Bomboloni $2.50
Tu-Anh N.

I came here on a Saturday morning. I've heared about bombolonis and just HAD to try one! The lady had a cart with both bombolonis in 3 flavors: chocolate, custard, and some sort of red fruit...probably strawberry. She also had cannolis in 2 falors: custard and chocolate. So I tried a custard bombolini ($2.50) and a chocolate cannoli ($3.50) I guess I had different expectations from both. I was hoping they would be warm and crispy (cannoli). But the dough on both were the sam: chewy and covered in ground sugar. Although I did not like the dough part, the filling was amazing. The chocolate one tasted like pudding and there was a generous amount in the cannoli one, but not so much in the bomboloni...but that could be me loving LOTS of custard! Everyone has different tastes in foods, and this is just mine :] I'm glad I finally got to try one though :]

Bombolinis, cannoli, and blue bottle. Heavenly farmer's market breakfast for a sweet tooth

Saturday morning. Set your alarms. Be there. Get the custard and nutella bombolinis. Cannoli was eh but those filled bombolinis...man oh man. Sweetest workers along with the sweetest pastries made this farmers market adventure a dream. S/O to the nearby blue bottle site for completing this breakfast of champions.

I stopped by based on the long line for bombolonis. Most customers were ordering a six pack in a box, but I went with a single chocolate/almond bomboloni. Service was friendly by the employee. However, taste was somewhat disappointing, especially with all the other tasty bakeries nearby. The bomboloni tasted somewhat stale and dry, and too caky. On the other hand, the filing was tasty! I wish they had provided more filing.

Granny Smith apple donuts with cinnamon sugar?? Yes, please!…read more Everything sounded delicious. Our office enjoyed the treats and the popular choices seemed to be the chai, the apple and the chocolate/bacon combo. It's pricier than other donut shops but worth it when you're looking for something more special.

Not sure if they offer boxes at this location, but that would be a better option for to-go.

Shop is bright and airy, with the most adorable pastel color scheme. I ordered two of their milk chocolate donuts ($5 each), a key lime meringue donut ($6), a blueberry & lime donut ($5), and a caramel apple donut ($6). Donuts are on the pricier side, but the presentation and use of high quality ingredients makes up for it. The sourdough donuts themselves aren't nearly as sweet as standard donuts and have a soft, bouncy texture. The milk chocolate donut was absolutely decadent. Upon first bite, you can immediately tell this donut was topped with real melted milk chocolate. This was levels above a typical chocolate glazed donut. The flakey sea salt garnished on top balanced out the sweetness nicely. Although I will say that I found the richness of the chocolate to clash slightly with the tanginess of the sourdough donut. The key lime meringue donut had a super tart key lime filling and was topped with fluffy meringue. Definitely the most eye catching of the donuts I picked up. But the key lime filling was a bit too punchy and sour for my liking. The glaze on the blueberry & lime donut had a potent and fresh blueberry flavor that went well with the lime zest sprinkled on top. The caramel apple donut was my favorite. The caramelized apple filling paired with the cream cheese frosting and graham cracker crumbs was almost like eating an apple pie + cheesecake fusion but as a donut! Overall, a solid donut place that I'd return to if I'm ever in need of a special treat!

Whether you're heading to work…read morebefore sunrise, grabbing breakfast after a long night, or just craving a good pastry and coffee, it's incredibly reliable. Having a place that's open practically around the clock is such a luxury, and it's become one of those businesses that the Sunset is lucky to have. One of my favorite things is that the moment you walk through the door, you're greeted by the smell of freshly baked pastries. It's exactly what you hope for when you walk into a neighborhood café. Even better, they taste every bit as fresh as they smell--flaky, buttery, and consistently delicious. It's the kind of place where it's hard to leave with just one pastry. The coffee is always hot, fresh, and ready to go, making it an easy stop whether you're in a rush or taking your time. And if you're hungry, don't skip the sandwiches. They're hearty, indulgent, and absolutely hit the spot, especially in the early morning when you need something substantial to start the day. Beyond the food, Uncle Benny's has that classic neighborhood café feel that keeps locals coming back. Friendly, dependable, and consistently satisfying--it's everything you'd want from a community staple. If you're in the Sunset and looking for a great breakfast, pastry, or coffee, Uncle Benny's is an easy 5-star recommendation.
