Cute, no frills place to get your nails done. I do suggest you make an appointment if you can- they can get pretty busy! I went on a drizzling Sunday, for my first pedicure since moving. I found them on Yelp and they made an appointment for me here, love that! It was Sunday so free meter parking, keep that in mind when trying to book. I think there is only meter parking. Add enough quarters so you don't have to run out with wet polish (ha ha) . There was lots of "regular" polish to choose from as well as gel. They made me feel comfortable and un-pressured to upgrade my basic choices, non-gel basic pedi ($40) which included a soak, clip, file, polish, and massage. The massage chair itself was fairly new and gave an awesome chair massage, very strong! They used clean tools and my lady was super. No pressure to chat, it was calm and relaxing, which I like. I had credits that were about to expire on ClassPass, and much to my surprise I found out I could use my credits for a mani/pedi. I scheduled my appointment about an hour before. In the future, I would call them in advance and confirm their availability prior to booking. I had a great mani/pedi. Paint was applied evenly over the entire nail - something that's tricky to do with white polish. I had glue way under my cuticles to the point where my finger was starting to hurt. I literally had to get the gel removed the next day (at a different location), and the nail lady I went to was in total shock. Great experience every time here! Not only the owner and team are kind, but it just seems the customers are in good moods as well, which isn't a surprise given the environment created. Most recently Walker taught me I can just get dip filled when it grows out a bit by her, Which eliminates the step of soaking my fingers in acetone which other nail salons have required and similar scenarios. I am SO grateful to have met Walker today, she is so great at listening and communicating to ensure that the outcome is exactly what you dreamed of, she is precise and artistic, and overall just a really great human. I'm very picky when it comes to getting my nails done. I've been loyally going to 1 salon for 15 years but now I've moved out of the city and it's harder for me to get out to San Francisco (besides the atrocious parking and spike in crime...) Anyways, I'm closer to Burlingame and for now it's still considered safe so I was on a hunt for a new spot. We tried out a few places all around Burlingame/ SM area and none really hit all the points for me until I came to Maite. First off, the owner is very friendly and she speaks English (not a deal breaker but knowing that you can explain what you want without a language barrier is nice.) They also speak Cantonese which is what I speak as well so I can easily communicate what I want. Also, I NEVER hear them talking crap about their clients in another language (as we sometimes catch at other salons - a big no-no for me.) Second, I loveeee the options for pedicure treatments. Besides just the classic pedicure they have fun ones that has all these add-ons. As someone who is on her feet for 12+ hours on a Saturday, my treat to myself on the Sunday when I get my pedis is the firewalker! Third, they do a thorough job! I my pedicures can last 3 weeks - 1 month (given that the nails would be grown) but I've never had them chip. When I return it's always fully intact just grown out. I do wish their color selection was more extensive ( my go to is a mauve which I don't see here) but Joan the owner said I can always tell her what color I want and they can purchase it for the salon - awesome!! Lastly, they're so nice! I want to get my nails done at a place with good vibes and we've literally chatted with other customers before in a fun relaxed environment. Joan learned our names early on (maybe after our second visit) and remember specific things (i.e my friend's son.) That's true customer service which leads to customer retention. The ladies here are so delightful and fun to get chatty with. They do a great job at making sure you are happy with your nails before leaving. The pedicure was easy, I didn't have to give crazy instructions on what to do with my ingrown because they already knew how I wanted it handled! Looking for a last minute mani/pedi before a trip, I came across this place on Yelp. I live in the area and have been to other places, but so far this place wins. My appointment was at 9am and since other places in the area have usually shown up late, I decided not to stress myself and get there super early. I was promptly greeted and given a chair despite being early. I have the utmost respect for people to respect my time. Dung did my pedicure. She's quiet, but did a great job. Also, since my gel mani was being done at the same time, she was aware that I couldn't move/life my leg every which way on a whim. Diane did my manicure. She was also quiet, but detailed and professional. I didn't like the initial color because it was too sheer, so she helped me find exactly what I wanted. There's one spot where it looks like there could've been more polish, but overall I'm satisfied. Careless... the nail tech was literally looking away talking to someone when this happened, she then proceeded to act surprised. It's very dangerous to look away with electric tools in your hand. Super painful cut and it's been 4 days and it still looks very swollen and red. The fill was done on Saturday and it is now Wednesday night, and the pictures are from couple minutes ago. This is something that could've easily been avoided had the nail tech been paying attention. They seem to always be in very engaged conversations with their colleagues and I don't usually mind, but it's very frustrating when the result is a deep cut that's painful for a long period time, and looks very unprofessional during a week of important work meetings. read more

