This pizza spot has been my family's go-to since I was in high school, and coming back home for a visit meant we had to order from here. The nostalgia was real, and I was hoping the food would still taste like it used to -- and it totally delivered. We got a large Meat Mania pizza, a small buffalo chicken pizza, and 6 garlic knots. The Meat Mania was packed with all the classic meats and had a great ratio of toppings to cheese. The buffalo chicken pizza had a nice balance of spice and tang -- not overwhelming, just right. The garlic knots were more on the well-done side this time, so they were a bit chewy and harder to tear apart than usual, but they still had a rich buttery garlic flavor that paired really well with the pizza. I wouldn't say they were perfect this time, but I still enjoyed them. Everything tasted just like I remembered -- the kind of comfort food that hits different when you haven't had it in years. Out for a "Sunday ride" and decided we wanted to give Casa Della Luce another try. We had garlic knots, hubby had a side Caesar salad, and we had a spinach and artichoke pizza, with ricotta and mozzarella cheese. Last time we were here, we left disappointed. This time, we left happy, and full! Garlic knots with marinara, on point! My husband enjoyed his Caesar salad with house made dressing. And the pizza was delicious! The spinach and artichokes had just enough flavor not to be bland. The ricotta was a nice layer - not thick- and flavorful. The crust was light and airy, just enough crunch. Maybe it could have used a drizzle of olive oil after cooking, but it was still very good. Our server, Cassie, has been there for a long time, and was right on top of everything. It was slow... Mid Sunday afternoon, but we know they can get busy. There is a large parking lot, as well as outdoor seating. If new to the area, you could miss it... Stopped here for the first time while visiting RI. Cute little place! They even gave my daughter something to draw with to keep her entertained. The pizza slices they gave were huge! Definitely worth the price. The free bread rolls were good, I almost wish they had more seasoning or flavor though. The fettuccine Alfredo had fresh broccoli in it and was delicious. Also got penne vodka which was good as well, not too strongly flavored and cooked just right for firmness. The waitress was nice and checked in as well. We will stop again next year! read more

Nothing much here. While definitely not bad, there isn't anything good about the pizza here. Thin crust, a nice sauce and a decent cheese and crust but really nothing good about it. Casa Della Luce used to be our go-to place for garlic knots, salads, pizza, and entrees. We went last night after a bit of a pause visiting. We were so disappointed. A few of the garlic knots were good, and two were burned. The wait person brought one of our two salads at the same time(?) as the pizza. We ate some pizza, which was crisp to the point of being difficult to eat. Definitely overcooked! Another wait person offered to box our leftover pizza, as our wait person had disappeared. We sat for a few more minutes, and the one entree we ordered finally arrived. A few minutes later, the salad I expected before dinner, arrived. I indicated I no longer wanted it, since I had expected it much earlier. The manager came over, and indicated that we would not be charged for the salad. What a bargain, not having to pay for the food I did not eat! To be clear, it was a Sunday night, and the restaurant was hardly busy. There were probably no more than five other tables, none with more than four people, and most with two. We are in no hurry to return. read more

I just wanna start by saying I love this restaurant. The food is phenomenal, best vodka sauce in town. but for years I have asked them and told them that they should stop packing the salads with their hot food. i haven't ordered in a long time and i forgot to ask them over the phone to be separate but I'm sorry if someone spends 30+ dollars on one meal that comes with a salad, but the salad is steaming hot that's disgusting. I'm literally a general manager of a restaurant and we would never pack a cold salad with a hot pasta. I truly hope you guys see this and learn from this experience. First time stopping when in the area. (As we are from out of state.) In my opinion the chicken/broccoli Alfredo was bland- no cheese taste really, and the kids pasta and butter was more like a bowl of melted butter with some pasta. Salads were okay. Clam chowder with fritters were odd. (Got it to go)..Clam chowder hardened with a thick butter layer on the top when cooled, there wasn't any clam and very thick (maybe too much starch). The clam fritters also had no clam, just 3 tiny seasoned balls barely the size of munchkins from Dunkin. Has to be the worst clam chowder and fritters I've ever had in the state of RI (especially near the coast- thinking it would be fresh)I really was hoping to make this a place I go back to when visiting. After a sunny walk on a nearby beach we were famished and stopped in for some pizza. They offer both Sicilian thick crust an NY style thin. The day was sunny and we had originally planned to dine indoors. A waitress assisting customers on the patio let us know to sit 'anywhere' and she would be with us shortly. Unfortunately, the music inside was loud and 'twangy'. No idea who it was and I'm not familiar with the style. It seemed more appropriate for at-home enjoyment, by those who appreciate the genre. We moved out into the sun. We selected a large, thin crust pizza to share and two adult beverages. Although the beer and wine selection is modest it covers a good range of choices. We saw others eating pizza by the slice and those slices are huge. Their '2 slices and a soda' option would certainly fill you up. Our pizza arrived. It looked well cooked and had a fair amount of toppings. At first bite the crust was crispy, but the pizza had. . . no flavor? Now this is my experience, and there are plenty of reviews that rave about the pizza. This is my experience. Take it or leave it. The thin crust was not as thin as I would expect on a NY style thin crust pizza. The very bottom of the dough was crispy at first, but between the outer crust and the sauce it was 'doughy'. The sauce is very bland. It is a light, crushed tomato variety, which I actually prefer over a heavy sauce. This sauce however would benefit by using San Marzano tomatoes for their 'bright' flavor and a bit of added garlic and/or oregano. Anything really. I couldn't taste the sauce at all. The cheese was 'sriingy' as we do love our pizza to be. Again, there was no real flavor associated with the cheese. Maybe if we got a pizza loaded with meat it would translate better. I ate one piece at the restaurant because it really wasn't