12/14/2025 Walked by and looked good so I dropped in. There were a variety of bakery items that all looked fresh and delicious. So I had to pick a few. There were plenty to bakery shops in the pier so don't be shy to look around before making your final pick. I got the cruffin matcha ($8.95) Was disappointing as the matcha cream was sour like cream cheese and didn't fill the cruffin all the way (vid). But the cruffin itself was nice and crispy. Ube crinkles (~$5) Love the strong Ube flavor. And it was my first time eating a crinkle cookie. It was nice and chewy. A nice surprise Nice place to drop by for a breakfast break. But do check out other places as well

My coworkers and I were searching for a quick late afternoon treat and tried the crinkle cookies here. I liked how there were some fun flavor combinations so I got the mango ube swirl crinkle cookie. Super yummy and not overly sweet! Personally, I had a positive experience with service here. The person there was friendly and patient while I took a bit of time deciding. Definitely a little pricey for a cookie but that's honestly the case at most places these days. I'd love to try the giant macarons next time.

While roaming the Ferry Terminal with my family on vacation, the sight of an ube cruffin caught my eye. It's just what you think it is: a croissant shaped like a muffin. While it was extremely tasty and the use filling was just the right amount, it honestly was gimmicky. It was just a different shaped croissant. It didn't need a new name (unlike the cronut which is a completely different thing). It just felt like a way to charge even more for a semi standard pastry. With that said, the flavor was good enough that I was happy enough to splurge on it. The other pastries all looked very delicious but, once again, the price just felt too high. Maybe next time we'll go in and try something different but it just wasn't justifiable this time around.

Last Saturday, we went to the Ferry building I was hanging out with my besties, and as always, we grabbed a few treats. Still, on this day, I zeroed in on that Dubai chocolate croissant my eyes with laser focus, this is a little stall inside the Ferry building. They have the most amazing pastries, but for me, the one that does it the most over anything is the Dubai chocolate croissant. It is luscious, chocolatey, and crispy. Goodness. This place is always busy, but they're very, very good about making this line move along. I gotta say it's one of my favorite croissants of all time yummmm If you're craving a pastry and you're at the ferry building, you know exactly where to go for the good stuff! Cheers my friends and see you on YELP 06/09/25 #review 371

Maison Verbena is in the Ferry Building Marketplace. At first glance, it looks like a home and body shop with candles, soaps, that kind of thing, but they also have a huge pastry counter, which is kind of a surprising combo. The pistachio croissant looked amazing, and the display was packed with croissants and cookies in all kinds of unique flavors. Not sure how I managed any self-control, but I was starving for lunch and didn't want to ruin it. I went with the smoked salmon croissant, which came with cream cheese, cucumber, and arugula on a poppy seed croissant. I sat outside and enjoyed it with a view of the bay. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when I'm more in the mood for sweets. Those pastries are calling my name.

I've been wanting to try the Ube Purple Yam Loaf but they've always run out. I was walking around the Ferry Building Saturday afternoon when I saw a stack of them displayed in the glass case. Finally! I bought a half loaf ($9.50) and after trying it for breakfast here are my thoughts: +Visually stunning & fun to eat +Not too sweet -Lacking ube flavor: There were TINY pockets of ube jam but as a whole you wouldn't be able to tell it was ube flavored if you closed your eyes. -Top tasted slightly bitter: Reminded me of the ends of sandwich bread. Other items I've tried: -Pandan Coconut Crinkle Cookie -Raspberry Pistachio Croissant *Verdict: Everything I've tried so far has looked prettier than it tasted.

Omg - CRUFFINS!!! Did not even know this was a thing.... But I am so glad I found it. I had the vanilla. I was worried that the filling would be too thick and too sweet - no! It was so light and the perfect complement to the pastry. There are so many amazing pastries here - I will be back. Employees are friendly and got us through the line very quickly and efficiently.

"Dubai Chocolate" Croissant | $13.75 (no pistachio cream filling or kataifi)

****Dubai Chocolate Croissant Review**** Can we normalize NOT slapping the buzzword: "Dubai Chocolate" on everything just because it has chocolate and pistachios? Maison Verbena sources their trendy baked goods from several SF bakeries. And, they're advertising their "Dubai Chocolate Series" with several viennoiserie and a two item limit. The Dubai Chocolate Croissant seems to be an exclusive item sold at Maison Verbena and not at the baker's brick and mortar. It was terrible. Soft exterior (no crispy flakiness) with a hard bonbon sized chocolate in the middle. Finished with a chocolate glaze and crushed pistachios. No pistachio cream filling. No tahini. No toasted kataifi (shredded phyllo). And, the croissant itself reminds of the Costco ones. Calling it a "Dubai Chocolate" Croissant is misleading and deceptive when it's missing the essentials. And, charging $13.75 for it is highway robbery. (FYI, another patisserie in the city sells their Dubai Chocolate Croissant with the proper ingredients for $8.50!) Not cool trying to capitalize on a viral trend. Imagine if a business sold their "cheeseburger" with just the bun, no cheese and no beef patty. P.S. - Very friendly staff. No tip option on tablet.

