They mix the sauces and items together, separate from the base items, which is interesting. They had me at free guac lol Pricing is pretty standard. You can get a regular bowl for $15+, which gets you 3 scoops of protein. I like how they have a kid option with just 1 scoop for $11+, but you can add another scoop for $2. So gives you a range. It was lunch, so grabbed a kid bowl with white rice and salad for the base. Scoop of salmon. Crab meat, guac included. Standard sauce. Not as many toppings as other places, but they've got the basics. Edamame, masago, ginger, wasabi, nori, onion, cucumber. I decided to come here after reading all the 5 star Yelp reviews (and Poke Wave has appeared in the Top 100 restaurants on Yelp a few years back) and I'm happy to say that Poke Wave lived up to the hype and was delicious! You can choose either a regular bowl (3 scoops of protein and add on an extra scoop for $2) or a Kids bowl. They have many selections for the base: white rice, brown rice, salad, chips or 1/2 and 1/2. They offer tons of yummy add ins and toppings. I like how they give you avocado for free while other places don't. All of the fish was good quality and fresh. I recommend their "Medium" sauce which is a mix of ponzu, eel sauce, sesame oil and spicy mayo. It was delicious! Service was super friendly and efficient. Local gem nested in the plaza across from Mission Viejo city hall. Menu was very straightforward: $15.95 for 3 scoops of poke. The topping offering were very standard to what you would expect and size of the bowl was also pretty standard (just enough for a meal)! They gave a good amount of fish which I appreciate. My only complaint is that I wish the fish was more cold and that there was more sauce.... Otherwise very solid poke spot! The staff were also very friendly and patient. Wanted to try out a new poke spot and found Poke Wave! Upon entering, it feels a bit dark and narrow inside. The menu is written on the side and behind the workers so you have time to decide before ordering. They offer the standard toppings. Crab meat and avocado are included. I like how the avocado is actual avocado and not that store bought avocado mix that some places offer. If you're easily overwhelmed by too many sauce options, they keep it easy and simple as you only have to pick your spice level. I did see them put a lot of sauce on my bowl however I may need to ask for extra sauce (even though it's extra) because by the time I went to eat my bowl it had already absorbed so it wasn't as saucy as I prefer. I had the tamago, salmon, and tuna. Tasty and fresh. I had a bit of a hard time eating the bowl because the bowl they use is on the smaller side. The portion itself is still the same as other places but it is really packed in the bowl so I had a hard time portioning my fish to rice ratio to avoid the food falling out of my bowl. Would be no issue if I ate this at home and poured it into a bigger bowl. I would come back! Great pricing, tasty food, plenty of parking, and friendly workers. read more

Came here for lunch, and the poke was solid, but nothing extraordinarily special. The base, fish, and toppings were pretty standard. The regular bowl is $15.75 for a choice of 3 proteins. I got a mixed salad with the salmon, tuna, and albacore. One of the salmon pieces was really large, but the other fish pieces were pretty small. The salmon was my fave - super soft. The tuna and albacore were also pretty soft/fresh. The amount of fish for the poke bowl was pretty good. I got all the complimentary add ons (crab meat, avocado, onions, cucumbers) and some toppings (furikake, ginger, edamame). I got the non-spicy sauce. It would be nice to have seaweed salad as an add on option. Overall size of the bowl was standard, not very large, but enough for lunch. read more