worth the chewing effort. I re-cooked a slice at home in my skillet to cook the 'doughy' crust, and added basil and good olive oil after it was done cooking. That was a definite improvement. Unfortunately, the after affects were very unwelcome. Yes, I'm sure it was the pizza. Other than tea, it was the only thing I ate that day, so no doubt it was the pizza's revenge on my digestive tract. As you see, it didn't turn out at all well for us in the food department. The waitress was excellent. The prices are no surprise. The interior looked very clean. They use nice heavy silverware. Parmesan and hot pepper flakes were offered with the pizza. All good stuff. Came here last week for a small family reunion of sorts. Oldest son is in college and middle son is serving in the military. The stars happened to align and everyone was home for a few short days. We decided to eat here. We were a party of 6. An older couple who came in about 5-10 minutes after us (I mean when we got seated there was another couple who just finished up, they left, their table got cleaned off and THEN this new couple came and sat at this table) got their orders taken before us and their food obviously came before ours as well. They also were offered the complimentary pizza slices that Casa always used to offer. But my last 4 or 5 trips here either they didn't give us the complimentary slices, or they didn't have any, or we had to ask to get them. So not sure what the deal is any more. My dish was very tasty. I had the veal Marsala. It was even better the day after. 2 of the pizzas we ordered were dry as hell. The taco pizza barely had any toppings on it. The meat was practically dehydrated. I think there was 1 or 2 crushed up tortilla chips. I think the whole thing had 2 tablespoons AT MOST of meat. The white clam pizza maybe had 5 clams worth of meat. No sauce. It needed olive oil or something. It needed a lot of help. And the toppings were in like the middle 4 inches of the pizza. We are frequent diners at Casa Della Luce. It's our favorite restaurant in town. The service here is always fantastic, no matter which server waits on us. They are attentive, come back to check on us, friendly and professional. The pasta that comes with most dishes is homemade and cooked to perfection. We recommend the eggplant fries as an appetizer, crispy on the outside and delicious eggplant wedges inside. They're served with marinara. The chicken Marsala is one of our favorites! We were in the area and didn't feel like going home to deal with dinner so Casa Della Luce came to the rescue. I quickly looked up restaurants in the area on Yelp and this one came up. It looked perfect. A quick stop for a delicious meal with no frills - my kind of place. We arrived Sunday night, just after their dinner rush and ended up being the only ones dining at that time. We felt bad but they still had a couple hours before closing and our server had a bunch left to do, so we didn't feel like, nor were we treated like we were inconveniencing them. We both started with a caesar salad and it was as delicious as our server mentioned. The romaine was crisp, and the caesar dressing had the right amount of tang to it. Definitely tasted homemade. Simple yet delicious. I had the Casa Special Pizza - Pepperoni, homemade meatballs, sausage, peppers, mushrooms,onions, Casa pizza sauce & mozzarella cheese. HOMEMADE PASTA! All dishes are served with homemade pasta!! This wasn't even mentioned on the menu but I knew immediately upon that first bite. I clarified with our server, Cassidy. I want to take a moment to discuss the superb service we were provided by Cassidy. I waitressed for 14 years at all types of restaurants- super fancy, waterside hot spots, casual mom and pop places, etc. I understand everything that goes into exemplary service. Cassidy went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. When I asked for crayons for my nephew she came back with a digitized etch-a-sketch thing that made so much more sense for the rest. Business (crayons break and wind up everywhere, they are difficult to sanitize, and require frequent replacing). My nephew hadn't eaten all day. The day before, we ordered pasta with butter at very popular restaurant that shall not be named. It was disgusting. Over cooked, mushy, not even hot. Truly, how a place could charge 10$ for a kids bowl of nasty A$$ gruel is beyond me. When he tried the pasta that Cassidy brought out very quickly, he immediately said "mmmmm" and did his thing. All of our dishes were great and fairly priced. My sister took a bite of her husband's chicken parm and liked that more than her scampi. Being the awesome dude that he is, he switched plates. Cassidy made sure to come over and say that she noticed this swap and she would be more than happy to replace my sister's dish with something else. That wasn't necessary, my B.I.L. We joyed the scampi- but think about that. When was the last time a server noticed something like that and proactively offered to exchange your entree? Superb service is not just being polite and responsive- it's anticipating and being proactive. When my sis asked for plain rolls for my nephew because he can't eat the garlic, she offered for them to bake a whole new round. Again, we didn't accept that offer because it wasn't necessary. My husband and I would absolutely recommend this place! We thought the food was fantastic, price was not as expensive as it could've been for the area and they have the option of indoor or outdoor dining. We went on a Thursday evening and it was very busy. They did not seem to have enough help so it took a very long time to get the food and our waitress could have probably checked in a bit more. I had the homemade pasta with meatballs, which I thought was a decent size and very tasty. My husband had the chicken marsala with homemade pasta and clam chowder which he thought was also delicious. Just ordered takeout. We ordered 2 clam chowders, we were informed that they were "out of the fritters" fine, but you still charged us the regular price? $6.00 for a tiny cup of chowder, maybe 4oz? That didn't come with the fritters. So basically, $12 for what would equal a small bowl of chowder. It's not even good, way too much butter/fat and flour. Maybe the fritters would have been the saving grace? The kids pasta and meatballs looked literally thrown into the container. The kids chicken and fries looked less sloppy, but that's to be expected. The pepperoni pizza tastes OK, but is small for the price. We'll never go back, way better options for the money. They should be ashamed charging $6 for a minuscule amount of chowder that didn't include the fritters that are supposed come with it. Don't waste your time here. Go somewhere else to get quality food with people that take pride in what they do. read more
