The ambiance was cozy when you walk in the door but I didn't realize it was in the lobby of a hotel. We ordered the half chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and the T-bone. They both came with a house salad. The salad had tossed greens with 2 slices of carrot and 2 quarter sticks of celery. I've never had celery on a house salad so that was new. We had the vinaigrette on one and it was good. When our entrees arrived the plates appeared very full. I don't recall the menu mentioning anything about corn and mixed veggies so that was a surprise. And the attempt to garnish the plate with an orange slice, carrot stick, and lettuce was weird. The chicken was crispy but did not have any breading or seasons. It was cooked fully. The leg and thigh were moist but under seasoned. The breast was very dry and almost inedible. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was cooked perfectly on the inside but the lack of grill marks or any searing made me think it was cooked in a microwave. The vegetables were from a can and the gravy was noticeably not fresh. If I was back in the area I wouldn't eat here again. read more

Like many, I ended up here for dinner during the off season. It was quite busy. By the time we were done there was actually a 5-10 minute wait for a table. This said, there were only two employees - a bartender and a server. The place is smallish so I think under normal circumstances it would be fine. The food came out quickly and was tasty. The music over the speakers gave the place a very relaxed vibe without being too loud to drown out conversation. I had the French dip. It was quite good. I wish the bread had been toasted a little more but overall good. I took away one star because once we got our food the service was almost non existent. Absolutely disgusting display of customer service and food quality, this is my first and probably last ever yelp review but it needs to be said. Please do not dine at this restaurant, my fiance and I hiked 15 miles into and out of the Grand Canyon and were starving, we could not eat more than a quarter of our meals because the food was inedible. When we contacted the establishment for some kind of reimbursement, they argued, blamed us, and said nothing could be done. FAST Review After a long day visiting the canyon, there aren't many restaurants outside the park that have very good ratings. We were staying at the Grand Canyon Plaza and the bar was open and serving food. Food: we got the French Dip & chicken sandwich. They filled a hole, but not the best. The onion rings were great. The chicken sandwich felt like it was a build your own, large lettuce leaves that needed to be trimmed, the butterflied chicken breast had to be cut and there was no sauce so we asked for mustard and mayo. Atmosphere: it's a bar, several high tops, 80's music in the background and 6 TVs. Chairs are lumpy. Service: it was not service with a smile, even checking into the hotel, but we sat quickly and got our food fairly fast. Tip: not many choices in this town. read more

We chose this place because it sounded good, was opening soon, and said it had an outdoor patio that was dog-friendly. Upon arrival, there was a TINY patio space that was NOT set up for outdoor seating. We were the second customers to arrive after opening and asked if we could bring our well-mannered mini aussie's inside. The manager was extremely hesitant but DID allow us to bring our two 3-yr old dogs inside, seating us in the back corner booth which has a partial wall at the end for the pups to lay by. Our server even brought them a huge bowl of water, which we were grateful for. Our group of 7, sitting at two tables, received our food quickly. It was standard style food, which was cooked well and met expectations; no one had any issues with their meals. We ordered the jalapeño & hatch chile poppers for appetizers; the deluxe burger, patty melt, beef tacos (app), and French dip sandwich with au jus; the kids ate grilled cheese and spaghetti. Our drinks were brought to us in beer mugs (tea and soda). The prickly pear margarita's were also delicious and well-made. Items of note: 1) none of our non-alcoholic drinks were refilled, despite having a couple empty glasses. 2) The iced tea drinkers also noted that the tea tasted like coffee pot tea, as in it had a distinct coffee pot taste from likely being made in the old coffee pot. It wasn't bad, but tasted funny until we realized it tasted like our deployment coffee pot teas back in the day. Both sweet and unsweet teas tasted like this. 3) The bill price increased in total when I paid with credit card, stating $168 when I received the check and then showing $180+ before tip on the receipt once the card was swiped. I was rushing and didn't realize this when we left as I tipped in cash, but couldn't find anything on the bill slip stating any surcharges were charged for our party size or anything so I don't know the reason for the upcharge. All in all, it was a great experience with cute decor and atmosphere, very likely to dine again, but caution on the bill when paying by card. read more

