I was so hesitant because I'm usually not your typical posh preppy person but I felt SO welcome and at home here! I slept the best I've ever slept at any hotel, they had amazing tea and an experience beyond any other, truly warm and wonderful staff and amazing food on the ground level. It's the only hotel that has a darker color makeup towel available right on the vanity extra stars for knowing we aren't all white towel white sheet kind of people! I felt so silly for assuming such a nice hotel would judge. They didn't judge one bit. I have to mention that Megan who was at the front desk at the early morning hours while I was wide awake was my favorite human ever. If you are hesitant for any reason to book here, don't hesitate in the future! I felt like any other guest and it was such a wonderful night. I should have stayed all of my nights here! The restaurant is only open Wednesday through Sunday so that is a reason to plan your visit on this days. We were visiting with 2 friends and had cabin 2-3, one the mirror image of the other next door. The cabins are rustic. Isn't that the reason you came. The hot tub worked great. We only did minimal cooking but the facilities were adequate. The view was perfect. the big bed was very comfortable and the well worn recliner chairs were so comfortable you could sleep in them. You visit will not be complete until you walk the incredible trails around the property.

There is a small kitchen that had everything we needed and a cozy livingroom with a beautiful view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. There are Adirondack chairs on the deck and a 4 person hot tub that we enjoyed every day. The picture on the website of this cabin shows different furniture and a pretty fireplace with a mantel. Unfortunately they have a couple worn leather chairs with cracked leather arms and the couch is a hide-a-bed with cushions that were hard to keep in place. They kept working their way out and over the edge of the couch. What I was sad about was they have had to change the fireplace to bring it up to code. Instead of keeping the rustic feel with stone and a pretty mantle, they put up a couple bit shiny pieces of metal and screwed it in. They didn't use long enough screws and it is pulling away from the fireboard behind. It looks like a cheap fix and doesn't fit with the rustic cabin feel. We did enjoy having a fire, however, and they replenished our wood supply, including kindling and paper every day. We were there for a birthday and would have loved to eat at the restaurant there but the menu didn't appeal to us enough to pay the high price of a meal. We loved walking private guest only paths on the property that lead to a beach with a shelter with fireplace and chairs. Another leads over a pretty red bridge that leads to rocks overlooking the wild surf. We were there early May and loved enjoying the flora waking up in the spring. There are a few references to the staff being rude so we decided to tread lightly. Nobody was rude but there was definitely one woman who was curt. The staff in general lacked warmth and were not overly welcoming. But we didn't have any issues that needed addressing. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would go back.

I enjoyed the Pan-Seared Nova Scotia Deep Sea Scallops on a fresh bed of lettuce mix and greens. So definitely a restaurant to try but you'll want to plan staying a night or more given they are on an island off the Vancouver island! Rooms are great also with some placed in cabins with views making you feel like you're in a tree house amongst the pines. Of particular notes, each morning different fresh baked muffins mysteriously appeared outside the suite door . But definitely the breakfast each day was amazing.

The breakfasts provided are not to be missed. The breakfast menu had something for everybody, and the quality of the food and service was outstanding. Even the afternoon appetizer was really good. The service at Abigail's is one of the main reasons we liked it, with the staff seeming willing to do just about anything to accommodate. Not a hotel for kids and pets, but if you like classy and old school, Abigail's is the place.

The very pleasant woman I spoke with (those months before arriving) assured me that our plan should work splendidly, and they looked forward to having us. Upon arrival, we were greeted by two of the nicest front desk people, who took our luggage for storage, then found our room had indeed been cleaned as early as possible and was in fact ready for us for early check in immediately! The property itself is reminiscent of a period of taste and attention to detail that seldom exists any more. Our room was beautiful: spacious, with two separate bathroom sinks and a separate jetted tub and walk-in shower, plus a small sitting area and plenty of space! So nicely appointed with everything in its place, and everything working. The entire lobby and library/lounge area was also beautifully appointed, and so homey and inviting. And breakfast - included with the room - was elaborate and scrumptious. Each day features both sweet and savory options; for example, pancakes, or eggs and bacon. My wife and I got one of each and shared them. It was all delectable. And each day's menu, specially prepared and printed for that day, includes a weather forecast for the day - even with temperatures in both Celsius and Fahrenheit! We had such a wonderful stay that we hated to leave. We'd look forward to visiting Victoria again and would definitely choose Abigail's hotel again!!

