There's a reason the wait can be long and you can't get through on the phone - the pizza is awesome and the locals know it. It's a small hole in the wall place. Workers are great but always really busy so be patient. Dough is amazing, cheese and sauce super yummy. It was cooked absolutely perfectly. I had to come in and order in person cuz we couldn't get through on the phone. Walked around downtown for a bit, bought some nice wine next door, and came back to the pizza parlour to a line of folks almost coming out the door! Thankfully the workers recognized us when we walked inside and waved us over to the front where they promptly handed us our prepaid pizzas and we dashed out the door before the line of people were tempted to take one of our pizzas. Tip: when placing your order go ahead and pay as it makes the pick up process go much quicker. ;) read more

If you want to know if a pizza dive is good, sit and watch. It's Monday and we arrive early, around 5:30. There is no line but there is a steady stream of people coming in. I would say, one very 4 minutes. And they seem to be regulars. I had the wings and my fellow diner and wife had the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. No pizza but a lot of people ordered pizza. My friend tells me the smash burger is great. I thought the sandwich could use more cheese. It was overstuffed and very good but would be better with more cheese. Next time we will address that when we order. The wings were hot and delicious but I would like more garlic-parm on them. We will return. I am guessing you should also but can't say for sure. We did not have the pizza. I should add, no frills. The tables (5) are worn but clean. There is a difference between eat in and take out for our meals. What you ask? Ordered a jumbo 20" cheese pizza and was ready in like 30min on a Friday night. Came to under $18 before a tip and definitely a solid pie for that price! Pizza is NY style with light sauce and awesome cheese mix on top. Cheese is thick and the sourdough is delicious. Could have had it a little more well done but that's personal preference. I ordered some slices the other day while in town. Unfortunately I gotta give it three stars - it was a well-prepared pizza cooked with mediocre ingredients. It ultimately left me conflicted- the crust was fantastic! But the sauce tasted off- a bit too sweet, and the mushrooms were rubbery. Saying they obviously came out of a can is a cop-out; all of your ingredients are going to come from a supply company and you can absolutely get good quality prepared ingredients from Sysco. I don't doubt the five star reviews here; the guys can clearly make good pizza, but my slices were off. read more

This place is ridiculous.. everytime.i order from them they mess my order up.. and I have never said anything until now .but I'm tired of it. I even had the guy calculate my order read my order back to me. I ordered one and a half dozen wings pizza and a drink. Only got 12 wings was even told I was charged for the dozen and a half then they tell me that I only ordered 12... done with this place . When I'm in town and craving pizza this is my go to spot. The pizza is everything I look for, tastey sauce, good amount of cheese and always cooked perfectly so it has that nice crunch. We swung into here for a quick bite to eat on our way into town to see the ice castle. The place was swamped when we came in. Only 1 seat available (tiny place) and the workers were running on overdrive with the orders being called in. They took care of us pretty decent considering how busy they were. The pizza was pretty good....no complaints. The wings were mediocre. Wouldn't get those again. Would I stop again? Sure....would I say you've gotta try this pizza place? No. One bizarre thing... Stopped by to grab a quick lunch to go as I wanted to check out the flume north of Lake Placid. Ordered a large 20" pizza for about 17$ after factoring in tax. It was about average but quite tasty with a healthy heaping of garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Ended up barely finishing half of the pie and saving the rest for breakfast when back in NJ. Renuking the pizza in the microwave, it wasnt too bad. If you are looking for other items such as sandwiches or topping and variation on Italian with a bit of Mexican, try this place out. Great pizza! I came in and asked for two large pizzas (cheese & buffalo) and to pick them up 45 minutes later. No issues. It's a hole-in-the-wall joint but the employees were super friendly. This place came highly recommended, but the food was poor. I ordered a pizza with 3 items and some chicken tenders. The pizza was burnt and dry, and the chicken tenders were so dry and tasteless that my dog would not even eat them. Sorry but this place was expensive and the food was terrible. read more

Absolutely delicious. Pizza is flavorful and the wings are good (at least the boneless ones are). The poutine is my favorite even though they don't use cheese curds. The fries are crispy as well. Would recommend splitting the small size with someone since it is pretty large. Maybe because I grew up with this pizza but everytime I come back home I have to stop by to grab a slice. In brooklyn you can get an amazing slice but somehow it doesnt compare to what you are use too. The sauce is unique (maybe because its sweet??) and the crust is soft and crunchy. Owl's Nest is in many ways your typical pizza and sandwich joint. It's my kids' favorite in Saranac Lake to get pizza, though Little Italy is also good. Owl's Nest Mexican stuff is also pretty good. But I'm writing this mostly because I finally tried their French fries the other day (my son shared some with me). They are as good as any I have had anywhere, incredibly crispy and tasty!
