I haven't been back to this salon for many years due to rudeness and attitudes of the owner and some employees. I wanted to try again out of convenience in location. I made an appt yesterday for today with Annie for a pedicure. It was confirmed twice and again I got a text 40 min before my appt. I got there and was told that Annie left. No call no nothing. No explanation. Not even an apology From the girl at the desk. How does a person just leave when they have a scheduled client. ? Strafford Nails is in the strip mall near the Wayne Farmers Market. There's plenty of parking. Nona took care of me today. The manicure is $40 and includes a hot stone massage and hot towels at the end. The manicure is $23 and includes a brief shoulder massage at the drying area which overlooks the parking lot and Lancaster Ave. Other reviews mentioned that this place can be hit or miss but I think that's the case everywhere. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I've never once had a good experience at any of the Strafford Nail Salon locations (Wayne, Swedesford Shopping Center or KOP). Very sub-par manicure and pedicure services and the staff are never friendly. It is not about relaxing and enjoying yourself here- they just want to get you in and out and soon as possible with no frills or pampering at all- no massages, nothing. The girl I saw today at the Wayne location (Mai) did not say hello or speak to me at any point throughout my entire visit, and she did not even say thank you after I tipped her (I'm sorry, is a 25% tip for crappy, below-average service not acceptable to you??). Never going here again, even if it's convenient to where I'm going. There are plenty of other good places in the area. read more

Appalling service at Villanova Nails, no consideration for customer service. Gel nails started peeling within 3 days and I was told they will fix it that day otherwise no refund and no other day to come in. Don't waste your money here. They are rude and terrible. They don't even deserve one star. They churn out clients quickly like a factory production line. read more

DO NOT go to this business. Watch out for the manager. If you don't tip enough; she complains. I had a gel mani and regular pedi and my Mom just a gel mani (which came to $105 all together). Neither of us had cash on us... The manager said that I could Venmo her (which I thought was weird). Oh, and my hands were wet since she demanded everything be paid and tipped. The manager stood over me and my phone. I usually only tip $15; but today I was feeling generous and put $20 in my Venmo for tip. The manager, then grabbed my phone out of my hand, and deleted the amount out of my Venmo and demanded more money. I was appalled by this. Tipping is optional isn't it? At least where I come from it is. This manager should be fired immediately. read more

I've gone to MLN a few times over the years and it is definitely hit or miss. This weekend I went in for a manicure and was surprised it was $18 (!!). The tech used a rough paper towel on my hands, no cuticle oil or moisturizing cream. My nails were filed quickly and are different lengths, etc. Honestly I could've done a better job myself. I noted that she took the cuticle trimer, wiped it with a paper towel and put it back in the plastic cover - um - that's just not clean or hygienic. I'll never go here again. read more

This place is hit or miss. 2 weeks ago the service was fine. Jennifer did s great job. Today I walked in the door with very few customers. I wanted a French gel. My technician didn't understand that I didn't want her to cut my nails. So, someone else interpeted for her Then she didn't understand how thick I wanted the... again someone else interpeted for me. She rushed through because they started getting busy. My middle finger looks like crap. How ironic! I won't be back. I will make the journey to Exton next time? read more

Strafford Nails has been the "old reliable" around these parts for the past several years. They always have a lot of nail technicians staffed for walk-ins, especially on the weekends and after work hours. The most I've ever had to wait is 10-15 minutes, which isn't bad at all. They have a great selection of nail polishes and designs available as well, and everyone is friendly. Strafford Nails also appears to be very clean as well, which is very important to me. It is bright and inviting, and always a relaxing experience. I've only ever gotten manicures and pedicures here, but they also do waxing. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I just moved here from MN and am looking for a good nail place. Let me tell you something - it's NOT STRAFFORD NAILS. First, the woman working to take off my gel polish takes about 30min and TOTALLY destroys my nails. She tells me "never again to have OPI gel polish put on because it's too hard to get off". Um, OK. The place I've been going to for years has had no problem taking it off and doesn't take 1/2 my nail with it. My nails are now weak and peeling - a problem I never had before. Next, that woman gets up and a man sits down, doesn't say a WORD to me, and starts filing my nails. I use the term "filing" very loosely. She ran a file over 8/10 of my nails, stuck them in a heating thing for about 3 min, then got up and left. The original woman then sits down, trims my cuticles back (again, I use the term "trims my cuticles" VERY loosely... they're a mess today) and tells me a THIRD person would be painting my nails. There was only 1 other woman in the place... are 3 people necessary to get a job done? I could see how, if they all specialized in something, this would make sense. They don't. The girl who painted my nails is a Sr. in HS. No training, so schooling. Just working there part time to make a $. She was very nice - but not at all professional and my nails are a complete mess. I'm not exaggerating when I say they didn't last 6 hours. Never again Strafford Nails. Never again. read more

