites before we called it quits. Our server was very kind and accommodating and discounted the poutine for us. M&M is a staple on Festus Main Street. I've been several times over the years and have generally always left satisfied. The spot is very comfortable and had plenty of other guests to keep the atmosphere active/alive. This visit I tried a peach hibiscus cider--it was good, but had more of a hibiscus taste than peach. My table ordered toasted ravioli for an appetizer and would again in the future. For an entree I had a side salad (nice portion!), baked potato (very large) and the salmon. The salmon wasn't great, could definitely use some seasoning. I would want to try something different in the future--the burgers seem to be popular! Our waitress was friendly enough, but she did forget our drinks a few times and made us feel rushed to order. It didn't make a big difference in our evening and that hasn't been the standard for us in the past, so I think it was an isolated incident. We've had Main & Mill on our minds since we went a month ago! Here's what we can't stop thinking about: 1. THE MULES Mules have been our cocktail of choice this summer. Main & Mill has 5 mule flavors to choose from, 6 if you count the original. Mulberry is an especially fun option! 2. THE FRIED CHICKEN This breading is seriously something to brag about. Also, isn't the Red Bird the most beautiful chicken sandwich you've ever seen?! It's tossed in buffalo sauce and topped with ghost pepper jack cheese and ranch dressing. 3. THE FOMO Not exaggerating when we say everything on this menu sounded marvelous. It was hard to decide what to order because no matter what we'd be missing out on something super yum. Meal options are well thought out and cater cater the American classics. Really good prices for the quality and portions. Great cocktails and a beer for every occasion. They do reallly fun can releases. Live music on most Thursday and Sunday. Going to Trivia they have on the last Tuesday of the month. I love the atmosphere at Main and Mel. It's very Homie comfortable. Tonight I ordered the ribeye steak sandwich was very tasty. My only criticism is I could've had more fries. But even saying that I was very satisfied when I left. The sandwich itself was delicious cooked right. My wife had a Reuben. I took a bite of it. It was a very, very good Reuben. She got the salad for a side and it was a huge side salad. For the beer I bought a Clydesdale. It was on sale. It can be compared to Michelob Ultra. It was very tasty. Great job of bringing new life to an old building plus a very good job of brewing excellent beer. I sat upstairs in the public pour house. I sat on the upstairs deck and had lunch this last visit. The heat wasn't bad with the breeze and roof. Kids I sat around seem to enjoy the open air deck. The food and waitress was very good. The salmon dinner entree with steamed broccoli and side salad actually impressed my West County friend. I had the Greek salad with chicken. It was great with goat cheese. When I first noticed Main & Mill selections in my local beer aisle a few months ago, I was very curious. I'd never been to Festus before, but I knew it was only about a 45-minute drive from the city. The commute is 100% worth it - beyond the beer itself, the atmosphere, food, and service are equal reasons to visit this brewery. First walking in is an inviting experience - we were in a seated in a spacious area upstairs, great for medium-sized groups and conversation. Main & Mill offers an expensive food menu of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and salads - I really enjoyed the Buffalo Chicken Salad on my last visit and look forward to trying a different entree next time. The flight choices were absolutely delicious and helped solidify Main & Mill as one of my current favorites in the St. Louis metro - I found each choice to be incredibly flavorful and distinct, enhanced on tap. As an imperial stout fan, Mean Mr. Mocha may have been the standout. I'm looking forward to trying a flight of different selections when I return in a few weeks, and I recommend Main & Mill to anyone in the St. Louis-area. read more

Stopped in to Main & Mill for dinner on Saturday night at about 5:30pm. It was the worst experience we have had there. Service was slow despite it not being very crowded. When the food came I was surprised at how small the portions were for the price, but at least I got what I ordered. My wife ordered a gluten-free bun but didn't get one, so she had to wait for a replacement. Worse than that was that my daughter's order never showed up. Our waitress disappeared for a long time. When she came back she was apologetic, but the food still never came. We waited a solid 20 minutes--long enough for everyone else to finish eating-- and finally just asked for the check. We were polite and didn't berate her at all. When she finally brought the check, she told us my daughter's order had been taken off the bill as if that was some kind of big favor. I sort of thought she might have taken off the appetizer or drinks or something to make up for the poor service and wasted time, but everything else was full price. What a wonderful discovery... a quaint little brewery in Festus, Mo of all places. We needed to stay the night on our way home to Little Rock and saw this on the map. The place was really cool ... the bartender Colton was super cool. He was knowledgeable, respectful, attentive and just a fun dude. The staff were just as cool ... friendly and fun. The beers we tried were quite good. The beer selection was good ... they were out of a few ... the Blood Red Orange Blonde (bummer). The Fat Elvis was great (quite strong), The Lil Jifforia an Imperial Stout was super tasty (left with 2 Packs). The Food was good .. great Fried Pickles, the Fish and Chips were dynamite. The Ghost - a Spicy Smash Burger was good ... a bit dry and not as spicy as I prefer but good. The overall experience was great. It is now a our new midway point while travel from Little Rock to Wisconsin. read more

It had the best and most reviews for the area it's in so I gave it a shot. It's a super small restaurant and most tables involve taking one step up into the booth (so not ideal for people that struggle walking). Everything on the menu was like $15, no matter what it was. The food was also very mediocre bar food but I did enjoy the fries. My sister also said the food looked "disappointing." Service also was friendly! Server did take my mom's side dish away before asking if she was done with it and if she wanted a box so my mom felt obligated to let her take it (there was still food in the bowl). The side also originally came out incorrect (they brought out fries instead of green beans) and we had to ask for it to be corrected. Which is no big deal, mistakes happen. I wouldn't object to eating here again but I also will not go out of my way to be a customer here. This is a wonderfully repurposed building. It is very popular with families and hipsters. The beer is ok. The service is excellent. The food was ok. We had a Reuben sandwich with side salad. The meat was great, the bread was very tasty but not toasted or grilled and the sauerkraut was undetectable. My partner likes the beer here and sometimes they have a cider or seltzer too which is great. The inside is surprisingly upscale for a brewery and feels more like a sit down restaurant. The outdoor deck is cool but sadly no dogs are allowed on it. There's an awkward little space in the back where dogs can go but it feels quite removed from the actual brewery and just has some benches set up with no other amenities. Neet little place but all the beers are really flat. I cant quite figure out what the deal was but i tried the octoberfest, the pub, then i went for the IPA cause i thought lack of hops were to blame but no. Its just super flat tasting across the board not sure what the deal is im no brew master but the beer is so flat tastes like water. Burgers are not cooked to order, buffalo mac didnt have any "buffalo". The resounding theme from all our food was not enough sauce. Burger, needed more sauce, buffalo mac not enough buffalo sauce, bbq nacho - meat was mush, and almost no sauce. read more
