    Dry, tasteless burger.?
    Mike M.

I ordered the buffalo burger with no Ranch dressing. I received a dry, unseasoned burger, covered in a sauce that tasted like Ranch and had absolutely no "Buffalo" taste. The fries were very good, but the bad burger ruined the meal. I notified the server the sandwich tasted awful and she made no offer to replace it or have an adult come to our table. She simply walked away and never came back until she brought the check. This is my first and last visit to this place.

Best pizza in the area. Ask for it topped with steak. They use their rib-eye and it's delicious.

We had to drop off some items in the area and wanted to get dinner before heading back, so we looked over the menu and reviews. It seemed like it would be perfect for seafood lovers, and we were able to snag one of the last tables available. From the time we walked in, the service was amazing. The staff made great recommendations, checked on us frequently without being intrusive, and made sure we were enjoying our first experience there. Even the other customers were super friendly and told us they had been coming back for years for the great food and service. We both loved our meals. The breading on my fish was really crispy (a recommendation from the server), and the hush puppies were delicious. The portions were very generous, and I really enjoyed my leftovers the next day! The decor there is also super cute. They have several old soda machines outside and adorable crab-themed items inside and outside. Even though it's a bit of a drive, we both agreed that it will be well worth another trip in the future!

Regretted getting the crab cluster as it was only one crab when I could've gotten a pound for $5 more. The crab is also cooked plain with an old bay shaker at the table. The bang bang shrimp was very good. My boyfriend got the "crusty Mac" and said there were shells inside the crab cake, wasn't a fan of that and the amount of crab cake in it.

The food is simply not as good as it was when they opened including my last time in when I had the steak and cheese sub and it was flavorless and awful. The service has also not been what it once. I may have spoken to the owner about these issues in stead of re-reviewing but hearing the other Mike's experience I have no desire to do that. One simply cannot talk to customers that way. I hope they clean things up. This used to be one of my favorite places around.

The server began making excuses that she had only been there 5 min, which she told the next several people who came in 10-15 min later, the same 5 min story. I asked to taste the "sweet tea" which was NOT at all sweet. I ordered the lemonade and it was very weak. She finally came back to take our order. I ordered the steak special and my wife ordered the roast beef. We were told that the side salad had lettuce, tomato, cheese and cucumbers. Well, there was lots of iceberg lettuce, a little cheese, a few tomatoes, and one half-slice of cucumber. After about 50 min I asked when we could expect our food. Several people who came in after us had already received their meal and were eating. I told the server we would just pay for the salad and lemonade and go. I overheard her talking to the cook and from the gist of the conversation the cook either lost or never received our order. This is the first and last time I will grace the doors of this dive. The seats look like old bar chairs and the table cloths are plastic red that do not match the interior. We never got as much as an apology or the salad and drink are on us since we screwed up your order. UPDATE: I sent a copy of my review to the restaurant's FB page, via private message. Rather than an apology, I get berated and made to look like it was my fault. Here is the response: All excuses---"In response to this, I wasn't made aware of what happened until You had already left. As far as the tables, the waitress had just arrived to help because the first waitress was extremely busy and You came at the end of the rush when they were trying to clean up. As far as calling this place a dive and commenting on the interior that is rather juvenile.....You seen the inside when You walked in and obviously didn't think it was bad enough to not sit down and place an order. Instead of coming to social media to complain, why didn't You ask for the manager/owner instead?" It is pretty "juvenile" to call names, makes excuses and pass blame to the customer for the businesses mistakes. Just saying.

The atmosphere was one of the best parts of the experience. The music was great, people were singing, and the whole place felt fun, relaxed, and like somewhere you genuinely want to spend time. The hostess was wonderful, and our server, Trinity, was extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming. She genuinely seemed to enjoy what she was doing, and that made the experience even better. We started with drinks at the table, and both were excellent. The Washington's Rebellion Cherry Bounce was memorable and very well done, and the house smoked old fashioned was also delicious. We then had the Roasted Brussels, and they were absolutely amazing. The combination of honey, balsamic glaze, candied pecans, and parmesan was outstanding. For the main course, I had the Powderhorn Chop, and the flavor was very good. My only critique is that it would have benefited from a stronger sear and a bit more crust on the outside. A little more Maillard reaction, that browning of proteins and sugars that creates deeper savory complexity, would have elevated it even further. We also had a salmon special that evening, and that was outstanding. Dessert was another highlight, especially the warm pecan bourbon pie with ice cream, which was absolutely delicious. Service was a major strength. In addition to Trinity being so warm and attentive, other staff members, including management, came by to make sure everything was going well. We also appreciated that they offer a military discount. This was our first time here, and so far it is the best restaurant we have tried in the Berkeley Springs area. We were told they are expanding, and we are already looking forward to coming back, especially if outdoor seating is added in the future. This feels like exactly the kind of place we will return to often, especially when friends come to visit.