Grabbed a few goodies from their baked goods kiosk at the Ferry Building before heading back to MI and they were the perfect treat for a mid-flight snack. First off, everything is gorgeous! It's easy to see how so many items fly off the shelves. Alas that meant the few things I had wanted were sold out but I did manage to get the everything bagel cruffin and a chocolate crinkle cookie. The cookie was so rich and oh so chocolately that even half was satisfying for this sweet tooth, making it easy to get two treats out of it. The cruffin was SO good. Nice and savory, which was a good contrast to the sweets I usually go for. A flaky croissant wrapped into a muffin shape with a good bit of cream cheese piped into the middle and topped with everything bagel seasoning. Yum! A bit pricey but that's SF for you! But that's no deal breaker for me cos I've come to expect it. Looking forward to trying more the next time I'm in the area!

This is a lot of flash and little substance. They call them fashion baked goods and that's the tip off. The product is exquisitely beautiful but not fresh at opening Sunday AM. And at $10 a piece, fresh should be expected.

Obviously what caught my eye were the trending Dubai-style pastries and usually for me, this kind of thing is a one-and-done just to see try out different dubai chocolate goodies. Rarely do I go back unless it's actually fantastic. But wow... Maison Verbena was such a letdown. The croissant literally tasted like it was from Costco lol, just stuffed with chocolate and crushed pistachios (not even pistachio cream and kataifi??). I felt robbed lol. The concept is solid, but the execution was rough. Honestly feels like they dropped Thomas Keller and Armando Manni's names just to reel people in. Smart marketing, but definitely didn't live up to the pitch.

While from the display it looks amazing, the actual baked goods fell short. I ordered a vanilla crustard croffin and i thought it was decent but almost a second day baked item. I didn't feel it was fresh as the croffin should be crispy and flaky, it was rather doughy, dense and the custard crusted over and dense (meaning it wasn't fresh or left out for too long). The other thing i couldn't get overwas that the outter edge of the croffin tasted like dawn dish soap. Not sure if that's what they use as a sanitizer or cleaning agent or for the baking pans and table they use. Or their baking pans are nonstick and peeling. Good news i know they're cleaning, bad news, the croffin tasted like it too.

Maison Verbena is ambitious with their baked goods creations; they jump on whatever has gone viral, however I can't say they do these trends justice. We brought home a variety of pastry items to give them a fair shake. Raspberry macaron, with its dollop of tart jam in the center, seemed to be the clear winner. Raspberry pistachio croissant was stuffed with nothing, & while the ube cornetto was brimming with a purple cream, the purple yam flavor was not pronounced. Their savory offerings fared worse: beef handheld pie needed seasoning; the chicken & mushroom variety was peppery but had an off-putting texture that bordered on slimy. It's safe to say we won't be purchasing anything else from Maison Verbena. Their beautifully-made pastries are labeled with buzz words, which only makes the execution & taste that much more disappointing.

One neighborhood which always gets a reputation of being stuck up is the Marina. If you ever spend enough time in the Marina this notion is false. It will fulfill your fragrance cravings for scents that are bourgeois and full of depth. I couldn't help myself given my compulsion to want to smell new scents.. My love of fragrance started way back in high school when I was constantly at either Bath and Body Works or Victoria's Secret buying up all the body sprays. What made this visit to Diptyque particularly nice was their sales associate Frances. I had the pleasure of meeting Frances as I casually wandered in. Like usual, I'm picking up random lids of their famous candles and inhaling their scents. Frances approaches me and we had the nicest conversation over our mutual love of fragrance. He is one of those people that has a real passion for perfume and takes his time to explain not only the notes each fragrance has but how they can make you feel. When I explained how a specific fragrance (in this case a new one called "Lilyphea") and how it smelled like a warm hug, Frances understood completely. Unlike some other high end stores that can come off as snooty or arrogant, this store is anything but. The sales associates here in my experience have been down to earth, easy to talk to and care to build the most important thing with their clientele-- relationships. This is the kind of thing that will bring me back to a store even if it's not to buy for myself but for a gift. Thank you Frances for making an already perfect day in SF even better.
