While on Hawaii vacation, at 6 months pregnant, I signed up for an 80 minute prenatal massage with Richelle. This was my first massage while pregnant and I was a little apprehensive about the process because we shouldn't be in a horizontal position too long. Richelle put my mind at ease immediately. The bed is specially made for preggo's and was so comfortable both while lying on my belly and on my back. It is made to allow the belly to be supported and your weight does not push into your stomach at all. I was so comfortable and able to enjoy the massage instead of wondering how little guy was doing in there. 20 minutes into the massage, I was mentally clearing plans so I could come back for another one. Richelle found all the tender bits that come alone with pregnancy and massaged these areas with conscious precision, as to not cause discomfort but to alleviate tension. What a professional. I was very tense before I came to this place, especially in my neck/shoulder area because I just had shoulder surgery not too long ago. I always tense up in that area because I have to make sure my arm is at a certain angle. So, when I came here, one of the ladies worked that area out and it feels so much better than before. I've never had this great of a massage, maybe it's a Maui thing. The pressure was great too. The staff is very friendly and talkative which is great. After getting a massage here I realized how much better it was than the place I go to in my hometown. If we come here again sometime I will definitely be getting another massage from here! After telling my husband about the horrible experience I had at another massage place, he was able to get a massage here on my next-to-last day on Maui. I had previously tried to make an appointment but they were fully booked; luckily for me, there was a last-minute cancellation. We stayed at the Napili Kai, so it was just a short walk from our hotel room to this place. It was blissfully cool and quiet inside. The room was small but very neat and clean. Relaxing Hawaiian music played on a small, hidden speaker. The masseur, Joel, introduced himself and he asked a few questions about problem spots and what kind of massage and pressure I would like. He seemed like such a calm, centered dude. Already, my experience was SO much better than my massage experience at another place the previous day. Joel is trained and certified in massage and he was very methodical and exacting in his massage process. He was very quiet so I could relax into the massage, but he also readily answered my questions. He applied even pressure on problem spots on my lower back and shoulders, kneading them to loosen the muscles. It all felt very good -- I could feel the long-held tension in those muscles FINALLY starting to ease. Afterwards, he gave me a glass of water to drink to help flush out toxins released during the massage and to help ease soreness. I can't recommend Joel and Makai Massage more highly. Be sure to make an appointment at least a week, if not more, in advance. There's a reason why they're so busy! read more

Reserved an appointment for myself and my sis, we were right next door at Coconut Grove. We both had deep massages, slightly more expensive but worth it. Due to COVID, my monthly therapeutic massages had been reduced to none for the last 10 months, so mega tight. My therapist noticed how tight I was, and focused on upper body, neck and back...she said my back was a lava rock, yeah I get it, I'm tight! She kept working my traps and neck, really hard to get out the knots, I was pretty sore the next day, but it was worth it. She said even used hot rocks to ease my tight muscles. Sis's therapy went well as she gives them thumbs up. They are located in the Napili Kai resort grounds, a small studio located in the back of the resort, but worth the visit. My mother and I had back to back facials with Heidi and this place is small (only two rooms, one for facials and one for massages) but mighty! My mom got the classic Epicuren facial and I got the deep cleansing Aveda facial. Unfortunately, they do not currently do extractions due to COVID, so keep that in mind. All COVID precautions were taken seriously and enforced. I was able to book with the owner Susan, who was friendly and polite during our interaction. I reached out two days in advance and was able to book my desired appointment times no problem. Sweet place, professional, and I'd be willing to go back to try their massages as well. We stay at Napili Kai every year -- and every year I have a massage at Makai (I used to go to the Montage, but the prices went through the roof and the therapists are sometimes great and sometimes just okay). This trip I had a FABULOUS massage (80 glorious minutes) with Titi. She was amazing! I carry my stress in my shoulders and upper back -- Titi worked all of that out and I had THE BEST therapeutic, deep tissue massage. I know it is the best I have had because I wasn't in any residual pain the next day. Just more flexible and shoulders were released. Titi is attentive, kind, expert in massage skills and insightful as to your needs. HIGHLY RECOMMEND MAKAI AND TITI! Since I am staying at Napili Kai resort, I decided to book a massage for 9am on a Friday. The place is small -- only two small rooms but they do offer cabana massages for couples and massage under the stars. The person responsible for placing me under the "couple" description does not enjoy massages and will not humor me with one (which is fine, I've known and accepted years ago) so... I went on a solo massage. Lani was my therapist and she was nice. She met me outside where I waited, greeted me and took me to one of their massage rooms. She explained what I needed to do (take off clothes, jewelry, etc) and gave me some privacy. She then came back less than 5 minutes later and started the massage with some healing energy and then started my hot stone massage. The hot stones added such wonderful sensations to my relaxing massage and was nothing I've felt before. It was definitely nice even for the added price of $30. I did a 50-minute massage but Lani went slightly over since their hot stones were a little bit on the fritz. After my massage, she gave me a small cup of cucumber water which was refreshing! After tip, my massage was about $175 but it was nice and relaxing and made for a great start to my morning! Why did I take off a star? When I called for my appointment, I had specifically added a coconut cream treatment but I don't think whoever made my appointment make any notes of it and was therefore, forgotten. I wasn't charged for it and I completely neglected to mention it to my therapist before we began so the extra I had asked for was not administered. Overall, I still had a nice time. read more