The timing coincided with…read moreVirginia's state tourism office declining to pay a reported ~$360,000 fee to expand Michelin coverage into more of the state. Others see it as part of a wider "reset" affecting other longtime three-star spots like Alinea (Chicago) and Masa (New York), which also dropped to two stars at the same time. I'm not completely sure why the slight decline but here's my honest view. The scenic drive from DC through the Virginia countryside sounds breathtaking--rolling hills, charming small towns, glimpses of Blue Ridge Mountains but in actuality all of the turns and hills made myself and friend sick. We had to pull over and gather ourselves. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, filled with artwork, pink, green and gold monkey wallpaper and Victorian tables, and English country style. It's maximalist--opulent without being stuffy. Our waitstaff made the evening extra special for my birthday. They constantly wished me a happy birthday, asked thoughtful questions about my life, shared jokes, and engaged in small talk that felt genuine and personal. Not to mention the menu with my name. Each course on the 7-course tasting menu was beautifully presented. We loved having three menu options to choose from: a new seasonal tasting (always fresh and surprising), Enduring Classics (with signature dishes like the iconic lobster preparations or herb-crusted favorites), and a full vegetarian Good Earth menu with the eggplant course being our favorite. The unlimited warm bread service with fresh butter and flaky sea salt was a simple but perfect touch. The Champagne options were endless (their wine list is legendary, with a massive cellar and expert sommeliers), and they even offered a dedicated book/menu highlighting rare waters from around the world--everything from iceberg sources to unique mineral springs. I've never seen a water book before. Standouts for me was the caviar egg, lamb main course and tomato amuse-bouche. If you're looking for a special occasion spot (birthday, anniversary, or just because), this is it. Four people will run you around $2500 including drinks. Con- I would work on the cocktail menu (the Diana tasted like cough medicine). Bring back the pear dessert and portion sizes from 12 years ago. My main lamb portion was embarrassing. Reviewers see pictures for example sizes. Please offer a dedicated pescatarian menu. Overall, Chef Patrick O'Connell and his team did a great job.

Okay, my husband and I have lived in VA for about 2 years and have been wanting to visit this…read morerestaurant really since we moved here. We've been lucky enough to dine at a few Michelin star and bib gourmand restaurants ton include some coveted 3 star spots! A few weeks before our res, we saw the Inn was downgraded from 3 to 2 stars and unfortunately, I can see why from this visit. For context, this visit was $1500 for the 2 of us and included one wine pairing and the cheese cow. At that price point, I would say the meal and experience were not worth it. The food: the food was both great and okay. There are a few dishes that are extremely exciting. I had the vegetarian menu, while my husband had the classics. The egg, carpaccio, eggplant, and cheese cow were the stars. Everything else was good, but not outstanding. Pineapple and Pearls (another Michelin restaurant in DC) offers a more exciting menu at about the same price. The service: this is where the loss of a star became annoyingly apparent to me. It might seem bratty, but for $1500 and a Michelin spot, you expect a napkin folded when you get back from the bathroom and adequate spacing between courses. My husband noted he felt the meal was rushed. For one dish, they brought me the wrong silverware and at the end of the meal, they forgot the coffees we ordered and our takeaway gift (little chocolates in a cutesy paper house). They also asked if we wanted time with our cocktails before the meal began and we said yes, but they brought us the cocktail, wine pairing, and first course all at once. The staff is so kind and awesome! I don't want to take away from how welcoming and nice everyone was. The service itself just lacked *at a Michelin star level*. If I was paying, say, $500 instead of $1500, I would be thrilled with the meal! The ambiance is very cool and true to the brand of The Inn. When you leave the bathroom, you'll see all of the historic guests who have eaten out of Patrick O'Connell's kitchen and it feels a bit surreal. The famous chef did his rounds of the dining room, which frankly was the highlight of the night. He's an absolute legend. Okay, that was a long one. To The Inn, I'm sorry! I wish we could say everything was perfection. I know you'll work out the kinks!
