This spa is truly divine. Ones experience begins in the waiting area with fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, veggies and dip and fresh lemon ice water. There are all the magazines that you have been wanting to read but just haven't had the time. And so the relaxation begins. On my last visit, I had a deep tissue massage. I was a little nervous because I have been trying to heal from an arm injury for over a year. I discussed my injury with the knowledgeable masseuse and she was very receptive and sympathetic. I am glad to report that the massage only made my arm feel better and not worse. After my massage, I got a manicure. It was truly relaxing and I appreciated that the nail technician was very in tune with all the fall trends for nail colors, length and shape. I went for dark brown and was happy with my decision. The Maison Esthetique is what a spa should be. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. The services provided are of the highest caliber. I really enjoy this place. All the employees at Maison are extremely helpful and friendly. The overall atmosphere is very warm, inviting and has that European touch. Maison Esthetique is not too far off the highway, so, it is a nice option then going to a spa in Boston. Also, the pedicures here are way better then a couple of places I have been to on Newbury, with the same price tag. I have only gone here for pedicures but I am sure everything else is great as well...For this reason only I am giving it 4 stars, it may change when I get a massage! I have had a few positive 3-4 star experiences in past but my recent experience was difficult... I called to book a last minute appointment as none available which i can appreciate but they had one as i was told the next day at 9am, no discussion on cancellation or credit card on file... I wake up next morning to a call from my special needs sons residential school requesting my immediate presence so I call spa at 7am and leave message i needed to reschedule Initially they had 4 appointment open that day when i called afternoon prior so my message asked to take one of the others. I received a call from gentleman and was unpleasant he was annoyed of the cancellation (I can understand) but anyone with kids with special needs know they come first and life never goes as planned... He was annoyed and abrasive and no sympathy at all he was about the cancellation fee which i expressed I would come in and pay in person not on credit card (which i didnt give upon booking) and his reply of you don't show by time I leave will go on file... I showed by noon to pay and was equally cold and annoyed by my presence and when asked what card on file he referred to he shared someone else when i was concerned he brushed me off... A spa is a luxury and should be welcoming and despite I had to cancell and still paid and left feeling awful as he shared she had to come in for me... You were paid and did no work should have been cordial and potentially human sympathy I am the one who lost put on this.... read more

I'm sad to say this wasn't a great spa experience for myself and a friend. While everyone was very nice, we both had sub-par massages. Complaints include very cold rooms, rough hands, disjointed massage style, and weak pressure for deep tissue massage. I don't frequently post negative reviews but was pretty disappointed. On a smaller note, I'd recommend they start the massage facedown like most other spas, and offer eye masks during the massage when face up. read more

First, I would like to be clear that the two-star rating is directly related to my last experience at Maison Ethetique. I've had a number of wonderful pedicures there, but my last has made me question going back. My husband and I were out from California visting family on the east coast during the holiday season. Following Christmas, we were in Massachusetts and I hoped to get a manicure and pedicure for that second leg of our trip. At the time, I was 13 weeks pregnant and finally getting over all-day "morning sickness." My mom called to book appointments for us to get manicures and pedicures and specifically requested that my nails be done in the same upstairs room that my wedding pedicure was done the previous year (I was very concerned over the fumes from the polish making me nauseous). The receptionist said that wouldn't be a problem and that she would make note of that with our appointment. When we arrived for our appointment, the woman set to do my nails was very unhappy with this arrangement and made a quiet, but big enough to-do about doing my nails upstairs that I, the client, was well aware of her discontent. She asked me to go into the regular nail room and breathe while selecting my polish to see if it made me sick. I'm really easy going, so I said I'd be happy to see how it went. I ended up having to cover my face and hold my breath because the smell in there, at the end of the day, was really overwhelming to me. So, upstairs we went. She started my pedicure and asked me how far along I was, since I had noted that I was experiencing pregnancy-related nausea. Her response was to tell me how wonderful her three pregnancies were and how she never experienced any sickness with any of them. My impression was that she did not believe that I was getting nauseous from smelling nail polish fumes and felt we were up in that room because I was difficult and wanted to make her last appointment as sour an experience for her as possible. She barely touched my feet while doing my pedicure (I have nice, well groomed feet -- nothing to be scared of there!) and, when moving on to my finger nails, said all she could do was paint them because there was no place to do a proper manicure in that room. My mom had already paid for me to receive a manicure and pedicure, and pre-tipped for both services, after this woman was told I needed to be upstairs. So, she slaps a coat of polish and top coat on my nails and calls it a day. I head downstairs and wait for my mom's manicure and pedicure to be finished. Two days later my nail polish was chipping off my fingernails (I didn't do dishes or anything to cause them to chip) and I was left wishing I'd spoken up and asked to be refunded at the time. My pedicure, however, held up beautifully. Overall, a really disappointing experience. read more

