Visiting Seacliff and found this restaurant to try. What a fun and beautiful experience! It is tapas, so don't expect full size portions. Yes, it won't be a cheap experience, but you will have fresh, healthy and nicely presented food. The dishes were very tasty and diverse. We sat outside on their lovely front porch, with plenty of shade. Lots of vegetarian options. Beautiful interior as well.

Our first time at Plado and we enjoyed the experience as well as the food. Small plates to share allowed everyone to try a variety of dishes. We ordered 12 items for 5 people and were stuffed. We liked the pasta more than the paella and also enjoyed a variety of appetizers. Service was efficient and friendly and ambiance was cozy but a bit loud.

Pros: Service was spectacular. Ambiance was my speed. It was an open kitchen setting, very sleek/clean, intimate and modern. Very good for a cute date night. The dessert was really good too; we got the lemon plum tart. The gnocchi was bomb and the drinks were really good! I'd definitely get the gnocchi again. The presentation of the food was also elite! Cons: I was hoping for some more appetizer/bar bite options. Our intentions when coming in were to grab small plates to balance out the drinks. I don't eat pork and a lot the "finger foods" were cheese boards (which I love) but with pork meat. I probably would've gotten the cheese board if it also had aged beef or something on it. I know it's an Italian place, but I've been to Rome and aged beef was offered along with prosciutto on a cheese board. (And please correct me if I overlooked meat outside of pork on the cheeseboard options). However, the people around me looked like they enjoyed it....so if you eat pork, you may love it too! We ordered the prawns and they were more like jumbo shrimp. I wouldn't get again. Overall...I would absolutely come back and try the other dishes on the menu. (Specifically that seared tuna and charred octopus!). The pros definitely outweigh the cons. I appreciated the attentiveness of our bartender and the overall vibes.

Service was wonderful!! Food was great as were the cocktails. We got when the smoke clears, think smoky old fashioned. Delicious! I love the small plates and great variety on the menu. Highly recommend for a fun night out with lots of variation on dishes!

HAD MY 50TH BIRTHDAY PARTY HERE AND WOULD DO IT AGAIN!!!!!…read more This was only my second time here but my first visit made such an impression that I had to celebrate my big day here!! I started my party planning with a previous employee but upon getting in touch with the owner TOMMY, everything went off without a hitch!!! My host/server MICHELLE T. was truly amazing!!!!! She orchestrated my party like a pro, checked-in frequently with me, perfectly timed my chosen courses and paid careful attention to ny birthday cake and cupcakes I brought in. I loved all their party options, they truly have something for everyone. If you want afternoon, brunch or dinner times, you can literally have dozens of different selections for your entire party courses, I hope to have a future celebration here, and try even more delicious choices. Valet parking was a great plus, location is also very convenient from Queens and Suffolk counties. Defintely check them out if you're looking for a weekend brunch, romantic dinner or a family celebration.

Our group of 7 had reservations for 7:00pm a couple of Fridays ago. When we arrived, we pulled up…read moreto the valet, handed him our keys, and walked in right on time. We were seated immediately in the room toward the back left corner where we were the only table occupying the space. In fact, as the evening progressed, no other diners/groups were seated back there, which was nice. We observed that although it was a Friday evening at prime dinner hour, the restaurant never got too full nor was the bar area buzzing. Again, it was nice that it wasn't so hectic in there, but we noted that as curious for a spot like this, on a Friday evening, and when the weather was pleasant. Starting with a high point: our server was really good. He was a very nice young man who let us know at the end of our meal that it was actually his first day on the job. While we could tell he didn't know everything about the menu - which is totally understandable given him being a new hire - he was kind, personable, and went above and beyond to provide excellent and timely service. As for the venue, it was nice although not upscale and that was just our speed for this evening. We loved having the room to sit comfortably at a setup that could comfortably seat 8. As for the food, it was decent although I wouldn't call anything I tasted fantastic. For apps, we shared 2 orders apiece of calamari, crab cakes, and lamb chops (6 apps total) with the chops being my favorite out of those. The calamari were small and didn't pack a lot of flavor but they were fried well. The marinara sauce that came with it was also fine but not remarkable. The crab cakes were a little mushy for our liking. For my entrée, I ordered the Lobster Rigatoni. There was plenty of lobster on top, the portion was more than solid, and it came out at the right temperature but the flavor again failed to really impress and was somewhere between "fine" to "good". For dessert, I ordered the chocolate lava cake, and I was truly disappointed by that. For starters, there was no gooey "lava" as the name implied, and the edges were dry and seemed overcooked. The flavor again fell a little flat and I didn't bother to finish it even though I am usually a huge fan of chocolate desserts. All in all, we had an enjoyable evening as a crew, but the food could be elevated a bit from a flavor standpoint. I would give the food a little better than a "3" but I think they have enough going for them that amping up the flavors could do wonders for their desirability and drawing more diners.

Our waitress was responsive to whatever we needed. The prices are a little high for the portion size, but the food is great quality. My vinho verde was a nice size pour. My husband loved the Iberian ham here. We both had the garlic shrimp which were very well flavored but unfortunately didn't have even one garlic clove, which was disappointing and there were only 6 shrimp. The olive oil they were in was great though and we dipped our food into it and they were perfectly cooked. The paella is supposed to be for 2-4 people which I can see if you have more tapas but we finished it off. It came with a healthy amount of shrimp, grilled calamari and chorizo and was perfectly seasoned. We also appreciated how the rice was a bit crispy and not mushy. The table next to ours ordered what appeared to be a very good looking fruit cobbler of some kind but we were too stuffed for dessert. They also have a weekday happy hour before 6pm that looks good with deals on booze. Really enjoyed this spot! Conveniently located in the middle of garden city with ample free parking.

We ordered shrimp, steak on the bone, bone marrow, potatoes, polenta, broccolini, shishieto peppers, and paella for dinner to share. We all enjoyed our food. For desserts we got the lemon and blueberry pudding, was delicious. I loved the bread pudding. My grandfather enjoyed his Nutella chocolate.

Let them know that they need to take the fish off a little bit sooner. Can't wait to go back and try it again though and hopefully they'll know how to cook fish by then. For dessert, I got the cookie sampler which came with 2 of 5 different cookies - chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, sugar, sesame, and chocolate. The cookies were fresh and they came out warm and soft. My favorites in this order are oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, and chocolate. Everyone else got the cheesecake with whip cream or chocolate cake with Ice-Cream.
