I don't know if it can be seen from the photo or not how colossally burnt and hard the chicken fried steak was. To her credit, our kind waitress had the kitchen quickly make me a new one, but honestly it was still borderline inedible. This time, due to the salt. Not only was the meat heavily salted, but the breading was overly salted as well. I couldn't even taste the meat or the breading (or even the potatoes) because it wasn't a giant plate of salt. I ate all the broccolini, a few bites of potatoes, and a few bites of steak. I hate that all restaurants, because of patrons and their salt-conditioned palates, serve the most sodium-laden monstrosities possible. I didn't feel good eating it, I didn't want to eat more than a few bites, and I left the restaurant full of regret for the bites I did take. On the plus side, the beer is exceptionally tasty, and my kids both enjoyed their meals. We are leaving tomorrow and so we won't be back, but I wouldn't be back otherwise as well. read more

Went to watch the final FIFA World Cup game. We had 13 and they were great to hold a table for us. It's a pretty big restaurant with a great beer selection, along with mixed drinks and wine. They also had tons of TVs which was great. Food- 4 stars Service- 5 stars Ambience- 4 1/2 stars Our server (I think Isaac?) was fantastic. He was super busy but always took care of us. We all ordered drinks and some food items. The spinach/artichoke dip was a bit heavy and overcooked. You def could not dip your chips in it. I got the poblano chx fried steak. May 2026 My wife and I were visiting Durango and were in the mood for a good burger for dinner. We asked the front desk clerk at the Marriott for a recommendation, and they suggested Steamworks Brewing, so we decided to give it a try. We chose to sit out on the back deck, which was a great choice. It was much quieter than the inside and made for a relaxing dinner. We both ordered iced tea and the Bacon Royale Burger with pepper jack cheese. The burgers were very good, and I liked that they use a generous 1/2-pound patty. That said, once all the toppings are piled on, the burger gets so tall that it's difficult to take a bite. It would be nice if they also offered a slightly smaller burger for those who don't want quite as much. I also think the price could be a little lower. The fries had a good flavor, but they weren't very hot when they were served. I understand that restaurants often cook fries in batches to keep up with demand, but I'd much rather wait an extra minute or two if it means my fries come out fresh and piping hot with the rest of the meal. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and would definitely return the next time we're in Durango. Enjoyed the food here more than Carver's. Many options for kids that weren't just nuggets and grilled cheese. Sat next to a party of 22 but it was fine. College waiter was dreamy according to husband. He was definitely nice and helpful / knew the menu. They have a meat smoker and the smoked chicken was also dreamy. Tested husband's beer. Came here two nights in a row and have loved it all. A huge building with indoor and outdoor dining. Wait staff with big smiles and great humor. Food was delicious- each dish had a twist on the familiar. My seared ahi tuna salad had farro in it which is rarely used at restaurants I've been to and it added great flavor and texture. Hangar steak with chimichuri sauce added a nice kick of flavor. Lastly was the tiramisu- delicious with house made espresso chocolate sauce. A twist on the traditional dessert. I highly recommend this place for anyone including families with young children as there is a menu for them too. I too will back my next visit to Durango! read more

There are a lot of breweries to choose from in Durango, and during our family vacation we tried quite a few of them. One of our favorites was Steamworks Brewery in downtown Durango. The location was perfect for us because we were able to easily walk there from our hotel. We were lucky enough to get outdoor seating, which made the experience even better. It was great to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful Durango weather, and people watch while having dinner. We decided to do a beer flight so we could sample a variety of their beers before committing to a full pint. It was a great way to try different styles, and we each ended up finding a favorite. Everything we tried was really good. My husband liked their Buffalo wings and whiskey burger, I enjoyed the seared tuna bowl, and our kids liked their pizza. It is definitely a busy and popular spot, especially during peak vacation times, so I would recommend putting your name in early and expecting there could be a wait. In our opinion it was worth it. Steamworks had a great casual vibe that worked well for both families and adults wanting to enjoy a brewery experience. The downtown location adds to the charm, and it definitely felt like one of those must visit spots while in Durango. read more

