Had dinner in the dining room, service was great. Can't beat the views and we got there at sun down, excellent! Wife ordered the pork chops, spot on juicy, cooked as we like it with tasty potatoes. I had the brisket platter. Got 4 strips of what could have been beef jerky, smothered in non descript yellow and red sauce. Tasted like it was some hot sauce and mustard. Inedible. Had the flourless chocolate cake which is to die for. Took the nasty taste of the "brisket" away. Waitress didn't comment on my largely untouched "brisket" as she took it away. Most restaurants would ask about it, especially a 'white linen' type of eatery. In all the grilled pork chop was excellent, the chocolate cake was excellent. I should have had the steak. read more

We ate dinner here 2 nights. Mentioning to the waiter on the second night that I wanted my meal to arrive to the table hot did result in a better meal that night. Trout the first dinner, salmon the second. Beer is always a better choice than wine. Our waiters were great. I wish they offered a petite ribeye as 14 ounces was just to huge for me to consider. read more

Only sit down restaurant at the Grand Canyon North Rim. Since I had a pretty good experience at the south rim, I was actually looking forward to the food here. Server here are from all around the world. Each server has a name tag with their home town state or country. I think most of them are college students, trying to earn what they can during summer. Food I had (salmon burger) was just okay... Nothing special and I wouldn't pay that much if the same food was served in town. In fact, I would probably rate them either 2 or 3 stars.... However considering its location, food was okay, I ate all. What makes this restaurant four stars is the view. Where else can you get this nice view of the Grand Canyon? Get a table by the window if available and enjoy the view. read more

We ate in the Main Lodge Dining Room. The wife made the reservation a week before arrival. We had a reservation time of 7pm. We stopped by the check in hostess station and asked for 5.30pm instead and a table by the window.....they said no problem. I like that! We were seated when arrived and had a million dollar view! White table cloth etc. Complimentary bread and spicy olive oil to start. Did a starter ok stuffed mushrooms. Our entree was the Cowboy Strip or NY Strip of you will. Sides of asparagus and garlic mash. Dinner was awesome. Our waiter was outstanding and my bad for not remembering his name. Definitely a better than could be expected experience! read more

The Main Lodge dining room is the only sit down restaurant in the park. We had a great experience dining here. I made dinner reservations by email for the restaurant about a week before we were to arrive. I didn't realize until a few days before our stay that I had goofed and reserved the wrong night. I guess I was lucky, because I had no problem getting confirmed pretty quickly for the correct night. Several hours before our reservation I asked the hostess for a window table with view. She said she would note the request, but couldn't guarantee it. We arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation and the hostess said view tables were just opening up. We were seated within 10-15 minutes at a very nice table. Our appetizer was the stuffed cremini mushrooms, which was a bit too tangy and salty for me. We shared the Cowboy Strip Steak, which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The portion was big enough to share. We enjoyed the meal. Our server was wonderful. Everyone at the restaurant who we came in contact with were friendly. And the view from our table was spectacular! read more

The dining room is beautiful. The service was excellent the first night, I think our servers name was Guy. The second night service was okay. Both nights we had wine. Server made a suggestion on night one and we appreciated that. He told us about the history of the resort which was just a personable touch. Night two we got lucky and got a table next to the window. Both nights the food was just okay and that's why only three stars. The rice and black bean soup was honestly the best thing we had both nights. Had a salad night one as well but there wasn't a lot to it other than greens. Husband had the vegetable risotto and it was not good. Our son pretty much ate fruit and French fries. He did do the pb&j the second night which has so many layers and no crust that it looks like a piece of cake in the plate! He thought it was cool. Aramark needs to patriotically step up to the plate and provide better food & lodging options in this beautiful National Park for the excessive prices being charged, especially in the lodge dining room. $150 for 2 is excessive for the cold and undercooked bison short ribs we received there. $49 for a cold breakfast buffet also seems excessive. Their lodge motel we stayed in smelled like sewer gas. They are the only restaurant in the park so they have a captive audience without many or any other options. Aramark will probably blame covid for their shortfallings, but we think this is an excuse to not pay their employees enough or to provide decent housing options for them. Less employees working more hours probably improves their profits $$$ at the expensive of the visiting public lining the pockets of their billionaire owner with a sweetheart government contract. It is a scandal how badly they are running the North Rim hospitality services. Where is the government oversight for these predators? read more

Let's face it, you're not here for a Michelin star cuisine, you're here for the experience and the historic dining room. We did have to eat off of paper plates which is weird, but it's certainly not that staffs fault, it's a water shortage. The service was great, and our server was Ria. This is the grandest canyon I have ever seen, a real jaw droper. Located right beside the north rim is a great lodge, hard to get reservations to stay there, but the restaurant is available. We had the lunch buffet after a rim hike. There was a lot of variety and the food was ok, but at the restaurant window you could throw a rock and get it in the canyon. This dining experience was exceptional because you are in one of America's best ideas, our national parks. Dining here is more of an experience than anything. God Bless America! read more