Super simple no frills place! I had been a bit hesitant to try this place out because a few of the recent reviews commented that they are stingy with the fish and the toppings but I did not have that experience at all. My friend and I both got the poke bowl w 3 scoops and the workers were so generous especially in the heaping scoops of fish they gave us. I visited PokéWave around 4:30 pm on a Thursday. There was no line at all, & they had plenty of seating both inside & outside. The two employees who helped us were super friendly & accommodating. I ordered a kids bowl for myself, & my mom got a regular bowl--everything was delicious! I think that the kids bowl is the perfect size--just enough if you want something satisfying but not too big. I paid about $37 for both bowls with tip. I've been coming to Poke Wave for years, & I miss the complimentary miso soup, but I get it since prices have been going up. I love that they're right next to Menchie's, so you can grab a sweet treat after your meal. I also appreciate how close they are to the library--perfect for picking up dinner after a day of studying. Excited to find a poke place close to my new house. I have been searching for good food spots after moving a few cities away, and glad I found a great poke place. We were enthusiastically greeted by a couple of friendly employees, I let them know it was our first time and that I was looking for a good poke spot and they were excited to have us try them out. It was refreshing to have great interaction with employees who put our bowls together, and they really gave such a great vibe even before we tried our food. Lots of great options for our bowls, and next time I'll go with spicy, the medium didn't have much spice at all to me, so I'll not be so worried about spice next time and ramp it up. Fish tasted fresh, great portions, and even a fun cream cheese topping I haven't seen at other poke spots. The bowl looks deceivingly small, I dumped it into a large bowl at home so I could go at it better, and it was huge, I had to save some for later. Love that they gave a jasmine rice option as well! Place was super tiny, but clean and there was spots for us to sit and eat there if we wanted, but we were doing this to-go. I'll be back for sure, and soon. I was in the area trying to grab a quick bite before a community service event nearby. Since I was already dropping by CVS in this plaza, Poke Wave was a proximity visit. The reviews and rating on Yelp looked good so I decided to give it a try. The interior seems really dated and the choices are limited compared to other poke businesses. Service was slow and frazzled. They only have a Kids Bowl ($9.95) that comes with only 1 scoop of protein or the Poke Bowl ($14.95) with 3 scoops of protein. I went for the 3 scoops. For my base, I went with half mixed greens and half brown rice to be relatively healthy but still filling. Then for the add on, I added the crab meat and avocado. No additional charge for avocado is nice. For the main protein portion, I opted for all salmon because the tuna, and albacore looked like poor quality. And with sauce they asked me if I wanted not spicy, medium or spicy. I'm like ughhh I want half ponzo half spicy mayo. I don't know what they normally do with the sauces but that's really unclear on whats in their default sauce. For the toppings I asked for the garlic chips. There is also a complimentary miso soup if you would like it. The bowl was about average, but I didn't feel satisfied. It was one of those lacking meals where you feel like you need to go eat a better version after. Not impressed. read more

$17 sushi bowl. It's definitely not cheap. This place is always, I mean always, out of avocado. I'm a regular weekly customer, but tonight really upset me. Avocado is my favorite ingredient in these bowls. They were out again. Generally, the friendly guys who work there will give me extra artificial crab, which costs about 10 cents, to make up for no avocado. This guy tonight refused and told me that would be an extra charge. That made me angry . I won't be going back. It's not worth it. read more

What an unexpected surprise to find Poke Wave! Upon entering, the interior actually is quite uninviting as it's very dated, dark, and furnishings are unappealing. But they do say to not judge a book by its cover, and in this case I relied on the 4.5 star Yelp review to give this place a shot. The menu is typical - start with a base, select your proteins, and a number of other toppings. Their sauce selection is different from all other poke places. You choose from no spicy, less spicy and more spicy. You ask what that means - basically it's ponzu, soy sauce and sesame oil then add in some variation of spicy. I am a non spicy poke person, and I quite liked the sauce. In fact I loved it! While it was nice that avocado was not an additional topping cost, it was strange that tamago does cost extra as a protein (not usual in the Bay area and almost any other Poke place I've been to!) For the great taste (sauce and fresh ingredients) at $14.95 a bowl, this was a solid 4 stars (1 extra star if they can spruce up the interior. read more

The only poke we'll eat! Wish they were open on Sundays! Poke is always so fresh and amazing. The only time I'd ever complain is one time I ordered online and did not receive all the toppings, and the portions looked really small... so I never order online anymore lol. But we get takeout here about once a week, order in person- they build it right in front of you. There's also pretty nice outdoor seating. Definitely recommend this place! read more

It's only 6:45pm, they are supposed to be open until 8pm and they are out of all three kinds of rice, out of avocado, and out of spicy tuna! Last I checked you can make rice 20 minutes. Great Hidden Gem! Small spot, kind of a hole in the wall, but the food is solid. Good quality fish, and I liked that they mix the protein with the sauces before adding it to your bowl--it gives it great flavor. Friendly staff. We ordered poke bowls - mine was half jasmine rice & half mixed green, avocado, spicy tuna, tuna, and salmon topped with scallion, masago, furikake, edamame, ginger, and spicy sauce level. I wish I ordered the crispy onions on top too but only saw them afterwards. My poke bowl was pretty good, but I wish they put more sauce and had seaweed salad as an option. I also thought it was on the pricier side but at least it came with a good miso soup. Not sure if I'd come here again since I want to try other poke places in the area to have a better comparison.
