Here is why: My boyfriend was referred Covina Dental Specialists for extensive dental work. He needed an extensive amount of treatment and was understandably overwhelmed and anxious about the entire process. From the very beginning, Yvonne, the front desk manager, was nothing short of amazing. She truly goes above and beyond and sets the standard for what patient care and service should look like. She took the time to really understand how anxious my boyfriend, was and suggested treatment approaches that would accommodate his anxiety and make him feel as comfortable as possible. She consistently checks in with patients before and after their treatments to make sure they're doing well and to see how the office can continue to support them. Her kindness, patience, and genuine care made a huge difference for us. Dr. Huang and her entire staff were as equally incredible. They were attentive, compassionate, and took the time to make my boyfriend feel comfortable every step of the way. Honestly, each team member deserves their own five-star review. The office itself is equipped with advanced technology, and the environment is exceptionally clean, modern, and welcoming. From the moment you walk in, you can tell they prioritize both patient comfort and high-quality care. What impressed me most, not being a patient, was how thoughtfully they developed a treatment plan that allowed all the necessary work to be completed in the right timeframe and in the most efficient way possible. When we experienced a scary situation that required us to come in for an emergency visit, they accommodated us incredibly quickly. Even more impressive, Dr. Huang reassessed the situation and adjusted the treatment plan based on the change in circumstances. Many providers stick rigidly to their original plan, but she took the time to re-evaluate and make the best decision for his care. They also took it upon themselves to coordinate services and carefully plan our financial out-of-pocket costs so they would be as low as possible, while maximizing the available benefits between their office and the referring dental office. Because of this experience, my boyfriend has completely changed his opinion of the dentistry industry. Recovery has been smoother than expected due to their careful work, post-op instructions, and phone follow-up. I was originally terrified to undergo the procedure and sedation. Dr. Hanna and his team made it as comfortable a process as they could, sending me off with a smoothie and wheeling me to my car downstairs. I appreciate the care and thoughtful gestures so much. My first surgery appointment here was canceled without warning (I only learned upon calling them to ask about my surgery), but the office apologized for it and was able to set me up with another appointment easily. The office is super busy so it's sometimes tough to get a call in. However, staff always treats you with dignity and patience, which I am grateful for. The physical office itself is spotless with a small lobby. It's located on the second floor and parking can get full due to other businesses in the building, so I recommend coming a little early to make sure to secure a spot. Three weeks prior I had appointment with Dr Kim, we came in for X-rays and were told there were two cavities that needed fillings, so we scheduled an appointment for fillings last months. When we arrived, the nurse said the previous X-rays were unclear and needed to be retaken entirely. Then Dr. Kim said there were actually five cavities, and that two of them were so severe they might need to be extracted. While my son was having the X-rays taken, he gagged a few times--which is quite common. He did not resist at all throughout the process, but Dr. Kim said he was uncooperative and needed to inhale some gas first, followed by IV sedation to put him to sleep. IV sedation always carries some level of risk, and it's best avoided if possible. As a doctor, you should at least have basic patience. A six-year-old child cannot be expected to sit perfectly still like an adult. During the entire exam, the dentist made no effort to communicate or interact with my child. As a pediatric dentist, if you don't have patience, then you should treat adults instead. I understand that putting a child under general anesthesia makes it easier and faster for you to complete the procedure and move on to the next patient--especially since your income is tied to efficiency. But as a doctor, shouldn't you first consider local anesthesia and try the least invasive approach? Therefore, I strongly, strongly do not recommend the pediatric dentist Dr. Kim at this clinic.

wow, i am amazed by the quality of care and the softness of the staff. every team member i spoke to…read morewas very kind, professional, and helpful. they are also well staffed so wait times are short. this was my first visit and i was very grateful at how the providers listened and built a great treatment plan with me. my previous dentists were not as willing to work with me on a treatment plan. in the past, i had been concerned about my receding gum line. my most recent dentist, another private practice, had nothing to say. i got a second opinion and he said there was no concern, that my teeth were growing and elongating. well, fast forward to my visit at west covina dental, Dr Abu took a look at my x-rays and did advise there was a bit of bone and gum loss. finally, i don't feel crazy! it was wonderful to be taken seriously and have treatment to prevent further loss. periodontal services can cost a bit so if i can prevent it further, i will. my hygienist Maria Bonilla made sure the procedure was comfortable and enjoyable. she was a master with the tools and i seriously have never had cleaner teeth. i have quite a few follow ups and i am looking forward to having them as my dentist. shoutout to my dentist Dr Abu, my hygienist Maria Bonilla, Jasmine for finance and Angel for finance and front desk. everyone was awesome!!