I arrived without an appointment right when they opened on Saturday morning so I wouldn't have to wait. John was meticulous with my short, bitten nails. My mani/pedi looks great, and at $45 it was reasonably priced. I was there for about an hour, and though there were a few others in the nail salon, they never got too busy, so no additional walk-ins would have needed to wait. I don't treat myself to getting my nails done often, but I would definitely go back again for a mani/pedi in the future. read more

I have a wedding tomorrow so I went to stafford nails during my lunch break and it was terrible. the people were ok. didn't talk to you at all but the white tips of my friend manicure is half way down my nail and they only gave me one coat of pink so its blasting white. Another coat would have toned it down. They seem to be very nice to their repeat customers but I was new and didn't get the service I would have liked. read more

This place is the worst! Part of the main line nails chain, I should have known better. All the salons must use the same inventory of 60 polish colors from 2002. The same colors are still around-just completely diluted with polish remover. The standard 'ballet slippers' color is offered here however it comes in 3 different shades depending on the concoction they use to stretch the polish. The application was lumpy and gooey. My nails will probably dry in a month. But according to the owner it's because I have bumpy nails... Hmmm... Anyone else ever get that response? Stay away from main line nails.. Strafford Nails = Main Line Nails = No. I cannot understand how this place has been awarded "Best Of The Main Line". While it's clean and the manager and front desk folks are nice, the technician assigned to me had no idea what she was doing. She used an emery board that was as rough as 40 grit sandpaper, and sawed back and forth, back and forth -- as I watched my nails go up in dust. (A good manicurist would NEVER do this: filing is supposed to be done in one direction and gently). Not only did she hack them much too short, the shape was a disaster: longer on one side than the other, some nails pointed, others too square. After the third nail, I nicely mentioned what I wanted, but nothing changed so I finally had to say "sorry" and get up. She did have a colleague finish my manicure, but the damage was done. Nail and hand treatment was also inferior .. other Wayne salons do a much better job. read more

Upon my arrival of Main Line Nails, I was off the bat pessimistic toward my experience. The nail menu was completely unorganized and did not have the full pricing present. Once seated, after a 15 minute wait, I was negatively greeted by the staff member who was assisting me. I requested a gel manicure seemed to have been lost in translation due the fact that I had to remind him three times. After we settled the fact that I was in for a gel manicure, the color that I selected was no longer available, which is understandable- yet, the next three colors that I had requested were also out of stock. After finally discovering a polish color that was in stock, we began the manicure. The process itself, was mediocre at best until the after my nails were painted which is where it completely goes down hill. After inspecting my nails i realized that there was residue from the cotton balls used during the final coat of gel, since they were never completely dried under the UV lamp although he had told me to remove my hands. In addition, the color was not completely covering my finger nails and the shape of my nails were far from what I requested. In conclusion, it is safe to say that I will never return to main line nails and make sure that none of my friends visit this establishment. read more

I stopped her because it was close to my apartment, and I was happy with my visit. The staff was very friendly, and they seemed to have a good selection of polishes. My gel manicure was just ok - the experience was good, but it started chipping within a week. I'm on a med school rotation at a hospital where I'm washing my hands a ton though, so I'm definitely going to give them another try before I make a final decision. Worst gel manicure I ever had! The woman made a mistake on a finger and instead of removing the paint to fix it she kept painting over it and over it. I had one finger that the paint was so thick that it looked like something was wrong with my finger. I also went an hour or so before closing and they were rushing me the whole time. read more

Honestly, you're better off doing it yourself. Save your money. I went to Strafford Nails today-- it's Labor Day and I wanted a quick manicure before I headed back to work on Monday. I was away all weekend and hit up Strafford Nails because every other place was closed. I had to wait about 20 minutes before I was seated. I understand it was a holiday and that most stores are closed but rushing does not begin to describe how fast this guy was going. The water was cold, he barely filed and, to make matters worse, instead of using cuticle oil he used some cheap Bath and Body Works knock off raspberry hand lotion. At that point I got up and started to leave-- another woman in the salon said, "wait, don't go, we'll do it right." I said, "you either do it right or you don't" and left.
