After moving to Kansas City I quickly scoured the town for the best in the area-and headed off to several in both Westport and Overland Park that Yelp claimed were some of the best in town. This shop, however, is BY FAR heads and shoulders above the rest. When you walk into this store everything about it screams upscale, chic, modern-yet-vintage boutique. The decor is perfection (and something I always promise I will try to craft for my own home) and the window displays are perfectly styled to give you an idea of the season's trends and the store's offerings. The owners/staff are also the most welcoming, friendly bunch I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. (I can tell you I've walked into Ditto and Clothz Minded several times and never once been told "Hi" or treated like a valued customer. ) And if the initial greeting doesn't sell you-try plucking something off the rack and wait to see how long it takes one of the owners or staff to offer to place your items in a fitting room for you a-la-Free People and other high end boutiques. THAT'S customer service, my friends. As far as some of these negative reviews go-I'd like to remind everyone that one of the most important parts of owning a store like this is knowing your buyer. They can't buy everything you want to sell them-they'd hemorrhage money like crazy if they purchased everything people bring in. If the put forth the money for purchase-they need to know the item is going to have a buyer. I know it's hard to walk into a store, hopeful that you will receive a ton of money for items you no longer want. But unfortunately if you no longer want them you have to realize there's a good chance that others won't either. And it's Revive's job to make that tough decision so when I - as their buyer - go there looking for new fashion finds I'm not slapped in the face with ten year old GAP pieces that were on trend in 2009 or a plethora of forever 21, american eagle and other teeny bopper brands that have no place being in the wardrobe of anyone over 15 (I'm looking at you Ditto. *glare*) And this is why I can't say enough great things about this store. ALL of the clothing I've purchased has been on trend, in perfect condition (sometimes NWT) and sold at MUCH better prices than online retailers or other local consignment stores. I've walked out with Free People and Marc Jacobs for under $10. I've purchased a $1000 limited edition AUTHENTIC Coach bag from them for $350 after discounts. And EVERY time I visit I purchase at least one jewelry item that the owner has specifically purchased a gold and silver version of to sell in the store (if the silver version is out-I've probably gotten there before you. :D) And that says a LOT about this store and the owner's understanding of the fashion industry. As a buyer I feel like this store was MADE for me. Do I like everything they have on the racks? No. Do I walk in every time thinking "Ugh, this is my favorite store and I'm about to do some damage?" Yes. Do yourself a favor and give this shop a try. Don't let the negative reviews fool you-this place is a gem that'd I'd completely miss if I ever left KC. * And in response to the lone review about the replica bag-do homework before ever purchasing something from a brand like Louis Vuitton or Coach that is known to be easily counterfeited. If you are ever unsure and authenticity is of great concern to you-I'd recommend checking out readily available online guides to assist you in your purchase. Fast forward to today: I receive a text message saying my clothes have been processed and I have an offer ready. Excited, I arrive at the store, only to be told that they are looking for fall clothes. They told me to bring my clothes next year. No offer was given. I'm sorry, but it is not good business to tell someone that he/she has an offer ready, only to not receive any money at all. Additionally, there were clothes I brought that, with the right accessories, such as a shrug, could easily be fall clothes because of the colors. At first, I told them to donate my clothes, but after giving it some thought, returned and took them back. I wish the girl yesterday would have told me they are only accepting fall clothes. I would have gone through the box and pulled out the fall pieces right then and there. Instead, I feel like they didn't go through the box in its entirety and my time as a customer was not valuable to them.

The clerk gave me a friendly greeting, asked if I needed any assistance and I let her know I'd just be browsing around. They did have a pretty good selection, I started in the sale section because I'm cheap (haha). I found several nice tops, that were new with tags, but each of them had a flaw of some sort. I don't hold this against Clothes Mentor, especially considering the fact that this is a consignment store AND that I was mostly looking at clearance items. I guess the part that bothered me a little is that some of the tags would say AS IS on them and some didn't. Maybe not every issue had come to their attention yet. So, just be careful. I found a shirt that was a great price, so decided to get it. When I went to check out the lady working was so bubbly and friendly. I actually enjoyed shopping there and left happy. So, even though Lee's Summit isn't a place I get to often, I wouldn't mind going back sometime in the future.

They've outfitted me for a disco derby party and a Cirque themed party in the past year or so. Rental prices are fair, and you're sure to get compliments as this is real deal vintage apparel. They also have a thrift store component where you can hunt for vintage finds like button downs, pants, suit jackets and the like. While there are definitely some treasures and deals to be found, it's ultimately a downgrade in quality from the previous location, at least at the current time. I also want to note that despite loudly advertising that "all clothing is $2.98," they have a section at the front of higher priced clothing items. I admit I think this is a rather duplicitous business practice. It also seems random what clothes are put up there. Some of it was the same fast fashion that infests the rest of the clothing racks, while some finer materials and true vintage was languishing on the $2.98 racks. It just didn't make sense to me! It's worth a stop if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way for Frugal's.

I found the parking lot to be depressing as if I was in the middle of no-where with civilization being hundreds of miles away. I'm just adding this point as it was the way I felt. That said, the staff friendly and most of the patrons were very nice. Please note Thrift stores are very hit or miss so going from week to week can result in a highly different experience. I'll be the first to admit, all thrift stores have a funky smell to them and I found Frugal's to be especially smelly; nothing to the point of unbearable but it lingers for the duration of the visit. Now in terms of being what do they offer, well pretty much everything and anything. Furniture, clothing, toys, books, CDs/DVDs, cookware, you name it. I found the kitchen section in terms of pots, pans, mixers and things of that nature to be very sparse while their main attraction was clothing. Off in the back right, one can find a small furniture section with some decent to horrible offerings. I liked some of the books they had and was extremely tempted to pick something up since I found many that perked my interest. Their music selection had me laughing as I noticed a couple odd bands from the 80s, 90s and beyond which I don't think anyone would buy. Color Me Bad anyone? I don't recall seeing much for motorized lawn equipment but I was in and out relatively quickly. Overall, thrift stores have a very particular clientele and subculture. I'm pretty sure if you're reading this you know how things go, so I'm not going to try and upsell you, rather give you the thumbs up to come on by and see what they got. It's safe and the people are nice while have a very large floorspace open to many different reasonably priced objects.

I did love that it was next to a grocery store since that was on my agenda to visit. Staff here was friendly as well and I did enjoy what to store offered and it was all the great price but I was deeply offended and hurt seeing that a pair of jeans was being sold for $20! Sure they were nice but I don't count to a thrift store paying department store prices. Great selection of knick knacks and cool items for your house that are unexpected finds. Great variety of board games too.

There's a range of price points of beautifully curated minimal modern & vintage clothing, jewelry, home, beauty, gifts. The new space even has an incredible matcha bar! they really have it all! It's a space that invites you to slow down. Moving to KC after living in larger cities it was a breath of fresh air! I've since moved away, but still shop online often and stop in when I'm in town.
