This place charges $35 for a retest, and will go through the entire test even if they know it will fail ahead of time.

Horrible place! Total rip off. Charging more than twice what other companies do for a smog. Does lot do good service either.

If you need an honest, knowledgeable, and fairly priced auto repair shop near Gold River or Rancho Cordova, I'd definitely recommend them. They've worked on my 2017 Ford Transit Connect, 2014 Mercedes GL63, and 2014 BMW X5. They replaced a driver-side CV axle, did oil changes, replaced brake pads and rotors, diagnosed and fixed an A/C and heater blower issue, repaired a trunk/liftgate problem, and also replaced a valve cover and gasket and battery. What stood out to me most was how knowledgeable, honest, and fair Samson and his team were throughout the process. The staff are friendly, the front desk is welcoming, and the customer service has been great. It's hard to find a shop that does quality work at reasonable prices, but 916 Auto Repair has done that for me. Definitely recommended.

I contacted 916 Auto after doing a 2 and half week research (which included Yelp and Google…read moreReviews) to have my 2004 Mazda 3 AC Condenser (Factory OEM) replaced. My AC Drier was cracked and inoperable since last year. In this region of the Sacramento Valley and Placer County, 916 Auto quote beat 5 shops I contacted in the region and 1 shop even told me it's not worth it and I should get a new car. Bet if my car was a 69 Camaro, they'd do it. Why? Cause its a Classic Camaro. No matter the condition. Some shops don't want to work on Imports. But oh well. Their loss, not mine. I contacted 916 Auto and spoke to Samson to schedule an appointment and he said to come by that very same day. And so I drove from Roseville to Gold River that morning. Samson is honest & to the point. When he pulled my car in, he noticed a coolant leak. Now I didn't notice any leaks in my driveway, as it would seem the Coolant is evaporating or dissipating, but he notice it was getting on my Alternator, by the stains. It turns out, my OEM water pump (factory part since 2003 for this model year in 2004) finally gave out at 262K miles. Who'd ever think a Mazda/Ford part would last this long. This was an unexpected thought as I only had budgeted for the quote. So I called my CFO (Wife) and let her know of the issue. She said get it fixed and she'll adjust other expenses as she knows I need AC for the upcoming summer temps. So I authorized Samson to proceed with the entire job. Now I can't couldn't do any price comparison, but he did give me a discount which still fit in my overall budget. I spent my whole day in their lobby. They have updated their lobby to make it feel more comfortable and less Auto Shop feel. I notice the many people who drop by to have their car service are all happy and are returning customers. From a Dealership oil drain plug that was torqued too tight, to oil changes, brakes, and even a customer who was a bit upset where the Dealership sent the wrong part twice. The Dealership. I spoke to many of them and they all had the same answer when I ask. "What made you come here?" They replied, "Their price can't be beat!". In summary, my AC is now working as it should. Now I only used my AC for 2 whole days It gets cold and it has been awhile since I have felt cold in my aging car of 22 years. With my new water pump installed as well, my car is running smoother overall. Smoother shifts, heater gets warm fast. Almost, now almost like it was in 2004. So, Did I find a new shop for my Project Commuter Car? Yes I sure did. They have gotten a new customer. Up next is my Transmission Gasket & plug. One thing at a time! Have fun out there & do your research!

I can see that there are a lot of positive postings for this shop. But, my experience with them was…read morevery different. I brought my car in because the air conditioner was no longer providing cooling. The car was run through "diagnostics" and it was determined that the needed repairs could cost up to $6,000, which was the value of the car. This shop then referred me to another shop that was "more capable of doing the repairs." The second shop also quoted up to $6,000 for the repair work. So, I took the car to a BMW dealer, and they fixed it for roughly $200. Most of the issues that this shop said were the cause of a lack of cooling did not exist, according to the BMW mechanic. As a twenty-something-year-old female that doesn't know much about cars, I feel like I was being taken advantage of...by both shops. It feels like there was collusion happening, and I'm glad that I did not agree to have the car repaired by either shop. I will not be returning, and I caution everyone who is checking on them to be leery.

Stress Free had to bleed the lines and steam clean my engine after replacement. I had to have the car towed by AAA 48 hours after replacement because fluid had leaked all over the engine and garage floor. I had already taken the car back to Stress Free with an issue after the replacement. See pictures and listen to the noise the car was making 48 hours after replacement. Less than a week later, the car went into limp mode when I was driving home from school and had to be taken to Folsom Lake Honda. Car had no issues until I took it to Stress Free for power steering replacement. Not only did I refuse to bring my car back to Stress Free to fix it after giving them 3 chances including install to get it right. Their corporate office has not responded to the letter I sent them via certified mail; yet I have documentation they received the letter. I would steer clear of this place for any service. If I didn't have a full time job plus college classes, I would take them to small claims court and or file a claim with the Bureau of Automotive Repair.
