Today was my first time at Aqua Nail Salon. I was really unhappy with my nails after going to another local salon last weekend. The nails chipped quickly, the service was rushed and it was just a chaotic experience. My friend, who is a regular at Aqua suggested I try it out and it was awesome. Clean, peaceful, nice service and everything was on time. I had a regular pedicure which came out great. It was also a very thorough job. Then, I had a manicure with builder gel. I had never had this kind of manicure before but the owner who coincidentally did my nails explained the pros of this kind of manicure, what the process was, etc. She was patient about answering my questions, and helped me to pick the right color and best shape for my hands/nails which I really appreciated. Love Aqua Nails! Had been recommended by several family members so I went here before holiday festivities to get a gel manicure. Despite the chaos of the holidays they fit me in next day and did one of the best gel manicures I've had! It looks incredible. Both times I've been I booked online VERY LATE on a Saturday night for an early Sunday morning mani/pedi and it's worked out both times! Friendly staff, good color selection, very aesthetic shop. I called if there was appointments available and they said yes I came and requested Gel X the lady who did my nails seemed like she was in a rush to finish quickly the color was ok but the problem came when I looked down my nails it seemed like they had used a lot of glue and it made look unclean and messy and the worst is that I was charge $85 dollars for a messy final result. I'd love to give them 5 Stars but I have to be honest, I have referred many to Aqua in the past, even though the nail job was inconsistent, sometimes it was ok and some other time it was streaky, linty or uneven filing/shape. 2 stars because I'm nice. Today I stopped by as they had zero patrons... I had a very small toy poodle dog with me. Which she allowed in the past, today she was in some mood and asked what I needed done... I said just a reg mani? (Just got my pedi done the other day) The main lady that's always there doing most of the talking to customers said "ohhh just a regular mani?, She paused for a minute, then replied yeah no, just a reg mani right? Sorry dogs not allowed". Was weird as if I asked for waxing, gel mani and gel pedi, she would have taken me in. Although I tip her $20 each visit, she does not remember me. Bias inconsistent customer service, and every time I come she never remembers me. Burlingame neighbors, take your money to Tameka's across the street instead or the other salon up on Howard street by UPS. They are very nice there, consistent service! read more

Best pedicures!!! Julianne and her ladies are top notch! Love having pedicures there. Quiet relaxing environment. I appreciate there isn't a lot of chatter between technicians or patrons. I appreciate the care taken with every step of the pedicure. All sanitized tools. Mostly it's all about the massage chair and foot/leg massage for me and it's ahhhh-mazing!!! I have pretty much won't go anywhere else. My toes always look great. I have also had most of the nail services and highly recommend them. I made an appointment and respected them by arriving early for my appointment. When I went in today, I was 5 minutes early, made to wait 20 minutes without explanation, others were serviced before me after my scheduled time. After waiting without acknowledgement, I was finally directed to a chair thinking I was up next. Then nothing for another 20 minutes again without information and no service. So totally not acceptable. Speaking in another language to your staff about your customers (when they don't think you know what they're saying) is the epitome of insult. I quietly turned my chair around and left, didn't make a scene, will never go back. The owner answers the phone, "what can I do for you?" I'll tell you what...Respect me by meeting the appointment you made and making your client a priority. read more

