From the perspective of a lifetime Hilton loyalist who has stayed in many Hilton Garden Inns in my…read moretime, this is better than most. It has all of the requisite HGI necessities such as clean, standardized rooms, available breakfast made to order, and a price point that does not break the bank compared to big resorts on Kaua'i. I had a comfortable stay here with easy parking, a comfortable room, and good wi-fi. It doesn't hurt that you can see the ocean from some rooms and that the property grounds have some unexpected nice touches such as a koi pond water feature, a spacious airy lobby open to the outside, and easy self parking for a fee. In this genre of Hilton portfolio hotel, it hits a bit above its expected weight. What keeps it in the 4-star range (instead of 5) is its location. It is relatively near Lihue and the airport (about a 12-15 min drive) but far from any of the major resort spots that Kaua'i is really known for (like Poipu or Princeville). Its location is just a couple of minutes drive outside of Kapa'a and if you are not looking for a high end vacation resort experience, this will suffice as a place to lay your head with confidence while helping you respect a moderate budget. It is not cheap by most HGI standards but it is reasonable by local Kaua'i lodging standards. A rental car is a must if you choose to stay here because there really is nothing around you within easy or safe walking distance. That is a problem if you are here to be a tourist and see some sights and places that The Garden Isle is known for. It is this location that keeps the pricing here down but the inconvenience factor high. I liked this property for what it was and I would stay here again if my reason for coming to Kaua'i was for anything other than a higher end resort experience. I'm sure there are even cheaper places to stay on this island but then again, I don't think that the Salvation Army has a loyalty program or a koi pond.

We were locked out of our room (cottage 3121) for forty five minutes yesterday, because the battery to the outside door lock died. Then, later that evening, we had to call maintenance again because the inside lock is broken. 4/30/26: we decided the price was not worth this crap hole. When we went to check out and cancel our week reservation, they didn't even try to remedy any situation. We are Diamond Hilton member's and there are pretty much zero perks for us loyal customers. Still had to pay $25 a day for parking! Like....come on. Pro: bed was comfy We ended up booking a airbnb instead. So we'll be paying a little more for our trip, but its worth it. I would seriously avoid this property if you can. But if you are on a budget, it might be okay. Make sure to look at all of the reviews!!!!

However, due to a last minute flight deal, I was unable to get into a resort I wanted due to lack of rooms and high prices. I thought a condo with a kitchen was an OK compromise, but I was REALLY worried about choosing this place because AFTER I paid for the nonrefundable room, I read many poor reviews. The day before arrival I received an email with my check in information. There was no mention of having to check in at a different location like others mentioned. I worried about not "officially" checking in anywhere, but no one called or came to the unit so...? 219 had a portable window air conditioner, which I was thankful for. Even in November the temp reached 85 each day with near 90% humidity. It wasn't quite enough to cool the bedroom the way I wanted, but it made it bearable. Like others said, the unit was not sparkly clean like one would expect when paying such an exorbitant cleaning fee. It was good enough though, and nothing made be feel grossed out. We also had a washer and dryer, but it had a small load capacity and they only gave us 5 laundry pods. That felt pretty cheap. There were plenty of dishes, towels, toilet paper, etc, and they were clean. Others mentioned the "second bedroom" and the crappy sofa bed, and I have to agree that they could really up this place by replacing it with a real bed. Particularly because not only is the AC in the same room (and not able to be moved, so it was the coolest room), but because there is no TV in the bedroom. We attempted to use the sofa bed and gave up because it was awful. Beach access: No, there is none directly from the property, but there is a gate the leads immediately to the adjacent (and really nice looking) property next door. The beach is not suitable for swimming, but like I said about the last place I stayed, there are so many other beaches on the island that you cant really complain. Plus, no swimming equals very few people. My biggest concern, and only gripe, was that on our first morning a man just WALKED into the unit. We were both in bed and, alarmed, I yelled, "Excuse me!!!" He said sorry and quickly backed out. Our door was shut and locked, and so I called Vacasa. The guy seemed totally uninterested and I don't even know if anyone came to look at the lock, but we regularly checked it when leaving after that it was always secure. All in all I would stay again. Four nights cost just under $900 and having the full kitchen enabled us to skip paying for breakfasts, dinners, and snacks, so that was a great way to save. I would stay here again if I were looking for a budget place. Oh, and last but not least: we were in the building closest to the road and didn't hear any traffic at all. Maybe it's because we had the hum of the AC.

They just encourage you to tip the valet every time. The rooms were spacious and clean. The lanai (balcony) was great also. We stayed on the 2nd floor and my kids would sit and eat outside thanks to the amazing Kauai weather. I like the filtered water dispenser machines throughout the property. We didn't have to buy water because we re-used the water bottles they gave us. There's a restaurant on the property that we did not get to try. The hotel is located on the beach also. Too bad the waves were too rough so we did not go in the water there. There are 2 pools and 1 hot tub. You can also rent free bikes to bike around the property. The front desk person said there's a bike trail we can bike for a few miles. This hotel is only about 10 min from Lihue Airport also.

