I am thrilled to say that I've found that quality of care for my "furry family" at Brenford Animal Hospital, P.A. at their 4118 North DuPont Hwy in Dover location. I am a recent permanent resident of Dover and had adopted my furry felines just before the pandemic shut everything down. As both had all their vaccines etc., were in good overall health, and remained completely "indoor" pets, I had no need to seek any medical attention for either of them until now. I never had felines before and although I did have a wonderful four-legged furry friend for many years before them, she was of the canine breed. Needless to say, felines are totally different. When my "Oreo" exhibited the need for medical attention I looked for reviews for Veterinarians in the area. I write this review because generally people write complaints about experiences, but sadly when they are happy neglect to write compliments and give thanks to those companies and peoples that deserve gratitude to be spelled out. I want people to know about Brenford Animal Hospital, P.A. at 4118 Noth DuPont Hwy in Dover, DE. From my initial call just before the practice closed for the day, through the past few days of communication, everyone I've interacted with at this practice has been wonderful! I don't say that lightly either. By the time I assessed that Oreo needed medical attention and located a veterinarian practice it was near the closing of their work day. Megan was my first point of contact she listened to the concerns I had for Oreo, spoke with the doctor and discusses some options. I ultimately, called back just a few minutes before they closed, spoke with Megan again and booked Oreo for a morning appointment. Megan didn't rush me off the phone, she afforded me time beyond closing to begin the paperwork needed for the morning appointment - she could have had me go "online" to do it myself but graciously extended to me the courtesy of doing it for me and didn't make me feel for a moment that I was imposing on her. My husband and I took Oreo in for the morning appointment, and we both were impressed at the cleanliness of the office and of the examination room. Jacquelynn assisted Dr. Kern's and was the first to interact with Oreo. She was wonderful with him. He has never let a human handle him for the length of time that she needed to and it was as if he'd always known her. I was so impressed! Dr. Kern also had that same effect on Oreo. Oreo had a thorough exam and we were given guidance of what we needed to do to help him get well. I spoke with Dr. Kern's the following day via phone for follow-up and also went into the office to get some recommendations on "treats" for Oreo and Steven at the reception desk listened to my concerns and helped me. I truly felt every person I've identified in this review cared for Oreo's wellness and was compassionate to my concerns for caring for him. They are truly a "team" and clearly share the same attributes that create a practice environment that is exceptional! I thank them and am so thrilled that they are in my community! I know that my furry family will always have the best of care for their medical needs at this practice and which them all professional and personal success!

Instead of doing the X-ray when there they make a second appointment for us to bring her in for X-rays. Makes no sense. Had our cat in there numerous times for vomiting and diarrhea, was told on numerous occasions she had fleas (never saw one flea on this cat) she has worms or a parasite (no worms in her stool) end up up the emergency vet when she started vomiting blood. (Also she was an indoor cat, never went outside) They do a X-ray and the cat had upper gi cancer. We know the cat was most likely terminal now but if they had done a X-ray or ultrasound we certainly could have made her final days more comfortable and with the proper medication prolonged her life a little. We are very upset about this, they gave us worm medication and antibiotics that was it and we returned numerous times about her vomiting numerous times a day. I feel like they just google your pets symptoms and treat for whatever Google says. If you love your animal don't go here. It's not about the amount we spent at the emergency vet if she was diagnosed properly and treated she would have been more comfortable in the end. Why is it so difficult for them to take a X-ray or ultrasound, do they even own the equipment to do so ? I use to think highly of this place when Dr Hammer was there but no more.

The staff there is always kind, and being that Roxee is our baby, we wouldn't trust her with anybody else but them. The building is very clean. Very much so, that when we take Rox into pet stores, we carry her instead of letting her touch the nasty floors, but not at this vet office. We find it clean enough to let her roam around freely on it. Yeah. We're thoooose types of dog parents. We just love her, and Dr Boggs!

Have taken my small dogs there for 8+ years. They no longer send pet reminders for exams, vaccines. Just noticed one of my dogs is way over due for vaccines. Scheduling for a dental consult is two months out?!? A specialty Veterinary practice called Red Lion and was treated rudely. I believe they have skilled Veterinary techs but they are short staffed.

