You can stand there and watch your food being made as there is no place to sit and no line to wait in. While what I have ordered has been good, and I have not been ill after, lol, it's not very clean. Price is very fair however. But standing at the counter, waiting for your order to be cooked you start to look around, the door in the kitchen leading to the outside is "blood" stained?, the carpet you stand on is STICKY, from what? The people working are chopping like there is no end. I am normally squeamish about places like this, but seeing my food cooked and packaged very hot makes me feel a bit better. Last place I went for Chinese didn't far well so I went to my go to place Main Moon. Got 2 lunch special Curry Chicken, Beef Lo Mein and Wonton soup that came with it. Curry was spicy and delicious plenty of chicken ,onions and other vegetables and beef Lo Mein was perfect not dry with plenty of beef. I'm struggling with this one. I have been here before and I could have sworn it was great. I went last Sunday and I just grabbed chicken lo mein, an eggroll, and wonton egg drop soup. The eggroll and wonton egg drop soup were amazing! Loved them. The chicken lo mein was the yuckiest most disgusting lo mein I have ever had. The price is great but unfortunately - this place is turning into you get what you pay for. And the staff was unbelievably rude when I went to pick up! They were so bothered they had to tend to me. I also don't know that I have ever been served an eggroll without any sort of sauce. Lunch order was horrendous....general tso chicken was literally hard and not 1 piece was actually edible. I have been to Main Moon many times throughout the years and I feel like the quality and taste have gone downhill. We only ordered wonton soup today (their house special with veggies and meats and regular soup). The special soup is pretty good because it feels like a meal with veggies, meats and shrimp. The wontons are pretty standard tasting, the broth is somewhat bland but not as salty as some other restaurants. I wish they at least threw some scallions or something in the soup, not just broth and wontons. I'd get the soup again if I need something quick for lunch. read more

A larvae was found in our order of cashew chicken... there are just no words for this. My daughter is a picky eater and thank God she is! She picks through every bite and she found this little creature on a piece of chicken. If she wasn't one to sort through her food I fear she would have eaten it. She said the food tasted good up until that point. Our takeout order was last night and I debated about posting this. I was going to contact the restaurant first, but than I thought what can they do? I mean if they were to offer a refund, than ok. But it does not negate the fact that this was a really disgusting find. All I can say is that I've had takeout from this place at least a dozen times. I normally order from maybe 3 or 4 different items on the menu. Most times they are fine. Unfortunately, I am not going to go there anymore. Seeing this bug makes my mind wander to those restaurant shows on TV and stuff they find rotting in the pantry or in an improperly cooling fridge. I'm sure these folks have no issues in their kitchen and that everything is up to code and just fine. But the fact that this item found its way into the food is a turn off. Yes I've bought home produce before that had a big on it like a fruit fly on a celery stalk or something so I know it can happen in unexpected ways that have no direct link to the facility itself. Ahhhh main moon. When I want a $5.00 quick lunch made to order in under 10 minutes this is my usual Chinese stop. Simply for one reason it's location to me! The food itself is good. This is a GOOD three stars. It's not four but it's definitely better than half. I got the orange chicken combo to take out. It was sweet, slightly orangey and mildly spicy. The pork fried rice had maybe two tiny pieces of pork throughout, but it was tasty and not overly salted. The egg roll was plump, chewy, and cabbagey. The place looks like a dump. The ceilings have leak stains and the paint on the walls looks like it was done in a hurry, and in general everything is a bit dim and dusty. I wouldn't eat in but if I'm really craving greasy Chinese-American food I won't hesitate to stop in again. What can I say about Main Moon? If you come home from work and you're starving, and you realized there's no left over in the fridge and there is no way you want to defrost some chicken and make some dinner, and for some reason you are in the mood for some Chinese, AND AND if you live in Depew, then come to Main Moon. "The food will be ready in ten minutes", that's what the owner always says. No matter how many items you have in your order, they will be ready in 10 minutes. It makes me wonder how can they do