STAY AWAY! This has been the single worst experience I've ever had in any professional setting, mechanics or otherwise. Long story short, they installed a Centerforce clutch (that i did supply, brand new) and from the jump I've had issues with it going into 1st or reverse as we as experiencing significant chatter. Upon picking it up verbatim was "we had a hell of a time bleeding that thing." I was told the 1st 2 times i brought it back this was normal. The Jeep sat for weeks untouched one of those times. It then left me stranded on the side of the road requiring a tow in August. To Main Line Transmission's credit they did repair it after having me supply a new slave cylinder at no charge, telling me i needed to buy them all lunch instead. I told them i would be happy to do so after we knew it was definitely fixed this time, given my experience to that point. I had limited opportunity to drive it since then, sub 200 miles, and its giving me the same issues. I called and left a voicemail before and never heard back. Called again just now and the front desk guy went off on me saying its faulty parts and to call back in a few weeks and they would see if they could get me in before going off on a tirade about how they are not at fault. My ask was simply if they could try bleeding it again based upon describing the issue to Centerforce and them recommending it based on those symptoms. 5 minutes later, Scott i believe was his name, the tech that claims to have worked on the Jeep called back, also yelling at me CALLING ME A DUMBASS repeatedly and how dare I question his work - which i wasn't... He then after that told me to bring the Jeep back, which clearly isnt happening. Overall an extremely poor experience and very evident they do not care about their customers, and worse yet are extremely unprofessional. I spent nearly $2k and im left with a vehicle i dont trust and got yelled at by multiple employees there for it. To date since install ive only put around 2k miles on the Jeep with about 200 since the last issue. Find someplace else, especially if you have a current generation Wrangler as these guys DO NOT stand by their work and have a massive ego problem. read more

I spent over $6000 to fix my truck that my son uses for his concrete business. We had to take it back 2 more times because it was still not working properly. Every time we took it back they would keep it for weeks at a time and never return phone calls to find out what was going on . After contacting a lawyer we got the truck back finally only to have it break down on the way to the Poconos. It had to be towed from the Poconos! We finally took it to West Chester Transmission and they fixed it within a week.( another $1000+). They call themselves transmission specialists but I wouldn't have them replace a battery in my remote for my TV!! With all this going on my son could not do his concrete business. We brought in my daughter's car for a new transmission. When we picked it up, it broke down a block away and we went right back. They said car needed a new battery and alternator. We had the work done and left. That afternoon (New Year's Eve) she left to go upstate and the car broke down again (on the PA turnpike) having no power (super scary). Car was towed back to Main Line Transmission - they apologized for the trouble, came in on New Year's day and fixed the car (bad part, not their fault). Two days later they called - apologized again, asked how my daughter and her car were. Car has run smoothly since. Awesome guys to work with, well run organization. read more

LIARS AND SCAMMERS!! I was referred to this place after getting my tires briefly looked at by another shop and they presumed something was wrong with my transmission (car was on the lift and front tires were not running smoothly- cv axel connects to transmission) We took it to Mainline Transmission and they told us that they had to open it up to figure out what was wrong and it would cost $500 but it would go towards the total if it needed fixing. I gave the okay to open it up and get a call back the next day saying my ENTIRE TRANSMISSION is shot and it would cost $3500 to fix (I only paid $3300 for the car itself). I called my dad who works on cars religiously and has a mechanic as a best friend and they thought it was suspicious that the entire trans was bad when the car was running perfectly fine with just wobbling front tires. I thanked Phil (the owner I presume) for opening it up and looking at but told him I was going to take it to my father's mechanic. He asked if he could just give me the box of parts to the transmission saying it would be easier to fix with it already out. I told him I will have to drive it an hour and a half and my father wants it back together as I gave it to him. He sounded annoyed by this and warned me about driving it say it's in really bad shape and to be careful but I picked up my car the next day. As I'm driving my car back it felt EXTREMELY WORSE than when I had dropped it off (I didn't even notice the tire problem before, my boyfriend had pointed it out) and now I was scared to drive it and felt like I was going to break down. Additionally my check engine light came on which was not on before. I called back as I was driving and the guy fed me some bullshit as to why this was happening. I had it towed to my mechanic. Today I got the message from my dad and his mechanic after extensively looking at my car that the transmission is not broken and they did not put it back together correctly which was causing it to drive like that, and they are now working on the tires, which is the only issue. read more