I wanted to try another nail salon in the Downtown Burlingame area and found this place through Yelp. After reading the positive reviews, I wanted to come in and see it for myself. I am a fan of these massage chair/pedicure water basin stations and I wanted to try the Spa Pedicure for $25. I lounged for a good 20 minutes while the pulsing water jets calmed my feet. Wei attended to my feet and she was gentle. She scrubbed, massaged with oil and lotion, not only my feet but my legs, too and then applied two hot towels on them when she was finished. You also get a no frills back and bottom massage via massage chair. Love it. She even cleaned up the streaks of polish around my nails with a thin brush with nail polish remover and that's actually the very first time someone did this; instead of removing the polish with their long fingernails after a line of polish is stranded in the side of the nail meets the side of the toe. Ladies, you know what I'm talking about. LOL That usually is the dealbreaker and she passed with flying colors! The place is very clean, well lighted and organized. They have a wall rack full of OPI, Essie and China Glaze nail polish to choose from. They even have a nail drying station (for both manicure and pedicure customers for the post-service). They turn on automatically and has a sensor motion. Freakin' cool! ;o) When it was time to bounce, Wei came over and sprayed the nail dry on my feet and I was ready to go! Sweet. I hate giving this place a 1 star review... BUT I have no choice! After seeing positive reviews here on Yelp, my friend and I decided to come visit this salon. This review is 100% for my experience with the shellac french manicure that I had done here on Sunday May 13th, 2012. As everyone states in the reviews, the girls who work here are pleasant and very quiet. They are not like most nail salons where the girls are speaking in Vietnamese to each other and laughing hysterically. In that sense~ it was nice and relaxing. The girl working at the front reception area was very nice and sweet as well. Unfortunately, that is all with the positive comments. 24 hours after my shellac manicure, the polish started to lift / peel. 48 hours after the service, PLEASE SEE THE PICTURE I've added to this page. :( It really speaks for itself!! They used Gelish Shellac polish on me. According to the Gelish website it states: "Gelish stays on nails for three weeks with NO chipping or peeling, and soak completely off in only 15 minutes." Again-- please see the picture I attached. This was 48 hours after I got my nails done. Not 1 week... 2 weeks or 3 weeks later. 2 full days later... and ALREADY PEELING!!?!? $30 USD for a Shellac manicure isn't bad, but it was VERY expensive considering it lasted ONLY 2 days AND I had to go to another nail salon to get the shellac removed and redone. The girl I usually go to at another salon in Fremont stated that the original job done was poor. The cuticles were not cut well. The nails were filed crooked and the shellac was just peeling...... Maybe I was just one that got very unlucky on an off day but I had to share my end result of my nails since... well it simply sucked. read more

The service I received and witnessed being given was impeccable. The staff really goes out and beyond, that being said there are a few things to be aware of. First, it's best to call ahead of time for an appointment because they are really booked. Second, if you want a design of any kind, kindly let them know ahead of time so they can reserve more time for you at your appointment. Third, they accept credit cards, Venmo, and cash. Yen was my nail stylist for pedicure a few times and she is always extra patient, careful and sweet - spends extra time on my pedicure and I don't feel rushed. This is absolutely not a good experience. The women who was serving for me was not professional!!! She missed up so many steps and just hurried to finish. My nails were not clean and didn't look like well! I asked her how much should I pay at the end, she said 50 please. But I saw it was 35. So I asked her to show me the price on the price list. She stared to say: oh, you need to pay 35 and an extra 15 for ****. But that 15 was not here on the list, but I have it on the system! Are u kidding me? I've been multiple times before and my nails never turn out nice but this past time I walked in with no appointment and asked for a mani pedi. The woman asked if I could come back later and said no I'll just go somewhere else, no problem. She then said take a seat and pick a color. I chose the color for my pedi then asked for a gel French mani. The woman did my mani in a rush. I asked for a natural color or pink to go over my nail- I didn't want my nail to show through. She said no pink so I thought she was going to go with a natural color. She did not. Just the white tips. I decided to just go with it. When she finished I grabbed my color for pedi and asked where to sit. She replied I thought you just wanted a mani, we don't have time to do a pedi. I unfortunately paid almost $50 for a terrible mani. I would have returned in the future if she just had been honest and we can't take you instead of hurrying and doing a horrible job. Awful. Paid extra for a "signature pedicure," which was supposed to have longer massage and scrub. Not relaxing at all. Water was not warm. Massage was awful, just like someone gingerly rubbing lotion on you. I even asked for more pressure and she said ok but did not increase pressure. She clearly does not know how to massage at all. Very rushed. The scrub was about just as weak and did nothing to smooth my heals or toes. My girlfriend said hers was just as bad and commented on their color selection, saying she was relieved she brought her own polish. One star for getting me in without an appointment on a busy Friday morning. I used to be a frequenter two years ago but have since moved. I came back since I was in the hood. I get their around 9:45 since their site said they opened at 9am. Still closed, looks like they open at 10am (Aqua gals please update your site). No biggy, grabbed a coffee and some more change for the meter. Came back at 10 and their door was open. Their nail selection was blah. I'm more of a China Glaze kinda gal and looking at previous reviews apparently they had a wide selection. There was only one bottle, but luckily it was a color I liked. Got to my chair, nodded for the gal to trim and shape my toe nails...COUGH, COUGH...all over my foot. No covering of mouth, no sorry let me grab some antibacterial...OMG, really?! Thankfully the water was almost scalding (the way I like it) I immediately soaked my feet to sanitize them. I also thought that it was tacky that they set a timer/buzzer by your chair to time their leg massages. Are they trying not to set a relaxing atmosphere? Finally I was finished, paid and took a look at my toes. My right big toe was trimmed and filed crooked, but at least the color was pretty. Sorry Aqua you just lost a customer. read more

