Their care is inconsistent since they went corporate. Vets and techs do not stay with them, which concerned me. When I voiced my concern, they dropped me as a client after over 10 years. Fortunately, I found another veterinary clinic which was a better fit for me and my pets. I like a consistent relationship with my veterinarian. They typically are good, but took our fur baby to get its nails clipped. I showed the Vet one of its nails, as it didn't look right. Was told to 'keep an eye on it".... Only to turn around less than a week later because it was horribly red and swollen. Was given antibiotics and another medication, totally well over $240. Now my question is; Why didn't the Vet inspect it more and a saline wash would have prevented this painful abscess on our fur baby. Lack of concern unless it brings in $$$! read more

This place is a great place for pet care. The vets are all very thorough and helpful. The prices are pretty steep here, for my dogs yearly exam, vaccs, feces test it's $400 and that's not including the flea and heart worm prevention pills. We used to have two dogs so the bill would be pretty high but it's worth it. They are all knowledgeable and you can tell they care so much about their patients. It's very easy to get an appointment and your pets medical records as well. The place is clean but you can definitely smell The animal scent in there and the interiors are looking older. read more

Heartless: No compassion for the Tears of a 5 month old Puppy and her Disabled Woman Veteran Mommy I was lost for 7 days and 6 nights. My Mommy took me to Main Street Veterinary Clinic for Emergency Care. She realized she had left her wallet home. They wouldn't release me and my medications until she went home and returned with payment. They had no compassion whatsoever. She's paid all their bills on the spot. BUT, they held me hostage when she could have called in her payment information when we got home. She had no reason to fleece them. She was wet, muddy with cuts and bruises from walking through the sludge, creeks, bramble, thickets and thorny bushes. She was bleeding from from head to toes and traumatized from searching for me from dawn to dusk daily. I was in bad shape too and wanted to go home with my mommy too. No Compassion! They wouldn't book the appt because the exotic might be in distress and go on to explain to me that they are not an emergency vet. This makes no sense to me. I brought my dog in today for grooming and had a wonderful experience. Everyone on the staff is kind and could not have been sweeter to my girl. She gets nervous during grooming and needs medicine to help her relax and the staff was great with keeping her comfortable. Main Street Veterinary Hospital was a drive for us, so we hadn't gone in years. However, due to local issues, we needed their help and they came through for us. They were able to schedule euthanasia for my dying cat that morning. My daughter and I brought her in and after a brief, caring examination, they gave us options for memorials and let us know we could stay with Lacy for the procedure. They took her out of the room briefly to insert the catheter and gave us all the time we needed before we approved the injection. We were able to hold our sweet baby during the process and lovingly kiss her goodbye before we left. The kindness and compassion shown by the whole place, from those who answered the phone to the vet tech and vet herself, was beyond amazing. Words cannot properly express my gratitude. read more