They even have a free text message program where you just click on the link to retrieve your car, they will get it for you while you are walking to the valet circle. Reduces time and inefficiency, great perk!! HOTEL: It is not a part of a larger hotel chain or corporation. The buildings are old and retrofitted, but honestly I am picky with hotels, and this place is great. It is on the beach, maybe not a good idea to go for a swim on that shoreline, but just being so close to the ocean is wonderful. Each room has a quiet AC unit, and a ceiling fan. They offer Kauai Coffee K-Cups to use in the Keurig in your room. Includes disposable hot cups, little creamer cups, and sugars. All rooms have mini fridges. They have a handful of kitchenette rooms if you needed a sink, bigger fridge, and microwave. All rooms have a lanai, the 1st floors have a lanai that leads directly to the lawn or pool area outside your building. There are 2 pools, 1 hot tub, and fire pit, lawn games, and beach cruiser bikes you can borrow (for free!!) to cruise around by the hotel. There are free filtered water stations around the property. There is even a free photo booth in the corner of the lobby, and it prints out 2 strips of 3 photos, so retro! The Lava Lava Restaurant is on site, and a good option. NEARBY: The hotel is also located next to Coconut Marketplace which includes a large general store (it's the same company as ABC stores) but they also have prepared foods, coffee bar, and smoothie bar. There are also restaurants over there to choose from, and small shops to browse. Just past that shopping center, there is also a Long's Drugs (aka: CVS) if you want to go for a long stroll.

After a failed attempt at staying at a different property on Poipu that turned out to be ant…read moreinfested (ants were literally crawling all over the bed, walls, floors and shower), my wife found Aston Islander available for a VERY last min booking on the same day at a reasonable rate. Check-in took awhile, but the front desk people were super friendly and provided us a complimentary bottle of wine when they heard that we were staying for our honeymoon. Daily housekeeping is apparently not offered, but we did ask that fresh towels be provided daily. This request was hit or miss, and we often found ourselves needing to go to the front desk to ask for a change in towels the next day. The room itself is surprisingly spacious and clean, although older and dated. It was quite amazing to wake up to the sight of the beautiful Pacific Ocean right outside our patio window every morning. Although the waters on this side of the island were not protected and too rough for us to think about jumping into the ocean safely. We were told that seals and sea turtles would occasionally make their way onto the beach, however this was apparently more of a rare sighting and never materialized during our stay. We actually just wound up going to Poipu most evenings to see the sea turtles come in to rest on the beach. There is a DVD machine near the front desk where you can rent movies for free. And a Playstation in the room to watch the DVD's with. However, the dual shock controller definitely had taken a lot of abuse and would just rumble randomly whenever the power was turned on. And most of the buttons either did not work or would only work sporadically. There are no elevators here, despite the various buildings being at least 3 stories tall. We wound up having a 2nd floor room and found ourselves hauling all of our heavy luggage up multiple flights of stairs. If you are elderly or disabled, you should definitely request a 1st floor room. Additionally, they do not have any real lighting on the outdoor common areas that connect the rooms with the front foyer. Instead, there are just the small, garden solar lights stuck into the ground along the paved path. This is honestly quite a safety issue as the area is literally pitch black at night as you're either leaving the property or coming back. With only the small lights on the floor to guide your way while you hope you don't trip over any cracks or unseen objects. The hotel has a large, private parking lot that is shared with the nearby businesses on the same property lot. However despite the large amount of parking spots, we constantly found ourselves needing to circle the lot looking for a free spot whenever we returned back later at night. We suspect that some locals may be using their parking lot for temporary/long-term parking, as we did see a few vehicles that had multiple tickets on the windshield during our stay with warnings of towing due to abandonment. Despite the tickets/warnings, we did not see any of these vehicles actually towed during our entire stay here. Despite the issues outlined above, we did overall enjoy our stay here. And would recommend this property if you're looking for a slightly more affordable option than many of the high-end resorts that dot this island.

Overall, I'd give my experience a solid three stars. First off, the staff was wonderful. Peggy at the front desk was the sweetest and made us feel right at home. The hotel grounds were stunning, with a beautiful pool area and lush surroundings. And those chickens? They were everywhere! A fun surprise for a first-timer like me. We had a garden-facing room on the third floor that still offered a decent ocean view. The room was a bit dated, but I loved having a little kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, and sink. Plus, the DVD rental in the lobby was a nice touch since every room has a DVD player. There were a few surprises, like no elevator, so lugging our bags up three flights was a workout. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, but we got two free drink tickets for the Tiki Bar, which made the wait more enjoyable. However, the Wi-Fi in our room was spotty, and there wasn't much help available. Luckily, I managed to hop onto the neighbor's Wi-Fi to stream Netflix, though the local TV never worked, which was a bit of a bummer. The early morning rooster calls were definitely new for me, but I came to appreciate them as part of the island charm. Parking was tricky if we got back late, but on the bright side, the location was fantastic. We could walk to the Coconut Marketplace, and the vouchers and coupons we received were a nice perk. Overall, despite some hiccups, the beautiful island setting and friendly service made my stay memorable.
