Lovely experience. As a semi-purist who has never really smoked nor consumed alcohol regularly, I have come to enjoy a good cigar on occasion. I recently visited Malibu Cigar Lounge on a spontaneous journey to Ventura. When I walked into the business, I was greeted by Kimble. Kimble helped me to identify a mild cigar. When I requested to sit outdoors, Kimble provided me with a nice seat cushion for balcony seating and an authentic smile. I enjoyed smoking my cigar and processing thoughts as ocean breezes caressed my face. I drove all the way here and they wouldn't pick up their phone to give me better directions on where to park. The second time I called I heard one of them say, "it's a shit call" in the trashiest voice I've ever heard. I called a couple of more times hoping they would understand that it's a customer trying to ask a question about parking. You can tell this is not a part of the cigar or pipe community. I really enjoyed the Malibu Cigar lounge. It's such a chill and lowkey spot! If you are an avid cigar connoisseur, you would love coming here. It's not a big selection of cigars to choose from. However, you can bring your own cigars and they have a $10 cutting fee which is a great deal. They also have a BYOB lounge (bring your own bottle), which I thought was cool since I was not the cigar smoker amongst the person I was with. So I was able to enjoy some wine, while my boyfriend enjoyed his cigar. Just make sure to bring your own portable wine/liquor cup because they did not have any. You would have to walk up the street to the pizza place to get cups. Another cool thing to note about this place is Dr. Dre's house is right across the street from the Cigar Lounge!! read more

However, he does have bits of the good stuff: Tatuaje, RyJ, My Father brands, etc. They're very friendly and have really nice outdoor deck/lounge overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Come on in!! This is a wonderful cigar lounge. The owner (Rick Lohr) is extremely personable and welcoming. He is very knowledgeable, and can provide guidance on cigar choices if you desire it. Then you adjourn to his rooftop patio that has unbelievable views overlooking the Pacific Ocean, across the street from his Pacific Coast Highway location. It's a low key, relaxed vibe, despite the professional athletes and actors that you may bump into up there (as I did). Great place. read more

Guy stayed late for me on the eve of Thanksgiving. I'd call that damn good customer service. Small and intimate but clean. Not huge but good selection of cigars. They're expensive but hey, it's Malibu. The cigars were fresh & left the men happy after the Thanksgiving meal. Caution though- yelp & google maps had the address listed incorrectly. I updated on both but for reference it is PAST pacific Greens when traveling north bound. You may want to call to confirm the correct address before going. read more

A buddy of mine and I just started frequenting this establishment due to COVID-19 closing our usual cigar lounge. Immediately upon entrance, we were both greeted warmly and felt at home. After many sessions there, we can now call this lounge "our spot". Rick the Owner, along with his sons, are all superb operators and know their cigars and craft. Visited this spot while on vacation. It's a tradition that my favorite guy and I find a cigar lounge in every city. Unfortunately this place was a disappointment. I can totally understand that they have members. The guy said that non-members must spend a minimum of $30.. although we spent over that we still didn't feel welcome to enjoy, he "suggested" after purchase that we check out the public rooftop. Reluctantly we checked it out.. fortunately, the rooftop has an amazing view of the ocean that's across the street. Hands down this is the best cigar lounge in Southern California. Great selection of cigars and the owner Rick is knowledgeable and super helpful. Friendly group of people are usually there watching sports on the big screen TV and they have an outdoor patio in the back to enjoy the Malibu weather with some fine tobacco! I live out in Hollywood but I make the drive a few times a week because the atmosphere is so perfect. read more