Our primary animal hospital is Garden Ridge for most of our fur babies, however when they are unable to get us in urgently, they referred us to Main Street Vet Hospital and both docs (Brashear & Wuensche) have been absolutely wonderful to our babies. Most recently our Kita was hunting squirrels and cut her shoulder. Main Street got us in quickly and took care of our girl. The next day, we noticed what seemed to be a pocket of fluid just below where her laceration was so I called at almost closing hour and it wasn't an issue for them to see Nakita again and fix her up for us quickly. We truly appreciate Dr Wuensche, Elliott and the team for helping us rest easier with this issue as well as Dr. Brashear, Sandy and others in helping us figure out what was going on with Luna. They talked me through everything on the phone, and the vet Dr. Brashear, was patient and knowledgeable. They even texted a pic so I could see that my fur baby was happy and doing well. I am a little confused by some of the reviews here, because that hasn't been my experience at all. I first went to them when my extremely elderly Pomeranian was dying and my regular vet wasn't in yet. They took me right in, euthanized him, and they were super kind even though we weren't regular patients. This made a big impression. I next went to them after 2 different vets failed to help my other pets. I have a diabetic Pomeranian and I was provided with almost no information from the other vets besides give her this insulin and we will do a glucose curve at the office (which came out badly because she was terrified) or we will do a monthly test (which was inaccurate because it's an average and she was spiking and going hypoglycemic all over the place). Main Street got her regulated, got a dental done on her, and they were the only place to catch a back issue she has that caused her significant pain. The cost there was actually less than I was spending at other places and her quality of life is way better, plus they provided a ton of education. We have a really fearful pit mix and they've been so good with him that he will now sit in the vet's lap and get ear scritches and greet the receptionists. They also did a surgery on him for a ranula and he is doing great. We thought we would have to put our extremely elderly Siamese cat down, and the vet figured out a treatment plan that has totally changed his behavior and comfort level. We saw two other vets that said he was "just old" and didn't even fully examine him. Dr. Wilbanks took the time to both check the range of motion in his back legs and check his BACK teeth and not just the front and prescribed pain meds to help. I am really mad that we paid other vets to miss issues that could have improved his life. We are also going to have a dental done. His appetite is better and he's a lot like his "old" self-demanding and imperious instead of sad and lethargic. Dr Wilbanks also has clever solutions to problems. Our kitties who are in early stage kidney failure are stubborn about drinking, and she came up with a way to get them to drink. She had my Pom on a continuous glucose monitoring system that saved me a ton on test strips and helped my baby get regulated AND helped me sleep better because it would beep if she got hypoglycemic and I didn't have to watch her like a hawk all the time. She gave us meds that helped with our pit's extreme fear of the vet and always takes time to love on him. I really recommend this practice. I've been to other vets and they aren't that much cheaper, and I would also point out that you get what you pay for at some other vets. There are other good practices in the area, but this is the best by far. read more

After recommendation from my normal vet, I took my dog to Main Street Dental Clinic to get a mass removed from his mouth. The staff here are so nice and everything was taken care of very professionally. They certainly love pets here and I knew he was in good hands during surgery. Dr. Johnson and Shannon are the folks I worked with most and I highly recommend them! I had looked at getting the mass removed before and it was very pricey, but it was about half the price here as my previous quote at another vet hospital; thus, I was very pleased. Also, the clinic is super clean. In the lobby they have a sign that says "let us know if you have been here more than 15 minutes" so they definitely don't make you wait. Our dog had been declining for a while, and In February, we realized we needed to do the right thing for him and let him go. Our vet was closed because there was a horrible ice storm. Was quoted about 500 for teeth cleaning, and when all was done, I owed more than triple the original quoted price. After paying, I had to cancel my vacation because I could no longer afford to take a vacation. In these tough times when family connections are so important and listening to my great nice cry she won't get to see me, whom I have yet to meet, was heart breaking to say the least. Hopefully I can save enough money for next year. It breaks my heart that this is so expensive and crushes the family finances. If this was a hospital and you came in, having a heart attack, they would ask for your wallet. If you couldn't pay, they would simply let you die. With me in dire straits, going in deeper in debt all the time - with a $5k per year income, they insist on charging over $1000 just to tell me my dog is dying, which I already knew. When I brought up ANYTHING like "Pro-Bono" or discounts or ANYTHING other than "full retail", I was ignored. Next time I have a dying pet, I will just "Let it Be". The staff is amazing, calm, kind and know what they are doing! first, the vet assistant informed us that our little girl kitten is actually a boy! I have been taking my dogs to Main Street Veterinary Hospital for over 10 years now and have always been happy. However, over the past year, this veterinary office has really gone downhill in both quality of service as well as professionalism. Some of the staff can be a bit arrogant and they seem to have a high staff turnover. After waiting over an hour past the appointment time, the examinations are very rushed and sloppy now. On my last visit in November 2021, I had a concern about one of my dog's breathing. The examining doctor never even bothered to check his breathing, but just wrote it off to tarter and pushed their dental cleaning. Dental cleaning seems to be their big sales pitch almost like a car dealer selling add-ons. Due to the breed and age of my dogs, I am not comfortable putting them under and I have mentioned this to them and they have never offered me any other alternative. The final straw that caused me to find another vet for my 3 dogs after 10 years was that they straight up refused to send a prescription to 1800Petmeds for Teller's heartworm medication. They would not email or fax it to them but required me to come up there and pick it up and mail it in myself. In the 10 years, I have been with them this I have always ordered medication from 1800Petmeds because it is more cost-effective and it has never until now been a problem. The fact that they were willing to hold my dogs' health hostage just to force me to purchase their heartworm prevention at a higher price to make a few extra bucks is disturbing. This policy change cost them 3 long-term clients. read more

