The headline is that I will definitely try it again even though the review might suggest otherwise. I ordered takeout but once I went in, I'd consider eating there. It's a cozy, clean restaurant and the staff is very inviting and friendly. The food I ordered on line was ready quickly and remained warm for my 15 minute trip home. I love dumplings and ordered both a steamed and fried version. Sadly, neither impressed me. The fried version didn't have a lot of flavor and thankfully it was greasy. The wrapping on the steamed ones was thin (which I prefer) but I didn't think the filling was flavorful. I order "Thai medium" spice to the papaya salad and chicken pad Thai and even though I can generally handle spicy food, my mouth was on fire. Both dishes looked fresh and great but I didn't get a good sense of flavor since my mouth was burning! I would definitely order each of the dishes again but "Thai mild"!

Extremely Disappointing, Not Worth the Hype or the Price After several people recommended this place, we were genuinely looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, the experience left us frustrated and disappointed. It started with being handed the wrong takeout order. Mistakes happen, but it's still surprising for something so basic to slip through, especially since the restaurant wasn't busy at the time. Luckily I caught it before we left and was able to get it corrected. When we got the right order, things didn't get any better. The portions were shockingly small, maybe a pound of food total, which included a wonton soup. We double-checked, and yes, it was all correct. Opening the containers at home was the real letdown. The chicken was painfully dry, honestly some of the driest I've ever tasted. The crab rangoons and yellow fried triangles looked and tasted like something microwaved from a big box store freezer section. There was nothing fresh or flavorful about it. We spent just over $60 with tip, and for that price we expected a decent meal. A comparably priced place just down the street would have given us quality food and enough leftovers for a couple of days. Instead, we were left hungry, frustrated, and honestly a bit stunned. Sixty dollars for the picture you see below. I don't usually write reviews, but this one felt necessary..

Food never disappoints. The service is great and the people are sweet. And the ambiance is relaxing. The space is perfect for small or medium gatherings. Worth the drive!

What a find! We were wondering why there's a message about a 40-min wait time for orders on Friday and Saturday nights, and now we know why! It's because the food is totally delicious, spiced just right! My son loves the pineapple fried rice and Tom Yum soup. I had the wonton soup, just yummy! Rick, the owner, is very friendly. We'll definitely be back!

I was afraid to order pad Thai here coming out of NYC but found the noodles here quite good. Everyone has their version of pad Thai and I'd say the spectrum of this dish's elements was met here. It's not the absolute greatest and sort of mild but good in flavor. Tofu chunks were nicely roasted. I will be back to try other plates.

We love Yelp so much when we travel and this is why. We found this fantastic restaurant and had such a delicious meal. My fresh rolls and Tom Kha soup were phenomenal and the peanut sauce was so rich and yummy. Everyone LOVED each of there curries. I am surprised it was not more busy at 6pm but I am grateful, our service was fast and friendly.

I booked this vacation after I was on the news and gained a following as a small business and influencer. I was NOT compensated for this review, they in fact missed their chance on the fun! I went here this week while on vacation with my family to celebrate my second year in business as an independent dog trainer. This week I won a state award, and my partner and I took some time off to enjoy the beach. We stopped here as it was recommended to us. We brought along our two dogs, Rude the corgi(7), and Gilly a Dalmatian mix(9). I checked bring Fido and was happy to see that this place was dog friendly! It absolutely was! I had a younger server who offered us water for our pups, and even told us that there was chicken on the menu for pups. We ordered a plate for them, and a plate for us, and we're set to have a good time. Halfway through our meal, our server came out to take our second round of drinks as an order, after my partner and I finished our apps. She was very kind and considerate and took the rest of our food order aswell. After she returned inside, a women came out and offered our two dogs a treat. She introduced herself as a "local animal advocate" (I later found out that this is a bartender who has worked there for 15 years, has received multiple owner complaints, letters informing the owners of misconduct, she was a older women who's name starts with a J) She came out and said "brrrrr it's SO COLD out here, are your dogs okay?!" And then offered them food to "warm them up" (it was 68 degrees) She mentioned to us that she runs a local social media page to advocate for pet safety, and puts signs up in the local trails that give information for when it's too hot to bring your dog out, and that she wanted to include information about how it's now too cold to have your dog outside. I noted to her that we were here on vacation at plum island, as a family ran dog training business, to celebrate my success of winning the second year of best in state. In which she specifically scolded at multiple times and said "I haven't been down that way in years, I wouldn't go down to plum island anymore." And mentioned how it's a dirty place to bring your dogs in general. (As if being in York 60s and having "15 years" of bartending XP 7 minutes up the road makes you any better at the end of the line.) She then touched my dogs without consent, and my female dog backed up out of her space because she had come around the table and reached down to her. She then said "oh does your head and ears hurt honey. You poor dog, what do they have on your neck!" And asked "is she hurting? Is she in training?" Pertaining to my dogs training collar she was wearing, for safe and proper handling under my decade of professional guidance. I then replied "both of these dogs are accomplished in sports like obedience, agility, and she does therapy work." And she said again "well there's no reason for her to be on this collar if she has done all that then. I don't understand why she's out here right now." I, not so kindly, replied "we put it on when we go new places in the event people show up to our table and interrupt our dinner and make it difficult for us to enjoy our time, I hope you have a good night." It wasn't until our server came out with our check, that we were informed that the women was a bartender there. Our server was told that we had been served a second round of drinks by the bartender, which we had ordered before this interaction, and she had never made them. She claimed to the server that she had made them and delivered them, thankfully the server took them off the bill. We paid $90 for three items that left us hungry, plus two mai tais. I left this place 24 hours ago and this interaction is still on mind.

