Thought it was about time that I start eating healthy, so I stopped by this new poke place for lunch in Foothill Ranch. They are located in a fairly large shopping plaza near Ralphs and a bunch of other fast food establishments. Plenty of parking is available. I noticed that they had all 5 star reviews, so I had to check them out. I'll start by saying that I really wanted to love them. Upon arrival, the inside was very clean but what really stood out was their customer service! The lady behind the counter (I assumed she was the owner) was so friendly and kind. This is your typical poke bowl place where you start by selecting your bowl size. They only have 2 sizes - regular for $11 includes 3 proteins, and large for $13 includes 4 proteins. I was bummed that they didn't have a small size, as I always get a small bowl and most poke places offer that. After selecting your bowl size, you go through the normal routine of selecting your base (salad for me), proteins, toppings and sauces. Nothing really stood out to me in terms of their proteins or toppings, meaning that they don't offer anything different than what most poke places offer. One thing that I did notice is that they have a lot of sauces, and it seemed you could have as many as you wanted. All of the proteins and toppings looked very fresh. I was excited to dig into it. I added avocado for $1 extra just to make sure my bowl was extra extra. Unfortunately, the overall taste was not there for me. I don't know if it was my fault for not adding more goodies or sauces, but I did notice that they do not mix your proteins with the sauces before putting it on your base. That may be the difference between tasty and dry. Honestly, my bowl was very dry and I think it's because it wasn't blended together. For $13 (after adding the avocado and tax), it just wasn't worth it to me. I do wish them the best, though. As I mentioned, their customer service is top-notch. Great local poke spot! Came in to order a late lunch and they were able to guide me through the ordering process. I think their bowls are fairly priced and the toppings and sauce options were more than enough! It's a small store in the plaza with a few seats inside, I saw that there was more takeout orders being placed, and I also ended up taking it home to eat. Staff was very helpful in guiding me and they also made sure their indoor seating was kept clean and tidy! Will be coming back again :) read more

It's is good poke place I've been here 6 times but they will skimp you to no end. A 14$ large bowl and they will give you tiny pinches of everything, the sauce that they give you have to tell him extra to put on a normal amount. I came here awhile back but didn't get a chance to leave a review until now. My base was white rice, and it was light and fluffy. The protein options are decent, but they had everything I usually order from other places. I ordered my bowl of salmon and spicy tuna. Everything tasted fresh. The salmon was cut into a good chunks. The spicy tuna was flavorful, spicy with a little bit of tanginess. I LOVE the variety of toppings, it really makes poke just that much more enjoyable. For the sauce, I ordered house ponzu sauce and spicy mayo. Personally, I think the house ponzu could be richer, but it was still really good though. Everything tasted very good together! At first I thought $11 for a small poke bowl was outrageous but I wanted to give this place a try. I was so wrong. It was a GIANT bowl (other places would've considered this a large). They have a ton of toppings you can add on at no additional charge (except for avocado, of course). They were super generous with their portions and made your $11 worth every penny. And my god, it was SO good. This place will be my new weekly go to. I was craving some poke after work and wanted to try something new. I found this place nearby and ordered online to have it ready for pick up. It stated that it would be ready in 15 minutes, but I got a notification stating that they finished the order within a few minutes to my surprise. The bowl was delicious and refreshing, especially with the wasabi aioli. The 3 scoops of fish did not seem like much though compared to other places, especially for the quality and price. I do wish that the tuna and salmon fish were more flavorful because it was very light, but it was definitely due to the fish they used. If I based my review solely on food it would have been a 5 star review. My boyfriend and I are from Seattle and were both craving poke before our flight home. We were helped by the younger employee working. We each both got a regular bowl. As we finished up creating our bowls, the older lady came out and was the one who rang us up. As we were paying, the older lady started coaching the other employee that you're only supposed to scoop a certain amount of fried onion (I asked for fried onions) onto the bowls. It definitely made me feel uncomfortable because she could've at least waited until we left the counter.. she made it seem like a big deal in the way she was coaching the employee. If it was so costly for an extra scoop of fried onion, I wouldn't have minded paying for it. Seeing as though we are from out of town, we probably won't be back but it's sad since the food was actually delicious. read more

