Well this was one dining experience for the books. Should have known when walking into a completely empty establishment for dinner on a holiday weekend. Regardless we opted to sit down and give this spot a try, as we camp right up the street. We were greeted very quickly as I would have hoped, being the only customers at the time. The ladies working seemed very prompt and sat us almost immediately. Sadly that was the height of the overall experience. Once seated we were then greeted and informed they either still haven't obtained/or did not get renewed a liquor license, when attempting to order a beer. With all the bottles of wine on the shelves and wine glasses in the dining area, I found that to be very odd!!None the less we were Instructed that we had ten minutes to run next store to Hopkinton liquor depot( full review to follow/ an epic selection) we would be more than welcome to byob. After doing so, I was able to drink an entire beverage before any of the staff followed up on my order. Regrettably this gave me too much time to change my order( should have stuck with a pizza) My kids are pretty consistent and always order kids tenders and fries so we ordered two orders of those, a roast beef club, and calamari. Yeah mostly fried food that takes literally minutes to cook. I was able to finish another full beverage and waited and waited, wondering what could be taking so long.... Finally about 30 minutes after placing our order, some cold calamari, cold chicken tenders and old roast beef arrived. Everything was edible at best... My boys turned away chicken tenders and fries(which was a 1st) By now it's been over an hour and at this time the beach/golf crowd had showed up. So we waited and we waited to get ahold of our waitress to cash out and take a to go box(should have left the to go box). We had a very friendly waitress stop to drop off the check and box and went on our way. I am not one to complain nor expect anything to be taken off the bill, so we chalked it up as a learning experience of where not to dine in. However I did see some nice pizzas being tossed, so we may call in a pizza order this summer and see what that has to offer!?!? Main take aways are to BYOB and stick to the pizzas!! Clean nice restaurant with a pleasant staff. Regarding the food: Granted, my bar for pizza place is high. I had the Italian sandwich. It was very bland. I couldn't even taste the Provolone. There was zero spice to the meat. It may have been the mountain of shredded lettuce they put on top, but I don't think so as I scraped 25% off. I would recommend more pungent provolone, some added pepperoni and maybe a balsamic vinegar added. read more

I have had take out from this restaurant for years and it has always been decent to pretty good. However, this past weekend I called to order a buffalo chicken grinder and was informed they were out of grinder rolls...at 5:30 on a Friday night when a good portion of your menu is sandwiches, but I digress. I was offered a buffalo chicken calzone instead. What a disaster! Barely any chicken, Ricotta cheese (!!!- who puts only Ricotta cheese in a buffalo chicken calzone???), and buffalo sauce along with pizza sauce in the calzone. Absolutely disgusting. We found Main St quite by accident, but we have bee return customers ever since. I'm a big fan of local pizza places, I like the atmosphere and the usual fare that most of them carry. Main St does NOT disappoint! It's quite surprising to find such a well rounded menu, specifically the seafood. My wife is a big fan of the seafood platter. Firstly because the seafood is so good. Secondly because the portions are HUGE and it's always good for leftovers/late night snack! We love the pizza and grinders, and the Calzones are roughly the size of a pro football! After living in Ashaway for nearly two years, I decided to visit the place after my roommate decided to order delivery. The place is pretty nice for a pizza place. Instead of a generic white walled interior, it had some color with a decent number of seats. There were three beers on tap at a small bar. The waitresses were attentive and the food was served quickly even though it was a fairly busy Friday night. We both ordered the Main Street Special Calzone and I ordered the onion rings as well. I went to this restaurant last night for dinner, it was a bit busy so my boyfriend and I decided to sit at the counter. We sat there for 15 minutes before even getting a menu. When the waitress finally came by to take our order we weren't ready so she bought us drinks and 20 mins later she decides to come back and take our order. It was pretty obvious as our menus were upside down, at the edge of the counter and I kept looking at her to get her attention and she just kept walking past us. We finally got to order our food and as we are sitting there observing our surroundings and the staff, I just so happen to look up and notice there are two fans sitting on top of a shelf, the decorations were nice so it drew my attention up there. So, I kindly got the waitress' attention and asked her want was on the other side of the shelf/wall, and she states oh, that's where we make our sandwiches, and put them together, and cut the pizzas. So I asked, there is food on the other side? Without missing a beat she says yes there is. So, I than asked her why would you have such DIRTY FANS and I pointed to them, blowing down on where you prepare food? She got instantly mad at me! This place is wonderful and packed both times I visited. I live outside Philadelphia and travel by car to Newport RI periodically. The first time we headed home my fiance was hungry after picking him up in Kingston. We sat down at dining bar while we waited for his to-go meatball sub. Everyone was very nice. Now, I don't usually eat meatball subs, because they're messy and I RARELY find a meatball made as delicious as my mother makes them. Her Irish father learned to make them from an Italian guy and my mother can't make less than 70-90 meatballs at a time; that's just how it's done. There are other secrets but I can't divulge here. I also don't frequent small restaurants in small shopping plazas because I'm weird. Anyway, we hit the road and I'm driving because again, I don't eat meatball subs. But the smell overwhelms me and I ask for a small bite. Then another, then another, then another. I'm almost driving off the road trying to get good bites. This sub was one of the best things I have had at a small restaurant. We loved this sub so much that the next time we went to RI, 7 months later!, we made sure to stop on our way home, even though it was pouring and we had a long trip in front of us. Despite it being a Monday and storms in the area, the place was full. We ordered ahead for a to-go order but changed our minds as we walked in the door. What I received was a large order of fries with (9) whole belly clams. what a rip-off, l called to inquire that's was about right, said they portioned them on scale but they declined to tell me weight. Friendly service and awesome food. We are staying at a campground down the road and since it was raining decided we would get pizza for dinner. Make sure you haven't eaten for a couple days because the portions are HUGE and that's no over exaggeration. I have only had the pizza here but watching others get the burgers and the pasta dishes they would be better eating with a shovel. I'm a big fan of chicken bacon ranch and spinach artichoke. Once, the crust was undercooked. I've never been displeased with anything from here though. Main street burger, good. Calzones, good. Parm, awesome. The beer selection is very limited. The desserts are good with big portions. And the decor is red sox/sports themed. There are a few tvs usually on espn. I haven't been here in awhile so I decided to get takeout I ordered a pizza and a main street salad the pizza was a little cold but not too bad the salad I was very disappointed I was looking forward to the salad. The chicken on the salad was hard, cold, and Burnt. The tricolored pasta was hard and looked old. Needless to say I didn't even eat the salad. It was not fresh at all. Could be there just having one of those days but when I went in there no one was in there. SO GOOD!!! For starters we had fried pickles. They were perfect. My daughter enjoyed her caesar salad. I ordered the artichoke and chicken pizza. It was amazing!!!! My husband had fish and chips. He said it was done perfectly. Then my daughter (who's 5) wanted to have spaghetti and meatballs for her dinner. They tasted just like home. I was very pleased with the food. 4/5 stars because... I do have a five year old daughter. She needed to use the washroom. It is a unisex bathroom and had an odor. I was grossed out. Thankfully the food took my thoughts away from the bathroom.
