While I've been to Plado for dinner in the past and loved it, I went again but this time I/we hosted a work event. We worked with Christina to host a group of about 75 people. The food was excellent! Had another fantastic meal at Plado. Pastas are homemade and you can taste the difference! I particularly loved the lemon shrimp pasta which sounds simple but was bursting with flavor. We tried so many dishes on my second visit and they ranged from great to incredible. I was scooping up the sauce on the octopus salad, the apple Gorgonzola flatbread was a table favorite. The red Sangria had such a nice flavor and I loved that the chef made rounds at the end of the night to chat with the guests. Apparently he was featured on a recent food network show. First time at Plado in Glen Cove, and what a fantastic find. The restaurant is beautifully designed, and sitting at the open kitchen gave the night an energetic, lively feel. The food here takes tapas to a whole new level - unique, innovative, and full of flavor. The lamb meatballs were off the charts, and the artichoke with crispy prosciutto is a must-have. Every dish felt creative yet approachable. We ordered five, but four would have been plenty since the portions are generous. Visiting Seacliff and found this restaurant to try. What a fun and beautiful experience! It is tapas, so don't expect full size portions. Yes, it won't be a cheap experience, but you will have fresh, healthy and nicely presented food. The dishes were very tasty and diverse. Our first time at Plado and we enjoyed the experience as well as the food. Small plates to share allowed everyone to try a variety of dishes. We ordered 12 items for 5 people and were stuffed. Food and waitstaff are excellent. Unfortunately, the acoustics are awful and the DJ music is painfully loud. On a Saturday night, it's impossible to hear the people we were hanging with at the table. We left to go have dessert elsewhere. read more

We went back to Plado again and they never miss a beat. From an excellent selection of small plates and entrees only to be outdone with their desserts. Sitting at the bar is always a treat with highly qualified bartenders/mixologists and great conversation. And don't forget the made in house panettone makes a great gift for the holidays. Pros: Service was spectacular. Ambiance was my speed. It was an open kitchen setting, very sleek/clean, intimate and modern. Very good for a cute date night. The dessert was really good too; we got the lemon plum tart. The gnocchi was bomb and the drinks were really good! I'd definitely get the gnocchi again. The presentation of the food was also elite! Cons: I was hoping for some more appetizer/bar bite options. Our intentions when coming in were to grab small plates to balance out the drinks. I don't eat pork and a lot the "finger foods" were cheese boards (which I love) but with pork meat. I probably would've gotten the cheese board if it also had aged beef or something on it. I know it's an Italian place, but I've been to Rome and aged beef was offered along with prosciutto on a cheese board. (And please correct me if I overlooked meat outside of pork on the cheeseboard options). However, the people around me looked like they enjoyed it....so if you eat pork, you may love it too! We ordered the prawns and they were more like jumbo shrimp. I wouldn't get again. Overall...I would absolutely come back and try the other dishes on the menu. (Specifically that seared tuna and charred octopus!). The pros definitely outweigh the cons. I appreciated the attentiveness of our bartender and the overall vibes. read more

My wife took me here for my birthday. We were so excited to try out this new spot. The restaurant is pretty, but the food wasn't good. The best thing we got was the charcuterie board and we feel that wasn't even done great. They give huge blocks of cheese. We got the arancini that tasted and looked like mush, the gnocchi was recommended to us by our server, which he said melted in your mouth but it more like disintegrated because it was so overcooked, the short rib was dry with not much flavor. The drinks were just okay. The passion spritz was WAY too sweet, literally tasted like pure juice. read more

