Expensive and high quality. This is another little store in the ferry building. There's no where to sit, its just a counter with chocolate truffles on display and some shelves with boxes. Small team working there was really friendly and helpful. They offered a few samples (white chocolate orange peel in our case). The truffles are all taste and high quality. You can really taste to flavors. They are also very pretty and make great gifts. Our favorites though are the chocolate covered apples. Dark chocolate outside, tart crispy apples inside. Perfect blend of flavors. Overall, this is a perfect gift or treat for yourself. Its high quality, its tasty. Its also a bit on the expensive side. read more

This chocolatier's store front is like shopping in a jewelry store. Very bougie. Very fancy. Oh and the chocolates are pretty delicious. My sweet guy treated me to the dark milk chocolate on our trip. I'm for sure ruined for life. Nothing you buy at the market will ever top this. NOTHING. A week later, same amazing guy sent me a package of chocolates while he was away. The package contained s'mores bites, chocolate grahams, banana caramel truffle batons, and the sepia box. I have to say that the s'mores were definitely my favorites. The marshmallow was so fluffy and the graham was so crispy. It was a perfect match. From the sepia box, I loved the sesame nougat which was just a fantastic surprise. The shipping appeared to be a little rough and apparently arrived late. Over my last few visits to SF, Recchiuti has become one of my favorite chocolate shops and I always make it a point to stop by. Last visit I remembered trying some amazing burnt caramel truffles and asked the VERY sweet person behind the counter which of the packages I could find them in. They kindly pointed out the two but encouraged me to get one in particular as it was double the number of confections in the package AND it was in collaboration with a local arts non profit, so a portion of the proceeds from that sale went to the NPO (also, the chocolates had a beautiful artwork on them, making them feel extra special!). Love it! Bought it! I also went for a package of their Mendiants, dark chocolate disks topped with candied cocoa nibs. Delish! Nibbling on them as I write this review! As I was cashing out the employee filled me in on the arts org and shared a pamphlet with me, which was a nice touch. I was also offered a sample of one of their caramels which I'll NEVER say no to! They also saw I had a few other purchases from other spots in the Ferry Building but didn't have a bag so they gave me a larger option so I could consolidate, made browsing SO much easier. So yeah, not just AMAZING chocolate but AMAZING staff and an AMAZING commitment to philanthropy, not just partnering with an org on a product but actively spreading the word about it. We purchased a couple of boxes of chocolates, one was truffles with caramel inside and the other was the key lime pears. A bit disappointed in the amount of chocolate you get based on the price tag. I really didn't care for the key lime pears but the caramel truffles were delicious. Glad that the caramel ones were the box that we gifted as they were good!! The excellent quality, petite creamy dark chocolate Champagne Truffles are made with Blanc de Noirs and heavily dusted with powdered sugar. The latter does make them a bit "messy" to hold. Also, I would not consider the 16 piece box giftable as the truffles are all wrapped together in a plastic bag inside the box, which significantly diminishes the presentation. I find Teuscher's Champagne Truffles are far superior in every respect. read more

Fun little chocolate shop in the Ferry Building in SF! Decided to give it a go after looking at their selections -- in particular, the Burnt Caramel Hazelnut caught my eye. This bar in particular is a 45% dark milk with (as described) pieces of caramel and hazelnut. Overall taste was very smooth although I feel the bar would have been better at a 60% or even potentially a 70% instead of the 45%. 45% is too sweet and doesn't provide a good enough backdrop for the caramel pieces. Pricing at $11 a bar isn't absurd but definitely a premium. read more

