This was a find! Didn't find it on Yelp this morning when we searched for a breakfast place. We are stranded in Soldotna with the mud slides in Cooper Landing. They should be cleared by noon so we were looking for a place to have a sit down breakfast before heading North. Nothing on Yelp but we drove through Soldotna and saw Ido's was open before 9am! We stopped in. The waitress was beautiful, young and pleasant. I had a veggie omlette. My husband had coffee and eggs with reindeer sausage. We both had hash browns. The atmosphere was quiet. Lots of decorative touches. The prices were typical Alaska. read more

This "diner" is simply over priced. Theres not an affordable option on the menu!!! Was hoping for some eggs and toast not to max out my credit card . And the eggs... HOLY OIL. Food - waffles cold. Gravy for biscuits was lumpy (flour) with no flavor. Prices were a little spendy. Server used the same disposable gloves to wipe the floor, wash dishes and deliver our plates. Restaurant was nice though. read more

The food is average for a breakfast diner. My issue is the price. It was $22 for what looks to be one egg scrambled, 4 pieces of bacon and two average size pancakes. I expressed my shock to the manager or owner, and she dismissed me saying it was not expensive, she was offended that I mentioned that. So I thought hmm maybe with inflation the prices are higher now so I did a little research. At snow city cafe in Anchorage, which is one of our nicest breakfast style diners the SAME meal is $16.00 the deadliest catch breakfast which is a hell of a lot more food than I pictured below is $19.00. So I looked at a similar average breakfast diner like IDOs, called Heidi's. The meat and egg combo with two pancakes is $14.95. More food given. What the heck? My question is.. are they taking advantage of inflation and over charging their customers? I don't find this right or fair to their customers. I will not be back. read more

This place has become a favorite breakfast place for me. They open early, every day, but they close at three during the fall and winter months. A breakfast at 7-7:30am is hard to find in Soldotna. I usually sit at the counter for quick, excellent service. Their 2-egg or 3-egg set-menu combinations have something for everyone. My favorites are the 3-egg with hash browns, and toast or English muffin; or, the 2-egg with 4 sausage links, hash browns, and toast or English muffin. I also order these egg breakfasts with 2 large pancakes, without the hash browns or toast/English muffin. The pancakes are very good. Breakfast is served until closing time. The menu is fairly large and sandwiches and burgers are available. However, I come in for their quick breakfasts. read more

Ate breakfast there this morning. I asked for the hash browns to be cooked with very little oil. The cook did a great job on the hash browns as well as the ham omelet. It was nice and hot off the grill. The menus said they will sell breakfast any time of day. Service was cheerful and very good. And the dining room was very clean. They also had a wide variety of menus options throughout the day. I will visit here more often. read more

We have dined here before and had spotty luck with service. Today's experience was horrible in large part to the owner berating her employee in the middle of the restaurant for bringing a table extra napkins they requested. Next, we witnessed another table request cheese and onions for their soup, the same employee asked the owner for onions and cheese, and the owner said no to the employee. After the employee relayed the information to the guest, the owner came out and offered the onion and cheese to the guest. Our table was wholly ignored, save to drop the bill for our mediocre food. Save your time and money--McDonald's is two blocks down the road. read more

We we're visiting Alaska and had expected the fish and chips to be locally sourced like several other diners we have enjoyed in the Kenia Peninsula. This is not that kind of place. We are always satisfied with Ido. It is our go-to breakfast diner. We will drive all the way from North Kenai just for breakfast. They have all-day breakfast and are open 7 days a week. Servers are kind and quick. They play decent music and the dining area is always peaceful. The food is quick and delicious and the portion sizes are very generous. This is the ONLY restaurant on the upper peninsula that serves a decent portion of Hash Browns. read more

