    Lobster Roll
    Payton M.

We decided to head over for dinner after seeing the Lobster Roll featured in Newsday's Feed Me article--something I'd been wanting to try. Our past experiences here have been hit-or-miss, but generally good enough to keep us coming back. This visit followed suit. Drinks: I started with the Lavender Haze cocktail--beautifully presented in a soft lavender hue with a rosemary sprig. It was tasty but a little too sweet for my liking. Appetizers: * Flatbread with Burrata: Literally a flatbread topped with room-temp burrata, a sweet jam, and tomato. It lacked balance--needed more acidity to offset the sweetness. We took it home and, funny enough, my mom loved it--so perhaps just a matter of taste. * Fried Chicken: Not what you'd expect--just a breaded chicken cutlet (think chicken parm) with a sweet sauce. Not "fried chicken" in the traditional sense. * Scallop Sando: Easily the standout of the apps. Funky in the best way--absolutely delicious. * M&M Platter: A mini sampling of several apps--this is the route to go if you want to try a bit of everything. Entrees: * Lobster Roll: A definite highlight! Buttered lobster-style (not salad) and generously portioned. I do wish the lobster was warm. Served with salt & vinegar fries that had great flavor but fell short on texture--soft instead of crisp. * Eggplant Parm: Disappointing. The dish was overwhelmingly cheesy--more like a cheese soup with barely any eggplant to be found. * Cacio e Pepe: The sauce had great flavor, but the pasta was severely undercooked--even my husband, who likes it al dente, found it too crunchy. Atmosphere & Service: The restaurant is small, casual, and cozy, with friendly staff. Service was pleasant and welcoming. Highlights: The Scallop Sando and Lobster Roll (minus the fries). Misses: The Eggplant Parm and Cacio e Pepe. We truly wish them success and hope they tighten up a few things, because there's definite potential here.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What an overall great experience at Maldon & Mignonette. When I entered, vibe was super nice. It's a smaller restaurant, cozy, well decorated and space between the tables. I was greeted immediately and was seated in a great spot. The service was outstanding, I never needed to ask for anything. Drinks refilled, silverware replaced, table cleaned, & really friendly people. Saving the best for last, the food- outstanding! I really appreciated that this menu is packed with flavors and texture in each option. I got the harvest wreath and my husband got the Caesar to start. Caesar was torched table side to made a nice char on the cheese & the harvest wreath I was obsessed with. Then we did a pasta course of the lasagna. I felt this lasagna was delicious and using lamb as the main part of the meat blend in this was a game changer. Then for our main meals my husband had the pork chop which he loved and I really enjoyed my scallop dish. We split the oatmeal cookie dessert which we enjoyed as well. I cannot wait to come again for brunch and looking forward to the winter menu (menu changes each season). Also, if you have allergies, or require gluten free foods, the chef is extremely knowledgeable and accommodating of gluten free and allergens, and most of the menu is gluten free and labeled what you can enjoy.

What the F did we just experience? Sunday night, we're going to LGA to pick up our son. I told my wife I had maldon and mignonette bookmarked for a while, let's try something new? Off we go to Sea Cliff. The last time we were in Sea Cliff was when we said our nuptials. My sons plane was delayed. I changed my reservation from 6:30 to 7. Around 3pm I get a voice message saying the restaurant closes at 8pm. Interesting but ok. We arrived early and we were greeted by the only person working the front of the house. Bartender, waiter and host stand, one guy! We're given menus and some time goes by. I looked online at the menu, lots of interesting items but we're going to stick with a pasta course, salad and a fish dish. A couple comes in and is seated close to us. This guy put us on a pay no mind list! He is talking over the menu with them, takes their drink order and walks away. He comes back, gives them their wine, talking about football. Now I'm staring the guy down. He finally walks over and says: yeah, what's up. Brah, really? We give him our food order and I ask for a wine list. He comes back and I order two glasses of wine that comes to us a few minutes later. The food comes out at once. The guy? We never see him again. Never asked how anything is, never asked us for another glass of wine. Nada. Here's my review: overdressed salad, over charred octopus and weird pasta that was stuck together. Final grade: D+ The restaurant decor is also questionable. Picture 90s style diner wooden table and chairs. And the walls have quotes on them?? Very strange. My wife leaves to go to the bathroom and the guy shows up. How was everything? I'm pissy at this point and told him the truth: overdressed salad, over charred octopus and weird pasta that was stuck together. I didn't like anything. He says: ok, I'll tell them. I said who? Who are you going to tell?? The chef. He gives me the bill, never apologized for anything, he didn't even say goodbye. Now, I found this spot on social media. Hey Mr Influencer. If chef was a beast in the kitchen and gave us an exceptional meal, I'd say the waiter was a tool but hot damn the food was insane. Dude, the food was mediocre at best and the service was horrible so don't slam me! My experience was two stars.

Wonderful meal at Maldon & Mignonette in Sea Cliff last night. The service was great, the place small and charming and the food delicious and reasonable. We started with the M & M appetizer, which had Crab Cake, Bacon & Peanut butter, a Scallop Sando & polenta bites. The crab cake was more like a crab salad, but delicious and tasty. The bacon - OMG, and with peanut butter, delish. We also had poleta stuffed balls with goat cheese and a spicy remoulade. So good. For our entrees, the duck was medium rare and perfect. The lasagna, wow, Speck, Veal & Wild Mushrooms. Flavors were great and smokey! What a cute spot. We will be going back. Service was great and it is always wonderful to have the chef / owner visit your table to check in.

