He looked at the bulletin and I asked him if he would perform the work outlined in the bulletin with my parts and he said that if there was any supplied parts that were incorrect or he needed additional parts, he would slap the old parts back in the transmission, push the car outside and would charge me a Second time to do the work. Sounds punitive to me...for no good reason..so please keep my experience in mind when you read all these glowing reviews. I got the job done at K+J Automotive in Hyde Park for $300. Rob and Jerry checked it out promptly, and Rob called a couple of hours later to let me know it was a false alarm. Not only that, but he took the time to give me a detailed education about this car and transmission which will be extremely helpful in the future in deciding how long to keep this car on the road. Could not have been more informative! PLUS - he refused to take any money since he didn't actually need to do any repairs! Transmissions are not something I (or most people) know a lot about. If I was told it needed expensive repairs, I wouldn't have known any different. You can trust them!!! Jerry, Rob and crew are good people. They are competent, professional, prompt, reasonable and just plain nice. The Hyundai dealership noted that I needed to get my transmission serviced a few months back (car is around 78K, and I had already serviced it once before around 55K). I was skeptical, so I wanted a second opinion. I called Jerry's and they explained the policy- bring it in early morning, give them time to look at it and we'll go from there. They called around lunch with good news- nothing wrong with the car! I was curious why I would be told that and the simple answer was, " they wanted to make some $$$ off of you, but your car is fine." I will only go here for transmission issues from now on. I took it to Sharp Transmissions because of the reviews and its a transmission shop. I work on my truck as much as I possibly can but dealing with repairing a transmission is out of my wheel house. I dropped off the truck in the morning and I got a call about 2 hours later. Milt told itme he had inspected the car test drove and it was not the tranny it was the power steering pump that had a small not noticeable leak but the fluid resevoir was almost dry and that was the noise I was hearing coming from the truck. He added power sterring fluid and solved the problem but let me know it something that will need attention down the road. I thanked him I picked up my truck later that evening. Drove the truck home ran like a charm. I will certainly take it to him again when I need work done. The AAA tow truck operator asked me where I wanted it to be towed, and I immediately said "Sharp Transmission." The dropped it off and put the key in the after hours slot. Next day,I called Milt and said, take a look and give me my options. No rush, I said, since I have other cars I can drive. Milt and his crew found some time to not only diagnose the problem (two rubbng hoses put a hole in one), but to repair the problem. Same day! I picked the car up this morning and it is working perfectly. Like I said before, if you are not taking your car to Sharp, you should start doing so. Great service, excellent communication, attention to detail... Highly recommended.

The root cause ended up being a missing NVH foam piece - something simple, but overlooked repeatedly. Bolt also worked directly with my warranty company and made a real effort to get as much covered as possible, which I appreciated. While they were in there, they were upfront about the spark plugs - noting that since access was already open, it made sense to take care of it now rather than paying for the same labor again down the road. That kind of transparency goes a long way. Overall, the team comes across as fair, honest, and focused on doing things the right way. It's safe to say I'll be going back to Bolt moving forward.
