The staff person, Vivian went above and beyond paying close attention to refills, cleaning the area, and sweeping. I live in Seattle, and you find this service at fancier hotels. Some hotels and inns have Carl's crumbs and dried up milk on the tables. Great job! The rooms were cozy with everything that you could need for a family. The bathrooms were spacious and the beds super comfortable. The highlight was the manager Tiffany. I'm all about customer service and Tiffany made my family and I feel very welcome by offering use of a pool at a nearby property with what appeared to be her day off. The car show happening over the weekend added another layer of fun as there were two vintage models parked in the lot. What a great experience and the neighborhood is really cozy. Well, between Jan and May they stopped offering the airport shuttle and any other in town shuttle. It would have been a great help had they let us know this before we arrived. Being we are both seniors in our 70's it would have been appreciated had they given us a first floor room. Read the fine print " No elevators" I had previously contacted them with our late arrival time. I was told their shuttle stopped around 9:00 pm. We would take a taxi to the hotel. " No problem." Well it was a huge problem. Our flight arrived at midnight. We again phoned to let them know we would take a taxi and be there around 1:00 am. Nope, we couldn't check in until 4:00 pm the following afternoon.. So much for their "We'll accommodate your needs." Just great. The airport is closing and we have no room. Could've taken a taxi to Victoria but again we had no room. Luckily for us an airport guard took pity on us and opened the nursing mother's room for us. It had 2 very short loveseats we slept on. By 4:00 am the room had to be opened to the public. So we finally arrived at the hotel by 7:00 am. We were dead tired and thirsty. The ice machine was out of order. They no longer offered shuttles to local venues even though the current business card still clearly stated local and airport shuttles! The frt desk was sweet but absolutely no help at all regarding the local buses. We stopped across the street at the Days Inn and their frt desk clerk printed us a bus schedule for Fisherman's wharf. That first day we walked 10 miles! The breakfast was so-so. Hard boiled eggs, very small danish pastry, apple or cutie, small yogurt, oatmeal & cold cereal. What was delicious was the French Vanilla Latte. Oh so good. On the plus side our room was immaculate and the bedding very comfortable. We also had the pleasure of meeting the maintenance man Kevin. Great friendly gentleman. We met another couple staying at Robinhood and we both agreed, we'd chosen Robinhood because they offered airport and local shuttles. She had booked 6 months in advance and was also upset the hotel hadn't been kind enough to inform us about it. Complementary electric bikes? There were bikes in the lobby but not charged or working. Live and learn. Next time I'd pick a hotel closer to the water front.

We were checked in immediately and given directions and access to their secure parking lot below the hotel. Getting to our room was easy and I loved that there was hand sanitizer in the elevator, which smelled really good btw. We booked a 1 bedroom suite which had a full kitchen, giant closets and huge balcony. I wouldn't call the kitchen fully stocked, but it was good enough for preparing simple meals. The bed was super comfortable and I loved that the rooms had fire places and more than one tv so we could watch what we wanted without fighting over the remote. This hotel felt very homey, kinda woodsy and was the perfect place to stay without it being too far from Victoria.

Great location just a block from the Inner Harbor and a great price for about $60 Canadian for a private room. I see some posters had issues with the dorm accommodations, but I can't speak to that, as we stayed in a private room.

My room was very cozy. Loved using the Nespresso coffee maker. They make a great cup of coffee. I slept so well too. Nothing like sleeping on a bed at this quality or star hotel. Overall, I felt it was worth the money. They also allowed me to drop my bags at the coat check room for an hour until I had to check in for my seaplane ride back to Vancouver Harbor. I plan on returning to Victoria and will strongly consider staying at this hotel again.