that? Anyhow, I've come to this place numerous times, and the food has been consistently good. My usual is KungPao Chicken with pork fried rice ( you can substitute with steam rice as well), with hot and sour soup. The portion is pretty big and the price for the dinner specials are decent. My other favorite is the Orange Chicken with steam rice. I enjoyed the tangy orange glazed sauce and the coating isn't too mushy. I'm not really fond of their egg roll, there's not much flavor in it and somehow bland. I like taste of the shrimp Lo-Mein, but it is oily, so warning for those who have cardiac condition, better not eat this dish. I'm rating this place for the food only, not the restaurant. I always order the food for take out because I dislike the smell of grease on my clothes, and eating at this restaurant is not enjoyable. The restaurant is always cold (especially in the winter), and the owner never smiles. I think the food is better than some other Chinese take out. I'm very picky with the cleanliness of the kitchen no matter how good the food is. You can see the kitchen behind the counter and watch them cook your dinner in front of you while you're waiting. We really wanted to like this place as it is close to our house for take out. The menu is standard and has everything that we like. I ordered the Lo-Mein which was made quickly and had a lot of fresh veggies. However, when I tried it once I got home - the noodles tasted like oil and had no flavor. It was a big disappointment. The place is not pretty by any means - I did stick to the floor while I was waiting for our food and almost took a tile home that was stuck to the bottom of my shoe. It was our daughter's birthday and she wanted three things, a slumber party, cupcakes and Chinese for dinner. I don't ever submit negative reviews but I was very displeased with my experience. The food was ready when I got there, I went to pay and the cashier was very rude to me. Didn't look up at all. Just stared at the ground, tossed my money on the counter towards me. Then after I asked him for a few sets of chopsticks and I didn't answer right away bc I had to count how many people were at my house, continued to ask two times very quickly and I stated I was counting because I had a giant order. And when I finally told him he just opened the bag and rifled them into it. And you expect a tip from me? Yeah right. I'm a sales manager and customer experience is most important when you work a job with people. And theirs was horrible. If that wasn't enough I got home, passed out the food, sat down with my sweet and sour chicken opened it saw little tid-bit crusty pieces of breading no bigger than the diameter of a quarter. Seriously. And my wife who specifically orders every time "no carrots, no water chestnuts" because she has an allergy to them, and guess what, yep, filled with both. I then had to go back out and get a new dinner for us. This hasn't been the first time we've had an issue with this restaurant, but it's the final straw. Kung Po Chicken - Fairly new to the area looking for good take out. Kung Po Chicken for lunch, price was good, service was good, restaurant typical. The portion size was good, received some type of dumpling/sticker soup on the side, the stickers seemed to be filled with what looked like coagulated blood? The "chicken" in the Kung Po looked like entrails or some type of skin, not at all normal chicken. There was some type of mystery meat that may have been chicken but am not sure, they were little cubes. The sauce was flavorful enough but there wasn't nearly enough, the dish lacked a variety of vegetables, mainly consisted of celery and some green peppers. I developed a head-ache shortly after eating this dish. I do not recommend at all. I would have paid twice as much for something that was good. read more

This place is a solid 2-3.... Id give this a 2.5, but since I cant, I gave it a 2. I've definitely had WAY better chinese.... having lived in the Depew/Lancaster area for many years, I have yet to find a good Chinese place. When we moved back to the area 2-3 years ago, we tried China 1 in the tops plaza and hated it. Gave this Main moon a try and it was... OK. I was at least able to eat it. It's edible, but def not great. I got the beef and broccoli and my friend got the orange chicken. The rice is hardly "fried" rice. it is more just a yellow rice without much flavor... it has no onions, no veggies, and literally only 1 or 2 pieces of small pork. The eggrolls are mainly all cabbage and need a lot of soy sauce or mustard. Flavor is definitely lacking with the egg rolls. If you have no other options and really want Chinese, you could eat here but keep your standards low. I personally recommend Dragon City on main street in Clarence if you want really good Chinese take out. That is the BEST in the area! read more
