I have a simple Seiko watch with sentimental value that I took in recently to get a new battery to installed ($14), and he offered to steam clean it, which it desperately needed ($20). Left for about an hour to get a haircut, and when I came back he said it was finished. The cleaning job on the band looked great, but when I put the watch on my wrist I immediately noticed what I thought at first was a drop of glue or something on the face of the watch (didn't have my reading glasses on so I couldn't tell right away what it was), just over the 11 o'clock mark. I tried to wipe it off, but I borrowed a pair of his glasses and it was actually a huge chunk of glass missing from the face. He watched me trying to wipe it off, not saying a word, and when I realized it was actually a big chunk of glass that had been chipped he kind of fumbled for something to say, and more or less said that that's the way it was when I gave it to him. I told him no it wasn't, and that there's NO WAY he could've possibly done that and not noticed that he did it. In over 30 years of wearing the watch every single day, in every job, every sports activity from snow skiing to skydiving, the most I've ever managed to do was to put a single tiny scratch on the glass that's invisible except in just the right light (in a completely different spot than where he chipped it). In less than an hour in his possession he managed to take a big chunk of glass out of the face, and pretended like he knew nothing about it and that it was that way when I gave it to him. Mistakes happen. If he'd accidentally done that while he was working on it and told me, and offered to fix it (better yet have it fixed properly before I got back), I would've had no problem at all. But trying to give me back the watch without saying anything much less fixing what he'd done, and having the audacity to tell me that it was that way when I gave it to him as if I wouldn't notice a broken watch face that I look at many times every single day, isn't acceptable. He pretty quickly offered to replace the glass, knowing full well that he broke it, but I offered to pay half the cost simply because I knew about that tiny scratch and felt like it would be fair. He didn't say anything but readily accepted my money, so I paid another $20 to have the glass replaced ($40 normally), which took about 2 minutes, and left. Credit where credit's due, he did a good job steam cleaning the band, the new battery worked fine, and the new glass seems to be installed properly (fingers crossed). It would've been a 5 star review if not for breaking my watch and trying to pass it off as something that was already that way when I gave it to him. However for the ineptitude that somehow broke the glass, and the sleazy attempt to give me back a broken watch and pretend like it was already that way and that he didn't know anything about it, he's getting 2 stars and lucky to get that. I will not be going back to that store for anything, and wouldn't recommend anyone else take their watch, clock, or jewelry there for repair. In the future I'll take pictures of watches or jewelry before I give them over to someone for repair, and I'd recommend others do the same. read more

I went in there, interested in a Rythm Clock, and the guy took forever to come out from the back, when he did, he spoke to my husband and I for under a minute and walked right back to the back, and left us staring there. Unbelievably rude. I have several Rhythm clocks and wanted to replace on that I had gove to a friend, as I miss it! Apparently they don't want to sell clocks there! read more

I got fleeced by this store today. I was at the store next door and decided to go to Major Jewelers to get my car key fob battery replaced. The employee said he could replace the battery and would do it for me. Nice, I thought. What was not nice was the charge of $18.95 for a battery that costs $3.00 anywhere else. I was so stunned I could only say "that is one expensive battery." Price gouging is becoming the norm these days. Stay away from this place unless you have money to burn. Bummer. My husband dropped my Mickey Mouse watch off at Major Jewelers two weeks ago and we picked it up yesterday. It was from the 1960's, didn't work and needed to be cleaned. The face had a scratch and not clear. Now it looks GREAT! Scratch is gone! It hasn't looked this good in years. Mickey's hands are moving again, yea!!! Just walked in with three watches that needed to be sized and needed new batteries. The man working there was extremely nice and was ready to help. He said to give him 15 minutes and he would have all 3 ready, for a very competitive price. When I came back all 3 watches were sized and. Arteries replaced, he had me try them all on to make sure I was happy. They fit perfect and I was surprised to see that he has set the time on all of them. Great service, we will be back! read more

I don't normally do reviews and especially a negative review but I would give this place zero stars if I could. I simply asked a question about a watch that I purchased for my Husband about 6-8 months prior that was not keeping the correct time but it was still under warranty from Fossil. I asked him if there was something that I could send back to Fossil with the watch to have it fixed and he said with an attitude "Well how do I know you bought it here?" I said "Because I did buy it here and I am just asking if you have like a paper thing that comes with them or copy of one with an address to send it in. (because my husband threw the box away) but that I had the receipt at home somewhere but I was out and decided to stop in and ask. His attitude made me so mad and I told him "NEVERMIND because he was so rude and there was no reason for it!" After all the name calling and belittling I finally let him have a piece my mind which included that "he is one of the shadiest dirt bags I have ever come in contact with and that I would NEVER spend one more penny in that place and neither will my friends or family!" And if you are reading this review you won't either. Go to Dan's Jewelers, Dan's ended up fixing my Husbands watch for us and we haven't had a problem since. read more

I took my watch into Major Jewelers for repair on December 18, 2013 and paid them $20.00 by check. By the first week of January 2014 my check had still not cleared. I called and was informed that because they receive checks so seldom they deposit them every 2 weeks or so. I went into the store the next day to ask for my check back so I could pay them cash and was told that they would be deposited any day now. Finally on Saturday January 13, 2014 I went into the store again and was told they would have to talk to the owner that he should have deposited them the day before. They took my information to have the owner call me. None of my interactions with the staff were pleasant or friendly. I was treated as a nuisances. Today is January 15, 2014 and the check has still not cleared. I called the store, was given attitude and told that the checks were deposited today. I was treated like an idiot for being inconvenienced by the situation because, "When you write a check you just balance the check book so what is the big deal!" Not impressed and will never take my business to them again!!! read more