The ambiance is great; very cool bar with subdued lighting and the drinks were good. My old fashioned had too much bitters but my wife's mudslide was nice and strong with lots of chocolate to mask the taste. After 12 hours driving in the car, there was no way I was venturing out of the hotel to find food. So I settled on this place located inside my hotel. We were seated right away and service overall was great. The food is the issue.... And cleanliness. The table was sticky off the bat. I ordered a beer and it came out in a sticky, dirty glass. I ordered the prime rib with mashed potatoes. The prime rib was awful. Tasted microwaved. And the mashed potatoes were clearly instant/frozen. The meal overall tasted like a microwave TV dinner. My salad was mostly lettuce with 2 carrot sticks and 2 celery sticks on top. Lol. Really overpriced, awful meal. 2 stars for the nice service though. read more

We had just gotten to our hotel after a long day of driving and we're really hungry and didn't really want to drive to get food so we decided to come to this little saloon. It is located right inside the Grand Canyon plaza hotel. It has the typical small town bar/saloon atmosphere with a hint of sports bar. There are several tv's playing different sports channels and pretty good music playing. We were seated right away and got our drinks within a couple minutes. The prickly pear margaritas are amazing! A little sweet and a little sour and quench your thirst! We all ordered something different and we all thought our food was wonderful. We got the appetizer sampler of zucchini, mushrooms and onion rings to begin with and they were very good. A nice crispy batter. I had the street tacos and I will say the taco sauce that came with them was a tad spicy but since I love spice it was delicious! My daughter had the prime rib sandwich and subbed out mashed potatoes for the fries. Her mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant but when she added some of the au jus it made them edible. My husband had the patty melt and fries and he enjoyed his food also. Overall we had a really great experience here. Our food and drinks all came out quickly and the atmosphere was pretty chill. The sweet stained glass window and cool look of the room are the only things standing between this place and a one-star review. We'd been on the road all day, so after checking into the hotel we were ready to chill out with some food and drink. The place was pretty empty. There was another couple in a booth, and about five staff members standing around watching the NBA finals. So between us all, there was practically one server for each paying customer, a ratio that ultimately made no difference in the grand scheme of things. We would finish our drinks and wait. And wait. And because it was fun, we'd wait some more. And eventually someone would peel off from the huddle of idle servers and come over and do his job of serving us, if only for a fleeting minute or two, before returning to watch TV. As other reviewers have mentioned, the food was not great. Not at all. It wasn't nasty or anything, but it seemed like it came out of a freezer or in a Sysco package, like the generic food delivered to grills and holes-in-the-wall all over this country where they don't care to make things from scratch, or really, make things at all. Normally I'd just accept that and move on, but as others point out, everything here is pricey. I mean, I get it: lots of food has to be trucked in to this remote village in a remote national park, and these resorts are trying to turn a profit, but come on. At least try to offer better food. And for god's sake, don't hire staff who are going to spend their shifts watching basketball instead of working. read more

Amazing place to chill and catch your breath after a day at the canyon. This place came highly recommended by our pink jeep tour guide and he was right on target. Bartenders Raymond and Kelsey were super friendly and took care of us awesomely. I had a Bloody Mary and the Mrs. had a draft Coors light. On to the food. Let me start by saying the staff was very friendly and service was good... I got the cheeseburger (added bacon)and thank goodness because the bacon helped me consume this Swanson TV dinner excuse of a burger. It had the texture of a rubber hockey puck and the taste of an elementary school lunch soy burger. We were staying at the hotel which the restaurant was attached to so it was the obvious choice after a long day at the Grand Canyon. Our group came in here after a really long day of hiking and just needed a drink to enjoy before dinner. The place itself is small, dimly lit, playing a few games on TV. There wasn't much on tap (a few local brews I was happy to try as an out-of-towner), a few bottled options, and a few cocktails (my friend had a margarita that she said wasn't bad either). We did try some potato skins (they had a short list of appetizers) that were pretty good, I would say that was the highlight. Service was a little slow and inefficient, but all in all, it was an okay experience. Nothing to write home about, but the available beers were fairly cheap so I can't complain too much. read more
