It's always hot in the movie theater.Very uncomfortable. Also if you come ti watch a late movie the concessions close before your movie is over so no refills or anything during your movie. My biggest problem is how hot it is though, genuinely it's to the point where I'm sweating during the movie. read more

Very spacious movie theater here in Ascension. Ticket prices reasonable and cheaper than AMC I believe. The people are nice and they concession stand has many options. The best part is they have cherry coke and mr. pibb in their fountains. So rare not to find those coke machines with the thousand options. Doesn't taste the same. Only thing is because it's the only one in Ascension Friday and Saturday night parking can be horrible and they need more light in the parking lot. read more

You can buy your tix electronically for speed of service right inside the lobby doors....makes the experience as painless as possible... Snack counter prices are in line with anywhere else you might go to see a flick.... But back to the seating... ultra comfy, plenty of leg room, think they have 10 screens with 6-7 of them being small and intimate with the other 3 being somewhat larger... Tix prices are in line with what you'll pay in Baton Rouge maybe 25-50 cents more but hey small price to pay for not having to drive into Baton Rouge if you want to catch a big screen viewing.... read more

This is our home theater. But I would drive out of the way to watch a movie here. Extremely friendly and clean. Visual and auditory quality is spectacular. If I was forced to say something negative, like many theaters today, the popcorn is not popped on site. They accept Movie Pass and have no problem letting you sit in the theater early - as long as the cleaning crew have finished their chores. Food is typical. That's not how I chose a theater, so that's doesn't weigh in on my rating. But they do have food if you skipped dinner to make the trailers. This theatre is very convenient for Ascension Parish! The prices are not bad and they do have a laid back atmosphere! There is ample parking and never had to park far! The staff are helpful and it is a laid back environment. Because of the location we actually went back to the movie theatre twice because it was so hot outside! My family and I have been to Malco a few times since it recent opening and i would say it's nice. The theater is very covenant to Ascension residents therefore, I will keep going to this theater rather than driving an hour away. I will say I do not like the chairs they have in theater, I believe they are cheap and do not recline well. Although they do seem to be larger than other theaters I would much rather be comfortable. Snack bar I believe has a nice selection and the prices are well..... "movie theater" prices, so no surprise there. The staff members are very friendly and even escorted a group of kids out of our movie for being disruptive and compensated us for the trouble. read more

I have been here several times with friends. The theater is always very clean. The seats are very comfortable with room to stretch out. Concession prices are outrageous just like every other theater on planet Earth so I won't fault them for that. Seems to be standard. Staff are ALWAYS smiling and seem to be having a great time even during busy hours. The parking lot stays pretty packed. We usually arrive in our personal limo and have no problems in the front. A very nice bowling alley and arcade station is located next door; worth a stop too. The 3-D theater room is awesome. Overall, best place to enjoy a movie near home without the Baton Rouge traffic or hassle. read more

Nothing to complain about. On Monday night, it was dead. I finally saw The Dark Tower. My BF and I were the only ones in the theater. Last showing on a Monday night at the beginning of the school year. We weren't surprised. The staff was friendly, helpful, and swift of service. They even allowed us to bring in a blanket from our car when we asked since it was pretty chilly in the establishment. The seats were comfortable and the area was clean. I am VERY critical of movie theaters because of numerous bad experience at Rave/AMC and the place on Perkins. But this theater is amazing! Very clean and I love their respect for others with their "no children under the age of 3 after 6 sign". The sound system is also the BEST I've ever heard. I just wish the arm rests would come up between the seats and the seats folded so it would be easier to get down the aisles (I am petite and still have trouble). read more

The seats in the theater are VERY cushiony and are made of a comfy leather like material. I like them as opposed to theaters that have the cloth seats that have the bottom seat that folds up. The theater is kinda small, they don't have many screens showing movies and they need a larger parking lot. The theater is next to a bowling alley as well, so you can make a day of fun in one plaza! However that makes for cramped parking quarters. The prices for food are too high at all movie theaters so I wont ding them for that, but I do not like how they have the butter stations over by the drink fountains. There are always kids over there trying to butter up their popcorn (or over-butter lol) and hold a drink with not much space to work with. Generally clean, never noticed any issues. This review is in regard to my recent negative experience with Malco cinema in gonzales. Although it is a fairly new establishment I have reason to believe it has dust mites. I shook off my first itchy experience I had about a year ago when I had to walk out after 15 minutes of an uncomfortable itchy sensation almost all over. Skeptical of this first incident I checked the reviews and saw nothing alarming. I'm hear to say there is no doubt I picked up dust mites from this cinema. About ten minutes into the movie I started to notice an itchy sensation on my legs, then a little while later on my arms, my neck, and my body. I have no allergies and the itching has persisted to the next day. I feel obligated to inform the public of this matter. read more