Best views of any restaurant you'll sit in, overlooking the spectacular Grand Canyon from the north rim. Service? ... First rate. The staff is friendly, engaging and attentive, albeit extremely busy. The food? A little slow at times, but overall, quite good. If there's a downside, this restaurant gets slammed by huge crowds in very short periods of time, leaving its cooking staff shorthanded....hence the possibility of slow timing. But from my experience, this staff will bend over backwards to make things right. I ate here three times during my recent vacation and I would continue to go back time and time again without hesitation. A little patience is all that is required. read more

A really beautiful setting with mediocre food. The dining room is historic, elegant and beautiful. It has giant windows that give amazing views out over the north rim of the canyon. Unfortunately, the food itself was mediocre and over priced. We ordered the trout and the ribs. The trout was ok, but the ribs were just bad. They were slathered in overly sweet bbq sauce and came with frozen french fries. Overally a disappointing meal. Come here for the ambiance and the experience, but the food isn't worth it. There aren't a lot of choices on the North Rim. Next time we come we'll probably just eat the veranda menu instead. read more

We don't often dine at a hotel restaurant, they are usually expensive and not all that good. This is the exception. Grand windows facing the canyon, high stone walls, beamed ceiling. Our waiter was cheerful and helpful with the terrific menu. Prices were surprisingly moderate. Our meals were uniformly wonderful. Delicious, delicious, delicious !! The Grand Canyon dining at the South Rim doesn't disappoint (I'm talking El Tovar), and the North Rim is no exception. The menu is chock full of healthy options with lots of vegan and vegetarian picks, too. The food is delicious and fresh and there is an excellent wine selection, along with cocktails. All that being said, the views alone here are worth the visit. Definitely make a reservation if you plan to hit up the North Rim. read more

Two stars for the view from the dining room. Otherwise this restaurant was terrible. The service was mediocre at best. Slow and we had to ask three times for bread for the table. The prices are very high and the food was not good. The $30 sirloin steak was mealy in texture and not cooked as ordered. The wine list also needs improvement. There is no where else to eat for miles around, so they clearly don't have any motivation to improve the food. read more

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt - the waitstaff was pleasant, charming, but not the most experienced. We had salads presented without dressing, hot food served cold, and condiments were forgotten. That said, the food was still pretty good, the manager VERY attentive and made corrections, and a lovely setting. This is the only restaurant in the North Rim, so you must make reservations before you arrive, or wait until after 9pm to be seated. The only alternative is the deli, and the lines were long, and you weren't going to get bacon wrapped figs in there...! The waitstaff comes from all over the world to work for the season, as there wouldn't be enough locals to fill the positions (I assume) - so everyone is very charming and seemingly happy to be there - but less than experienced. Terrible experience. Made 8:45 pm reservations so waited all day to eat a nice dinner. When checking in, we were told they would check on this table and seat us immediately. As we waited we saw 3 separate parties with the same reservation time be seated ahead of us. Once finally seated we watch several waiters pass us and not even acknowledge our table. We waited 15 minutes without even being asked for drinks. The dinner area had several open tables, so it was not very busy. Extremely hungry and disappointed we left the table and had to quickly find a place that would actually acknowledge us. Do not recommend. read more

My husband and I stayed in a cabin here for 3 nights and ate 2 breakfasts and all 3 dinners in this dining room. Service was excellent and food was very good as well. The timing of the meals was perfect. Would highly recommend making your dinner reservations in the morning (for your evening meals). You can ask for a window table, although they will write the request down, they do tell you that is not guaranteed (understood). If you can get a side table right in front of a window. Believe me, it'll be worth the wait as the view of the canyon is spectacular! The complimentary warm and crusty bread served with the seasoned olive oil is yummy! They have meal options for special diets (gluten free, vegetarian and vegan). I will attest to all vegan choices being very good. One night I ordered a cup of the vegan bean and rice soup and a small salad which were very tasty. Another night I ordered the vegan chicken option along with a half-portion of an entree. My husband is not vegan and enjoyed his dinners immensely. He had salmon, chicken and barbecued ribs (separate dinner, of course). My husband had a cup of the elk chili (they said it was half beef/half elk). He liked it as well. I ordered the fruit platter for breakfast 2X and could only eat half each time. Excellent mixture of large chunks of fresh fruit. Took the rest of it back in a box and kept it chilled for the next day ;) My husband had an egg breakfast along with crispy hash browns which he enjoyed. No complaints here! First... good food and great service by the wait staff. TERRIBLE service by the hostess. It was 6:15 and we did not have a reservation, but we're perfectly fine waiting and watching the sunset on the balcony. However, the hostess lied and claimed she did not have a waiting list, but instead to just come back at 7:45 to 8 and she would remember us. At 8:05, we come back and she adds us to this computer based waiting list she supposedly didn't have an hour and 40 minutes earlier and gives us a buzzer. Then she lies to the people behind us and says dinner is by reservation only... probably because they were foreign and she thought they wouldn't know any better. This type of service is unacceptable and needs be called out. We made a complaint to the dining room manager. He said he's had multiple complaints and offered to comp breakfast, but only after we already said we won't be staying overnight. Smh. Hotel management fail! read more