The portions and flavor were great according to my party. I on the other hand refused to eat once I decided I would NOT be tipping the waitress. We were instructed to sit ANYWHERE when we walked in. The only tables available had flags on the for parties of 5 or more (which is a violation of Alaska laws). We sat in one of the tables that were available as we were a party of four and instructed to sit ANYWHERE. The waitress was immediately passive aggressive about the fact that we sat there and asked for individual checks. Her attitude stunk. When we attempted to clear up the issue she refused to apologize. I would have left then and there, but out of respect for the remainder of the party I grabbed a fig bar from the car and ate in the restaurant. I refused to even consume the coffee I ordered. It's not a surprise she wasn't wearing a name tag. An older lady with a cross that would do better to be hidden under her shirt, as she wore it poorly. She rivaled the fakest pleasant tone of voice I've ever heard, reminded me of Professor Umbridge from Harry Potter. Locals welcome at this joint - tourists no so much I guess. She got a crappy tip from a party that typically would have tipped her at least $40.00. The next day we opted for food from a gas station over this establishment. This restaurant is new to us, although the server said they had been here for three years. We decided to try it on a Saturday afternoon. The service was good, nothing over the top but we felt like the server was nice, helpful and timely on bringing our drinks and food. We had breakfast (served all day) for lunch, which was at least four stars. I had the French slam, a Denny's knock of with French toast, bacon, sausage and eggs. Reasonable price for the quality and quantity of food. Bacon and sausage were delightful; not too dry or too greasy. Overall we would come back. The restaurant looked clean and semi modern. Huge portions. Decent diner kids menu. Was starving after a morning on the Kasilof and breakfast options were quite limited on a Sunday surprisingly. Avoided any gravy dishes due to previous reviews and curious when they call it "homemade gravy" (is it really? And I have a bit of a pet peeve with that, it should be called "house-made" as this isn't your home...). Had the corned beef hash and eggs - that selection was offered with choice of pancakes OR hashbrowns and toast. Hash was a decent canned variety, cooked crisp, my over hard egg cooked perfectly to accompany it. The pancakes were good! Sweet enough so I just added butter and couldn't eat both of them. Kiddo had the kids French toast, which she inhaled simply buttered, along with the bacon. Hubby had a bacon, tomato, cheese omelet which looked good and he ate every bite. English muffin toasted crisp and served buttered. Typical American breakfast fare and better than Denny's or any other diner chain. Hit the spot! read more

What a disappointment! We walked out after waiting over 30 minutes for a simple common breakfast of eggs hash browns and toast.

DO NOT go is the best tip I can give for this restaurant. My 10yr old son and I went there for lunch. We walked in only about 5 tables of guests and it appeared to have 3 waitresses. Our waitress came over an took our order within 10 min which was good. Not overly friendly but not bad. We ordered 2 chicken noodle soups and 2 ham cheese sandwiches on wheat. It took a little while to get our food. When the waitress came with the food she set mine in the table no problem but for my sons she got a bit distracted and dumped a fourth of the hot soup on my son and half of the sandwich. She grabbed a rag and wiped up part if the soup and then picks up the sandwich that fell on the bench seat put it back in the plate and handed to my son to eat. I told her she needed to bring him a new sandwich. She says ok cause it's soggy. ??? She took the soup that was left in the bowl and placed it in front of my son and took the plate with the dirty soggy sandwich to the back and told the cook that we needed another sandwich cause that one was soggy I traded plates with my son I had to fish out the abundance of onions that was in the soup for my son to eat as it was more of onion soup with some noodles as garnish and the noodles were kind of greyish color The ham cheese sandwich was mediocre Our server never came back to our table Another server brought the replacement sandwich and asked how our meal was I explained we were dissatisfied and she said oh We were charged for the full meal It was $22 We will not be going back If I could give negative star I would read more

Came here for my last breakfast in town around 11am. It was quite busy! And then I realized it's a Saturday morning. Ordered their reindeer sausage skillet with melted cheddar cheese-topped hashed browns, country gravy and a butter toasted English muffin. It was SOOOOOO goooooooooOOOod!!! The ladies at the counter were so sweet and attentive despite the busyness; vibe is very friendly. The food is American diner and I guess that applies to the decor too. The food is decent to good and the prices are in line with the area. Good place for breakfast or a burger/sandwich. Wouldn't take a date there to impress. Service has always been friendly and prompt unless they are super slammed even then it's still friendly. I wish I could give a better review, 4 star, because once my food arrived it was good food for the price. But sorry, service just was terrible. The waitresses weren't the problem, it was the understaffed super slow kitchen. Atmosphere feels just like a roadside IHOP. Nothing cozy, pretty or Alaskan like. Good food, but not such good service. We were pleased with their tasty, plentiful breakfast plates. However, the waitresses looked as though they did not care at all about the service they were providing us. They walked around in slow motion and were not in the least bit conscious of their customers' needs. At one point, we had been out of water for a while and were parched, yet we could not flag down our waitress as she was just leaning against a wall staring into space for quite a while. After frantically waving our arms for a couple minutes, we finally found a waitress to request water from. She seemed very annoyed that we were asking for more water.
