We took our Cadillac Escalade to this business to get fixed. We were told it was the fuel pump... So he charged us around $700... 1 1/2 yrs ago. Truck started giving us issues again... We took it to a new shop... Who told us the fuel pump needs to be replaced. We called this business which put in the pump..to see if there was a warranty. He said "No, I bought it online... And if u bring it back, I will give u a deal on labor." This guy needs to have his license pulled. He is ripping off the public... And wants to replace the same item again with no guarantee that this won't happen again. We will never ever give this guy our business again. Please take your cars else where... He's stealing $$. We will be reporting him to the Better Business Bureau. We will be asking for an investigation! read more

I have been going to Hai "hi" for over 10+ years now and the one thing that always brings me back is..... honesty. It is so rare these days to not be taken advantaged of by car repair shops. I do a lot of my own car repairs, but anything that is more advanced I take to to Beta Smog and Tune. The location is kind of hidden, the building seems to be a bit old, but the service has been great! My wife recently had failed a smog test and the shop she was at told her that they could fix that for about $350.00 which would consists of a tune up. Those types to shops are always a bit skectchy for my taste. How do you give someone an estimate when they haven't investigated the probelm? I told my wife to take it to Beta Smog. Upon Hai investigating the problem, he discovered that one of the spark plugs was fouled up and seized up. He warned us that if he trys to remove it and it breaks, it would involve us purchasing a new head and it could be over $2000.00 to fix. He assured me that he would do everything he posssibly could to prevent that. I drop the car off and two hours later, he informed me of the good news. He was able to remove the plug. Now, you might say well anyone can remove a plug but, he could have easily told us that we need to change the head out, but he was honest and only charged us for the repairs needed. That's the great thing about him, he is all about being cost effective. I even inquired about a quote of my accord burning oil. He simply replied that my car is very old and since its not leaking on the ground to always check my levels and make sure I fill it accordingly. He would rather have me not spend money at his shop and give me great advise, to save some money! That's the honestly I have come to expect from Beta Smog. Could you get the repairs done for less, of course you can, but I doubt you will find a more honest mechanic! read more

I started to go to Hai when my other shop got crazy (Tony's Automotive) and closed down. A friend recommended him to me. My daughter first came here to get her car repaired, then her friend and now it was my turn to get things done. Both were very satisfied with the level of respect they got from him and the job he did. I took my car there for break work and tune up. The owner is very nice guy, but they are way too over priced. After he worked on my breaks, it was making squeaky noise after 2 and half weeks, so I took it back for lubrication. He was too proud to admit it needs more lube. He told me it was my shock. Have taken my 2 vehicles that require smog check to Hai for several years, mainly since he is quick, polite, and seems very honest, plus on my route home and can run the STAR test. I am an engineer and do all repairs on my vehicles, including rebuilding engines and transmissions, so can tell who is a competent mechanic. If I ever got filthy rich where I would just pay others to do the work, I would trust Hai. Ignore the bad reviews. Those are obviously from gomers who know nothing about cars or repairs and will be angry about any maintenance. read more

I'm in the automotive repair industry and bring about 20+ cars a year to smog. Been bouncing around from place to place until I found beta smog and tune. The main thing that brings me back is Hai is polite and good customer service. Over the years I've been to over 50 smog shops in Northern California and it seams that now days most shops don't appreciate their customers, get rude, with customers, etc. Over all I like his customers service and like supporting a small business owner over larger business who don't care if they have your business. As a side note I noticed a bad review on here and in response to that review. No automotive business warranties electronic parts past a year. I thought is was more than fair for them to offer a labor discount to replace the part and from the sound of the review they didn't even bring the car back to beta for diagnosis so they were trusting them when they said the pump failed without seeing the car.