Saw this store front and spotted these sweet treats. Decided to buy for my kids, who recently had them in Paris and these did not disappoint. My kids said they tastes almost exactly like the ones we had over there! The only difference is the size. If I could make a suggestion, make the candies a little thicker and there will be more balance between sugar and the actual jelly. That was my children's only complaint. I came here as I was given a gift card for my birthday. As I was looking around, it felt like I was at a snooty Chanel shop or something as everyone was looking at me and my boys as though we were garbage and no one offered to help. I am not sure if we were dressed appropriately, but who knew you had to look a certain way to be helped at a chocolate store? I was looking around at the boxes on the shelf and then the chocolate bars in the center but nothing looked super amazing to me. When I got to the counter, I had some questions about the chocolate pieces and one lady eventually offered to help me. She ended up softening up and seemed somewhat nice, though forced. I don't need 5-star service, but it would be nice to feel like we are worthy to be in the shop. I eventually settled on a few sesame dark chocolate truffles and a few bars of the burnt caramel almond bars. I discovered this chocolate company (which is really an understatement) in an article in the NYTimes column WIRECUTTER, which named it its top BOXED chocolate confections of 2024. Wow, indeed it was incredibly delicious, esoteric, explosions of taste and texture in your mouth, and oh yes, very very very expensive. But it was worth every sinful tiny bite and lick. I ordered three boxed chocolates, two intended for gifts for very special people, and very large boxed chocolate for myself and husband. I never did tell my husband how much it cost, because he would have looked at me with that look of "what, are you crazy?" and I would have said "yes, crazy in love with you, after 50 years of being together, and I wanted us/you to experience this very special chocolate". Frankly, I did not think that the two couples who were gifted Recchiuti, as one couple shoved them down their fat mouths so quickly, as opposed to savoring each bite and stretching out for weeks. All they said was "yeah, it was good and we finished it", Well dears, no more Recchiuti gifts for you! The other couple, or 1/2 of the couple, said "yes, I read the artcile you sent me (from NYTimes), and "where do you find these very special things?" I think she appreciated it, or at least was blown away with the price. I don't think she will get any more from me either. And to the person/s who states "do not order on-line", blah blah blah...I ordered on-line, the process was simple, artistic, creative. I received notices via email each step of the process, tracked the chocolate from start to my home, and the carton arrived safe, secure, not damaged, fresh, and sinfully decadent. Our large box lasted more than month hidden away on a top shelf in our kitchen closet. Why? So long or short a time? Well, I allowed my husband, of course, to eat as much as he wanted, and I curtailed my tasting to a few times a week and only one piece at a time. As I said, it is very special. And very expensive. GO FOR IT. I'm just a simple guy from BROOKLYN, NY who retired at age 55, am now 74, and must know a thing or two about life, living it well, and sins and chocolate. It seems like the days of arranging a chocolate box from individual candy choices are gone... for now at least. Everything comes prepacked, many of which are all of the same item. So not very conducive if you just want to stop by for a piece or two. But the candy is so good here, you'll be sure to enjoy whatever larger item you do buy. Fleur de Sel Caramel Brownie: Intense enjoyment. Imagine an extremely rich and gooey brownie that was then infused with delicious patches of caramel. And the caramel is a darker variety than most caramel I've had, browned to be even richer. That little brownie goes a long way and will fill you up. Fudge Brownie: Not as good as the caramel brownie. Felt drier, wish it were gooier. Also, the chocolate chunks felt chalky. It's still a brownie so still tasty, but best to stick with the caramel variant. S'Mores Bites: These are so much fun. It's like an artisanal marshmallow square covered in a medium-thickness coating of dark chocolate. That alone is delicious. But at the bottom, also covered in chocolate, is graham cracker that tastes sweetly caramelized. So addictive. Chocolate Dipped Candied Orange Peel: One of my all time favorites. Love glacéed fruit, especially the citrus variety where tart peels are magically transformed into gooey candy. And then a semisweet chocolate is the perfect semi-bitter pairing to all that sweetness. It's completely covered in chocolate, so no risk of sticky hands. read more