Slightly above average. -- Egg Roll (on a lunch combo): Thought I'd try it again to see if they changed the recipe. Alas, still all-white with mostly cabbage and little crumbles of gray pork. The outer shell wasn't as dazzling as the first time. Below average. -- BBQ Ribs: Served very hot, very thoroughly glazed to cover even the cross sections, with very light char, and fairly fresh. Decent enough flavor and solid execution overall, good enough for above average but no threat for elite. -- Pork Fried Rice: Tried on different visits as both as a full order and on a combo, this had VERY fresh pork nuggetry and all the right additions (egg, onion, bean sprouts, scallion). Freshness and moistness of the grains were both superb. Flavor didn't hit as much as I seek, but the other high marks mitigated that. A little above average.   -- Egg Foo Yong: Large thick mounds and a dark, thin sauce. Decent flavor. Slightly above average. -- General Tso's Chicken (on a lunch combo): Very generous portion, surprisingly long lasting crunch, and more surprising heat to go along with the sweet. Great meat-to-batter ratio; not-so-great moistness, but good enough. Overall, well above average and the most flavor-packed dish I've had there. Near-elite. Family's has a strong fandom and also a strong contingent that boycott the place, mostly because of that egg roll, but sheesh: there are other appetizers to have. I still think they're a bit overrated by their fans and overmaligned by their haters, but unquestionably above average, easily earning a 4 to separate them from the pack. I do like the vibe there a lot. They are a spotless, friendly, well-oiled machine, and that counts for something.

You could tell the gyoza tasted good, but it was drowned in a spicy sauce needlessly, obliterating the flavors within. The lobster rangoon were inconsistent, some were filled full, others were flat because nothing was in them. Then, the sweet cream cheese flavor overtook the lobster. The shrimp yaki udon had little flavor at all, which disappointed mightily because I usually love yaki udon. There was a special roll, crystal sea roll. Amazing, this is where the balance of flavors was found and it was the best part of the meal. A shrimp and asparagus roll was also ordered, but the strong asparagus flavor led to another imbalanced experience. Altogether, there was some good food here but too inconsistent to mark higher.

** Burger and Donut Review **…read more Outstanding space with a rustic modern look, a 4-sided bar, balanced seating (booths, tables, high-tops), an outdoor patio, and a private room. My wife and I had the pleasure of sitting in seats more akin to living room furniture-- that's a good thing. Also good was the breeze that blew in from the deck on a hot day. -- Blackened Cod Sandwich: This was my wife's lunch and it looked very good, with a brioche bun, and no shortage of condiments. Most importantly, the tall portion of fish was very moist and very well seasoned. My small taste didn't have the classic "blackened" vibe, but it was very good. A mini basket of fries provided plenty. Probably frozen, but good quality and a good balance between crisp and droopy. -- Dry Aged Burger: As a burger aficionado, that's what I came for, and a dry aged one-- a rarity around Boston, sadly-- gets my attention immediately. This one, ordered medium rare, brought a decent crust and decent moistness inside, though both could be more pronounced. It was probably closer to medium than medium rare, and the brioche bun was a white bready under the dome, but it worked. The dry aged flavor came through immediately. Good supporting cast among the sauces and vegetation, and same fry basket treatment as on my wife's plate. Overall, good instead of the hoped-for great. -- Donuts: We came at brunch, so this was a nice option for us to treat as a dessert. My opening came when I saw another server walk by with a plate and I asked her upon returning, "What was that plate of meatball-looking things?" She said those were the apple cider donut bites, and proceeded to gush that they were her favorite thing on the menu and a don't-miss item. This prevented me from having to twist my wife's arm, so it was a done deal. The "bites" were fairly large, closer to baseball size than golfball size, with a nice thick outer crunch yielding to a very warm, still-moist-but-fully-cooked interior. Delicious cinnamon flavor on the outside, natural donut dough flavor inside, and kicked up by a thin, cinnamon-maple sauce underneath and a whipped cream (they called it and vanilla anglaise) on the sides. Fantastic, and in an era when "artisan" donuts run $5 apiece even out of a fridge, getting six warm ones of higher quality for $12 was a steal. The burger was closer to good than great, but overall a good meal, good service, great space, and surprisingly good value (on all three items). I'd be interested to try them for dinner.
