Large store , prices ok , no air conditioning and no restroom. You cannot have a store of this size without a bathroom

Even though the prices are high they are always nice and cordial. The value is lacking on some items.

Service is meh. The prices are ridiculous. I went in to look for USED baby clothes and was surprised to find that their unit prices are more expensive than brand new items at TJMAXX... $3.99 for a SINGLE onesie when I could buy a pack of 4 for $10.99 brand new? Give me a break. I hope more people do the math. read more

I've been shopping at Maj-r thrift stores for years. In my opinion, Raytown location had the best prices, I went inside the other day and OMG! The prices are ridiculously high. I was shopping for clothing for my 2 God children, I would normally find great things for them for good reasonable prices. I've seen children's items $5.99, $9.99 and $12.99 for a shirt. $19.99 for a used stained hoodie. With prices like that I might as well go else where and buy them brand new. Beware! Don't shop here. Don't work here. Discriminatory practices by Management and owner toward customers and staff. Discrimination based on AGE SEX RACE or a bad mood, to both employees and customers is illegal. Screaming, bullying, belittling and making 'policies' up to punish and discriminate is how they do business. It's a hostile shopping environment. It's a hostile workplace. The other day That manager screamed across the store at an elderly employee picking clothes up off the floor. It was terrible and I won't support that. No way. never again. Try to use a coupon or discount and you'll find out it's up to their discretion. The managerial 'discretion' is interesting. I think it's based on her mood that day. It's nuts. She'll rob you blind and not blink an eye. Prices are now officially bonkers. I've seen Walmart shirts for the grandkids at original Walmart prices. No, not new. Used and wrinkled, for the original price. They have stuff from the Dollar Tree for 5.99 that you can still find for 1.25 at the Dollar Tree (NEW!) LOL. This place used to be solid. It's gone now. I'm a long-time customer who's just had it. You won't get another dollar from me. I've seen too much and heard too much and expect better (even from a dusty thrift shop). If you shop there, save the aggravation and insults and 'stink eye' and crazies and go somewhere else. If you work there and have to put up with the obvious insanity, contact the EEOC or Human Rights Commision. Seriously! They have laws against that kind of thing. Nobody should have to work for people with no professional integrity. I pity the employees working under that roof. Also, clean that place up. It's filthy! I usually don't post negative reviews, but this place deserves it. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

The woman working there Saturday night (March 8th) was incredibly rude. I went with my parents and my mom went to try on a pair of jeans and this worker starts SHOUTING at her that their dressing rooms are closed. Fine. Except she doesn't stop. My mom says "oh sorry" and closes the dressing room door, walking away from it, and the woman is STILL shouting at her that they're closed. Why, if my mom was already walking away? Then, she shouts "I don't even know how you got in there: the door was locked." She got in there by simply opening it. The door was not locked. When my parents informed the worker of this, she shouts "No" at them. Just accusing them of lying for no reason, when it's likely her fault the door was unlocked in the first place since she was the only worker there! The whole time we've been there she's also on the phone with a friend, and she loudly proclaims over the phone "if they keep doing it I'm just gonna call the cops!" 1. Keep?? My mom tried going in once because there were no signs saying it was closed and the door wasn't locked. 2. Why did she feel the need to say that or to shout it for the entire store to hear? 3. Maybe it'd be easier to check if the doors are locked if you weren't in the phone all night. The rest of our visit was spent listening to hear walk around the store loudly talking on her phone. This store has horrible Customer Service I Would Not recommend it. I went there on Friday October 25 @1:10pm. I was looking for a keyboard in which they had one the tag said $19.99. I decided to purchase the keyboard.When I got to the front the cashier all of a sudden said it was $49.99. I said that tag did not say that , she then said no it's a code on the bottom. I said to her that it is not on the tag. I explained to her that you cannot do that. Also told her that is considered bate and switch which is illegal to do, and she said she would get her. The lady went to the back and came back and said she was busy call Monday,On Monday October 28 I call at 5:15 and spoke with the Manager she then told m that it looked as though it had been changed I asked her if she was trying to say I did it she said no. However there is something on the bottom, I then said then again then it should have not been out then. Then I told her that I would put on social media ( blast) and let people know. Then she said that I was threatening said how, and she could not say. Then I was told the they would charge me a lesser price, again I said that is bait and switch.We the hung up because I had nothing more to say . At 6:15 I received a call from another manager who said that this was their store policy I said again that is still bait and switch I had a retired member law enforcement listening to all the calls.The reason for this because I want a witness to what was said. The lady on that call after telling me that was there policy I then ask how I could contact the owner she gave me a number and said that has been doing it 30 years like that. However, I can come in and they would discount it. It is the principle of the matter wanted it because I wanted to learn to play the keyboard but then it became a matter of principle. How many people has this happened to and we never say anything, because we say it is not worth it. I took pictures that day and do have them. read more