I decided to treat myself to a spa day for my birthday and I was not disappointed. This was my first real spa experience, so I don't have anything to compare it to. Several people I know recommended this place to me though, so I was confident it would be worth the money. First, when you walk in there is a desk to check in at. The receptionist was extremely friendly and showed me the locker area where you can change. You're provided with a locker, robe and sandals, then led into the waiting area. This is a little awkward because I was in a robe and everyone else (the workers and the people in regular clothes waiting for treatments that don't require you wear a robe) was not, but it was only for a few more minutes. Being there at noon on a Thursday was an awesome idea as the steam room/sauna/hot tub area were totally empty! I was happy to have the space to myself and a spa employee showed me how everything worked. They even had towels and plastic bags for wet swimsuits there as well which was super helpful. My first treatment was the blueberry soy scrub, wrap and vichy shower. This treatment was really nice and the woman who gave it to me was kind and friendly, but the nature of the treatment is a bit of a process. You have to keep flipping over and getting off the table to shower off the different scrubs and soaps they put on you. Overall, I enjoyed it and it was relaxing, but next time I'd probably go for something with a little less activity where I can just lay there for an hour. And finally, I had a facial. I went in for the custom care facial, but the woman I saw recommended the goddess peel instead so I trusted her and went with that (it was the same price, otherwise I might have worried she was trying to up-sell me). It was a little tingly at times, but overall no where near as painful as I thought it might be and I left glowing! She said I only turned a little pink and some people leave bright red, so that was nice. This was really relaxing though, because you are laying in a warm bed and they put warm gloves on you. I wish I could sleep like that every night. I would definitely go back for this again! Overall, a great experience with a few little speed bumps. Nothing that would stop me from recommending this place to anyone. Sure, it's a little pricey, but nothing crazy compared to other spas in the area. If you want to treat yourself, this is the place to do it on the North Shore. read more

All five stars to go Fiona. She is a seasoned massage therapist with just the right touch. But what stands out most is how she treated my mom. A few years back I brought my mom who had Alzheimer's to her for a massage. I was a little nervous as I wasn't sure how it was going to go but Fiona couldn't have made it any better. She was incredibly kind, patient and compassionate with my mom and within just a few minutes of being on the table, was able to get my mom to truly relax. When the massage was over, my mom calm out more calm than I had seen her in a long time and so peaceful. It was incredible. I have since gone to Fiona for myself and she really is amazing at her trade. She's also a very nice and caring person. I almost didn't want to post this because good reviews means she might be harder to book but she really deserves to be recognized for her professionalism and her magic hands! read more