Big, comfy, leather seats allow for a different experience than what is common in BR. Movie selections is pretty good, although I wish they had an occasional indie film instead of showing 3-4 kid films at a time. Great selection of food in the theater and the location is perfect for AP residents. It's a nice place. The screening rooms are small, but there are a few that are decent size. Those tend to show the newer/better selling movies. The chairs are super comfy which is a huge plus for me. And of course there is the convenience factor of it only being 10 mins down the road. Staff tends to be gracious which is more than I can say about most places. Having an arcade right next door is great when you have a little one with you. But sadly the food is terribly hence why I gave only 4 stars. read more

This movie theatre claims to be moviepass supporter but whenever you try to pay with the moviepass card it declines you , the lady at the register also wrote down my moviepass card number for whatever reason , I call moviepass customer service and was told nothing was wrong with my card , also inform the representative about the cashier at the theater writing down my card number , which she say was illegal , went to another theatre and the moviepass card work , so I dont know why this movie theater is declining moviepass cards read more

Thus theater is a definite slam dunk. This is a theater that is in a Plaza with acclaimed food restaurants right beside it. It has a bowling alley and arcade connected to it so this could be considered a great place for a birthday party. Once inside you find a halkway that T's off into another hallway. This is where the individual theaters are. The theaters range from giant to small. The new movies are put closer to the front of the hall where they can be better monitored but they are still secluded. Allowing the perfect atmosphere for movie hopping. Once inside the individual theaters. You will find leather chairs that don't fold and plenty of seating. This theater is very new so not many people go. The one thing about the theater is its future. This is put in a place that is horribly vandilized. Once people get word it's open and because the theater isnt a chain the hooligans who ripped apart Perkins Row will rip apart this, and there will be nothing to stop them. read more

I have gone to the bowling alley several times this last year in Gonzales, LA. I have been to a different movie theater in Baton Rouge once this year and was to the Malco theater in Gonzales, LA for the 720 pm showing for the Assassin's Creed movie. My wife requested that we go with our teenage son since she is currently 39 weeks pregnant to go to a movie. We had teenage kids running into our movie theater, tripping over my legs leaving a knee to my thigh (the wife and I were sitting in the handicap lane due to her being pregnant). The teenage kids were in and out of the movie theater 4 x's, then they were talking in back of the movie theater, going through the trash and generally were being disruptive. No less than 4 adults complained to the manager which sent in the security guard, he would watch them for 5 minutes or so then leave. It wasn't like it was in question as to which disruptive individuals it was. These individuals finally left to go torture some other paying customer's movie. I don't quite understand the problem especially since it had so many complaints to management (they seemed kind of anemic). I am writing to let ya'll know my experience and hope that in the future for the good of the customers that you value all of the customers that you have in your facilities. read more

I come here for almost every major blockbuster release. Everything from the atmosphere to the connected bowling alley is amazing about this place. My only problem with the theater is the ridiculously priced concessions (which is a given for all movie theaters). The screens are a bit on the smaller side but I get so immersed in the movie I really never notice. The ticket prices are amazing too, $7.50 for an adult matinee? Sign me up. read more

I recently went to Malco to watch Insidious 3, and it was the worst movie experience I have ever had. There were no seats in the movie and we had to sit in the very first row in a very tiny theater. We were surrounded by teenagers who were all on their phones, screaming across the theater, and acting like they have never been in public before. No one checked our tickets walking in which explains why there was about 10-15 kids standing in the middle of the walk way. I do not understand why the staff did not think to send security in there because i paid 15$ for a ticket, I would like to enjoy the movie in peace. We did receive a refund along with 3 other couples. Something needs to change or this place will get run down fast. read more
