There are a lot of breweries to choose from in Durango, and during our family vacation we tried quite a few of them. One of our favorites was Steamworks Brewery in downtown Durango. The location was perfect for us because we were able to easily walk there from our hotel. We were lucky enough to get outdoor seating, which made the experience even better. It was great to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful Durango weather, and people watch while having dinner. We decided to do a beer flight so we could sample a variety of their beers before committing to a full pint. It was a great way to try different styles, and we each ended up finding a favorite. Everything we tried was really good. My husband liked their Buffalo wings and whiskey burger, I enjoyed the seared tuna bowl, and our kids liked their pizza. It is definitely a busy and popular spot, especially during peak vacation times, so I would recommend putting your name in early and expecting there could be a wait. In our opinion it was worth it. Steamworks had a great casual vibe that worked well for both families and adults wanting to enjoy a brewery experience. The downtown location adds to the charm, and it definitely felt like one of those must visit spots while in Durango. read more

James our server was great, he was attentive and kind without being pushy. The ceviche was good but lacking some on the amount of shrimp. The fish tacos were the highlight with fresh yummy fish. The dirty fries were decent if you don't love pulled pork I'd pass. My drink seemed watered down? I'd be curious to try their beers and ciders. Went here on 6/6/26. Came here for dinner. They were pretty busy when we got there but didn't have to wait. But by the time we left there was a wait. Beer selection is great. From light to dark. Due to the dynamics of kids, sometimes you can go to a restaurant and enjoy yourself or you have to run out because one of your spawn's is having a meltdown. This visit to steam works was the latter so we didn't get to try any of the adult dishes, but what we got was pretty good. Good food, good beer, excellent service. Waiter had solid recommendations. Sat on the patio and they have great shade and the fans and breeze coming through made it comfortable. The French dip had a nice Smokey twist to it. The Caesar salad is not traditional but made with kale and Brussels sprouts but it all goes together really well. Kids enjoyed the grilled salmon and the popcorn chicken. The only thing that wasn't 5 star was the clam chowda, it wasn't a traditional creamy one and while good it wasn't great. read more

Just around the corner from Carver, this spot has dedicated prkg (so you don't have to worry about the parking meters during the weekdays), which is a nice perk in dwntwn Durango! Massive indoor seating and bar area (outside patio seating as well) with fully backed and swivel barstools (which I luv! Not sure why so many places have the backless variety). Staff was courteous and checked in frequently (also kept my water glass full, which I great appreciate especially when working through a 7 taster flight!)! Beers were true to style with their anniversary Barleywine being my fav! Food was also fantastic! I got the whiskey burger (which I had last time) to go and it was so flavorful! Stopped into Steamworks for dinner after a long soak at the hot springs. Our server, Russell, was very friendly and on top of making sure that my friend who has some food allergies got the right ingredients in her order. I got the curry pumpkin soup and a dirty burger with fries. The pumpkin soup was yummy and flavorful. The dirty burger was delicious. The bacon jam and dirty sauce provided the perfect balance of sweet and savory. I wish I had gotten it as a kid's burger, though. The 1/2 pounder was way too much food for me and I was only able to eat half. I also got a Dirty Goat and Stranhattan to drink. They were both just okay. A bit watered down. read more

What a incredible place. Monday night 2 Monday night football games on and the bar was completely full. A wonderful hostess got right with me and gave me a choice of a table. The beer selection is really good and the cocktails almost blew me away on the menu. Food is over the top by description and from what I had which was the Thai peanut salad - had to be one of the best I've ever had! I will have to come back here with some other people so I can try more things My server's name was Gunner and he was great with his recommendations and super kind for talking to such a boring old man :-) he recommended a couple beers to try and so of course I had too. I liked this restaurant has flexible hours when all the others are closed this one is open. We were able to sit on the covered patio it has a nice view of the mountains and pretty flowers in the pots. Very summery vibe. The waitress was super friendly. My complaint was the appetizer. I ordered the mango and shrimp "ceviche" save your money, there was literally ONE entire shrimp all cut up into pieces. Call this appetizer what it is, mango "salsa". I told the waitress " I think they forgot to add the shrimp and she came back and said "well the kitchen said its only $10 so you cant expect much shrimp" wth? Must do if you're in Durango! This spot is popular on weekends or during big games, so plan accordingly or expect a wait. We didn't wait too long and really enjoyed our meal. We started with the Bavarian pretzel, which was served with beer cheese and mustard. It was delicious and fresh! I then had the southwestern burger, which is always a favorite of mine because of the green chilis. The burgers are always cooked nicely (I order medium) and I was able to substitute a side salad, which was easily one of the best side salads I've ever had at a brewery. We are doing dry January, so no beers this time, but had a lovely hop water that they brew there and even left with a growler full. Highly recommend Steamworks for an authentic Durango experience or if you're just trying to catch a game or hangout with friends. It definitely has fun, local brewery vibes. Came here on New Year's Eve after driving 8 hours to Colorado, they took our party of 7 and luckily we were able to join a waitlist ahead of time. I liked my chocolate espresso martini there, it tasted like chocolate milk but was pretty good. I loved the fries here, but I got the bacon cheeseburger and it tasted pretty average. There was nothing special about it and it honestly was pretty bland and needed like more flavor or sauce on it or something. We've been coming to Steamworks for years and had always brought guests there and we all raved about their pizza, especially the Maui Wowie. So much so that our friends wanted to figure out a way to have it shipped to the East coast when they weren't in town. Sadly, we noticed a change last year but it was still pretty decent. Tonight we picked up two pizzas drove home anxiously awaiting our dinner. BLEH!!! Crust was VERY dry and heavy and toppings weren't much better. Had a an order of dirty fries and some nachos. Nachos were quite honestly very good. The dirty fries were not for me but others in our party enjoyed it. Then we ordered we had fish and chips, fish tacos, Indonesian salad with salmon, green chili chicken fried steak , a Cajun boil, chicken Parmesan, Cajun Cavatappi Pasta, bacon royale burger and I had a southwest burger. I asked for a medium rare burger and it came out very well. My daughter also had a burger and it was overcooked as well. I'm always confused by servers who hate their job and act inconvenienced when asked basic questions about menu items. Food was pretty decent but a bit on the pricier side. $17 for a burger must be the going rate to help cover the increased cost of staff. Place was clean and well lit. We were here a couple years ago and the food was pretty good. My husband's muffuletta pizza came out doughy on the center but was eatable on the outside. So this time we asked for the pizza to cook a couple minutes longer. It came out almost burnt. My sand was just ok but not hot.