This spa is full of friendly people that are always checking on you and making sure your needs are met. I have been going here for years. The services are so great. Especially the massages! We booked a spa party for seven to celebrate my sister's graduation, which included all of our receiving a treatment + mani/pedi. We learned about a week before that there had been some flooding in the basement and we would no longer be able to take advantage of the steam and sauna room. We went back and forth trying to figure out if it made sense to still go - we were scheduled to be there for almost a full day so there was concern about what we would do between treatments. We had zero reason to worry! I cannot tell you how wonderful and accommodating the staff was. The experience was amazing. We spent the day lounging in robes, sipping tea, snacking from a very generous snack table, and just relaxing in the beautiful facility. The treatments were top notch! I got a facial, and I usually find them painful and not relaxing. Stefania was a dream! And the manis and pedis were AWESOME. I think my technician was named Anne Marie? (sorry if I got it wrong). It's been about a week since our visit, and today, we all snapped pics of our hands and sent to one another to show that all of our manis have held up. This place is awesome. My girlfriend and I purchased the couples massage package with dinner at Pallano Steakhouse and our experience exceeded our expectations! The entire experience was very pleasant from the moment we entered the door. We loved the atmosphere and the friendly staff. Our massage therapists Colleen & Cheryl were fantastic. i Called at 9am to book a massage at 4pm. they confirmed my appointment and credit card info. I showed up and ended up waiting 45 mins for my appointment. I understand people can run late so I waited a little longer than I should have, then I finally went to the front desk and asked, they confirmed my 4pm appointment again. She got the manager involved and ended up finding the massage therapist just sitting outside. they Claimed she never refreshed her schedule from 9am So she didn't see the appointment. The therapist walked right by me, never apologizing, acknowledging me or taking fault. The manager asked if I wanted a 30min massage instead. I obviously said no. He said when I reschedule I will get a discount. Which I appreciate but it's just not fair to be waiting so long for someone to not "check their schedule". I arrived 35 minutes early today for my massage as I had been advised so I could take advantage of the hot tub before my appointment. When I checked in they asked if I would like a drink then directed me to change and they would show me where to go. Well I came out, and after 10 minutes for my own water. Normally I wouldn't complain about this but after offering, and considering they money I was paying for the experience it was disappointing. Also after asking me repeatedly if I had brought my bathing suit I was never shown to the spa area. After 20 minutes passed, I finally asked where it may be and they pointed me downstairs, where the hot tub wasn't even hot. The massage was good, but I've received much better customer service and very good massages for not nearly as much. It was a bit disappointing. read more

What a grand place! It could so easily be snobbish and make someone unpretentious, such as myself, uneasy. However, the atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I had a gift certificate so I used it for the best massage I have ever had. I was told to bring my bathing suit so that I could enjoy the hot tub, dry sauna or steam room prior to my massage. Unfortunately, the jacuzzi only seats four and it was full. This was cool because it was a really hot, humid summer day and the last thing I wanted or needed was a hot bath. The hostess then recommended the steam room. I kindly refused saying that if I wanted to sweat all I had to do was walk outside. They did offer delicious cold water with lemon. All in all, a delightful spa experience from someone unaccustomed to pampering oneself. When I become a millionaire, I will go back and pamper, pamper, pamper me. read more

Just came from a disappointing trip to this spa. I booked a massage, manicure and pedicure. I arrived at 9 and had a wonderful massage with Cheryl. At 10, Cheryl brought me up to the waiting room, which is attached to the entrance with the check-in desk and also the room where they do nails. After waiting for 30 minutes and not being called in (the nail room was not full), I approached the front desk and asked when I could expect to be seen. She told me that my appointment wasn't until 11. Not having anticipated having an hour gap between the massage and nail appointment I wouldn't have time to have the mani/pedi. I asked the front desk girl if I could reschedule or cancel the mani/pedi because of what I considered a mix-up in scheduling during booking. She (very politely) said she would ask. Who I assume to be the manager then approached me a few minutes later and told me that if I had my swimsuit, I could take advantage of their whirlpool or steam room downstairs while I waited for my nail appointment. I told her that I did not have a swimsuit, and at this point, I would rather just cancel the nail appointment and leave. She told me that she would be charging me full price in that case (about $100). I asked how that was fair, when clearly they had messed up by booking me with an hour gap between sessions, and she said that they schedule the appointments staggered on purpose so I could enjoy the amenities. I said that I was not told about the amenities, was not prepared for the amenities (no swimsuit), and obviously would have been enjoying the amenities instead of sitting in the waiting room for 30 minutes if I had been told by either the person who booked my appointments, the front desk people who watched me sit there for 30 mins doing nothing, or the masseuse who dropped me back off in the waiting room. She responded that I WAS indeed told. I asked her if she was the one I booked the appointment with, and she said no. I asked if she had been with the person who I was booking the appointment with, and she said no. Clearly there is no way for her to know what was communicated to me on the phone, and at no time in the 30 minutes that I sat in the waiting room (in full view of the front desk staff) did anyone tell me that I was supposed to be doing something else. All that being said, I understand that by canceling or rescheduling my appointment, they would lose business that could have otherwise gone to another customer had I not been booked. I perceived this to be an issue of miscommunication - they should have been more clear on staggering appointments and what I should have brought to be able to use those amenities, and I should have asked more questions about the details of the day without assuming they would book the appointments back to back. But there was absolutely zero integrity shown on the part of the manager, who essentially called me a liar, while repeating "I TRUST my employees," insinuating that I was untrustworthy. Throughout our conversation she would repeatedly make dismissive shrugging gestures at everything that I said, and condescended to me throughout our entire interaction, and I can't help but think it's because I'm relatively young (26) and she thought she could bully me into paying full price. I would understand if they wanted to charge me half because of what I viewed as equal fault, but she refused to budge at full price, and offered absolutely no alternatives, other than a visibly insincere apology. Even if she was going to insist I pay full price, at no point in time did she need to speak to me with the level of disrespect that she did. I tried multiple times to end the conversation with her, including walking away to just pay the bill and be done with it, but she followed, continuing the argument. Then when I was paying at the desk, talking to the front desk girl, she would walk away and then immediately come back and say another rude remark. After I handed the girl my card to pay the entire bill, she then told the front desk girl to only charge me for the massage, which I appreciated, but she accompanied it with a sneer and said "THERE." I would have preferred to pay full price and be able to leave with at least a modicum of respect from this establishment. As I was signing the credit card slip, she walked back into the room, and tried AGAIN to engage me in an argument. When I firmly told her that we no longer had any need to continue speaking and said goodbye, she mocked me ("goodbye!") as I left. I would love to have been able to give this more stars, because my massage was great and the other employees I interacted with were very kind, but I left feeling worse than when I walked in, and that to me is unacceptable. I really hope the management of this establishment rethinks the individuals who represent it. I will definitely not be returning. read more