This is a great part of the Raytown community providing affordable items, great customer service, daily discount deals on the price tag color(s) of the day and easy access from Hwy 350 & Raytown Road. The displays, orderly placements of sizes and quality of name brand shoes, clothing, and electronics make it a 5 star for this shopper. l read more

This store is very well organized. Soon as you walk in it's women's clothes, kids and then mens. Accessories to the very back then toys and furniture. My kids love the toy section. My only complaint would be to go during big sales because they are on the pricey side any other time. read more

This place has gone to the dogs. Seriously, such a mess and over priced. They had a sign up that says Royals sale 50% off without further explanation. The employees seemed very much involved with talking to each other. In fact, as we walked in, there was a line of people waiting to pay and one of the ladies waiting shouted across the store "What do I have to do to get some service here?" I found one item I wanted. It was priced a little high, but I figured for 50% off that'd be about right. I went up to pay and the cashier finally stopped talking and eating his chips to come over and ring up the item to charge me full price. I tell him the sign says 50% off. He said the sign is only for people that are wearing Royals (it was the day before the season opener). I told him that is not what the sign said, but okay, to cancel the transaction. His friend stands up and says "you're not from around here are you?". I told him that I don't currently live in Raytown, but did live there for 2 years and used to visit that store a lot. He says to me "sprechen sie deutsch? Don't you know about the Royals"... this went on, but finally they did honor the sale price; however, I made it clear it was my last visit to this "fine" establishment. read more

Very nicely organized. The furniture is in the back, housewares in the front, clothes in the middle, purses and shoes far right wall. This place used to be a supermarket so it's huge. The savings are good but the original prices are not. What I mean is that certain tags will be 75% off on the weekdays. So an orange tag 7.99 dress will be $2.99 if the color tag of the day is orange too that's a steal!! But the items that aren't the tag color of the day are regular price. Not that great. Normally 20% off on weekends (I think?) also NO public restrooms. So much quantity not enough quality but you'll find one or two things in the sea of wares. Happy thrift hunting. read more

MAJR is one of my favorite thrift stops in the area. The store is open and clean and prices are much more desirable compared to Red Racks and City Thrift. Every Sunday furniture is one sale also. Great selection and easy to get to. read more

I have shopped at Maj-R thrift stores for years. I have been to the Raytown location a few times hoping it would be better each time. The store is clean and organized. And the prices are reasonable. However the staff leaves much to be desired. Yesterday was the worst experience. Who I'm guessing is the manager was ordering around the girls trying to put away clothes etc. She was basically following them around. When it was time to check out she was standing by the register but instead of ringing me up she called one of the busy girls over and off she went to the back room. The girl walked up as if she would rather be anywhere than where she was. She didn't utter a word. She stood there while I took all the hangers off. So to wrap up the customer service could be better but judging by the micro manager I would be miserable too. read more

No public restroom! I found out when I visited this store that they do not provide public restrooms for their customers. I find it interesting that this location was a grocery store before and did have public restrooms which to me says that they chose not to provide public restrooms even though they have the facilities available. It is very difficult for someone with IBS or Crohn's to not have a public restroom available to them when they are shopping. I had to leave my cart and all my stuff when I figured out that they did not have restrooms so that I could go home. I will refrain in future from shopping at this location and I hope others do the same. read more

I really love this store. It's become kind of a habit to stop here when I head to Wal-Mart. I always find cool things, but the prices are a bit high on many items considering it should be a "thrift" store, so I usually have to stick to the colored tags on sale and pray the other things I really wanted to get will still be there when that color is on sale. I do wish there were sales more often on other non-clothing items as I always find something I really wanted to get, but couldn't due to the marked price. I've usually found the staff pretty friendly and helpful. There was a guy there sweeping last time I went who was very nice and personable. read more