Absolutely amazing!! I recently had to bring my tiny dog here for an emergency situation. I do not live in Flower Mound and it was about a 45 minute drive for me, but if I did live in Flower Mound, this would definitely be my vet. I was referred here from my regular vet for urgent surgical care. I was greeted immediately and everyone in reception was very nice and welcoming. The vet tech I dealt with was equally amazing (super nice & helpful). I can't say enough good things about the staff and doctors here. In a very stressful situation, Dr. Johnson and Dr. Van Trease were amazing. They went above and beyond to make sure my baby was well cared for and received excellent medical care. Stellar vet service! These people go out of their way to make your pet feel comfortable. On my first, recent visit, I walked in and went to the counter to check in with my 2 Siberian Huskies and two staff members asked if my dogs could have treats. I said yes and they were immediately "treated" with yummy snacks. This made for a more comfortable experience for my girls. The receptionist went over what I was needing for that day and checked in my girls. I was there for the flu vaccines as there was a flu going around for dogs specifically show dogs and my dogs were going to a dog show the next month. I wanted to make sure they had the protection they needed. The wait for a room was short and then the tech brought us back to a room where he listened to hearts and asked a variety of health questions. I told him that one of my girls would hold a grudge on taking her temp and any shots so he decided to wait to do her temp until the vet was in so she wouldn't immediately not like the vet. I thought that was thoughtful. It took a few minutes before the vet came in. Female with a warm smile. She immediately snacked my girls which gave them special interest in her. :-) She went over them both and then took temperatures and I was surprised that my Ruby did not seem to hold a grudge like she has done with the vets in the past. I the past, once they did things to her, she would go under my chair or behind me and try to stay away from them but she didn't do that on this day. Both girls received Flu shots and Ruby was also due for bordetello which she received orally. Then the vet gave them more snacks and even asked them to do their tricks. She wasn't able to get Ruby to do "bang" but she attempted and Ruby thought that was cute. ;-) After the dogs were cared for, the vet personally talked to me and I found her to be extremely caring. This vet clinic is out of our way and we go by many vet clinics on our way here but they had the best Yelp reviews when we moved to this new area and gave them a shot. once again Yelp did not let me down. This is an amazing clinic that we will continue to go while we are living in this area in north Dallas. read more

My Pomeranian had some significant dental issues and my regular vet in Dallas suggested I take her to Main Street for treatment and I'm so glad I did. I can't say enough good things about them. Everything from the 1st call to her 2 week follow-up was a 5star experience. Tech Shannon, Dr Johnson pre-op, Dr Lobprise did the surgery & communicated with me throughout the day & Dr Hernandez follow up visit. Each of them explained everything well & took the time to answer all of my questions. I thought it would be much more expensive using a dental specialist but as my regular vet explained that is not necessarily the case because the dentist is able to diagnose & work more efficiently so your pet is spending less time under anesthesia (which is usually the main expense) & also safer for the pet. Such an incredible experience we had at Main Street Vets today. We were greeted so warmly by the front desk staff! They offered us snacks and drinks while we waited and even posted our dogs name on a chalk board welcoming him as a new patient. We filled out our paperwork and were seen minutes after by the vet tech Tiera, who was phenomenal and so kind! Next we met with Dr. Tuttle who was so friendly and knowledgeable (we moved from NY so wanted to make sure our dog was properly vaccinated and had proper flea prevention for the climate change) she thoroughly explained the different vaccines and flea prevention for us. We've been bringing our cocker spaniel here for three years and have been very pleased with the service and staff. She gets her annual exam/shots and she's also had two surgeries, and a dental cleaning. We've seen just about every tech and vet in our visits and all have been wonderful. Sadly, my favorite vet, Dr. Quinn, who was truly amazing, is no longer there but I really like Dr. Brashear. My dog has cysts that grow all over her body and after a while, they need to be removed. We had the first cyst removed from her side and while it was pretty big incision, they took such good care of her. Her body ended up rejecting the internal stitches that were used and we were in there quite a bit getting everything sorted out. It was no fault of the vet though as they only did what was necessary to keep her sewn up. The incision was so large because they took extra skin margins to be sent to off to check for cancer. For the next surgery (two years later) this past July, she had a total of 6 cysts removed and 5 incisions by Dr. Cordero. The surgery went great and because of the much smaller incision size, no internal stitches were needed. She also had her teeth cleaned by Dr. Lobprise, something I never thought I'd be doing for a dog, but they said she had pre-periodontal disease. After the cleaning, her teeth look super white and her horrid breath has completely disappeared. I'm now a believer in teeth cleaning for dogs! They did both procedures while she was under anesthesia so we weren't charged twice. Because the dentist did the anesthesia, we were able to bring in a donation for the USO (only a promotion for that month) and we got 20% off our dental work (including the x-rays). That totaled to over $200 savings. Both doctors Cordero and Lobprise were friendly and explained the procedures well. The staff is wonderful and encourages you to call any time to check on your pet and they give you a phone call when surgery is starting and when the are finished to let you know how things went. A couple of days every visit, we get a follow up call to check on Daisy. As for the twice yearly exam recommendation, the vaccine for bordetella (kennel cough) only lasts 6 months so they want you to come in to make sure your dog is covered. We receive reminders in the mail. but because we hardly ever take our dog places with other dogs (and never board her) we don't feel it's necessary. Overall, we are very happy with this vet. It's right down the road from where we live and the staff have just been incredible. read more