The Magnolia proved to be the perfect choice. The Magnolia exceeded our expectations! During our two-night mid-week stay, every interaction was seamless -- from the efficient valet service and smooth check-in process to attentive housekeeping and hassle-free checkout. Rather than dining at The Courtney Room restaurant, we took advantage of Victoria's fantastic walkable dining scene. Our only minor comfort issue was the room temperature -- even with the AC running, we found ourselves opening the windows as wide as they would go for that lovely coastal breeze. Fair warning though: the harbor seagulls are incredibly chatty and apparently never sleep! LOL One small disappointment: our car was returned from the valet absolutely covered in bird droppings -- quite a lot! While I understand the hotel can't control wildlife, it was surprising to receive our vehicle in such a different condition than we'd left it. Would we return to the Magnolia Hotel & Spa? Absolutely! The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. There was no wait at all to check-in. Check-out was also very quick, there was no line so it only took a minute. The hotel has parking but requires a room key to go down into the underground parking lot. There are lots of spots available. The hotel also allows cars to be parked after checkout until 3pm (as of writing), which is really nice of them. The room I received was spacious. Upon arrival, there were nature sounds (birds, wind, forest theme) playing and the fan was on. There is heating but no air conditioning, and so the room was pretty warm, even for early April weather. I was given a room on the 7th floor, for reference. My room had a full kitchen, including a stove, fridge, sink, and microwave. Even had a taller dining table that serves as a kitchen island. The bathroom is big and feels luxurious, with both a shower and a bathtub. There were many towels supplied, as well as body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Overall a great experience. Would definitely stay here again.

Ours was a two bedroom suite with one locked since we didn't need it. It is very well maintained. The water pressure is great. Kitche in stocked with dinnerware and cookware. Dishwasher, cooking range and a fridge along with microwave. The biggest selling point would be the view. We had 120° view of the waterfront. And it was stunning at night and our little one enjoyed the seaplanes activity and all the hustle and bustle. Kept the kid busy. The bead was comfy and big. They made the bed and changed towels per our request. They have's us bottled water everyday. That was helpful. Tip- the entry to parking garage is a bit tricky. Please do not follow maps. The stop sig is left only or right only. There is no straight road. So you have to come from Yates st or two blocked down on Wharf to turn into alley going down. They will buzz you in. The room itself was also really nice and felt new, other than there being compact fluorescent bulbs in the lamps rather than LEDs. Staff was really nice and efficient. Water pressure and temperature in the shower were great. Kitchen was fully equipped, but didn't come with oil or spices. The insulation on the windows and balcony doors was really good, you could barely hear the float planes taking off. Every restaurant we had reservations at was within a short walk of this hotel. All in all, a great place to stay in Victoria.

I can open fully an old-wood-framed window and lay here gazing at the green leaves of a tree swaying in the breeze as I inhale copious lungfuls of the oxygen I love so much. In addition to free air, free breakfast is also promised, which is pretty normal in hotels, but get this...drumroll...FREE DINNER and a drink! We, unfortunately went out and wasted our money on bad food at a restaurant (Dosa Paragon...read the review), so don't know how the free dinner was here. My expectations are reasonable, so if they have coffee and bread at breakfast, we are good! If they have a waffle spinner,that would be typical but surprising here. Yes, it's a little noisy, but not as much as I feared for being in the heart of a bustling downtown. Stay here and get room 22B! Update: Excellent breakfast and there is a communal kitchen! No waffle spinner.

*BED BUGS* Stayed in Room 17K and left early because the…read moreroom was gross -- hairs in the bed, dirty counters, and a small red bug in the sheets that I *hoped* wasn't a bed bug. Spoiler alert: it was. The air freshener under the sink was so strong it made me nauseous. When I tried to check out early, instead of asking "How was your stay?" or trying to help, the front desk just said, "No refund for you!" -- which is a great way to make a guest feel unwelcome, not valued. They say they don't want to greet guests that way, but that's exactly what happened. Management says they "need to be advised at the time" to fix issues, but how was I supposed to report bugs at check-in when I hadn't even been in the room yet? And when I tried to raise concerns at checkout, I was cut off. So, no chance to fix things on site -- which they say is why they won't refund me. They admit their "high standards of quality" weren't met -- the hairs and dirty counters prove that -- and that the "nauseating air freshener" is a love-it-or-hate-it thing they could have removed or even moved me to another room, but none of that happened. They claim they found no evidence of bed bugs but will "treat it as such" because it's a serious complaint. I have photos of the bites I woke up with at home, and I saw a similar bug in my own apartment later. Seems pretty connected to me. Finally, they say they won't refund me because I "threatened" to leave negative reviews -- except I'm just sharing my honest experience, which any traveler deserves to hear. They offered a discount for a future stay, but after this, I won't be going back. If you want a clean, safe place with guest service that actually listens, look elsewhere.