By Far the best Gel manicure I've had since living in Burlingame. My gel manicure has stayed perfectly in tact for over 2 weeks! I'm in shock. I'm a hairstylist and my gel polish never stays this long. I can not remember the ladies name that did my gel manicure but she seemed to be the person in charge. The nail salon was very busy and all the ladies coming in and out seemed happy. I was there for less than 1 hour, which is impressive for a full gel manicures. The salon was clean and new tools were used for my gel manicure. I will most definitely be back and I'm excited to try their pedicure; I've been on the search for an amazing pedicure experience. read more

I had been looking for a new nailshop to start frequenting since the commute to my nailshop of many years is such a strain to get to ontime from Burlingame to downtown Oakland in rush hour traffic. I google searched and came across Aqua which was only a block away from work - Perfect! I would always pass by this business going to and from work and after reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. I went over at 5:30pm when I got off work to drop in for a fill and pedicure. I was not approached or greeted immediately and when I was the person was extremely unprofessional. She was eating food while asking me what I wanted done. I told her what service I required and she stared blankly for a while looking at the clock on the wall before asking me again what it was I needed done. Finally she told me they didnt have time. I told her I'd take my business elsewhere. I was so disappointed in the customer service or lack there of. I came to work and told my coworkers my experience as they were anxiously waiting to hear my review as they too were looking for a closer nailshop. I will never go to Aqua again but will continue my drive to Oakland while I attempt to try other local burlingame nailshops with better customer service. My first experience wasn't the greatest but I gave them another chance which was a mistake. My nails look like they have not even been filled and he missed polish on the sides. I'm not even picky when it comes to nails but I think my 10 year old could have done better. I asked him to fix them and they came out worse the 2nd time. I normally get my nails done over at Nails By Lisa in Pacifica, and I absolutely ADORE them, but I was in a pinch and needed to get a fill someplace close to work, so I took a trip over to Aqua, and I must say I was quite impressed. The salon was super clean and modern, there was a very good selection of nail polish colors. The woman who did my fill was very attentive to my requests and made sure my nails were the length and shape that I love. She also suggested colors since I am really into dark polish in the winter. My favorite part of the whole fill was when she massaged cuticle oil into my nails and then massaged my hands with a hot towel that smelled like it had just gotten out of the dryer. The fill was quick, looked amazing, and was inredibly affordable. When I don't have time to make it to my normal salon, I will definitely be coming here. read more

I came here with a group of 7-8 friends for a private mani-pedi party and had a great time. Aqua allowed us to bring our own food and wine, and even set up a large table for us. They are pretty efficient. One of my friends and I smudged our nails while they were drying (our fault), but the ladies at Aqua corrected them without any fuss. They had a window open to air out the fumes, which I appreciate, since some nail salons can have that strong acetone smell that makes you vomit.