took my dog here today for the first time, and I had a terrible experience. This will be my last time. The front desk ladies are super nice and sweet. However, the vet tech that I had to deal with was extremely rude, unsympathetic, condescending and judgmental. She made me feel as if I was a bad dog parent. My dog had possibly ingested some rat poison-scary stuff. The stupid vet tech asked me "how did I know it was poison?" - I showed them the Tomcat block I took from my dog. I followed the instructions of calling the ASPCA Poison Control hotline to get a case number (before I came in), and I arrived to learn that neither did the doctor nor the vet tech had called ASPCA to speak about my case. I was first told by the doctor that there is nothing they could do. After I told them that that isn't what ASPCA Poison control advised me, I realized they had not spoken to them at all about my case. The doctor kept asking me if I wanted to give my dog activated charcoal, which was advised by ASPCA. She said it might not work, as the poison is probably digested it all by now, and that it will only work if my dog had something left in her tummy. I felt it was only valid to ask how she would know if there is nothing left in my dog's guts. She said she doesn't, and continued to ask if I wanted to give her activated charcoal. After an overwhelming experience, from telling me that my dog could die, and that whether I should give my dog charcoal (which I figure as a doctor she would be able to tell me whether or not or what my dog should take????), I basically told them to give my dog activated charcoal and vitamin K and I will take care of the rest with my other vet. My dog is OK for now. As the doctor walked away, she asked if I understand everything and that she felt she didn't give me the definitive answer, which she didn't. I just said yes because I wanted to get the hell out of there. I dare not take my baby back to this horrible place. I hope the vet tech that I dealt with learn to have a bit of compassion working in this industry. The 2 stars are for the sweet front desk ladies who are good at their job and the nurse that gave my dog medicine. read more

The staff was excellent over the phone and shared their puppy wellness program with me. ($499 and your puppy is covered for its first year) That's a really amazing deal (micro chip, all core vaccines, spay / neuter, unlimited scheduled office hour visits, nail clippings, the list goes on) and the staff is stellar with both humans and pets! Amazing Service! I've been here twice and both experiences have been great. All the staff was super friendly. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. My sisters puppy was so sick he didn't even great me when I came home ,but as soon as the front desk lady greeted him he started wagging his tail. You can tell everyone who works here really loves animals and that that they are passionate about what they do. They also have treats for your little one and complimentary snacks and drinks for you while you wait. We started going to Main Street Vet when our 15 year old Labrador got sick on Christmas. Dr. Denise Smith called us on the phone on Christmas Day when our dog showed signs of being extremely Ill even though their office was closed. We took Levi there the next day and every staff member was extremely warm and caring. We had to put him down. They were caring and compassionate. They spent a lot of time with us. They presented us with all of our options. They were amazing. Since then we have taken all of our other pets there which include our 6 year old cockapoo, a bunny, and our new German Shorthaired Pointer. We have received care from all of the doctors including the dentist and most of the technicians. I just love them all!!
