Great painting team, but beware of high costs and the mercurial moods of the owner, Nick. We were given a proposal for $8,800 (including $1,500 for materials) for three areas of painting in our home. We do have high ceilings and we decided to go with Majestic Painters, whose proposal was almost three times more expensive than our other two quotes, because they said they had large enough ladders to not require scaffolding. The job was estimated to last four days and was completed in two days. When I asked the owner, Nick, to help me understand why the labor costs were not impacted by the 50% reduction in labor time and to provide receipts for material costs, he refused saying, "No, I do not need to send you an itemized list of costs" and became rude and belligerent. He told me that I "did not get to determine how much money I make or how I'm paid or what my profit margin is." At the end of the day, the painting quality was great, however the cost of the job was astronomical, and the owner has no interest in forming a trusting and collaborating relationship with his customers. read more

Majestic Painters did a fantastic job painting the exterior of our house and we were impressed with how smooth the entire process was. The first meeting was a color consult with Amber. Choosing a paint color can be overwhelming and having someone knowledgeable guide us was very helpful. Once they started, the hardworking crew worked non stop. They pressure washed, scraped, patched, sealed and did everything necessary to properly prep the house. They carefully proceeded to paint, always checking to make sure it was done right. We especially commend Alejandro who was very polite and patient with our questions and requests. He obviously took pride in his work and paid close attention to details including leaving the area clean every day. The owner, Nick, often dropped by to ensure the project was on track and that every part of the house was painted the way we liked it. After having Majestic Painters paint our home's exterior a few years ago, we called them again to paint our interior trim. As expected, Nick (the owner), clearly communicated and updated me via phone and text and his crew was meticulous and professional. Nick was referred by a colleague who was very happy with his whole-house paint job. He was very patient and provided us with 3 different estimates based upon different scope of work. When we decided to upgrade the job to include additional work, Nick was more than fair in revising the price. However the most important factor is the timeliness and quality of work performed. And here I can say that Majestic earned 5 stars. The job was 100% professional and the painters were very responsive to our special requests and went above-and-beyond in terms of woodwork, replacing outlet covers, etc. Not to mention they were all very nice. Did I mention that we were on a tight schedule (with moving vans scheduled) and they finished the job on time? In sum, Majestic ended up painting several rooms in a recently purchased house including some tall ceilings and complete glossy kitchen, plus refinishing some exposed woodwork. The owner Nick was awful to us. The first 4 times we scheduled the painting, no one showed up. When I would call to ask where they were he would just say Oh ya we're not coming anymore or I forgot we scheduled you today. Four times this happened even though I had repeatedly told him my husband was taking work off to be there since Nick wanted to walk through with him first. It was ridiculous. The guys who (finally) did the painting on the house did a nice job although I wouldn't say it stood out compared to any of our neighbors houses that had recently been painted. However, we have stairs leading up to our house and the paint job on the stairs was horrible. Within the first week, the paint was completely coming off in huge chunks all over our steps. When I sent pictures to Nick of how badly they had turned and we said they must not have been primed correctly (my husband and both sides of our family are in construction), Nick responded that you don't prime stained stairs even though our stairs were originally painted barn door red, never stained. He essentially said he would charge us the same price to re-paint them even though they were totally done wrong. Photos and his email response attached. I called Nick because of the great recommendations on Yelp. I was looking forward to his estimate after our initial call to schedule an appointment. Our appointment was for tonight (8/3/12) at 5:30. I waited until 5:50 to call and see if he was still going to show up; I received his voicemail. I continued to wait until 6:30 before giving up. It's now 7:46 and I still have not hear from him. If he cannot show up to do an estimate on time or call to reschedule how can I trust that he will show up for the job. Really disappointed, especially because of the good reviews on Yelp. Are you kidding me....we made our first appintment with Niick for 9:00am on a friday ( his selection)....a no show so we called at 9:30 and he said he just forgot....first warning sign. Base on a competative quote we made the 2nd appointment for Monday @ 3:00pm to sign contracts and make the deposit ....again it was his time selection....another no show. I called him and he said ....oh I forgot I had to pick up my daughter from school....guess I should have called.....I told him I was very concerned about his lack......he hung up on me....HE IS DONE. After calling several painters, decided to call one more after finding Majestic Painters on Yelp, with the rave reviews. Nick's congenial presentation put him over the top for painting our house, cottage, and lattice arbor. We had been warned that stucco repair patch has a sheen that flat paint doesn't cover well. Majestic must have figured this out already, as the paint proposed has reviews as better than lthe best that can be found at the big hardware stores, or KM. And the trim paint was the best SWillams. The Arbor needed a primer coat so we asked for the SW oil based. Very happy with the painting the crew of three did (8 days). They really did a great final cleanup, power washing the concrete patio, and painting a few items we told them not to paint, which they replied they had enough paint to finish it. To top it off, with the higher quality of paint, quality of painting, Nick gave us the best price. read more

I normally don't pick the lowest quote, but I did in this case because they got great reviews, was the only Diamond Certified one, provided a color consultant at no charge, had the best warranty ( 6 years and will come back at the 6 year mark and make touch ups or re-caulk joints that have cracked or separated), included 2 coats of paint, provided a written warranty, provided pages of references and was licensed, insured and a member of the Better Business Bureau.