The shishito peppers were blistered just right with great flavor and a little kick. Simple, but done well. The smash burger was the standout. Cooked perfectly with a great sear, juicy inside, and topped with melty cheese and pickles that balanced everything. Add the truffle fries and it was game over. Crispy, flavorful, and generously seasoned. The Greek salad was fresh and bright, with good quality feta and olives. A solid, refreshing balance to the heavier dishes. Service was exceptional. Attentive without hovering. The decor is warm and stylish, great energy without being too loud.

We were seated immediately in the room toward the back left corner where we were the only table occupying the space. In fact, as the evening progressed, no other diners/groups were seated back there, which was nice. We observed that although it was a Friday evening at prime dinner hour, the restaurant never got too full nor was the bar area buzzing. Again, it was nice that it wasn't so hectic in there, but we noted that as curious for a spot like this, on a Friday evening, and when the weather was pleasant. Starting with a high point: our server was really good. He was a very nice young man who let us know at the end of our meal that it was actually his first day on the job. While we could tell he didn't know everything about the menu - which is totally understandable given him being a new hire - he was kind, personable, and went above and beyond to provide excellent and timely service. As for the venue, it was nice although not upscale and that was just our speed for this evening. We loved having the room to sit comfortably at a setup that could comfortably seat 8. As for the food, it was decent although I wouldn't call anything I tasted fantastic. For apps, we shared 2 orders apiece of calamari, crab cakes, and lamb chops (6 apps total) with the chops being my favorite out of those. The calamari were small and didn't pack a lot of flavor but they were fried well. The marinara sauce that came with it was also fine but not remarkable. The crab cakes were a little mushy for our liking. For my entrée, I ordered the Lobster Rigatoni. There was plenty of lobster on top, the portion was more than solid, and it came out at the right temperature but the flavor again failed to really impress and was somewhere between "fine" to "good". For dessert, I ordered the chocolate lava cake, and I was truly disappointed by that. For starters, there was no gooey "lava" as the name implied, and the edges were dry and seemed overcooked. The flavor again fell a little flat and I didn't bother to finish it even though I am usually a huge fan of chocolate desserts. All in all, we had an enjoyable evening as a crew, but the food could be elevated a bit from a flavor standpoint. I would give the food a little better than a "3" but I think they have enough going for them that amping up the flavors could do wonders for their desirability and drawing more diners.

A good Irish ale. We decided on the French onion soup. It was served hot and was delicious! We ate and talked and some of our friends came in and visited with them. Good times. My wife was full after the soup , so she ordered some French fries. I ordered a buffalo chicken burger with onion rings. Marcus gave us a tray for our leftover with a note on the cover. See the photos. It seems Marcus adds a special note to his customers. This was a nice and unexpected surprise. We enjoyed our time at Gallagher's. The wait service was excellent, the food was great and the atmosphere was friendly. I strongly recommend Gallagher's Pub. Beginning in 2014, Bilello began homebrewing out of his backyard shed. By 2016, after working as an intern at Oyster Bay Brewing, he started looking for a space to open his own brick & mortar brewery. Bilello finally acquired a circa 1928 building in downtown Glen Cove and would spend the next two years renovating it. He chose the name "Noble Savage" as a reference to his way of life: to live nobly and have a noble vision, but be savage in your actions. After running out of money, Bilello initially opened the space as a craft beer bar before he generated enough revenue to get the brew system running. Within a few years, Noble Savage became nationally acclaimed for their small-batch hazy IPAs as well as Bilello's strict commitment to using 100% New York State-grown and floor-malted grains from the Hudson Valley. I recently visited Noble Savage while I was traveling through Long Island. They have been on my list since I read about them in Hop Culture Magazine. I arrived right as they opened for the day. The taproom has sort of a rustic feel to it. I pulled up a seat at the bar and looked over the draught menu. The staff were friendly and there seemed to be a small group of regulars stopping by for beers. Throughout my visit, I enjoyed short pours of "Unintended Consequences" (Dark Lager), "Compelling Insight" (New England IPA), "Psychedelic Hyperboost" (New England IPA), and "Vicarious Joy" (Double New England IPA). Everything was really good; I can see what all of the hype is about! Owner and brewmaster Frank Bilello was nice enough to chat with me for a few minutes, give me a tour of the brew system and even let me sample a green beer fresh from the tanks. If you're a serious craft beer drinker then keep Noble Savage on your radar!

I was so happy to hear that they opened another restaurant in Glen Cove! Plenty of street parking is available, and they even have a shared parking lot in back of the restaurant! I hope more people give this place a chance because the food and service is great! This was our Shared Menu (plenty for 2ppl, and we had leftovers): -- Water Buffalo Momos w.Chili Sauce (8pcs/$18): the Momos were tasty; the meat was very lean. I would skip the Chili sauce next time. I didn't like the sweet and sour taste of the sauce, so next time I'd like to try the steamed Momos with Johl sauce instead. -- Choila Roti "Not a Taco" with Jackfruit (2pcs/$12): Not a Taco but similar to a taco. This was delicious and I'd get this again. We choice the Jackfruit version but they also have a chicken version. -- Masala Wings (Sauteed wet version) (4pcs/$11): I remember really liking the wings when I was at the Ridgewood location but couldn't recall which wings we had.