They always ship promptly and properly pack everything so that the chocolates arrive in perfect condition. They are consistently better than 99% of confectioners out there, and I adore the creative, unique flavor profiles they offer. Omg I love Recchiuti! My husband always buys me the Black Box and the Key Lime Apples whenever he feels like it. It's random and unplanned and never on a special occasion, so it's always a surprise when I get them. The key lime apples are basically crack to me. I can't stop eating them. However, on this most recent order, I only got 9 apples in my box. And one of them was the size of a grape. :-/ hmmmm and these are NOT cheap. They're like $20 a box or more , so missing out on even one feels like a cheat and when another one is notably smaller than the rest? Ugh. I know he'll order them again for me in the future and I won't tell him to stop because they're sooooooooo good, but I guess I'm warning others so they know what to expect when they order. Also, this is only my second Black Box, so something I realized was that my first black box was missing an item too. The candied orange peel. I remember looking for it when I got the box and I thought that maybe I just couldn't identify it from the legend (I clearly didn't count the items), but with this new box, the orange peel is in there and I know it wasn't in my first one. So super disappointing, especially being that these are my favorite chocolates, but it is what it is. In Great British Bake Off, the bakers are constantly asked to make 8 baked treat for their technical challenge and when they don't make all 8, even if they had the best one in the group, they don't win the challenge and sometimes are demoted all the way to the bottom. They're not kicked out for it, but they are not able to be deemed a winner due to missing even one baked item. This is sadly the case here. My colleague and I were celebrating a big accomplishment at work, so we walked to the Ferry Building to explore different places to get a treat. I came across Recchiuti and decided to check it out. I'm a big chocolate fan, so I figured chances were good I'd find something I'd like. Naturally, there were too many tempting choices and, having to get back to work, I made a quick decision to get the Dark Hot Chocolate Pistoles. By the time we got back to the office, I had decided I wanted the chocolate caramels instead. Not wanting the chocolates to get knocked around in my bag, I left the box on my desk, and when I was back the following week, I returned to the Ferry Building and asked to make the exchange. The employee I spoke to agreed that if I wasn't planning to bake a fancy dessert, I'd probably enjoy the caramels more...but he and the other person working at Recchiuti let me know that they don't do returns or exchanges. I pointed out that I had the receipt from the purchase the previous week and that the chocolates were still wrapped and the box was in the exact condition as when I bought it. They certainly weren't rude, but they wouldn't budge, saying that once the chocolates leave the store, they can't take them back. I understand that some stores have a no return policy -- that's their prerogative -- I just think if that's the policy, it would be professional to list that on the receipt and tell the first-time customers (during my visit and selection process, I shared that it was my first time and that I was open to recommendations) that they should be sure of their decisions before buying. We had such a fun time stopping by Recchiuti on our Edible Excursions tour. After a taste of the wonderful chocolate we came back for the Cherries Two Ways. They were exquisite and the staff was efficient and kind. We were extra lucky of meeting one of the owners as well, and he's lovely. Highly recommend the shop. Parking can be a bear at the Ferry Building so we parked a block or so across the street. We were here mid-week and it was lovely to miss the crowds of the weekend. read more

On my last day in SF, I decided to venture out to the Ferry Building. My friend, an SF local, told me that if there was one thing I'd bring home from SF, it'd have to be chocolate from Recchiuti. The associate who helped me was very enthusiastic and generous with his time as he offered me samples and gave various suggestions. I eventually left with a 9-piece assortment of dark chocolates. They were the BEST chocolates I've ever had in my life. I've never been a huge fan of sweet sesame desserts, but the sesame caramel chocolate haunts my dreams. I also loved the yuzu truffle, raspberry ganache, banana, and the rosemary olive oil. I am kind of a purist when it comes to chocolate and am wary of trying wackier flavors; This is mainly because I've tried so many that are gimmicky and executed poorly. Even my parents who don't like strong herbal flavors like rosemary enjoyed Recchiuti's take. The raspberry chocolate honestly changed my life--instead of a kind of gummy, jelly pate de fruit, it's a deeply aromatic, concentrated raspberry paste (?) that oozes out of the chocolate. I would consider 30+ bucks to be a bit steep for 9 pieces of chocolate, but Recchiuti's chocolate is pure art and I would take it over See's any day. read more

We stop here often because my 6.5 year old son likes both Recchiuti and Dandelion dark chocolates. They chocolates are beautifully displaced behind glass jewel box cases. The designs are really pretty. Some of the chocolate is amazing while some of the chocolate truffles are not. Each time we go we buy truffles in a special box with a fancy ribbon. If you're going to go here multiple times be sure to sign up for the rewards program. They do give samples- just ask. These truffles make nice gift for a loved one. Writing this for myself and on behalf of a friend of mine who always get the s'mores bites. They're inconsistent; graham cracker is good sometimes, and stale other times. IMPORTANT: it's not the staff fault, as I know someone who used to work here, and we'd chit chat all together with the rest of the staff, and the staff doesn't control how the packages come from the warehouse. They simple check the dates and make sure they don't keep anything on the shelf past its date; the staff have been wonderful over the years. So I was disappointed when I found out the owner of the company blamed them by saying they need to do better checking the expiration dates?? I've always had a great experience with the customer service. It's clearly the people running the company/owners who need to do better with their products. I've gotten too many stale graham crackers in the s'mores. read more

This review is about the horrible customer experience today. Another customer and I were waiting in line. A sales associate was helping some customers identify chocolates, then proceeded to check them out and ignored us. You can't do anything about oblivious, entitled customers, but the sales associate did a poor job directing customer flow and had no situational awareness. The store sells expensive chocolates, but needs to step up and create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for ALL customers, not just select customers. read more
