We had a leak on one of the pipes near my water heater outside. I created a project on yelp and sent it out to a bunch of companies in my area. Greg was one of the most responsive people to work with and not pushy like some other of plumbers. in one of the pictures from my project, he noticed we had an older water heater and recommended it be replaced (as it will have to come out to fix the leak anyways). Once we had the replacement on hand he came over right away and got to work. He noticed some messy piping from our old disconnected water softener and asked if he could fix it (free of charge!). Grigor is responsive, reasonable, good-natured, can-do and works hard to get the job just right. I planted my front slope to stop the mud river that cascaded down the retaining wall and covered the sidewalk every time it rained. Unfortunately every time I watered, the mud river flowed again. Realizing I needed professional help, it became clear to first stop working around the sewer line access pipe that stuck out of the hillside like a big elbow. It needed tucking into the hill instead. I got several bids. The first plumber suggested rerouting the entire sewer line. But I wasn't having any trouble with it! It only stuck out like a sore thumb. Oh, did I mention any time someone flushed you could HEAR it from the sidewalk? Nice. Three other plumbers with office staff and spiffy trucks came. Each suggested similar solutions and pricing. I've had many visits from such plumbers in the past couple years. They're so busy it's hard to get on their schedules and their prices seem... high. Grigor communicated with me directly and clearly. He gave a great bid to do exactly what was needed. The job was on a slope and the pipe tucked under a thriving bank of agave with stiff spines. Did you know native Americans used them as needles to sew hides? All to say digging to the line was difficult. Plus there were reasons the strange angle stuck out of the hillside. Let's just say this job was neither easy nor straightforward. Grigor stuck with it until he tucked the old pipe neatly into the hillside. I could not be more pleased!! The Short Short Version: Grigor is the kinda guy you want to have on call. He's gonna be honest, transparent, and doesn't seem to B.S. you :) The Whole 9 Yards: So, my garbage disposal died and I needed it replaced. I'm absolutely confident I could've done it myself, since disposals are really straightforward. However, coming from a family of midwestern carpenters, plumbers, masons, and electricians, I think it's REALLY important (if you aren't a labor pro yourself) to have a specialist you can trust for the important stuff (or for when you screw it up)... so I figured this would be a perfect opportunity to look for a good plumber. Replacing a disposal is NOT rocket science. A couple pictures is all a good plumber needs to know whether your sink is eff'd, or if there's something else superficial they need to be wary of. Basically, there are 2 outcomes: A) -the disposal just needs repair, B) needs replacement. A company should be able to quote you for their time and the parts with such a straightforward thing. There is very little need for a "free in-home estimate" - and most of the time, the plumber and services push to come in and look, then give you pricing- creating a pressure situation. I do not have time (at least, not for a simple garbage disposal) to go through rounds of people coming over and assessing and rescheduling and blah blah. I've done the dance before and it's exhausting and disappointing to often meet people who want extra dollars more than they just wanna do good work. I wanted it replaced, and I wanted honesty. I think Grigor is the kind of person I have been looking for. He gave an absolutely fair price for the work + replacement device, he was clear with communication, and was quick and efficient. Most importantly, for me, I was looking for 2 things: 1.) someone who wasn't looking to take advantage or jack up pricing. 2.) someone who would do what my family would do: tell me not to waste money doing something when it's not necessary. Grigor came in, kindly listened to me tell him the device was very dead, then appropriately did his own assessment and tried to repair it- to verify for himself (because he is the professional, not me). After checking it out, he asked if I was sure I wanted him to do the swap cuz he could just show me how. I wanted him to do it, so we walked through the process and there was nothing he tried to mystify. After all was said and done, I took him around to discuss the other work I will need to do and it was a relief to have a really clear and honest conversation about it all! Greg came out yesterday to install a fill valve for us and snake the two sinks that we thought were clogged. Upon checking, Greg told us the sinks were not clogged, they were draining slower simply because of the design, and maybe some minor build up in one sink. My water suddenly stopped running throughout the house - on a Sunday, of course. DWP came out to check and said I needed a new regulator. Main Plumbing came out that day and replaced it. Next day there was a rumbling noise whenever I ran any water. He came again and adjusted the pressure. All good for a week, then noise started again. These guys did exactly what they said they would do when they said they would do it. They are also the only ones considered that our old water heater was under warranty and didn't try to sell us a replacement at full retail. No other company that we contacted would even consider the warranty, always with a we don't do warranty repairs. Have to wonder if they do anything with the ones they sell.
