I never feel as if I'm being talked down to. I have never feel like the prices for repairs are not affordably fair. If I take my car in for one thing, if something else is needed, I am always first called, the needed repair is fully explained to me and the cost given. McLaughlin's offers a wide range of maintenance and repair services for cars and trucks. Its services include oil changes, emissions tests and inspections. I have been going to McLaughlin's for almost 8 years now. Most of my experience with them is for vehicle inspection and oil changes. They have never over charged me or told me that I need something replaced that I wasn't already expecting. I know there are some places out there that make stuff up just to get money out of you, but McLaughlin's hasn't done that to me. Most times my vehcicles pass inspection without needing anything. They are very prompt and don't keep the vehicle for longer than necessary and they always call to review their findings before doing any work. read more

I was looking for an Auto mechanic since i recently relocated to West Chester. Read several reviews on various sites that gave McLaughlins high marks for good customer service and quality of work. My old school Pops who did most of his own repairs on our hoopty mobiles taught me at an early age to never trust an auto mechanic. They're all snake oil charlatans who are out to get your money by making you get repairs/replacements of things that are completely unnecessary. Especially those mystery sensors that trip the check engine light 2 weeks before your damn inspection. McLaughlin's was no exception to this rule when I begrudgingly took my car in for a control arm repair on my old 04 Civic. They were the best price out of 5-6 shops. Then came the need for some motor mounts for my "nice car", our 05 Altima. Then one of the guys helped me with my little tractor tire that came off it's wheel. With each experience, I went from singing the woes of Adele to the cheerful praises Colbie Caillat in my bipolar relationship with auto mechanics. No really though, these guys are straight forward, not overpriced, transparent, and trustworthy. I highly recommend, especially if you have older rides like me. read more

I've always been pleased with the work on all my [old] cars here. They will even inform me of pending issues that will eventually need attention instead of insisting that it's an emergency repair. i took my toyota van to a national chain store for tires and they told me about an oil leak that was so serious it needed $800 of work right then! I declined and took it to Mclaughlin and they simply promised to keep an eye on it whenever I brought it in. They have kept my son's 1993 Mazda 323 running well and passing inspections for years. I hope he expands into the empty 7-11 connected to his facility. And- I can walk to and from my house when I drop off a car. read more

These people are the most dishonest people I have ever met! I wish I could give them a 0 stars rating, because a 1 star is being too nice to them! Where do I start? I took my car in for a service engine light check up , and was quoted $800 for a part I did not need. Took my car to another another shop and turns out the problem was an electrical switch that was disconnected!!!! Price to repair? Ready for it ? well $150 !!!! Unbelievable, just unbelievable. I can't believe anybody could be so dishonest. The worse part is, they quoted me without even so much as reading the code that caused the engine light to come on. So they basically tried to rip me off . Disgusting. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!! read more

Can not say enough good things about McLaughlin's. As a woman, I am always a little weary going to the mechanics for anything as I often feel like I am being taken advantage of. At McLaughlin's this was not the case, the technicians were friendly and honest about the service my car needed. I have been going to McLaughlin's for over 17 years. I will not go anywhere else. Everyone there is friendly, knowledgeable, fair, and honest. I have a 17 year old car and they have kept it running for me without taking me for a ride financially. They will tell you up front if there is something that may need attention coming up and they will keep an eye on it for you. Then when it's time to have a repair done they will take care of it. Bottom line, if you are looking for honesty in today's world and if you are willing to enjoy having service that is truly needed, then McLaughlin's is for you. Told them what the problem was with my car and they said they could fix. Dropped off and then got a call saying they actually couldn't fix the problem. Then tried to charge me after fixing nothing. read more

If I could give I would. I started going to these guys when I moved to West Chester. I took all 3 of my cars there. When I took my truck there for a leak to get fixed I was told it was a water pump. I had it fixed. Same day I picked it up and it was still leaking. I took it back. This time I was told it was the radiator. They offered no refund and said that the leak must have happened on my way home 6 mins away. I accepted their assertion and paid for a new radiator. Picked the truck up and it was still leaking. Called them again and they said bring it back for them to look at it again. This time they said it was power steering and that I need to keep it filled until I get it fixed. Again they refused to say it was the same problem I initially had. This time I was buying their story and I had my truck looked at by another company. The 2nd company, knowing nothing of my of previous repairs told me my transmission fluid was leaking due to the installation of a new radiator and the mechanic didn't connect the hose properly. And if I didn't bring my car to the 2nd mechanic as quickly as I did I could have lost my transmission this after paying over $1,000 already in repairs. Powers steering was not leaking and not an issue. 2nd issue was on the second vehicle I brought to them. This happened prior to my first incident. I took my son's car in for an inspection and was given a short list of things needing repair new muffler and ball joint bearings. A year later and after the incident above I took my son's car to another inspection place and asked them to specifically look at the two problems I was told by McLaughlins. This new company said the muffler was relatively new and in very good condition and the ball joint bearings looked fine. After this report I got in touch with the gentleman I purchased the vehicle from and found out that the muffler was just replaced prior to my buying the car. I called McGaughlins and spoke to Rick and told him about these situations. He never once apologized and only made excuses for his pathetic business. The workers come off as nice compassionate guys, but under the hood are slimey rip off artist. BEAWARE read more

Well they definitely pulled one over on me. I guess because I'm female, they figured I didn't know any better, and unfortunately I didn't until afterwards, but they charged me $99.95 for a full-synthetic oil change. I learned afterwards that I was had. Ridiculous. Also the place wreaks of cigarette smoke. Gross. read more