We definitely found one of our new favorite spots. Our server Walter was fantastic, as was the rest of the service. He went above and beyond and was extremely accommodating and friendly without being too much. The atmosphere was perfect whether you were in the mood for casual or dressy. The food was very good. Great mix of traditional and innovative tapas. The space was modern/clean and at least the area we were seated the tables were nicely spaced apart. Service needs to be improved. There were two of us. We ordered six tapas. At the time of ordering I was very clear about the order/pacing in which the tapas was to arrive. This was disregarded almost immediately with three tapas all arriving within 5 mins of each other. After conferring with our waiter and reminding him of what we had discussed just 15 minutes ago, we found a reasonable path forward. It's just that all that wasn't necessary. There's a gem in Glen Cove and it is Plado, our new fav place. We love eating at the bar and can always count on Maurizio and Ozzie to serve up great cocktails. Came for dinner on a Thursday night. The place was full! I suggest having a reservation on any given night. The menu is great with a wide selection. The ambiance is very cool (an East Village vibe). We had the Violets Crush for cocktails. Very refreshing and not too sweet. We had the crispy baby artichoke. Delicious! I love being able to eat the entire artichoke and the flavors were excellent. We also had the charred octopus, LI duck and paella with added chorizo and chicken. We finished with the apple strudel with a small scoop of vanilla. It was the perfect end to our meal. The service and ambiance was very good, pleasant. The vegetarian option in the menu , ordered gnocchi, spinach lasagna and flat bread pizza.. Gnocchi was okay. But all three vegetarian dish was very heavy in cheese and tasted the same Provolone cheese . The cheese in lasagna and in pizza was not enough melted, just big block. Slice of cheese didn't taste good. The spinach in lasagna was so stringy and choking kind of a feeling , I removed all spinach. Pizza was not a FLAT bread pizza, the crust was so THICK not skinny like flat bread. Lasagna and pizza were not hot enough. Disappointed with the food. read more

Per my wife and too many of my friends, I am a food snob. Food & feeding those I care about is my passion, so I will take that criticism. Went to Plado on 5/31 and was beyond impressed. Restaurant decor doesn't usually drive me in any way, but this place is gorgeous. The open kitchen is a great focal point (a little mesmerizing for me) but there is a great bar as well. The food experience exceeded any expectation I had. I loved the small plates approach to a meal, and there was not a single item on the menu that did not grab my attention. Since we were a large group (12) I was lucky enough to try many of the dishes and each was excellent, and several were inspirational (eg: taro-gnocchi in a truffle sauce!!) IMO, at its best a restaurant should be an expression of the chef's sensibilities about food and the dining experience; Plado nailed this on both points and it lead to one of the best dining experiences I have had in at least 20 years. Side note: the wine list is curated to the menu, so, if you order wine, you are safe putting yourself in their hands with your selection. read more

We tried Plado for the first time. I usually don't go to unclassy places that charge for using a credit card, and this was 5%. Of course they use the BS it is a discount for cash. The place is NYC modern, nicely done, the wait staff (Manny) was excellent and the Food different and very tasty. A very nice experience, the only thing I would say there was just a little too much oil in each plate, but that just could be a matter of taste. I say go if you haven't just close your eye to the 5%. If I paid out cash all the time I would need a brinks truck or live at the ATM. read more

Had high hopes for this spot but unfortunately it did not deliver. I was also willing to try a second time for the sake of fairness but saw the owners unprofessional and tacky response. Shocking. So the food is what deserves a 1 star but I wanted to bump it up to 2 stars for overall ambience and effort since this is a newly opened restaurant. I assume they are still trying to figure out how to run a smooth ship. The brisket croquette had the consistency of liver pate with a taste similar but more bland than a liver pate. Very off putting. The arancini was one fried large ball and the inside consistency was mushy with a cardboard taste with occasional hints of mushroom coming through. Not fresh and not good. The short rib was recommended and while it looked like it would be great and it broke apart nicely, it was extremely dry. The table next to us was a double date that also was speaking about the food not being good and they didn't order the same items as us. With all this in mind, seems like their reviews are high because they just had an opening night with provided food and beverages. Who knows but after seeing the lack of professionalism, we will not be back. Also, funny note, they were playing a Duolingo or language lesson on the speakers in all bathrooms the whole night seemingly coming off of someone's phone. That took away from the ambiance greatly. read more