I just received the utmost worst treatment at Maison Esthetique Spa on High St. I booked the Couple's Massage Romance Package 4 weeks ago as a birthday present for my boyfriend. Soaking in the jacuzzi prior to the massage is part of the package. We arrived 10 minutes early, completed the paperwork and were taken directly into the massage room. I inquired as to when we would enjoy the jacuzzi. She said there wouldn't be enough time and that we should have arrived 45 minutes early. I was never informed of that. Not only did I speak to them in detail about the experience when booking it over the phone, but I've received multiple reminders via text none of which suggested we arrive early. Management told me it was 'common sense' to arrive early for tub use. They were not the least bit apologetic. I've never received such poor customer service. We ended up leaving. I feel bad for the staff, whoever the man was in charge tonight prevented them from their last earnings of the day. read more

My parents live on the North Shore so I visit Maison Esthetique when I'm in their neighborhood. I've only ever been there for bikini waxing, and I'm eager to experience some of their other (perhaps more pleasant!) services soon. I have to say, though, the waxes I've had at Maison Esthetique are the least painful bikini waxes I've ever had. The technicians are always professional and use a special kind of wax that hardens in place and doesn't require cloth strips to remove. It seems to be better for my skin and I'm left with hardly any redness or discomfort at all following my appointments. It's a more expensive type of wax, but when it comes to the bikini area, I'm happy to pay it! Also, and this is very crucial, the technicians I've had have always been great about taking hair off where I say I want it removed, and not anywhere else. I've been to spas where asking for "a little off the sides" leaves you with a landing strip, but not at Maison Esthetique. I only wish I lived closer! read more

This place was amazing. I am very well versed in massages, and go fairly regularly to a couple of other spas in the area. I had a spafinder gift certificate and decided to try out Maison Esthetique based on the glowing recommendations on Yelp. And now here's mine. It's really in a totally different league from other spas in the area. I wasn't told when I made the appointment about the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, but I called the morning of to confirm my appt and ask about it. The place is just gorgeous and elegant. I changed immediately into a robe and my bathing suit, so I could hop into the jacuzzi right after. My massage was just amazing. It was a fix it, because I'm a long distance runner who is allergic to stretching. She also spent a lot of time with my neck, where is of course where the tension goes. I had her avoid my left hamstring, which is (still :( sprained, and she put some biofreeze on it for me. After the massage I was the only one in the jacuzzi. She even popped back out when the bubbles stopped to ask if I wanted her to press the button (since I wouldn't have to get up). I think I ended up staying there a little over an hour and half, for a 50 minute massage. Seriously ladies, you want to treat yourself, go here. read more

DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. THE OWNER IS ARROGANT, GREEDY AND UNCARING. Let me explain. My wife and I had a wonderful experience at this spa in March after a traumatic personal experience. The staff were absolutely fantastic. My wife, now 7 months pregnant, purchased a Groupon for a facial and pedicure package. $65 - great deal. The day of her appointment, she left work 2 hours before a 6pm appt. Usually an hour ride tops. Due to horrific traffic, she was detained. She called 2x very stressed out and upset she would be late. She was told to "just come in" Upon arrival (35 minutes late) she was ushered into her pedicure. She was then told she'd forfeit her facial. So, basically she paid $65 plus tip for a $45 over-priced pedicure that would be $30 tops elsewhere. She offered to pay full price for the facial if she could reschedule the "package" but was told "the GroupOn package was such a good deal" that she should understand why there was "nothing they could (read would) do" One attendant offered to speak to the owner and said we'd receive a call back the next day. You guessed it, no call. They are closed Mondays. I called today and had a good (read calm, polite) conversation with Lorraine. She understood and said she'd call my wife and reschedule the facial. I called my wife who was pleased and told me "see they are fair" Later in the day, Lorraine called with a very different message (influenced by the greedy arrogant owner) - we'll give you a $20 gift certificate toward a facial. Do the math, the "deal" and "all customer service was gone" Now, had my wife never called (2x) to explain her situation before her appt. time, I have to say I'd actually agree with the greedy arrogant owner. But, she called. She was upset. There was nothing she could do. In my business, I give my clients the benefit of the doubt. So, tonight I called back. I admittedly lost my temper. I spoke to a woman and demanded to speak to the owner. Since the owner wasn't there. I ask that she put me on hold and call the owner. Which, she did. The owner who (a) didn't call back as promised last week and (b) over-rode Lorraine refused to talk to me tonight. So, I lost it. I am sorry. Well, apparently if you lose it on one of her employees (which I do sincerely regret), the arrogant owner who cares little about customer service immediately calls you back. I stepped away from dinner with my wife in a restaurant to take the call. After some quibbling and peacock-ing about our respective 20 plus years in marketing the conversation escalated with her quoting policy about how they've (I am paraphrasing) have been in business for over 6 years because of policies like the one that denied my wife her facial. Treat people poorly- stay in business. Apparently she does know more about marketing than I do. I always thought the customer was right!! Do yourself a favor. Make a list of 100 things you could do with your money besides give it to her. Then, if you still need a spa, email me and I would be happy to recommend one where treating people well isn't a facade. I apologize to the employee I "lost it on" - its not your fault. I shouldn't have taken my frustration at your boss' greed, arrogance and ignorance out on you. It's a bad economy people. Take your spa money and put it to better use than making a payment on this woman's Lexus. Do you really need an overpriced service at a spa with a name most people (myself included) can't even pronounce. Arrogance isn't relaxing. read more

This is one of my favorite spas because the have a hot tub, steam room and sauna you can use before your appointment. I love being able to get in there and relax. Its so nice. I've had their massages many times including the hot stone massage and they are always amazing. Most recently I tried their facial and it was so relaxing and my skin looked so beautiful and glowy after. I have been to Masion Esthetique several times and had wonderful experiences. Unfortunately, my last experience was terrible and I will never go there again. I bought a skin care product that was recommended by the woman that did my facial. She was very agressive about her recommendations but I am ok with that -- she was just doing her job. I only purchased one of the recommendations, a facial wash. I tried it that night and it actually made my skin feel like it was on fire. I thought it might just take some getting used to so I tried it one more time the next day and I had the same reaction. I called the spa and spoke with the manager. He explained that I could not return it. When I hung up with him I felt very dissatisfied so I got in my car and went to see him in person. He told me that it was the policy and that "he was not the owner and did not make the rules." He was very rude to me and clearly did not care about me as a customer. I certainly understand the "no return" policy but it is not that I changed my mind about the product -- it clearly was not a good fit for my skin. I would have accepted a discount on my next service or some kind of accomodation but that was not offered. He clearly just wanted me out of the building. I put the facial wash on the counter and walked out. I won't go back again. read more

I had a CBD massage over the weekend at this spa and it was amazing. I suffer from joint pain from RA and this massage really relieved a lot of the pain. I would highly recommend the CBD massage to anyone with joint/muscle pain! I also had a facial while I was there to treat some blemishes on my chin and when I woke up the next day I couldn't believe the results! More than worth the trip! read more
