We ate in the Main Lodge Dining Room. The wife made the reservation a week before arrival. We had a reservation time of 7pm. We stopped by the check in hostess station and asked for 5.30pm instead and a table by the window.....they said no problem. I like that! We were seated when arrived and had a million dollar view! White table cloth etc. Complimentary bread and spicy olive oil to start. Did a starter ok stuffed mushrooms. Our entree was the Cowboy Strip or NY Strip of you will. Sides of asparagus and garlic mash. Dinner was awesome. Our waiter was outstanding and my bad for not remembering his name. Definitely a better than could be expected experience!

The Main Lodge dining room is the only sit down restaurant in the park. We had a great experience dining here. I made dinner reservations by email for the restaurant about a week before we were to arrive. I didn't realize until a few days before our stay that I had goofed and reserved the wrong night. I guess I was lucky, because I had no problem getting confirmed pretty quickly for the correct night. Several hours before our reservation I asked the hostess for a window table with view. She said she would note the request, but couldn't guarantee it. We arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation and the hostess said view tables were just opening up. We were seated within 10-15 minutes at a very nice table. Our appetizer was the stuffed cremini mushrooms, which was a bit too tangy and salty for me. We shared the Cowboy Strip Steak, which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The portion was big enough to share. We enjoyed the meal. Our server was wonderful. Everyone at the restaurant who we came in contact with were friendly. And the view from our table was spectacular!

This is the grandest canyon I have ever seen, a real jaw droper. Located right beside the north rim is a great lodge, hard to get reservations to stay there, but the restaurant is available. We had the lunch buffet after a rim hike. There was a lot of variety and the food was ok, but at the restaurant window you could throw a rock and get it in the canyon. This dining experience was exceptional because you are in one of America's best ideas, our national parks. Dining here is more of an experience than anything. God Bless America!

We had the dinner here to celebrate the day hike from south rim. The view was spectacular. The duck dish was tasty too.

Bison short ribs are among some exotic dishes mixed with traditional American entrees at the Main Lodge Dining Room.

Best views of any restaurant you'll sit in, overlooking the spectacular Grand Canyon from the north rim. Service? ... First rate. The staff is friendly, engaging and attentive, albeit extremely busy. The food? A little slow at times, but overall, quite good. If there's a downside, this restaurant gets slammed by huge crowds in very short periods of time, leaving its cooking staff shorthanded....hence the possibility of slow timing. But from my experience, this staff will bend over backwards to make things right. I ate here three times during my recent vacation and I would continue to go back time and time again without hesitation. A little patience is all that is required.

5star prices, 1 star quality. Everything was overpriced. I guess when there are no options you can charge what you want.

Maybe that's the difference vs many of the lesser reviews. It's the GRAND CANYON. It's unfortunate so many people blast the staff for not being 5 star providers. The staff we've encountered have been exceptional. They respond to anything we need. They are super friendly. Once our room needed towels. So we asked. They provided. Once our room wasn't ready. So we waited. But it's the GRAND CANYON. Not the Four Seasons. Dare I suggest you stop looking at your phone, and you look around at the beauty formed over millions of years. 2023 our reservation was delayed by a month. The water main broke due to the amount of snow the area received and they had to restore the pipes. It's not unfortunate it happened. It's amazing they resolved it in 4-6 weeks! Seriously. If you're booking here to get the best latte at the cafe, or to have the best Chardonnay of your life, or the strongest WiFi you've had, do yourself a favor, drive to the south rim, get a helicopter tour, leave the same day, get a 5 star hotel in Phoenix. Otherwise, look around, enjoy the VIEW. Inhale. Exhale. Relax. Give the staff a break. They're doing their best. Season staff are hard to get in a remote location like this. I will say. After hiking in this year, the pepperoni sausage pizza at the cafe was the best I've had in my life. Maybe partially due from the condition we were in from hiking. But it was GOOD.

Unfortunately the campgrounds where completely reserved that weekend, except I was able to get the last one for a 1 night friday. However, upon arrival late evening, I noticed 2/3rds of the camp sites were empty. The ranger said that most people do not cancel for no shows, and the cost is $10 to cancel on a $18 reservation, so no incentive from the park service or reservation system to cancel. It was very frustrating to see so many sites empty on a Labor day weekend, with full reservation on the online site. There is a nice store in the campgrounds for purchasing drinks, snacks, firewood, etc. Also about 9 mins. away is the lodge. A beautiful 1920's lodge overlooking the grand canyon. They have a nice restaurant. I had reservations, which are necessary and recommended for dinner. However, next time, I will order food from the Deli next door and take it out to the veranda to watch the sunset. Less expensive, more beautiful view, and a fun way to experience the grand canyon. The campgrounds have bathrooms. A fire ring and a table. The place is clean. There is a trail that goes from the North along the Canyon rim, and then turns left to follow the campgrounds and Canyon North Rim. There are benches along the trail. SItes are a bit close together for a campground, but lots of tree cover. Rangers are nice. You must park on the asphalt or rangers will ticket your vehicle. In otherwords, do not drove off the road onto dirt etc. There are separate Tent camping area, that has nice tent "pads" to set up small to medium tents. Some have rim views. Those were also 75% empty even though they ALL showed reserved on the reservation system. Ranger don't like it but nothing they can do about it. Please write National Park service to ask them to change the system so drop in's can use those spots with no show? Road to the campground is nice 2 lane road. Beautiful views. Beautiful sunsets. Trail near lodge takes you to the point where you can get a 180 degree view of the canyon. There is a gift store, bar, deli, restaurant, and daily tours at the lodge down the road. There are ranger tours in morning and afternoons. Some lectures on the canyons, etc. There are are mule rides into the canyon available (1/2 and full day) located in the lodge entrance. Good campground for children and adults.

This week, the canyon was bursting with color from all the flowers and vegetation growing after the heavy snow season. This was truly a special experience! The trail to Ribbon Falls/North Rim was closed at one of the bridges and the creek running too high to attempt a safe crossing, so we enjoyed a rest day and cooled off on the banks of the stunning Colorado River. We took pictures of the current ranch as big changes are underway with a new water system getting installed, which will impact access to the ranch for a while. Special mention to the staff, particularly Zach, who went above and beyond to show us hospitality. Also, best of luck to new hire Tyler as he settles into his new role at the ranch! The ranch is currently short-handed, and some of the staff are really feeling the stress, which is starting to show in their interactions with guests. Remember to be patient and kind. The bottom of the Grand Canyon can't be an easy place to live and work.