James our server was great, he was attentive and kind without being pushy. The ceviche was good but lacking some on the amount of shrimp. The fish tacos were the highlight with fresh yummy fish. The dirty fries were decent if you don't love pulled pork I'd pass. My drink seemed watered down? I'd be curious to try their beers and ciders. The wait times for a table are a little long and parking is very hard to find. However, on the weekends, you can park pretty much anywhere after 5. It's a typical pub, a lot of noice. Just around the corner from Carver, this spot has dedicated prkg (so you don't have to worry about the parking meters during the weekdays), which is a nice perk in dwntwn Durango! Massive indoor seating and bar area (outside patio seating as well) with fully backed and swivel barstools (which I luv! Not sure why so many places have the backless variety). Staff was courteous and checked in frequently (also kept my water glass full, which I great appreciate especially when working through a 7 taster flight!)! Beers were true to style with their anniversary Barleywine being my fav! Food was also fantastic! I got the whiskey burger (which I had last time) to go and it was so flavorful! Stopped into Steamworks for dinner after a long soak at the hot springs. Our server, Russell, was very friendly and on top of making sure that my friend who has some food allergies got the right ingredients in her order. I got the curry pumpkin soup and a dirty burger with fries. The pumpkin soup was yummy and flavorful. The dirty burger was delicious. The bacon jam and dirty sauce provided the perfect balance of sweet and savory. I wish I had gotten it as a kid's burger, though. What a incredible place. Monday night 2 Monday night football games on and the bar was completely full. A wonderful hostess got right with me and gave me a choice of a table. The beer selection is really good and the cocktails almost blew me away on the menu. Food is over the top by description and from what I had which was the Thai peanut salad - had to be one of the best I've ever had! I will have to come back here with some other people so I can try more things My server's name was Gunner and he was great with his recommendations and super kind for talking to such a boring old man :-) he recommended a couple beers to try and so of course I had too. We started with the Bavarian pretzel, which was served with beer cheese and mustard. It was delicious and fresh! I then had the southwestern burger, which is always a favorite of mine because of the green chilis. The burgers are always cooked nicely (I order medium) and I was able to substitute a side salad, which was easily one of the best side salads I've ever had at a brewery. We are doing dry January, so no beers this time, but had a lovely hop water that they brew there and even left with a growler full. Highly recommend Steamworks for an authentic Durango experience or if you're just trying to catch a game or hangout with friends. It definitely has fun, local brewery vibes. Came here on New Year's Eve after driving 8 hours to Colorado, they took our party of 7 and luckily we were able to join a waitlist ahead of time. I liked my chocolate espresso martini there, it tasted like chocolate milk but was pretty good. I loved the fries here, but I got the bacon cheeseburger and it tasted pretty average. There was nothing special about it and it honestly was pretty bland and needed like more flavor or sauce on it or something. We've been coming to Steamworks for years and had always brought guests there and we all raved about their pizza, especially the Maui Wowie. So much so that our friends wanted to figure out a way to have it shipped to the East coast when they weren't in town. Sadly, we noticed a change last year but it was still pretty decent. Tonight we picked up two pizzas drove home anxiously awaiting our dinner. BLEH!!! Crust was VERY dry and heavy and toppings weren't much better. Not sure if and when the recipe changed but think about bringing the larger size pizzas and the original recipe back!! I would not recommend this version at all. We were able to sit on the covered patio it has a nice view of the mountains and pretty flowers in the pots. Very summery vibe. The waitress was super friendly. My complaint was the appetizer. I ordered the mango and shrimp "ceviche" save your money, there was literally ONE entire shrimp all cut up into pieces. Call this appetizer what it is, mango "salsa". I told the waitress " I think they forgot to add the shrimp and she came back and said "well the kitchen said its only $10 so you cant expect much shrimp" wth? I'm always confused by servers who hate their job and act inconvenienced when asked basic questions about menu items. Food was pretty decent but a bit on the pricier side. $17 for a burger must be the going rate to help cover the increased cost of staff. Place was clean and well lit. Huge space and good location downtown. Paid parking everywhere so plan for that. read more