The vet that worked on her came out and told me after he closed her up the first time she was still bleeding real bad. He had to go back in and put her to sleep and open her up the second time. So I had to sit and wait an extra hour for her to wake up off the anesthesia. When they brought her out to me they had her in some kind of suit. The lady was carrying her and she said it was a space suit. She said she would carry her to my truck and they had raped her and she told me to take the bandages off. When I got home that night I took the bandages off. I couldn't believe my eyes. I never seen anything so bad in my whole life. She was so swollen and bruised in between. Her two back legs was so swelled. They look like giant blood blisters. They gave me enough meds for 7 days and and said rest. I stayed with her in my bedroom around the clock and kept icing her down. When I called and said how swelled she was that's what they told me to do after a week and a half bleeding had never stopped. It wasn't real bad thick drops but steady and then it got a little worse and he told me to put a Band-Aid on her so I was using big band needs. Every time I took one off it was so filled with blood. I couldn't believe it. So I took. I called and said she was in pain and I need it more medicine. I'm still thinking well. Some swelling went down and don't look as bad. I was praying she'd be okay. They told me I would have to bring her in to get the medicine so I did why there? I told him bleeding never stop. Is she bled on their floor where I was sittinI told the lady at the receptionist she went and got a mop and mopped it up. They gave me more meds and told me the same thing. Rest and I left within 21 days from surgery to the day she bled out and died in my arms. I left another review. It would be the first review and I put pictures with it but it looked like things were changed around and it was set so I added it and I'm rewriting it now. I don't know if They'll let me post pictures to show you how bad it was. I called there said I would like to talk to the vet that did the mass removal on my dog. She passed away and they said they were so sorry and they would have him call me a week. Maybe a little over a week later. He called. I told him you went in twice. You had to do something wrong the first time for her to bleed like that for you to go back in the second time. He called me delusional and asked me can I prove it? I got pictures of before I brought her there and look great and I got pictures when they were done with her she looked so bad he had to know something was wrong for him to opened her up twice. He just prolonged her death. She suffered for 21 days before her passing. He told me the second time he went in. He tied everything off and she'd be okay. Just rest and medicine from surgery to the day she passed was exactly 21 days. I googled it about if a vet opens the dog up twice and it told me that yes that's not good. I experience that should know better and if she died within 21 days that's why she died because she was opened up twice. If you would have just told me the first time before he opened her up the second time because everybody makes a mistake that he hits something and couldn't stop the bleeding and had to know she was going to pass away. He just let her suffer. I would have just had her put down so she didn't suffer. I am very hurt that he has denied anything to do with her passing. I'm very mad. He opened her up twice. Never asked me. Could he go back in twice or did I want him to go back in? He just did it on his own. I lost my best friend my companion. She was all I had. She went everywhere with me and did everything together. She is very missed. I'm lost . and he still hasn't taken responsibility for what happened to her. I believe he's mean and selfish and knowing she was going to pass and he let her suffer for the 21 days. All I've done is cry. I can't believe I took her for a small Mass removal to make sure she was okay and I was so happy to go get her and then he came out and told me he had it open her twice and when I took her him and seen her it was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life. I had to watch my dog suffer for 21 days. Why he was in denial until her death? Dr Quin did the surgery I'm not from PA in from Newcastle Delaware.

Cathy treats your pet as her own. My boy had a swollen ear. My vet said kennels won't take dogs…read morewith drains so we were going to do it as soon as we got back. After being dropped off at Square Dog Ranch a couple hours later Cathy said dog has a high fever. I had no idea. she contacted me and went to emergency vet. Clyde has a serious ear infection and the vets put a drain in his ear and Cathy would look after it. She also had him recheck before we got home. Week later we take him for his last recheck and he is doing wonderful. I will forward be grateful for the love and care Cathy and her crew gave my dog.

We called ahead to make plans for a burial on a family members farm. During the examination I got the feeling that this may not be her last day. Dr. Mowell suggested that we try some medication to ease her pain. We were able to talk at length with her and were encouraged to see if some medication wouldn't give her a better quality of life. In our brief time here in the area we have used every veterinarian within 20 miles. Today we decided that we would look no further. She did not reccomend expensive testing or lab work. It was simply let's just try this first. She spent quite a bit of time with us and we left her office feeling that we had done the right thing for Angie today. Her charges were surprisingly minimal. I think our search is over we have found a wonderful veterinarian. Angie is a lucky little girl