This was a pretty small shop with a nice selection of cigars. My husband and I walked in and were approached right away by the owner. (At least I think he was the owner.) We purchased a cigar and since we are not members, we could not sit in the lounge area. We were instructed to go up to the upper balcony area, which was empty. It was a little odd, as there were only two people there and no one upstairs. Granted, it was overlooking PCH, but it had a view of the ocean, which was nice. Overall it was a nice spot, but we didn't feel especially welcomed. It was a decent spot, but a bit pricey. To purchase a cigar and smoke elsewhere, I think we will go to another shop. I was very uncomfortable in that intimate setting with the host. This was not the owner Rick, he was a tall caucasian man heavy set. Upon entry, I was greeted and I sat down. My spouse used the restroom and while he was away the host offered a drink to one of the visitors who walked in. When my spouse returned, we sat together on one end of the circle while the host and 2 men were on the opposite side. I asked the host if he had Wine and he laughed and said he does not as if this is a gender drink. My spouse asked if he had anything else and the host was short and declined. When we were there previously, the bottle of Bourbon that my spouse left was drunk by the patrons which was not what they told us would happen, they said they would hold it for the future when he returns, he was disappointed as it was an expensive bottle. So the host and 2 others were drinking the same liquor and my spouse and I sat there smoking. This was the final finale, The host got up and returned with 2 cold bottles of water. These were not requested as we were right across from the visitors. In all honesty, I believe the drinks were also provided by the host based on the second visitor's reaction to the cup. We were not offered any water either. The men with the liquor said oh wow !! Thank you. It took me back to watch a " Host" not even proceed to offer us a bottle of water especially when we inquired about a beverage, even if we had to pay. In conclusion, we were very uncomfortable and he was intentionally making us feel that way with his tone and lack of professionalism. I won't be back and Ladies !!! Overpriced and the meek little guy who works there recommended my good mate what is essentially a gas station quality smoke. He said it was his best cigar, a Romeo y Julieta that was so dry it essentially snapped in his hand. That kid then proceeded to tell me that what is in 7/11 priced for 6$ was gonna be 15$ and at that point... the closet sized store I was standing in became a little too big for the both of us, so I had to leave. There are some Pros and Cons, unfortunately, there are more CONS than PROS, I live in the Malibu area and I have frequented throughout the years at the Malibu Cigar Lounge, this place has so much potential but the owner, I believe his name is Rick has no idea what he is doing. The prices are damn right outrageous for the quality of the cigars. I have ordered a few "Cubans" from this place but I have mixed feelings about it, truth be told I'm not sure if the cigars are real Cubans. When I went a while ago (Sometime last year) I know it was after the business moved, I was interested in a membership it was..... ridiculous.... to pay for some seats that are frankly broken down and worn and those were reserved for "members only" it's like making reserved seats at a hut. No thank you, it's definitely not worth it for several hundred bucks and you don't even get anything, at least at other Cigar lounges they offer you something, a small gift or something to show appreciation for new and old clients hell they didn't even do a relaunch party or a grand re-opening. Nope, not Malibu Cigar lounge they do things backward, it doesn't make any sense. At the time you had to spend a whopping 30 bucks (at minimum) if you're a non-member but since the Cigars are overpriced anyway the $30.00 tab rings up quickly. The other issue is the hours and customer service, I made the mistake of coming back a few weeks ago, (hoping against hope this place has changed) I tell you God Forbid if an important game is on the owner has a habit of just kicking people out in the middle of a game, and I'm talking playoffs!! Important games! I was hoping this place would change and I made the mistake of bringing a friend we try to settle in but we can't stay because Rick wants to go, that is so unprofessional! Who does that? Imagine going into a business during the opening hours and the owner kicks you out because he doesn't want to be there. He has no issue with taking your money but he has no clue what customer service is! It was embarrassing, all I wanted to do was watch a game and give this place a try and I tell you, you have to be careful how you treat potential new clients because that cost him big time, my friend works in the entertainment industry and he wanted to smoke nearby I was a little leary but then I went against my better judgment and I will NEVER EVER! Bring a guest here again which is a shame because he lost potential business because of it. The Pro is, the Cigar lounge is close to my home and I think the only reason why this place gets repeat business is out of convenience, it is definitely not the quality, the service during the week is so inconsistent, on occasion, if I'm not working I stop by on the weekends, I have gone on a few Fridays, Saturdays, and rarely on Sunday (Sunday's are the worst days they play really crappy music and have a tendency to close early, I believe this place is a family-owned business (Which explains a lot), from what I could remember during the weekends it can get real busy time to time but the guy that works those days is cool. I can't think of his name and I'm not sure if he is still working there. I just vaguely remembered that he is the only one that stays when the games are on. That is one of several reasons why I stopped coming here and head over to either Old Oaks and sometimes the Lone Wolf. Consistency is key. They have a good concept but just because you have a Cigar lounge in Malibu does not give you permission to treat people like crap because you feel entitled to do so because of the location. I feel bad for the regulars how they put up with it and why they put up with it is beyond me. But convenience is a hell of a thing. This place needs to focus on customer engagement, drop their prices, extend their hours, get a liquor license and check the quality of their brands, I have had a few incidents with Cigars falling apart and dry to the bone I tried to talk to the owner and one of his sons at another time they didn't even bother to give me a brand new one they both had the nerve to tell me it's just fine. I should have known better. It's important to support a local business this place needs some serious changes one way or the other another fire might take them out if their lack of business acumen doesn't do them in first. If you live nearby and don't mind paying for overpriced and possible fake Cubans and you don't care about playoff games then Malibu Cigar lounge is the place for you. Oh, and the view is nice upstairs if you're allowed to go up there. read more