For me, it's a 5-star, and this is why: -Charm. This hotel is 115 years old and is built in the quintessential Edwardian architecture of the day. Think Sherlock Holmes movie settings and you get the idea. Lots of woodwork, deep jewel-hued carpets in plum or green, leaded stained glass windows on the stair landings. Very VIctorianesque but less ornate. You get the idea. -Location. This hotel is on Government Street (Victoria's "main drag"), only 4 blocks from the Parliament Buildings, in a residential alcove, a few blocks from Beacon Hill Park. It's a 6-minute walk down Government Street to the inner harbor and the Empress. Literally. -Friendliness and helpfulness of staff. As soon as you enter the hotel to check in, you are met by the NICEST European man who greets you and helps you check in and get acclimated to the hotel and area. Everyone I encountered who worked here was genuinely friendly and wanting to help, in any way they could. The staff here honestly was a throw-back to some prior era, in some "old world" town. -Cleanliness. The hotel and my room was super clean. Unlike other places, I didn't feel I needed to sanitize any areas, or inspect the bed linens with a blue light. And the bathroom was well-stocked too, and all fixtures worked great. (I was a bit skeptical about the tiny old shower, but it surprisingly had great water pressure and got hot). -Price. I did a lot of research before booking this hotel. (I was in town for a wedding and everyone was staying at hotels in the inner harbor proper). This hotel cost WAY less than any other place in the immediate vicinity. By a LOT. And this hotel has free on-site parking, too. I'm not saying this place is "cheap", but it costs 50-75% less than any others in the area. -On-site restaurant and pub. I didn't go to these, so I can't speak to how good they might be or how pricey, but it was good to know they were here, in case I wanted to grab a meal or drink close by. As other reviewers noted, there are some real trade-offs when staying at a historic, older hotel: no elevators, no AC, tiny bathrooms, my room was tiny too, no modern outlets with charging stations, no built-in hairdryers (you need to ask for one at the front desk), no room safes, minimal storage for clothes. Did I mention stairs? There's even stairs you need to walk up to enter the hotel. (Good to know if you have a lot of heavy luggage). If you have mobility issues, please take this into account. For me, this place checked off all the major boxes, and I would definitely stay here again.

The location is very convincing, walkable to downtown, and nearby parks/beaches. The staffs were very welcoming and friendly. Overall it's a charming good value option.

The rooms look just as fresh and modern as they did a decade ago, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. We love staying in this part of Victoria because it is so walkable, with beautiful parks and charming local spots like The Village nearby. It's also a fantastic dog-friendly option, which made it easy to bring our two pups along for my mom's 70th birthday celebration. While the staff was fantastic and the mineral pools--especially the glass-roofed sauna with views of the ocean--remain a highlight, we did run into some frustrations. The AC struggled to get below 69°F in any of the three rooms we booked, leading to some restless nights. We also had the misfortune of being next to a very loud group that made it difficult to enjoy our outdoor space. The front desk was helpful enough to intercede at 10 PM so our son could finally get to sleep, but the thin walls and noise levels were disappointing given the premium rate. Overall, it is a stunning hotel in a perfect location, but the climate control and soundproofing issues were a bit of a letdown for this particular trip. It remains a beautiful spot for a family getaway, but we're hoping for a quieter and cooler experience next time.

Rebuilt a few years ago, they kept the original charm of what feels like a fairmont property. There is a lovely pool area with mineral pools and small beach access area. Gym is open 24 hours, there are quite a few options for coffee, cocktails and dining. Our room was spacious with an ocean view, if you open the door you can hear the water running to shore from the balcony. The king size bed was just the right amount of firmness, plush bedding was very comfortable. Small fireplace with wall mounted tv above had a good selection of stations. Big soaker tub with sliding peek a boo doors to the bedroom means you can soak and watch tv or chat with your roomie. Large shower, double sinks and separate toilet area was nice. They have Babor amenity bath and shower products. Nespresso machine with pods and real creamers in fridge, microwave and cooktop for those who want to cook in room. Plush robes and bath salts are a nice touch. Room was $500+, so amenities and comfort were commensurate.