Checked out Maka recently for some takeaway - ordering was easy via their website. Even though I was quoted 15 minutes for pickup, the order was done within 7 minutes, so you won't have to wait long if you don't order ahead of time. A lot of the reviews here cite this spot being expensive, but most poke bowls around the area range from $10-$12 anyway so I'm not sure where they are getting their grub. The serving was ample, and the chunks of salmon were super big and thick, which I appreciated. I had the volcano sauce which had a nice kick to it. All the toppings were good - I had corn, edamame, cucumber, masago, mango, cilantro, green onion and fried onions. It was delightful. The only thing I wish was better here was the sushi rice which is just a bit dense and tastes like regular, gummy rice. Otherwise this bowl is pretty solid! Okay.....I've avoided a review because the poke is good. Been there at least 6 times since we moved to LF. Some items I don't prefer, crab mix had no flavor but mayonnaise. But overall not bad as far as freshness. I can't avoid anymore. The owner lady is a nightmare. She stresses me out how she yells and treats her employees. So uncomfortable as a customer, I can only imagine how they feel. She is rude and unfair to all, customers and employees. The turnover is insane! Have not seen the same employee twice, can't say I blame them. Lady, you should not be in a customer service environment. Fresh, always!! Wherever they get their seafood has to be a secret because no other Poke place compares! The portion is perfectly paired to the price and quality. If you want Claim Jumper size and you cover the taste with wasabi and soy sauce, go somewhere else. I was in the hospital for two weeks and this was my first Poke stop after getting out today. Finally got to try out this place during the takeout/delivery time. First thing I noticed when I came in to pick up my order was the service. Easily the friendliest poke place around the area. All smiles even though they were only able to offer takeout and delivery! They have all the usual suspects when it comes to bases, proteins, and toppings. They also offer a pre-cooked option, which is nice. Two toppings they have that other local places don't are sweet corn and mango. Overall, ingredients are fresh, and service is really friendly. Bad service. Not the first time but I have always tolerated them since the location is close to my home. Did curb-side pickup, arrived, parked right in front and called the store. While on the phone talking to the lady, I tried to ask for more wasabi, she made no attempt to listen and hung up the phone while I was still talking. This is rude thing to do to anyone let alone to a paying customer. The Korean lady then brings my order and I asked politely for more wasabi, with a cranky face, she went back in to get it. When she came back out and handed me the extra wasabi, she shouts, next time you need to put that request in the comment section [on your order]. I'm thinking, I'm sorry you had to make an extra trip (mind you it was a total of 20 feet round-trip) how about listening and not hanging up on people next time. Food quality isn't great. They also use the same bowl for all sizes so if you add extra scopes of protein... to make the container work, they remove some of the rice. Having ordered and eaten the food in daylight I now have a better assessment of the quantity of food I received, and my observation is that the quantity of nutritional ingredients one gets is more or less equal to or worse than ordering poke at California Fish Grill or somewhere else that does not exclusively sell poke, particularly because additional portions of toppings are upcharges. For a similar price I could get more volume of fish at Oke Poke even on a bad day when they skimp on ingredients. This also accounts for the shape of the bowl. I might only come here in the future if I have to run an errand in this plaza and don't want the additional mileage. I need more nutritional ingredients and less filler. read more

Everything was really fresh, it was interesting to see that they did a different process for adding the sauces than normal poke places! They add sauce after rather than mixing it all in with protein, surprisingly this turned out really well! After not coming to this place for like 9 months hoping the manager/owner had gotten her attitude towards her employees in check sadly today I walked in and walked out! The way she treats her employees is awful and in front of customers, I can only imagine what she treats them behind closed doors! I'm sure this woman had children or Grandchildren, would she want her family treated the way she treats her employees? I hope someone in her family reads this and chats with her. Great food! The owner is particular about setting up bowls to look nice so she helps new employees learn presentation. Our favorite poke place because the quality is great and they use big shrimp instead of canned like other poke spots. The sizes of protein scoops are similar to what you get at other places. Some reviews state the portion sizes are small but have pictures showing a partially eaten bowl. They will give you extra of items & toppings (some free some for an extra charge). I think people are upset because this was one of the only places that didn't charge extra for extra crab. They did have to increase prices a small amount in 2022 and started charging for extra crab salad. Every other poke place I've been charges extra for anything you ask for more of. If you want a lot of food and protein pay for a big bowl. Sure you can pay a little less at poke down the hill, and get baby canned shrimp instead of quality but you get what you pay for. This place is worth it and never smells of rotten fish like other local poke. If you are one of the folks who order from places only to cancel and ask for a refund because you couldn't pick it up YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF! Good Poke place in Foothill Ranch. They were out of spicy tuna when I went. They also do not have as many condiments and additions as your traditional Poke place.
