I have it all written out, so we know where we'll be going. Kind of like... when in Rome, do as the Romans do. For me, I need to know ahead of time what that'll be, so we can do them. Such was the case with Wilbur's of Maine Chocolates. Don't remember now where I read about this place, but some blogger mentioned them with high praise, so on my list this place went. We made a point to stop by Wilbur's on our way to Boothbay Harbor (also in Maine for those who don't know), and we are so glad we did. This is primarily a candy shop... but it is so much more. They have other food items, home decor, gift items, and of course, lots of chocolate. We bought a couple of stuffed animals for our grandchildren, as well as some flavored sauces in a jar (to be poured over ice cream), and we couldn't leave without buying some chocolates ! We tried some chocolate-dipped orange rind and a few truffle flavors as well. Everything was very fresh and tasty. If I'm ever fortunate enough to be in Maine again, I'm sure we will stop here again.

They continue to expand, to offer local Maine products, both food and textiles - it's a great place to go for buying gifts for people. Some of my favorites are shown in the pictures - I love anything maple and their maple malt balls are my absolute favorite! I love their chocolate covered products, pretzels, cherries, peanuts, raisins and blueberries and so much more. They sell Sweet Monkey Business shortbread cookies on occassion - they are the best in Maine for packaged cookies. The owner is very kind as well. This year (2025) my favorite purchase was the Candy Cottage kit! So cute and creative and it smells so much better than gingerbread. I loved it. Great for gift giving as well. Parking is great and there is an car charging spot as well if you are lucky enough to snag the spot. Not a super charger, but it's something. I hope to be able to participate in a special event sometime. They offer tours, and candy making events, like make your own candy cane. With that said, I highly recommend. The only marks it got were that some of the pretzel bits were stale. Also have chocolate dipped cones! I got one and it was delicious and there was chocolate coating both the inside and outside of the cone!

Our first visit here a little over a year ago was for a special collaboration with Frosty's Donuts for a mocha donut special. We recently revisited due to a Yelp experience and had delicious strawberry specials! Earlier this week we spotted that they would be doing another collaboration with Frosty's for Maine Wild Blueberry Weekend. My wife loves blueberry so it was a no-brainer! Lots of parking available nearby and easy to spot the trailer. The owner is so friendly and will greet you with a smile! My wife and I both grabbed the donut special that featured a glazed donut that comes with blueberry soft serve and blueberry sauce. I think it even topped the mocha special and was mindblowing! The absolute perfect glazed donut meets deliciously flavored blueberry soft serve. If you love ice cream this is a must visit! Zellie's is located right by the waterfront in Bath and was very easy to find. We've driven through downtown dozens of times but this was our first visit. I ordered the Strawberry Cheesecake Mousse Parfait special and it was delicious! Loved the layers of cheesecake mousse, brown butter graham cracker and strawberry soft serve. My husband ordered the Maine Strawberry Soft Serve on a sugar cone. We had our kids along with us -- one ordered the Maine Strawberry Soft Serve with Chocolate Sprinkles and the other ordered Strawberry/Vanilla Soft Serve with Rainbow Sprinkles. First off- pro tip- Always get their signature Scotch Kisses! Get more than one and thank me later. Scotch Kisses are their homemade caramel wrapped around a soft marshmallow. Holy moly. The best!! I bought one and will now dream of this candy confection for months to come. I need to check if they ship these! Wilbur's wide variety of candy is housed on their second floor. Head upstairs. They had just started decorating for Halloween and you could not pick a better spot to find in the month of October. Candy + Halloween = Perfection. I stocked up on some Halloween themed candy and even found some Pumpkin Pie Jelly Bellies there! Woah, First time trying them and yum. I found my classic rock candy there too. I am more of a sugar candy fan than chocolate guy, so the upstairs was like a dream come true. I even found a pack of Fruit Stripes gum! Classic. I can't believe the bag of candy that I walked out with for under $20. Support local and frequent Wilbur's. The next time I am in Maine, I will most definitely be back! P.S.
