Go elsewhere. They don't know what they are doing. Wouldn't trust my car with them for smog or repairs. I took my car here. Was a customer, even if they want to deny it on yelp... and they refused to do work on my car due to its age. The shop was completely empty and I had to wait for nothing. My vehicle left their shop broken. There are better and more honest shops in Carmichael than master tech. I took my repairs elsewhere and got much better service. read more

My '09 Accord has almost 250,000 miles on it and runs strong. Check engine light came on months ago. I took it to my local Honda dealer service department and they ran their diagnostic (almost $200). They told me I needed a new catalytic converter and O2 sensor for around $4000. With Christmas coming, we couldn't throw $4000 at a car with a quarter million miles on it, with zero guarantee it would pass smog even after spending all that money. I prayed, then searched the web and found Master Tech. Brian at Master Tech ran their diagnostic ($160) and said I was almost 2 quarts low on oil, had a radiator leak, and an air hose was cracked and I needed to replace the hose and air filter to get an accurate reading about the cat converter. $180 parts and labor later, the check engine light was off and the cat was within acceptable range. Took it to a Star smog station right then and passed smog. Including the smog check and the certificate, I'm approximately $405 all in, when the dealer said $4000+. The whole day felt like a real "God" thing. He put this place in our path when I prayed and did that web search. Their name kinda says it all, "Master Tech." These guys are great at what they do. I was browsing around for cheap price for my smog certificate and found this little spot on yelp, first time here, reasonable price with fast service and Fast respond from the owner! I was there 15 minutes no wait or whatsoever, they have a little waiting area with tv and Great Wall decor from different states (that's awesome). Thinking about getting my brake service I think I will go back, they are a little busy today to check my break. (I am now looking for a trusted shop to do it). 3rd time brought vehicles in. Extremely happy with work done. Had oil change done on 2014 Accord LX. Didn't know that they can change out spark plugs too. I asked and it was added on. Accord runs super smooth now. Great family run business. Highly recommended! Not going back to Auto Lube Express in Elk Grove. Those guys annoyingly try to up sell me on everything. I ended up at Master Tech instead of my usual smog place for obvious reasons "Price". I was looking through my trusty Yelp app looking for yelp deal for smogs and saw Master Tech is offering $25 smogs before certification price. I couldn't pass that deal up plus reading many of the positive reviews from reliable yelpers, how could I pass this up? At my Normal place I go to I pay $45 for my smog before Certification fee's and electronic fee to DMV. I walk in and it's a packed house is this place major good sign. I was helped by the owners wife, I forgot her name but she's really nice and professional and I love her little Yorkie, Bailey. Silly me I forgot my DMV registration, which I never forget and she was able to pull up my information from my Insurance... yay! I would have hated to have had to drive all the way back home...lol! I filled out some paperwork, asked how would I like to pay and told it would be about a 15-20 min wait. Less than 8 mins later, yes I was counting the minutes my car is finished and passed! I pay and and off I go. This is probably one of the friendliest smog places I've been to the staff isn't dry or rush you in any way. I'd definitely come here again for my smog. I was having trouble passing smog on my 2007 Hyundai Santa fe and needed a complete diagnostic in order to take it to Smog Referee since they no longer make a Catalytic convert for that year and I can not find a replacement anywhere. They spent more time trying to see I if they could fix the problem which they did not really need to do. GREAT guest service! I will definitely be coming here with all my cars in the future! This place deserves a zero star. I had an appointment for over a week. I dropped my car off at 8:30am. 4 hours later, they hadn't even touched my car for an oil change and smog. The mechanic argued with me saying he never said how long it would take. I would never recommend this place. The ladies in the office are kind. The mechanic has sh*t for brains and has horrible customer service skills. I wouldn't trust him with my car for a second. Your reply is unjustified. You held my vehicle hostage for 4 hours. I have a 2004 Chevy Canyon truck with many problems. I am old can't remember mechanics name (sorry) he bent over backwards to fix everything that was wrong, some of it was not sensible to repair, he even fabricated a part he could no longer get (WOW). They are friendly, professional, and through, could not have picked a better place.