Car was towed to Main Line Transmission for broken trans band November(2022) and they recommended complete rebuild transmission. Car was completed first week of December at a cost of $3000 cash. Right away my car was shuddering back and fourth and banging into overdrive kinda hard. I took the car back a second time and they said two engine mounts were bad, ( I had them replaced a year before that and my mechanic checked them a month prior before rebuilt and said they were good) they replace both and charge me an extra $250, which i did not need. Car started shuddering and banging hard into overdrive again. Wife, friends, family, when road in car, felt the same thing (I guess they all cant be wrong). my wife hates getting in my car anymore she doesn't trust it. Took car back a total 5 times, They threw their hands up in the air with an attitude and said there's nothing wrong with your transmission. They tested car with a scanner and drove a couple short drives which i felt the shuddering duting ride, not smooth, which they denied, The other transmission specialists told me, (Not always problems show up on scanners). I absolutely hate driving my car anymore. I was upset with tears in my eyes when Phill said at the fith time there ( I guess we have to rebuild your transmission again with an attitude and hands in air). I since took my car at 2 expert transmission specialist and 2 regular mechanics and they said it's the torque converter and possible shift solenoids. The other mechanics said there's definitely something wrong with your transmission, they all said my car is known for very smooth shifting and not hard and jerky, they both went over my car with a fine toothpick to make sure nothing else was wrong. also. Phill wanted to schedule me for a trans rebuild but with an attitude at the fith time going back there, I lost complete trust with him and do not want them working on my car ever again, I left a message with them and wanted a $1,000 refund, which is fair, to go towards the next $3,000 where I would get the transmission done the right way. I have not received any refund from them at all. I'm on disability and funds are very tight. Its now April, and every time I drive, it still shudders back and fourth and once in a while bangs into overdrive hard. Maybe some people have luck, but I absolutely had a horrible experience and would never recommend main line transmissions to anyone. read more

The workmanship here was direct and honest and professional---------I traveled there from Lower Merion and found Captain Phil and his crew to be wonderfully helpful----no promotion of fear or uncertanity or doubt by anybody. road diagnosis by Phil was detailed and communicative, no baloney or exaggeration, a thorough piece of analysis done over a thirty minute test. the terms and price were fair and the service was great,. made a appointment, car went in, took a short time, inspected in the shop, and then road tested in minutes. a 2012 honda crv had no shudder, a little free touch to the transmission, and the wagon moved well and silently. it experienced its youth. I can only say the very best about Phil and his guys--------------high quality and excellent service at a kind price. hats off for a great job, no mularkey anywhere. read more

After driving with my emergency break on, my transmission was wrecked and I brought it here a year or two ago. The staff was amazing and repaired everything quickly and at a reasonable price. My car has had no transmission troubles since then and while hopefully I will not need their services again anytime soon, I will definitely be back for future repairs. read more

Honest, reasonable, and friendly service! Brian helped me when the scary "check transmission" warning message lit up my Honda's dashboard. Diagnostic testing and a repair all completed quickly and thoroughly. Car runs great, and that perky light is off! Amazing service. I brought in my car convinced we had a transmission problem. The infinity dealer thought so too, and wanted $5000 to replace it with a used one. However, the guys at Main line transmission did diagnostics and 3 (three) test drives over 2 days to make sure they understood what was happening. In the end they determined it was NOT the transmission and that the car didn't need any work. Then they refuse to charge me for the effort since it didn't need a transmission. We were shocked that they did all that work and wouldn't take a dime. They could not have been friendlier as well. Bottom line, if you need transmission work this is the place to go. read more

I had my transmssion rebuilt at Mainline Transmssion, and although it was intially a rough start getting the faulty symptoms worked out, they stayed true to their one year warranty/12,000 miles and corrected the issue. Although it took some time, after bring my SUV back 4 times, it was finally pin pointed and fixed. I am a happy customer of mainline transmissions. read more