I wanted to love this place but I just can't. First positive - you can make an appointment online!!! Amazing. Love that. And they took us (my daughter and I on time, no waiting). While I was there I watched several women come in with appointments and all were seen on time. I chose this place because I saw on the website that they have the builder polish, and I wanted to ask about it. When I was there though I only saw the generic gel polish that every place seems to use now, where you choose the color from a plastic fingernail sample. My daughter had a gel mani (they only charged her $40 but on the website says $45) and she was happy with it. I thought it was just OK. Some paint on the skin and cuticle issues but I didn't want to be picky because she liked it. My service was the real problem. I got a regular mani ($25) with an OPi polish off the rack. I was also charged $10 for a removal of a mostly grown out and lifted gel from another salon. I have no problem with the $10. First, she cut my nails all short without asking. This was OK because I wanted them all short. But still, she should have asked. I was very happy when she started buffing with the rotary tool because she was gentle. I thought that she could see that the gel was really thing and already peeling off so she could go easy on me. But then she did more and more until I got that shooting pain where you jump out of your seat a bit. She noticed and eased up. I have a bruise under my nail now on that bit. After that, I was soaked in plain cool tap water, followed by cuticle remover product and then the trimming. That went fine. But then after she dried me she buffed the hell out of my nails AGAIN with a manual buffer. This was not a tool for natural nails - this should only be used on acrylics. I didn't realize until it was too late. Then she took out another buffer (a little square) and did a quick, (gentle) pass over each nail. At that point the damage was done. The polish I chose was a dark red/purple. It shows every mistake, I know. But the application was not good. I had some polish on my skin and 2 of my nails had not enough coverage on the sides. It was no better than I could do at home. I feel like at a salon, it should be perfect application. There was a base coat, 2 color coats and a quick dry. No top coat. At this point I just wanted it to be over and not embarrass my daughter by saying what I wanted to say. In 2 hours my ring finger was chipped. My middle finger had a hang nail. But the biggest disaster is that my nails are paper thin and weak. One nail is splitting up the middle. Another bends backwards if I scratch an itch. I had to cut them all down to the skin that night to avoid tearing and splitting further. This is the description on the service I paid for: Include trim, shape buff, soak, cuticle care, moisturizing massage. Finish with a hot towel and polish of your choice. I received no lotion, no massage, no hot towel. The ladies were so nice and friendly, the owner is wonderful. I really wanted to love this place. I don't know how or why my service was so bad, because they clearly have good reviews and repeat customers. read more

Came here with some friends for an impromptu pedicure day and had a good experience! We walked in around 3pm on a Sunday without reservations and were told to wait about 20-30 minutes for seats. We were sat one-by-one as chairs were vacated and I, being the last one sat, waited about an hour from the time we walked in. They seemed fairly busy, with a constant flow of customers, and I don't blame them for the wait--I'd definitely suggest getting a reservation before you come. The pedicure was great! Even though they were busy, it didn't feel rushed at all, and the massage chair and quick hot stone massage was very relaxing. Afterwards, my feet looked fabulous, and I was so happy with the results. I got regular nail polish and three weeks later, there's not one chip. They didn't have a price listing any where that I could see posted in the salon, and I believe I paid around $36 including tip for the pedicure. I waited until my third visit here to review this place so that I could be sure that the awesome experience I had the first time wasn't a one-off. It sure was not. I come here for pedicures and I can give you two tips 1) Always call ahead if possible. Yes you can walk in and get a service but it's so much better if you let them know you're coming. Even with 10 minutes advance notice. 2) If you find a particular manicurist or pedicurist whose style you like a lot - stick with him or her. You get a consistent predictable experience each time. *UPDATE: I decided to get my acrylics removed and get a regular mani. I decided to come back because my friend didn't use her coupon from last time. I didn't expect them to remove my acrylics by just peeling them off. It was such a pain! I soaked my nails for about 10 mins in Luke warm water. After Nancy came back and removed them. She just got a acrylic tip that wasn't used and placed in between my acrylics and nail and just scraped it off. It was painful. I got a regular mani after. It was decent. There are some air bubbles and you can still see where my acrylics has been under them. She tried to buff them out. The reason I give it a 2 star still is that they don't realize that there are specks or bubbles in the nails and when they finish, they don't double check to see how it is. Oh wells. It cost $12 to remove the acrylics by just peeling them off your nails. So I believe that was a little bit too pricey for how they have done it. I always tip good and I appreciate their hard work but overall experience with the outcome wasn't satisfying to me. Sorry! read more
